Yes. You'll also want to 'untamper' it.

That's a philosophical question. Unlocking the bootloader may have voided your warranty. Just because you re-lock it doesn't magically bring with it a new warranty.

Not new warranty.. I'm asking can I take my phone back to the lg store for repairs when it is in warranty ?or will they not accept it saying your warranty is void ..I want to put cm11 and that would require both unlocking boot loader rooting the device ..so ..noob here ..help ..thanks
If a bootloader in the forest is unlocked and then relocked, and nobody sees, was it really ever unlocked?

I knew there was script/binary for resetting the tamper flag, but I didn't realize there was an actual app for it. I'm surprised Google allows such an app on the Play Store.

We can argue semantics all day long. The bottom line is, if you're having a problem with your phone, as long as it's not caused by your third-party modifications, they should honor your warranty. Now should you damage your phone or render it inoperable in the process of modding, they absolutely won't cover that under the warranty, as they shouldn't. This is a risk you take when you choose to mod your phone, so absolutely do your due dilligence and proceed with utmost caution when using third-party modifications.

True as stated above, except for one exception if you hard brick your phone, there is no way for them to determine that your phone had the boot loader unlocked. Just requesting the unlock code is not evidence enough that it was unlocked, just that you requested the code. I had done that in the past requested a code and not ever used it because root became available and I found out about loosing DRM keys etc.

Is root without unlock possible?

I just wondered as a new Honor user wether root without unlocking the bootloader was possible, or if anyone is looking into to it at all?
Perhaps dirtycow or other ways?
Thanks in advance
I think that this is not currently possible. But the return of the original factory state is not a problem, see this topic here & here.
why do you even want to root without unlocking??whn unlocking is the easeier one than rooting...:good:

u should unlock but don't warry almost 90% of country's unlocking will not void warranty for huawei policies
Warranty issues and letting HW know that I've unlocked the bootloader.
Coming from Sony's previously you would lose DRM info for the camera and screen and audio tech if you unlocked without saving a TA partition.
Asume thats not the same with HW and its only a matter of them refusing to support you if you unlock?

Pretty sure he knows that. That is why we're interested in rooting the phone WITHOUT unlocking it...

How to set "locked" again the bootloader after unlock?

Hi guys, I've unlocked the bootloader, then I tried to lock it again, but now BL is set on "RELOCKED" and not on "LOCKED".
So, I think, in case I've to send my phone in warranty, I will have problems!
So, the question is: how can I set again in "LOCKED" the bootloader?
Thank you so much!
Did you not use the unlock code provided by Huawei? Otherwise, they already know you voided the warranty.

There is no way if you did it with the 16 digit code. It will be only relock and no lock. Had you used the other way of unlocking, you may have locked it again. Whats the requirements, only to regain warranty?

Yeah, I've requested the code, but it doesn't mean nothing: I Can request it but it doesn't mean that I have to use it! ^_^
Is there a way to set on "locked" the bootloader?
I knew about dc-unlocker, a payware program.. Does It works?

Don't worry. Unless you run into something very critical you wont need it..even though if you go to service centre, not all cares for bootloader.

Yes unlocking the bootloader does void warranty.
Motorola rarely enforces it, and will fix or replace if there was a manufacturer problem.

I have the screen that already tends to green on greyish colors so I'm afraid that by unlocking the BL then maybe when I decide to send it to assistance, they won't recognize the damage
