Motorola service sucks! - X Style (Pure) Accessories

Despite the fact that moto x style still hasn't got nougat update and both my moto g4 plus and moto x chargers and earphones stopped working after 7 months and my moto g4 plus had screen retention issue. I was still open to buying moto devices, thinking their quality and service is still better than other cheaper brands.
But today I went to moto service center to get a replacement for earphones that came with 2 months old moto g5 plus. Only 5 or so customers. I thought the whole process shouldn’t take more than half an hour considering there were 4 guys sitting at the front desk. To my surprise my turn came after an hour ( as the front desk guys spent their time chatting, taking selifies and roaming around.
Finally when my turn came the person sitting told me they will open up my device to check whether there was problem with accessories or with my phone. He simply didn't agree when I told him that the accessories don't work with any other device and all other accessories were working with my phone. He still didn't agree and said they'll also take 200 rupees or 3 dollar opening fee if they thought that the phone had water or physical damage. And they wouldn't show me the problem even if there was one.
Finally after everything they accepted the accessories and said they'll return the phone after doing a CIT. I waited for 1 hour 15 minutes and by then all the 4 front desk guys left and I had no one to talk to or see if anything was happening.
I entered their back office and asked for answers, after 15 minutes they came back with my phone and said I had to come back with the phone again as they couldn't complete their tests and they'll reinstall the OS on my phone.
And so I wasted my 3 hours time for nothing. Now I've finally decided no more moto. Their accessories stop working very soon and they're causing unnecessary trouble to consumers so they don't come to service center again.
Any suggestions how I can proceed? If anyone has email or a number where I can complaint about this, please share.

I don't think you're experience has anything to do with motonova.
I would have never let anyone crack open my phone, because of a bad set of headphones.

Like every other service center, there's always going to be bad eggs. Not much Motorola / Lenovos can do about it, other than the customer filing a complaint.

That sounds more like a bunch of lazy workers who are trying to scan you. I would report it to Lenovo HQ.

I guess you guys are right, but I think the whole process is now standard for all moto service centers. Things used to be different before at the same service center. They only checked the bill and looked at the phone for 10 seconds to check if the bill's for the same device. They checked if the accessory had any physical damage and if it was not working and that was it.

I don't think we even have Moto service centers in the US.

So after waiting another 3 hours today, I finally got the accessories ?

Yes they broke my first Moto X. Back cover was damaged and many scratches just to fix headphone jack issue.

[Q] NS Best Buy Repair...

I bought my Nexus S at Best Buy when it was free for AT&T last week and I was coxed into buying their Black Tie Protection Plan. I have to say that it was a great idea. However, I took my phone in, because I had a deep scratch in the screen and they told me it's a no go, and they wouldn't accept it for repair. The scratch was deep enough where I could feel it with my fingers... In the end, the phone had to be more impacted, like a cracked screen. They told me Zagg would make it look like new again... All of this while I was waiting for my Case Mate case in the mail...
So I went home and intentionally dropped my phone from two feet from the ground and it smashed the screen! I was "hopping" it would hold up a bit better than it did, but it did have a scratch in the screen. Went back to BB today and turned it in... unfortunately I had read terrible stories of BB repair turn around times, taking up to three weeks!!! So here I am waiting for a commencement email from BB regarding the repair...
Anyone else have experience with BB Black Tie Protection?
The speaker on my first nexus blew out and I also had the black tie protection. Instead of repairing mine they just approved me for junk out about a week later and i went into best buy and got a brand new one. The only way it's gonna take a terribly long time is if the repair center is bogged down or they are having trouble repairing the phone. I wouldn't worry about it too much as the typical time is usually gonna be no more than two weeks.

I have the black tie. Never did a repair though. however I did have to take my nexus in yesterday because of wonky touch buttons. They said I qualified for rapid exchange. They took my nexus, gave me an LG Optimus loaner, and said I'd h have a new nexus in 3 days. Can't beat that!

I took mine in for repair because the screen started to lift up on the top right corner. They said it would be taken care of in 3 to 5 business days. That was four business days ago. Also on the Geek Squad tracking website it still shows my device only as being checked in. Luckily I still have my N1 as a backup phone.
I was with GeekSquad a long time ago and their Policy then was, that Under no circumstances would they cover screen scratches or cracks. I'm sure that still stands now.
3 weeks is normal if they send the phone to Samsung, at least it's normal for European electronic device (phones, laptops, tvs, etc) exchanges/repairs.
Because I work for Geeksquad, I can answer most questions reguarding BTP.
90% of the phones sold at BBY qualify for Rapid Exchange BTP, the remaining 10% are either standard repair (taking approx 3-4 weeks to send it in get it repaired and then shipped back, but they provide a loaner phone everytime.) or In-store exchange.
Rapid exchange is essentially a pre-repaired phone, aka refurb. Instead of waiting normal repair times you get refurbs normally within 3 business days.
As for the OP, whoever told you scratches were not covered is lieing to you. BTP covers everything except blatent abuse, IE smashing the phone infront of an employee or sticking it under a tire and driving over it on purpose(yes they really can tell). This also includes water damage. Next time they tell you its not covered, ask to speak to a manager.
Well, I should have posted this before cracking the screen. And I thought they told me BTP covered everything except lost or stolen! (So I wouldn't have to go through the pain of cracking my screen...) And the rapid exchange wouldn't work because I have an AT&T version, which I believe is sold out...
Now I have to pain through three weeks!!! Dang!
Thanks for the info.

Sorry, BTP was not around back then. I was a GeekSquad DA at launch; remained for two and a half years.

My G3 died yesterday!

It has been working flawlessly for the month I have owned it.
I used it on and off yesterday. Had about 50% battery remaining.
Picked it up to use it later in the day and nothing.
Would not switch, would not charge even after battery re-insertion.
Totally dead.
Got hold of AT&T, their walk in device centers don't carry the replacement phones a "like new" frame only has been ordered for me and will be delivered in the next 2-3 days. They very kindly arranged to send me a new battery too.
That's poopy... :crying:
I am very sorry that this was your experience. I have a D850 too, it is the third one I have owned, and it is not be any means a perfect smartphone. The first unit overheated too often, the second had its usb port broken within a few times of connecting to it (and it was hot).
They should be happy to get product off the shelf, even for a swap. LG should go out of their way to keep more customers, not to mention AT&T. I have had the good fortune of a very responsive and open minded AT&T retailer and repair center over the last 7 years.
Threaten to defect to T-Mobile and see what happens; they should do more than this to support you IMHO.

Just got the replacement phone today. Excellent service from AT&T all round.
Will be interested to see if I notice any difference between the two.

That what I did when I was having problems with my s5. I even called them from inside the t mobile store. They shipped me out a brand New g3 and I have been happy ever since. I even qualified for the free charger and battery promo.

Did the replacement look like a refurb? How's it working?
My wife and I both got a G3. Her's did the same thing (completely dead) after about 1.5 months. AT&T got one to us the next day. It looks new but who could say for sure.
Mine looks new. Still had the up down arrow sticker over the rocker switch.

buying used g4 are any models safe from the bootloop issue?

Ok so I have currently a g3 that is pretty bad with signals so looking to upgrade...I don't want to spend a lot for the g5 until it drops in price in a year or so...so I was thinking of buying a used g4...I'm leary about the bootloop issues I've been seeing a large amount of people getting and since ill be buying a used phone idk if that'll factor with warranty...anyways I found one I want to buy and I asked the guy what the first few numbers were in the serial number and he said it was 589...that seems a bit high but I know most of the affected units were between 505-509...so do you guys think ill be safe with this phone? I really don't want to spend a lot of money on a potential paper weight...thanks in advance...
Not sure how to read the numbers
My phone has been in the process of dying for the last month, despite my attempts to eliminate an app here and an app there. Saturday it just finally booted endlessly, and won't go any place beyond that.
I bought the phone at Best Buy on 9-3-15, so I guess it's one of the early production models, but I'm not sure of the numbering system. The box has a UPC code with a 6 at the left edge of the code, followed by 52810, then a small gap and the numbers 51648, and finally an 8 at the right edge of the bar code. I can't figure out whether my phone is a "652" or a "528." Maybe somebody can help out with this question.
Thanks, Enzo
Well, since I posted on May 14, the LG G4 quit on me, and nothing but endless boots and more and more heat.
I *****ed to LG, providing the IMEI and the purchase date, etc., and they gave me an RMA. I shipped the phone via FedEx, as directed by LG, at a cost of approximately $20, to the repair facility in Ft. Worth, Texas.
The phone arrived at the repair facility two days ago, Monday morning, and I just got an email indicating that it was shipped back to me today.
No indication of whether it was repaired, or rejected because I regularly dropped it in the toilet and/or spilled coffee all over it, but maybe I'll find out in the next few days. (Actually, I treated the phone very gently, and even used a very grippy silicone cover to ensure I never dropped the thing.)
Since I feared LG would probably need weeks/months/years to get it turned around, I bought a new Samsung Galaxy Alpha from B&H Camera ($250) and a wireless charging device, and a glass screen protector. So at least if the dreaded boot loop syndrome recurs on the LG, maybe something will still be available to permit me to address the world via telephone from my hermit's cave. Enzo.
Email Today From LG--My Phone Headed For Long Beach
I received an email this morning indicating that my phone will be delivered sometime Saturday, May 28.
The email said "Defect: Power--No power with cable"
"Repair Results: Swap board (Main/RF) Others"
Not sure what all this means, but I guess it means they replaced the motherboard, and I'm not sure what else they may have done or not done.
I'll post further on the repairs and etc. next week after I get the phone up & running.
I am quite pleasantly surprised how fast the phone was handled by LG, inasmuch as it arrived in Ft. Worth on Monday, and they tossed it back to FedEx yesterday. Enzo.

Class-action lawsuit targets LG over legendary G4, V10 bootloop issues

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy...ets-lg-over-legendary-g4-v10-bootloop-issues/
About freaking time!
I will never buy buy another LG device again, every LG device I have owned has had at least 2 to 3 fatal flaws.
On the case of LGV10 I have experienced: Overheating, Failed Finger Print Readers, Image Retention/Burn in and finally the dreaded boot loop of death that is very real and common to ALL LGV10's and going back as far the G4.
I guess I was one of the lucky ones. Haven't had many of those issues. Only the image retention but since I started using the Blue Filter app, no more image retention. Been using this phone for almost a year and a half now. Did switch to the Note 4 briefly but came back to this phone. Love the fingerprint scanner, no issues with it, even with using Zerolemon battery & case. Also the always on 2nd screen is so useful.

No problems here either. Got it first day of launch. Still going strong.
Besides, LG is fixing the bootloops issue passed the warranty window. Wtf more do you want? They don't legally have to.
And when will people realize that class action suits only benefit the lawyers. It hurts the company which will hurt the consumers in the end.

my v10 is finally exhibiting signs of oncoming failure. It's randomly freezing now, and it's not a software issue since it still happens if I go back to totally stock with no root or extra apps installed.
I am on my third V10, the first two were victims of said bootloop issue
I have mine for a year now, without any problems...
I'm on my second V10 first had endless bootloop and this one has screen burn in.
Bought mine on launch (2015-10-31) finally bootlooped this past Tuesday and of course it happens 3 months after the warranty extension that others have reported. I didn't even hear about the warranty extension until it was already too late otherwise I would have had it looked at because of screen image retention/ghosting. Requested an RMA# so I'll see what happens after they get it.
Anyone know if they'll even care it was rooted when it died? Will they try to claim I broke it?
UPDATE: While trying to recover my data the phone stopped charging so it was completely dead when they got it. LG repaired my phone for free, not counting shipping, their turnaround was 2 days.
On my third, got my replacement and then got home and it was ****ing up already. Had another one sent out 3 hours later. This one is already ****ing up as well. It also has some ****ing malware that came with it that I cant get rid of no matter how many times I reset it back to factory. I was looking at getting the V20, but at this point I am probably going to go with an Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe next.

No there not actually there simply replacing them (with other faulty unit) within their un-publicissd 18 Month from manufacturing date as opposed to only modern there one year from. Purchase Date so they have done exstreamly. Little and depending on what country we are talking about the likly broke some laws by continuing to sell the devices after they new thew were found. Faulty (witch we k ow as they admitted it) sound alot like a car dealer taking the bulb put out the cheack engine light before you bought it, I assume it this happened to you would see it as the rest of us see this
I got a refurbished one from eBay about 6 mos ago. Never had the bootloop issue but getting the image burned screen sometimes and it overheats and is very slow from time to time at that time I just reboot it. Other than that everything else is alright.

Reading this was pretty interesting. Literally if you look at one reply to the next it's "no issues here" then "mine sucks like a girl named Hoover!" talk about hit or miss.
Would you or would you not buy this phone again for say $200 if you had to have a 5.5" screen or larger like this one??

In my case I was looking for 64 GB or more internal + SD + removable battery, there aren't many phones with that combo left so yeah I'd easily buy it again at that price especially if it's New. It's still a nice phone and supposedly will get N. If not for the bootloop issue I could see this phone being viable for another 3 years barring some major tech change.
I saw someone on reddit mention they purchased their V10 using a credit card (Amex) that offers extended warranty coverage and they were able to make a claim without having to send in their - I presume dead - phone. So I'd highly recommend buying with a CC that offers extended warranty, if you are buying one, that way you have some peace of mind if you find yourself with a dead phone and LG has stopped free repairs.
My third V10 bootlooped again over the weekend. I was scrolling through Facebook and the phone froze. I pulled the battery and it just rebooted over and over... I went to my local T-Mobile store and the rep said that I was the third person to come in there within the past few days with the same issue. The rep also said that my phone was no longer under warranty and made a phone call to tech support to see what they could do. They agreed to a warranty replacement since I had this problem so many times before. I told the rep that I didn't want another LG V10 or any LG for that matter, however, in order to Jump I had to turn in a working phone. The rep told me they would file the warranty claim and as soon as the phone arrived in the store, they would let me immediately turn it in and upgrade. I was holding out until the fall to see if the Note 8 would get released but seeing as how I can no longer wait, I think I'm getting a S8+.

Paid 129 for my phone it has an image retention issue but. Seeing as I get a he'll of a lot of hardware for 129 I would not mind again and again
I just had to send my phone in to LG and get the motherboard replaced. It cost me nothing, had the phone at least a year and a half at that point. Called up LG and talked to a rep and said it started randomly rebooting and then wouldn't turn on, he knew exactly what I was talking about and knew of the issues with the G4 and V10. Followed a few steps online through their webpage and had no issues. Only downside is that it came back with Nougat on it, so no root or exposed yet.

Dead Pixels!!!!!!!!

I set my phone down and picked it up only to find dead Pixels in the lower right of the screen! Anyone else have this happen. I haven't dropped the phone or gotten it wet. I am sending it off to Samsung Thursday. I hope they fix it and don't come up with some excuse to to warranty the dead Pixels.
I've had this happen as well. I sent it off to be fixed but when it came back, the front display wasn't working. Now I'll have to send it off again...
What a mess. You would think they would just give you a new phone. They wanted me to take it to one of these fix it places here in Dallas. I opted to send it to the official samsung repair. We shall see.
Yep, me too
This just happened to me an hour ago. I have not damaged the phone in any way. I hope this doesn't turn out to be another Galaxy Fold debacle.
Update: I just called Sprint and since I am within the 30 day satisfaction window, they are going to replace my phone. If this happens again then I'll be highly disappointed!

Hey what was the update ? I live in dallas too. and I have exactly the same concern. Its good to know what they say before i go there.
Same here. I sent it in for repair, got slammed back with out of warranty due to an invisible scratch in a totally different spot, with their own admission is unrelated to the dead pixel and fault in the screen, and is only on the outer cover...but still invalidate warranty....I switched to Samsung 3 years ago, I might be trying google next...can't replace a good customer service when it matters.
I took my phone to the Samsung repair place uBreakiFix located at 6205 Coit Rd Suite 336, Plano, TX 75024. They fixed it under warranty. Now my phone is really getting hot. So hot is is starting to burn my face when I talk on it. Looks like i will be calling samsung again. I am afraid this thing is going to explode.
Dead Pixels x2!
I am already on my 2nd Galaxy Z Flip and now trying to get #3! My first phone developed a spot of dead pixels in the middle of the screen. They magically appeared less than 24 hours after I received it. It was only plugged in to charge overnight, so I know that they were not caused by me. It then took over 3 weeks of multiple calls to finally get it replaced! At first, they kept trying to get me to send it in for a refund, and then told me that I could just buy a new one to fix it. I told them that they were dumb and that this was not a logical option. I received this phone through the Samsung Device Insights program for 1/2 price and a replacement would cost me the full amount.
Finally, after spending another hour on the phone and telling my story for the 50th time, I finally got through to someone in a higher up support office. He agreed with me that the previous calls and my experiences were ridiculous. He took the time to contact a local authorized Samsung repair store where he could send a replacement phone for me to pick up. On the bright side, I only had to turn in the phone, and I got a completely brand new one in the box. He said I could keep all the accessories from the original phone. While it did take a few days longer than I was originally told, I did eventually get the new phone.
Fast forward to today, I have had this replacement device for exactly 20 days. I am presently at work and when I opened the phone to check my messages, I found MORE DEAD PIXELS! Just like the last phone, they are always visible, only this time they are at the top of the display. I made another call back into Samsung, and I am currently waiting for a return phone call from Anthony. He just so happens to be the same upper level support person that I spoke with last time. He was the only one that was able to get the phone swapped out. Now I am hoping he will call me back to get this taken care of again.
I will say that If I do not get a call today as promised, I am sending it back for a full refund and I will never again buy another Samsung product. I am leery about even getting a 3rd unit after the horrible experiences I have had. Have any of you had similar problems and did they get your defective phone screens repaired/replaced as promised? So far, I am very underwhelmed and think that Samsung has a long way to go to provide proper customer service.
Me too
I've had a Z flip for 5 months and tiny dead pixels on the top of screen.
I've never dropped nor wet.
I went to Samsung repair shop in London and they told me that they can't repair under warranty and I had to pay 99 pounds.
They mentioned that they could see tiny scratch on the screen which I couldn't see my eyes.
My friends told me that Samsung after care are terrible and I agree that.
I've been carefull this phone and I've never had a problem with dead pixels before.
I felt I was conned and very disappointed with Samsung
