Is my phone dead after falling on the floor, need confirmation. - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
After two years of constant care, it happened... the drop of death.
A perfect hit on the floor, screen first, perfectly parralel to the stone floor, with the neat "Poc!" sound... :crying:
My phone now does not turns on. Does not vibrate when I plug it and the computer does not detect it.
That's a perfect brick.
I disassembled it and re-assembled, in case of there was a loose piece or cable, but without success.
Is there any chance that it's only the screen, or is it, as I suspect, the end of my beloved OPO?
Thanks for your advice.

Anyways,I'd recommend you to get it checked from a professional repair shop. There're chances that you might only need display to fix your device.

Well well well.... small update.
The phone is finally partially alive.
I just tested to plug it without the battery in and.... I had the small vibration and OnePlus boot logo. But of course, as no battery, the screen turns black right after.
But.....
If i plug the battery in, the phone will turn on (I did not say Android booted ).
But only if:
- I plugged once without battery, then unplug
- I put the battery back in place
- Then I re-plug the USB cable
Following this, I can:
- Enter TWRP (fully functional, I can backup my rom, wipe caches, etc... and all the buttons I tested were OK, touchscreen seems fine) / (Vol down + plug)
- Within TWRP, ADB sees my phone as an unauthorized device.
But I can't:
- Enter Fastboot mode (Vol Up + plug)
- Boot the phone up:
- Even within TWRP, reboot does not work
- As long as the battery is in, if I power off the phone, it won't turn on again until I remove the battery and do the first plug trick first.
So there is hope!!
Can it be the battery?
If I am on TWRP (with both USB cable and battery plugged) and unplug the USB, the screen stays on, but becomes unresponsive and only removing the battery can turn the phone off.
Or is the phone somehow bricked on a software standpoint? And can be unbricked?
Side note, when I first plugged the phone and it turned on, on the Computer, it installed a driver called "Care Suite Emergency Connectivity"

No, just tried out without battery. I did but that's tricky. Once you remove the battery, you really need to push the power button first before plugging in the cable, seems the mother board needs to discharged in some way first.
I called a repair shop, the battery might be faulty and put the mobo in security mode... But as I can't access fastboot mode, they said it could be a part of the phone's ROM which is damaged.
Any way to use adb through TWRP to try to dump all partitions to see if any of them are damaged?

Display works perfectly fine at least under TWRP.
The problem is somewhere else, maybe on battery or ROM (not the OS)

Quick update.
There must be a problem with the mobo.
I ordered a new battery that arrived today.
With the new battery, the phone boots up Android, but after some time, it freezes completely.
If it does not freeze and if I try to power it off or reboot, it just shuts down and will never reboot unless I do the battery trick again (remove and put back in place).
SIM is recognized but I don't have network.
I did not manage to get a GPS fix.
Fastboot works, I flashed the stock LOS 13.1 image. But it did not change to the freezing behaviour, and even under fastboot, a "fastboot reboot" just powers off the phone.
That's frustrating!!!
I think it's dead for good. The only reason I see for such a strange behaviour is a shortcut somewhere on the MOBO, maybe a damaged soldering.

No, but I discussed with two of them on the phone.
Considering the price of the phone, it's not worst anymore to repair PCB if it can be.
I will go for a Oneplus 3 I think. There is an auction ending on eBay soon and it's still at 170€... And with the 5T coming out, there will be a lot of other good options in the coming weeks.

I have the Oneplus 3 now... Thanks @Mr.Ak and see you guys!!

Help! Stuck at Splash Screen / Battery damage?

Hello ppl,
since 2 days I've got a big problem with my Polas (at all XDA Orbit 2)
Ok first the bad story. My device did take a little shower and had water in it, which seems to be dried out now.
First, you all should think there is nothing to rescue here anymore.
BUT after the first problems (i will tell you some lines below), later on my device got working again. It worked for nearly a whole day.
And then the same problems as before came back again and now I'm stuck on it.
Here is the scenario:
- Without Power Plug: I turn on the device. It boots up as always. When boot is finished and coming to Windows Mobile, the device tells me "low power" and shuts off directly
- With Power Plug: I turn on the device. Showing the o2 Splash Screen. And that's it. Not even the ROM Version Numbers are showing up. When I take out the Plug after a while, XDA just turns off. Oh and the orange LED is lightened.
I can also plug it in while the XDA is off and it shows the orange LED, so you should think it's getting power.
But it doesn't when I try it afterwards without the Plug.
When I boot up without the plug, and plug it in after the Splash Screen, it's the same behaviour as on the scenario "Without Power Plug", it doesn't recognize that the plug is in or is not getting power I don't know.
So why was it working for one day? I don't get it!
You think that maybe only the battery is damaged? But why was it working?
I hope this text is not too confusing and maybe somebody is able to help.
I'm dying without my lovely device.
Oh and yes, i did try a hard reset.
I think the biggest problem for me is, that the device doesn't boot when the plug is in. That is totally weird from my perspective.
Thanks in advance!
gmc
Weird! I am able to flash the ROM. But still the same ;( What the hell?
While flashing the ROM there was no sign of a not working battery.
I'm confused!
Update: Re-Flashed O2 Rom and also tried udK Diamond. Flash is always successful but behaviour doesn't change or get fixed ;(( This can't be true.
Well one question... when the version numbers show up on the Splash Screen what is the "G"-Number? It looks a bit weird, "25.69.30.05H"
Maybe that part of the ROM is down?

Don't know how/if others managed to solve it but in my case only the replacement of my motherboard (under warranty) solved it.

[Q] Nexus 5 Dead

Hi everyone, so yesterday I got home, and like everyday I dropped it on the wireless charger. After about 2 hours I took it and it has turned off itself and doesn't react to my button presses or anything. I tried holding Power, Power+Vol Up, Power+Down, Power+Vol up+Vol down, charged it overnight but it still doesn't work. Is there anything else left to do? (Bootloader is unlocked, twrp recovery + franco kernel and stock fw, it was working for like 2 weeks with no crashes).
If you've already tried holding the power button for 20 seconds it sounds like rma is the answer.
Does your computer recognizing your phone?
It does not, the phone isn't turned on, how could computer recognize it? (btw. The phone takes the power from the wall it seems, cause the power cord gives a noise when only it's pluged in without cable to the phone, then I can take it out, it still makes noise, and if i plug the phone into it, it stops making the noise)

It can recognize a phone even if it's not turned on,as adb,and then you can flash recovery, kernel and etc, using fastboot commands.
So go to device manager and see if recognized as adb,if yes, you're good to go,and try to flash stock rom and recovery.
Also you can try to reboot into bootloader using fastboot reboot command.

Ah yes,my bad, sorry. Also, when you took, didn't you notice that it's hot or something like that? Because I've read on the internet that wireless charging can make devices to overheat.

Yes, 2 times it was hot, but not yesterday. When I took it, it wasn't cold or hot, the same as normal phone would be.
Oh, and one more thing. When I hold power button it makes noise like this: h\ttp\s://w\ww.dropbox.c\o\m\/s/d3e0rqtlzm7x2ig/N5noise.mp3 (Remove all the \ from the link)
Barely hearable so I just accidentally noticed it.
Anyways, I'll go for the RMA. One more question, I really doubt it's possible but I will ask. is there a way to transfer all files from the phone if it's not responding to anything?

If your sending it to google, then you don't have to worry. However, your device is fully dead, right? They will most probably swap the mobo or just send you a refurbished piece.

Dead Nexus 5?

I just got this very neatly used 32GB Nexus 5 and on arrival yesterday afternoon it worked well except for the reboot problem the seller indicated. I flashed stock all over and rooted and installed ElementalX kernel for tap to wake and everything was going well, until last night when it just up and died on me. I thought maybe the battery was drained and I plugged it on the charger. It wasn't charging so I left it overnight. On waking up the phone is still dead. Doesn't charge, doesn't boot, nothing. I've opened it up, disassembled it to check all the parts, and everything looks fine. I also tested the battery by touching the tip of my tongue to the connector and I got the normal tingy feeling indicating the battery still has juice in it. I also checked the two LDIs and they are all still white; no water damage. I'm just at my wit's end now and considering getting another motherboard if that would fix it, but I just want to ask if there is any hope through any kind of fix before I commit to getting a new motherboard.
It might be that ?

IF you press power and the volume buttons and connect it to computer, did you have in device manager something?
If it was something like QHSUSB ... you can try that (it use and LG debuging software who reflash the nexus all at stock like in the factory) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...-unbrick-nexus-5-stucked-qualcomm-hs-t3043301
If not it was possible that the EMMC is dead

I tried that but nothing comes up in Device Manager at all. The computer does not detect the phone in any way at all too. I think the motherboard is dead. I ordered another working Nexus 5 with a broken screen on ebay to use and swap out the motherboard.
Thanks for your replies. I appreciate it.

blocked on black screen

Hello,
Ive tried to look for a similar situation in other thread but each case is different so i open a new one.
This morning, when i took my idol 3 the screen did not switch off when pressing power button. I thought it was battery but when i plugged charger, nothing happened except the led is on continuously. I kept power button pressed for 10 seconds. The phone vibrates shortly but still a black screen, no sound and no reaction from the touch panel. Power+vol+ did not led me to my twrp recovery. What can i do now to get it work again? The phone is rooted with Rom Eu 4.2 from murigny64 and it is the first time i encounter this issu. Thanks in advance for helping me
Tonight i disconnected the battery for about 30min then connect it again. Then i tried to start in recovery: Just a vibration but no display and no sound. I unplugged/plugged the battery again and try to start. Same problem. What the hell could happen? Maybe a deffective hardware
Insist on boot ( normal or in to recovery with vol + and power).
That is a hardware brick.
Happened to me to some times, insist, it will unbrick

Can be, can be to... To bad if is battery.
But still trying to boot, is very difficult to.
.
thank you for advise but it's still not working. I spend about 30 minutes trying different combination of button: power pressed until it vibrate, power+vol up, power+vol down, power+vol up & down, discontinuous press of power with charger and no charger....and so on. Its a complete failure.
If it is the battery, there was no sign of weakness before (short life, random shutoff, ....) . It happen suddenly: I lock my screen before sleeping and the next morning no way to switch it on again.
I thought I would avoid problems for long with a twrp recovery, a backup and adb tools on my pc.....but for hardware issues its useless.
How can I be sure it is battery before purchasing another one ?

If it was the screen the touch panel would work and i could sense vibration when typing the pin code no?
The led bright continuously when i plug instead of flashing slowly as it used to do when charging. That why i think its battery.
...and when i start in recovery the phone is not detected on my pc
That's hardware brick. Don't give up, try to boot, normally or in recovery, keep trying it will boot.

Therefore the back can be dismantle and we can access battery and that s what i did.
Yes i disconnected it for several hours and pluged it again but it gave me the same result. And now it doesnt vibrate anymore when i keep the power button pressed a while.
I purchased a battery on internet and im waiting for delivery to test if im right or not. Il feedback about the test.

Hello,
I received the new battery today.
So i unpacked it, i unplugged the old one and plugged the new one ...and guess what happened......the same bevahiour as with the old battery: when i press the button power, it vibrate but it doesnt start neither in recovery nor in normal mode.
I just precise that the new battery is charged at 50%........:crying:
So the problem is not the battery but it was the only thing i could test by myself before sending the phone to alcatel for repair.
Im still wondering what could happen to my idol 3: It had been woking perfectly for months and one morning with no warning, it refuse to switch on. Ok sorry for annoying us and hope it wont happen with yours.
I hope alacatel will apply the guarantee although the phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked....because its a hardware issue i think.
Hello,
Just to conclude. The phone got back from repair after 10 days. They have changed motherboard, battery and also the back that was damaged. Its a brand new phone .

Black screen boot loop

I was trying to root this phone so I unlocked the bootloader.
I went on twrp and selected A9 only to realize after I flashed that there is a difference between the a9 and a9s and now my phone is just not booting and is stuck in a black screen boot loop.
If I connect it to a computer it will connect for just a second then disconnect which makes me believe it is not 100% dead
What happens is that it will vibrate connect to the computer for around a few seconds then it will disconnect and then 10 seconds later vibrate again and repeat.
Model is 2pwd200
I cannot do anything such as get into bootloader or download mode. I even tried adb and fastboot but no connection
I've had a bootloop like that before. For me it worked to power-off with volume button up + power. Then power-on with volume button down + power. I was able to get into download mode that way and flash the right boot.img (in my case...)

Doesn't unlocking the bootloader void the warranty?
So if I send mine in, would they charge me any money for it or should i live with the fact that i turned the phone into an expensive vibrator?..

With the live chat person they i told them that it just stopped coming on and it only came on sometimes, I asked them what would void the warranty and they said broken screen or liquid damage. I never told them that the bootloader was unlocked. They did say that if there was physical damage to the device they would charge me £27 for it but there isn't so I am going to ship it tomorrow.

I managed to find a way. Every time I plugged the phone into the power adapter, the phone only vibrated every 23 seconds. I decided to leave it for a few days to complete exhaustion and after connecting the power supply for about 2 minutes blinking orange LED. After 3 minutes the phone normally switched on. However, when I tried to restore the factory settings again, I had a black screen. I left the phone again for two days and this time I prepared a SD card with the image from the link:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0r...g5UkZucWc/view
I changed the file name to 2PWDIMG.zip
I started it with the VOL- key and loaded the image. After flash everything works fine.
PS.
Every time the first time I started the phone, the touch screen did not work, I had to restart my phone and then the touch was working. After flash image everything is ok.
This may help you.

So they sent the phone back and it is in fully working condition, they relocked the bootloader for me as well and they seemed to have also replaced the frame which had some scratches on it.
