I have the fingerprint locked option enabled. I find that sometimes, somehow the phone vibrates when it is in my pocket. When i take the phone out of my pocket, it will say fingerprint lock disabled. It's as though it is detecting the inside of pocket as a print, that's trying to unlock the phone. I also find that the flashlight turns it self on whilst it is in my pocket and also the bluetooth and wifi.
Is anyone having similar issues?
Finding it really annoying.
I've found some of my settings changed before, and I've noticed that the double tap to wake will work through thin material . . . like a jeans pocket.
When you put it in your pocket, turn the screen towards your body and see if that helps. Failing that, try disabling double tap to wake.
I've not had the fingerprint sensor disabled message myself, but the sensor can also trigger through thin material too. It obviously won't read any fingerprint, so if it happens a few times, it just temporarily disables the sensor.
I had to disable the double-tap to wake screen option as it was always triggering in my pocket (screen facing in). I only have screen lock set to swipe though so walking/climbing stairs was waking the screen, pulling down the notification panel and going to town changing settings. I even somehow managed to change the time display setting from 24 hour to 12 hour. I mean, how the hell can that happen in a short few minutes in a pocket?!
Glove mode is/was off if anyone thinks that might be the cause. No screen protector either.
I only have the sensor lock if my finger fails to unlock the phone after a few tries. Every time the fingerprint is not properly read it will vibrate, after about 4 go's, it locks and you need to type in your pin. I'm guessing something is pressing the power button in your pocket and it's trying to scan your finger but failing, so by the time you pull it out, it's locked itself!
I too had to diable double tap to wake because it kept coming on in my pocket. even if it does not get past the fingerpring lock it still wastes some battery.
it would be nice if something could be done in tasker to:
if phone is flat on table(accelerometer)
then enable double tap to wake.
else disable it.
DT2W is wayyy too sensible at the moment. I hope Sony will fix it. A touch or double touch shouldn't be detected through clothes when the screen is off.
That feature was perfectly tweaked on my OnePlus One running CM12.1, and I liked to use it
Yeah I find the screen touch, fingerprint and rotation all way too sensitive. I have already disabled 2 of them, fingerprint is next....

Ditto with the tap to wake frustratingly waking my phone constantly in my pocket. Never had the problem with the Z3. So many issues with this phone that were perfect on the Z3 feel like I've gone backwards.

This is so annoying. My phone always wakes (through dt2w) when in my pocket and does weird stuff: changes settings, calls people, etc...
The one thing I found working for me is keeping the screen facing away from my body while in my pocket. It doesn't wake the phone up then.
I have this problem as well.
Try gravity screen app. It should turn off the screen in 1 second or less should it accidentally turn on while in the pocket.
This has bothered me loads so i've disabled the feature. You'd think they would make use of the light sensor to detect if the phone is in the pocket and then not unlock the phone on double-tab. There's the standard Google 'on-body' feature which can be used to disable security when the phone is detected as on your person.
and this is how a very useful feature quickly became most annoying issue... because of a defective light sensor or its faulty software development.
another thing I don't understand: if screen is locked, why notification access isn't ?!? at least they should put an option to enable or disable it.

That's actually standard Android behaviour would you believe - both Lollipop and Marshmallow. Don't expect a "fix" for this anytime soon...
It's configurable on iPhone though. Go iOS!

Love this watch, it is awesome.....except for one problem, it turns on too easy. By that I mean, in DND mode (or normal mode) if the bezel is rotated, the watch comes on. I accept this for normal mode, even though I turn it on every time I cross my arms, but for DND which I use when sleeping, at movies etc, it still comes on with an arm cross, or brush against the bezel.
Is there an app or setting where it will only come on with a button press, or a 1/2 watch rotation of the bezel?... A deliberate act!

I agree. We need something like Theater Mode in Android Wear. I find when sleeping using DND mode, everyone I roll over and the bezel touches the pillow or sheets it rotates just enough to turn the screen on. Like a flashlight in a dark bedroom. I do turn down to level 1 screen brightness when sleeping but it's still bright in a dark bedroom. Really need something like Theater Mode.
I have AOD but Wake Up Gesture off (settings -> device). So turning my wrist or rubbing clothing doesn't activate it, but I can always see time, date, etc.
...but it's always on.
In settings, the screen can be turned off. I do this at night so the screen does not inadvertently come on.This is different than the Do Not Disturb setting.
Please explain as I don't see this in my settings.

I have the wake up gestures off, it isn't that. It is that the bezel is easy to turn and as soon as you do, the watch face comes on.

There is no such setting. I apologize, I was confused about what I was doing. It is the combination of Wake Up Gesture off and AOD off that I am using while sleeping. This turns the screen off and insensitive to touch, but twisting the bezel or pressing a button will activate it.
I noticed the same thing about the bezel at night or while wearing long sleeves. I left feedback with Samsung requesting an option to disable/enable the bezel for waking the watch. I doubt this will happen but it's all I could do.

Still lights up when bezel is rotated....at least on mine....
What I do is press and hold the menu button and put it on power saving mode if I go to the movies. The screen turns off like Theater mode on AW.
I think would be super useful if samsung will give us an option to disable the bezel for waking the watch.. they must do it.. both while on sleep or wearing long sleeves wakes up the watch without reason... I really hope that will do that the soonest possible..

I just got a 2018 Galaxy A7 this week.
I can't get the Always On Screen to function correctly.
When the proximity sensor at the top of the screen is covered, the screen will fade all the way down, but not shut off completely.
If I leave the phone face down on a table, I can see the screen dimly reflected off the surface if I turn the lights off.
From the manual: "If the sensor at the top of the device is covered for a certain period, the Always On Display will turn off". So it should turn off if face down, in a pocket, etc?
I tried setting "Block Accidental Touches" but this makes no difference. Same for a factory reset in case something I installed was holding the screen on.
Am I missing a required setting?

Also: I checked with the built-in tests (dial *#0*#). The proximity and light sensors seem to work ok, so this appears to be a software or setting issue? Or a mistake in the manual?
I confirm that the aod will automatically turn off if I put my phone into my pocket. But I afraid of the burn out of my display. The aod seem to stay the same position in a very long period and there is no option to set up the period for the movement of the aod. Maybe I will turn this funtion off.

I don't know if you need to worry about burn in, the clock and other information seems to move around often enough. Even the home button moves slightly to avoid issues. They've used these screens with these anti-burn in measures for a while and there hasn't been a large number of complaints.
Yeah, A7 has this function and I worry about the burn in of its screen but it do not have LED notification and because of that I must use aod. But the A6, my wife's phone, do not have aod and LED notification. Why Samsung did not support LED indicator for A series? It so annoying.
So I have the Accidental Touch Protection enabled in settings to avoid issues while phone is in pocket. But while in bed at night and TV is off, this notification pops in the middle of the phone when I turn it on. Never had this problem on the s10 plus which I still have. Wondering if this is software or another setting can fix this
Can't for some reason find an option anywhere on the phone to stop this from happening. Every time I'm on a call after about 10 seconds the screen will dim and a few seconds later goes to black. Can tap on screen 2x to wake it up again but I don't want this to ever happen. Not connected to full device shut down that I have turned up to 5 mins so has nothing to do with that setting. Can anyone assist and help me stop this form happening all the time? Many thanks!

Go to Settings/ Accessibility/ Screen reader/ Under Voice Assistant tap settings then scroll down to Quick Menu, tap it, then look for Dark Screen toggle. Click this setting off.. Let me know if that works for you.

Not sure then because that was the only thing I could find.. Maybe it's a setting that we don't have control over.. I do know that the screen is supposed to shut off when it's close to your face and the reason being is so that your face isn't pressing on stuff and making the phone do things you don't want it to be doing.. My moms face sure does seem to disable a lot of stuff like fast charging and even turning the screen brightness so low that she thought it was broken haha..

HA. No, phone is on a desk, not near my face. But yeah most phones nowadays do that. Thanks for trying tho.
Anyone else with any thoughts?
Tried replicating the problem on my end. I called someone, enabled speakerphone and put the phone on the table.
The screen indeed turned dim after 10 seconds and turned black afterwards. It bypassed my screen timeout setting which is 5 minutes. The phone app is in the foreground. Double tapping the screen wakes it up.
I minimized the phone app; the homescreen is now in the foreground. It adhered to the 5 minutes screen timeout setting.
I guess the temporary workaround is that after you answer the call, exit out of the phone app.

Hi. I had the same problem and found the solution using third party application: Screen On Call from Google Playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vorlan.screenoncall.free
It is compatible with Samsung dialer. On the top later you have small button to prevent screen going dark or to disable it. Proximity sensor is working without problem when you hold the phone to the ear.
