Need Help - Echoe on other side during calls.... - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I am having an issue, each time i make a call the other sides hears an echo of themselves talking (reverb, talkback) i have searched and searched but cannot find a solution, i tried to clean the mic holes and other possible solutions but no luck.
There is no echo present when i am using the loudspeaker so that's strange.... Any help would be appreciated...

Having Same problem. Updating and Reset didnt helped.

This happened to me on my phone, do you experience any echos on VoIP calls? (WhatsApp,Skype)
If yes, your microphone is probably broken and you have to change the charging port complete to get rid of this.

Other party hearing an echo of their own voice has nothing to do with the microphone on your phone...

I respect your knowledge but I have seen a broken microphone can cause this in Galaxy S7, which I have experienced before with my device. I had the exact same problem and replacing charging port with mic solved my problem.

Maybe some part of the board circuitry was routing their voice back into the mic circuit causing an echo effect, but the mic itself would not cause this, mic either picks up external audio or does not, that's it's only function
You replaced the entire board housing the mic and charging port and other circuitry not just the mic

Might look into the noise cancellation mics as 2 mics. AS this has been issues before on other devices....

Do you have your phone turned upside down or screen facing up when on speakerphone?
Facing up...does that matter?

Yes it does.
It does? Is the mic for speaker phone different than the one for regular use? Maybe that's the issue...
I have to agree, the speakerphone with stock rom seems to have poor functionality. I'm usually holding the phone with the microphone (which I assume is the little hole next to the USB port) directed toward my mouth, but callers usually have difficulty understanding me and the speaker tends to exhibit a lot of static.

So custom ROMS do better with this specifically?

[Q] can only use speakerphone

For a while now, whenever someone calls me or I call someone, I can only hear them via speakerphone or via headphone jack if I have it plugged into my stereo at the time. I assume they can hear me but I do not know for sure.
The problem is for sure NOT software, it persists through ROM changes and resets and impacts other phones. But I have read and searched and found many people with various phones having headset stuck enabled issues but no clear, specific indication on what is up.
I suspect there is something jammed in my headset jack causing it to believe something is plugged in, while electrically there is not a connection so there is no headset routing enabled on the OS. The jack seems modular but I can not tell if it is removable.
Anyone got further details? Or personal experience with a fix?
Would you happen to have Viber installed, that's a source of a similar issue.

Nope, and I am thinking its hardware related anyhow.
I had something similar happen on another phone. Turns out I had lint packed in the bottom of the headphone jack. Try cleaning it out and see if that helps

Hi, I have the same issue (I think) when you switch to loudspeaker can people hear you just fine? I have been looking into trying to make the phone microphone act as it does in loudspeaker all the time. I have created a new post here:

I'm with the same issue. People can only hear me when phone is in speaker state. The speaker however doesn't work so then I can't hear them. When not in speaker state I can hear the other party but they can't hear me. I figure that the microphone and speaker it located in the lower part of the phone, behind the little cover so maybe that whole section "went out".
Being able to re-route the microphone used in speaker mode to be used all the time would somehow solve the issue so that would be great.

You have a broken microphone. When you use the headphones or loudspeaker phone uses a second microphone.

Mic too low during Bluetooth calls

I'm having an issue with my Idol 3 5.5". It functions normally when in handset or speaker mode I can hear the other party and they can hear me, but when I connect to my car's Bluetooth people tell me they can't hear me or it sounds like the mic is far away and under water. I did not have this problem with my last phone so I do not believe the issue is with my car (it's a Grom unit) I have only had this phone for a couple weeks and have had the issue from the beginning.
I'm running 6.0.1 stock ROM build 7VAB-UEB0
So far I have tried:
turning off and on Bluetooth on my phone during or right before calls
unpairing and repairing my car
I am charging an old Bluetooth earpiece to try that today and make sure it isn't an issue with my car.
Anyone else have this issue and were you able to solve it?
Me too, dont know what to do

Not the same issue. That thread is talking about poor/low microphone when recording video. This thread is about poor microphone quality through bluetooth, which does not use the phone's microphone.
I'm still trying to determine what the issue is. I tried using an old bluetooth headset and the test call was fine so I will try it tomorrow while driving to confirm. It might be that the Idol doesn't like certain bt devices.
