I followed the root thread and have root with superuser su.
I am interested in switching to magisk.
With no TWRP port yet is it possible to uninstall magisk if I bork it?
Have any of you good people tried to flash magisk on this phone yet?
From what I've bin reading using magical mite not be a good idea !

Anyone using systemless root + xposed and android pay?
I was able to use systemless root with magisk v3 + phh superuser + systemless xposed without any problem however flashfire was not working since I cannot also make chainfire supersSU to work in s7 edge...
( releases after v3 up to v6 are not supporting well samsung - I verified though with the android version G935FXXU1BPH6 which also might be causing issues).
However after updating this version G935FXXU1BPH6 it seems to cause issues with TWRP and only boots to the last (twrp-3.0.2-3-hero2lte.img) and now I cannot go systemless at all because magisk v3 is not working aswell, root simply is not recognized.
SO basically now I'm using stock phone as I wanted to use android pay.... any ideas or anyone with any sucess?
im using v6 without problems. BUT you have to root with cfautoroot and unroot with superSU one time. i think that superSU changes something in boot.img that magisk needs to work ...
after that you have to use phh superuser.
pogo work
Flashfire will not
ok

This works fine as does systemless xposed etc. Did you pick the option to restore stock boot.img when you uninstalled SuperSU?
My banking apps can still detech phh's root. Wondering if the modified boot from SuperSU is the cause. Might just need to wait for Magisk V7 which shouldn't need this workaround.

Install xposed and KoalaCoak you don't need to be unrooted
That is only for ANZ and Westpac internet banking, not Android Pay? Is that correct? Have you got it working for Android Pay?
Cheers.

Read up on Magisk. Systemless Xposed is pointless as you can't bypass safetynet
If we get update and if we update.
Is it require to wipe data after flashing twrp?
Has anyone had success with installing Magisk systemless root on the J700?
If so may you explain how you did it?
Thanks
Bump I'm interested in knowing too

Download magisk app. Download the flashble file from xda magisk post. Flash it. Then magisk app will work. There you will find super su.
hello , I was able to obtain root on my BLN-L24. thats awesome i have 7.0 and emui 5.0 but i cant login to root with my terminal it keeps closing my terminal app every time i try. is there any way to replace magisk with another superuser? if so how?
Thanks so much for your help and your time
Hi, yes you can. Go here https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/development/twrp-t3583413 and in OP you'll find in Rooting Methods other 2 packages; SuperSU and Custom SuperSU. Personally i didn't tried them, but they works. Oh, instructions for flashing are there too. Before doing everything, flash the Magisk Uninstaller that you can find in developer's thread in OP attachments, here https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Why is this phone some wonky with installing **** through recovery?
Installed magisk and don't pass the safetynet. F droid won't give me an option to install adaway.
How the heck do you root this thing.
I'm on crdroid 8.1
Are you using the latest version of Magisk? How did you install it? Do you have the Magisk Manager app installed?
You can install AdAway yourself. Get it here.
I'm on stock Pie and rooted no problem flashing magisk through twrp.
Maybe if you have a pixel it's easier to just stay up to date instead of playing the nerd who always knows better and then complaining that **** doesn't work.
I rooted my A7160 last year using Magisk only, no TWRP, since I couldn't find TWRP for the Exynos chipset. A couple days ago I dumbly let Magsik update to v22.1, which removed Magisk Hide, an essential for me. I want to downgrade Magisk, but haven't yet found a way to do so without TWRP.
First, does anyone know of a way to downgrade Magisk without TWRP? I've tried restoring my Titanium Backup of Manager, but that prompts me to download and install the full Magisk, which will leave me with the new Magisk. I also tried fresh install of the 7.5.1 Magisk Manager app, which only lets me install 22.1.
Second, is there any work on or anyone willing to work on TWRP or other custom recovery for the Exynos chipset (A7160)?
Third, is there any other way to hide root? A brief search did not yield anything promising yet.
Thanks in advance!

FYI Update for others' reference: I got what I needed with Zygisk and DenyList, so should be OK without downgrading. If I need to downgrade, I realized an option that may work: re-flashing the previously-used patched boot.img.
