fastboot and recovery are ok
does device switch off automatically in fastboot mode ?
I think problem is battery discharged completely and it is not charging

Phone dropped ≠ bricked, it seems more like phone dropped = phone damaged.

thanks for the observation.

try to reflash full fastboot rom....
and I dropped mine from waist high twice, and its flipped mid-air high enough before thudded on concrete.... slipped thru my hand...
first time landed on screen-down - second time it landed on its back....
lucky there's no damage at all....

Hi,
I have the same problem, but the phone is charging normally...
Phone fell from about 30 cm (with screen to the floor) and turned off. Since then I'm unable to turn it on. I have mi logo, then mi logo with android sign, I feel a vibration and screen turns black. Buttons are flashing for about 10-20 seconds and phone turns off.
I'm unable to flash it with miflash (it's locked and even the global/chinese rom doesn't suit). I tried with wipe and chinese pc suite, but nothing helps.
Edit: OK, it was charging normally I think, but for now it's stuck on 59% and doesn't charge at all...

No, I don't have one. But my firmware doesn't support deep flashing anymore.

Hard brick
Hi,
After installing EU.Rom, my MI5s Plus turned into hard brick. Nothing works anymore. It does show in device manager, but that´s it. Also not noticed in MI Flash Tool.
In CMD (ADB and Fastboot) it says "device not attached". I have read about Deep Flash, but have no idea how to use this or where to buy it.
Can anyone help me out here? Thanks a lot.

[Q] Screen won't turn on.

I've been running the latest CM10 M release for a couple weeks now. Today I upgraded to the latest modems. Everything was working great for a few hours when my phone randomly shut off and now won't turn back on.
I've tried pulling the battery and charging. Can't ever see anything on the screen although it does vibrate sometimes when I hold the power button. LED will turn on when charging.
Any ideas or suggestions?
See if you're able to boot straight into download or recovery, thus will show intact boot and recovery systems.
One other test, pull battery and with phone off plug into your PC if it shows a red light its likely hard bricked.
I had the unfortunate experience of flashing wrong kernel and bricked my phone was not going to recovery or download. However if you can get to these then it may be a soft brick and restore with odin

Once my phone got stuck because I flashed a new recovery that wasn't compatible with my phone so each time I tried to boot into recovery or tried to turn on the phone nothing would happen. The only thing that got my phone working again was to go into download mode (Odin) by holding power, volume down and home buttona and than canceling it. from there the Rom started working again. I don't know if it will help in your case but you can always try.
That was a strange experience. Left it plugged in for a few hours. Came back, and was able to boot normally... although the battery was extremely low despite being plugged in for a few hours. No problems since then.
Congrats =)
Seems like disaster was avoided.

Moto G won't turn on :(

Hey guys, something happened to my Moto G this morning and now it won't turn on. This has happened to me previously as well where the battery drained and charging it sorted the problem out.
But this time the battery was fully charged and now it won't turn on, neither does the screen light up when I connect it to the charger (with the 0% battery logo).
Something to note - I got an update from the play store for Motorola Boot Services. My phone restarted once and showed me the new boot animation (World Cup). Then it just went dead. Not sure if this has to do something with it.
I was running stock with an unlocked bootloader, root and twrp. XT1033 dual SIM.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. Any way to at least get the phone back to stock so I can take it back to Motorola.

The phone just won't turn on. Not even bootloader mode. Strangely the phone feels warm as if it is being used. I'm going to let it stay and hopefully it will completely drain out and then I'll try charging it.

Try again, with the device connected to the charger. This should perform a reset and a force boot, so it's just like removing the battery, If no luck, try to recover your bootloader by following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2623587
Press power and volume down keys for about 30-45 seconds and then release. This will turn of the device and then reboot to bootloader automatically. If this doesnt work, it should be a problem with the screen.
I've updated my boot services today and it didn't cause any trouble so far.
My advice is to leave it for few hours on the charger if it's really showing the charging picture and it shows 0% there.

Sudden Death Z3

Hello all,
For some strange reason my phone died on me friday, the last time i saw it on was while updating.
It wasn't charging at the time so i thought maybe the battery ran out, but when i connected it with the charger my phone wouldn't boot correctly.
My Z3 was in a bootloop, it could still be detected by my pc but i couldn't do anything due the fact it was turning off and on all the time.
I tried to enter recovery mode but it instantly restarted itself...
Pc Companion wasn't detecting my phone so i couldn't use that.
since my phone did get repaired already (my screen broke) i could manually disconnect the battery but that didn't work either, i tried a new battery too but to no succes.
I also tried all the button combinations, the only mode i could enter was fastboot mode (blue led) and it would stay on but still no sign of a normal booting process.
The yellow button near the sdcard slot didn't work either.
When i put my phone to charge at the wallsocket the led stays red and it won't reboot all the time, but after 15 minutes the red led disappears and it seems like the phone isn't charging at all.
Today it got worse, my pc can't detect my phone anymore and the bootloop stopped too, the led stays red when charging (usb and wallsocket) but after some time the led disappears.
I can't enter fastboot mode anymore.. plainly said; nothing works anymore.
Anyone knows how to fix this problem?
Sony doesn't want to repair it for me since i fixed my screen externally so i hope for solution
I had a similar behavior on a Xperia T when my battery was deeply discarged.
There was No way to load the battery inside the phone.
The phone has to start the bootloader or something like a "mini kernel" (dunno how it is called exactly) to start the loading sequence.
If you are under the -normally not reachable- minimum volatge (under normal conditions phone turns off before) there is too less juice to turn on the booloader and start the loading.
In my case I opened the phone put out the battery and charged it directly with a power supply by wire.
For me it worked.
I see you write that you tried other battery was this one full for sure.?

I assume that you know that... but nevertheless
I advise you to be very careful with li-ion batterys the
are very sensitive with charging voltage.
There are some tutorials on youtube but do it on your
own risk I´m not responsible for anything...just saying.
Edit: for safety...I think it would be good to try to load the
li-ion battery only that much that it has enough power
to boot in the loading state...then put the battery back in the
phone and load it the normal way.
I wish you a succsessful charging let me know if it worked.
good luck :fingers-crossed:

blocked on black screen

Hello,
Ive tried to look for a similar situation in other thread but each case is different so i open a new one.
This morning, when i took my idol 3 the screen did not switch off when pressing power button. I thought it was battery but when i plugged charger, nothing happened except the led is on continuously. I kept power button pressed for 10 seconds. The phone vibrates shortly but still a black screen, no sound and no reaction from the touch panel. Power+vol+ did not led me to my twrp recovery. What can i do now to get it work again? The phone is rooted with Rom Eu 4.2 from murigny64 and it is the first time i encounter this issu. Thanks in advance for helping me
Tonight i disconnected the battery for about 30min then connect it again. Then i tried to start in recovery: Just a vibration but no display and no sound. I unplugged/plugged the battery again and try to start. Same problem. What the hell could happen? Maybe a deffective hardware
Insist on boot ( normal or in to recovery with vol + and power).
That is a hardware brick.
Happened to me to some times, insist, it will unbrick

Can be, can be to... To bad if is battery.
But still trying to boot, is very difficult to.
.
thank you for advise but it's still not working. I spend about 30 minutes trying different combination of button: power pressed until it vibrate, power+vol up, power+vol down, power+vol up & down, discontinuous press of power with charger and no charger....and so on. Its a complete failure.
If it is the battery, there was no sign of weakness before (short life, random shutoff, ....) . It happen suddenly: I lock my screen before sleeping and the next morning no way to switch it on again.
I thought I would avoid problems for long with a twrp recovery, a backup and adb tools on my pc.....but for hardware issues its useless.
How can I be sure it is battery before purchasing another one ?

If it was the screen the touch panel would work and i could sense vibration when typing the pin code no?
The led bright continuously when i plug instead of flashing slowly as it used to do when charging. That why i think its battery.
...and when i start in recovery the phone is not detected on my pc
That's hardware brick. Don't give up, try to boot, normally or in recovery, keep trying it will boot.
Have you tried to open the phone and disconnect battery? Custom ROMs made me similar issue a few times.

Therefore the back can be dismantle and we can access battery and that s what i did.
Yes i disconnected it for several hours and pluged it again but it gave me the same result. And now it doesnt vibrate anymore when i keep the power button pressed a while.
I purchased a battery on internet and im waiting for delivery to test if im right or not. Il feedback about the test.
Anyway its nice from you to look for any solution. Thanks

I think i choose the good connection: This is the one over the battery with 6 wires: 2 red, 2 white and 1 black (see picture attached). I just left it with a small screwdriver to disconnect.

Hello,
I received the new battery today.
So i unpacked it, i unplugged the old one and plugged the new one ...and guess what happened......the same bevahiour as with the old battery: when i press the button power, it vibrate but it doesnt start neither in recovery nor in normal mode.
I just precise that the new battery is charged at 50%........:crying:
So the problem is not the battery but it was the only thing i could test by myself before sending the phone to alcatel for repair.
Im still wondering what could happen to my idol 3: It had been woking perfectly for months and one morning with no warning, it refuse to switch on. Ok sorry for annoying us and hope it wont happen with yours.
I hope alacatel will apply the guarantee although the phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked....because its a hardware issue i think.
Hello,
Just to conclude. The phone got back from repair after 10 days. They have changed motherboard, battery and also the back that was damaged. Its a brand new phone .

Is my phone dead after falling on the floor, need confirmation.

Hey guys,
After two years of constant care, it happened... the drop of death.
A perfect hit on the floor, screen first, perfectly parralel to the stone floor, with the neat "Poc!" sound... :crying:
My phone now does not turns on. Does not vibrate when I plug it and the computer does not detect it.
That's a perfect brick.
I disassembled it and re-assembled, in case of there was a loose piece or cable, but without success.
Is there any chance that it's only the screen, or is it, as I suspect, the end of my beloved OPO?
Thanks for your advice.

Well well well.... small update.
The phone is finally partially alive.
I just tested to plug it without the battery in and.... I had the small vibration and OnePlus boot logo. But of course, as no battery, the screen turns black right after.
But.....
If i plug the battery in, the phone will turn on (I did not say Android booted ).
But only if:
- I plugged once without battery, then unplug
- I put the battery back in place
- Then I re-plug the USB cable
Following this, I can:
- Enter TWRP (fully functional, I can backup my rom, wipe caches, etc... and all the buttons I tested were OK, touchscreen seems fine) / (Vol down + plug)
- Within TWRP, ADB sees my phone as an unauthorized device.
But I can't:
- Enter Fastboot mode (Vol Up + plug)
- Boot the phone up:
- Even within TWRP, reboot does not work
- As long as the battery is in, if I power off the phone, it won't turn on again until I remove the battery and do the first plug trick first.
So there is hope!!
Can it be the battery?
If I am on TWRP (with both USB cable and battery plugged) and unplug the USB, the screen stays on, but becomes unresponsive and only removing the battery can turn the phone off.
Or is the phone somehow bricked on a software standpoint? And can be unbricked?
Side note, when I first plugged the phone and it turned on, on the Computer, it installed a driver called "Care Suite Emergency Connectivity"

No, just tried out without battery. I did but that's tricky. Once you remove the battery, you really need to push the power button first before plugging in the cable, seems the mother board needs to discharged in some way first.
I called a repair shop, the battery might be faulty and put the mobo in security mode... But as I can't access fastboot mode, they said it could be a part of the phone's ROM which is damaged.
Any way to use adb through TWRP to try to dump all partitions to see if any of them are damaged?

Display works perfectly fine at least under TWRP.
The problem is somewhere else, maybe on battery or ROM (not the OS)

Quick update.
There must be a problem with the mobo.
I ordered a new battery that arrived today.
With the new battery, the phone boots up Android, but after some time, it freezes completely.
If it does not freeze and if I try to power it off or reboot, it just shuts down and will never reboot unless I do the battery trick again (remove and put back in place).
SIM is recognized but I don't have network.
I did not manage to get a GPS fix.
Fastboot works, I flashed the stock LOS 13.1 image. But it did not change to the freezing behaviour, and even under fastboot, a "fastboot reboot" just powers off the phone.
That's frustrating!!!
I think it's dead for good. The only reason I see for such a strange behaviour is a shortcut somewhere on the MOBO, maybe a damaged soldering.

No, but I discussed with two of them on the phone.
Considering the price of the phone, it's not worst anymore to repair PCB if it can be.
I will go for a Oneplus 3 I think. There is an auction ending on eBay soon and it's still at 170€... And with the 5T coming out, there will be a lot of other good options in the coming weeks.
I have the Oneplus 3 now... Thanks @Mr.Ak and see you guys!!
