Device Maintenance app - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hello my fellow S8+ owners! The device maintenance app that is in the settings menu keeps telling me that some apps are slowing down my phone and to press "Fix Now" to put those apps to sleep. However, every time I have done that it will go through the process and even when it displays the maintenance score of 100 it still shows the same message. It's not a huge deal I know but it annoys the hell out of me that there could be some app running in the background slowing down my phone. If anyone has any suggestions to solve this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

When you in device maintenance click on memory wait for all running apps to load and click clean now. Same with battery

I was actually able to fix it a short time ago. I had to go into the app manager and clear the data for the device manager app and restart it. It must have been a bug of some kind. All is good now though. Thanks for the input anyways though!

Ironic that the device maintenance app tells you how to speed up your device but itself is a memory hog and disabling it will help your device more than using it

Interesting... I haven't noticed an appreciable lag (yet) but would be interested to know what alternative(s) you would consider to the stock Device Maintenance app.

I dont use one, I just disable it and use a widget shortcut to access the battery settings, the rest I don't feel I need. And if I decide I do I can just enable, make changes then disable again

T-Mobile has just released Device Tune-up for open beta testing. This is a new feature in the My Accounts app from T-Mobile. It’s essentially a task killer that aims to improve on your phones performance and it should help your battery last longer by killing apps that run in the background.

Background:
T-Mobile is continually looking for ways to bring new innovation to our customers. Within the My Account application, we are adding new functionality in the My Device section called Device Tune-up. Device Tune-up is built to run in the background at all times and ‘tune-up’ the device by closing unused services that are running.
Device Tune-up is different from most task killers because it does not require you to do anything. Device Tune-up will default to 'on'. While on, Device Tune-up proactively closes services to help the device and battery perform at their best. Most pre-loaded applications will not be affected by Device Tune-up. For our non-technical users, this may mean you never even realize Device Tune-up is running; your device may simply run better.
Getting Help & Providing Feedback:
Do not contact Customer Care for help or feedback regarding the Device Tune-up Beta.
We are looking for as much feedback as we can get! If you need any help at all, please post any questions, issues or suggestions you have in our Device Tune-up Beta board. We will do our best to help you as quickly as we can.
Requirements:
This beta will work on all T-Mobile Android devices running 2.1 and below. If installed on a device using 2.2, the you may see the My Device BETA icon but you will not have the Device Tune-up functionality.
This beta has not been tested on any devices running custom software outside of T-Mobile approved versions. It is recommended you do not install this beta if you are running a custom ROM.
Ready to get started?
NOTE: This beta has incomplete Spanish translations. If installed on a device using Spanish you will only get some translations.
Thanks for your participation in the BETA!!

[Q] How to increase system RAM?

What's the difference between HTC 'Task Manager' and 'Running Services' Under Application in Settings?
I get the general difference between a task and a service. But is the Ram allocated separately for user and the system?
The Task Manager shows 100mb free while the Running Services in Application shows 229mb.
Which should I trust? And how to free up more ram in task manager? It shows not running app currently, and I just disabled a ton of services from auto startup. Things I dont need.
RAM cannot be increased
@Russell bro check this link out forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1890835
Does it really work??...

@fash1 try using the link I mentioned above .......... It increased my system's ram & speed
Using swap for this phone is useless. This kind of apps are great if you have 256 mb's or below, for pico it is even possible to make it slower than it is now

Dude please change the thread name. It will mislead most of the forum members.
Make it How to increase available system RAM?
Ok now I get what is the idea.
Now there is huuuuge possibility that I'm totally wrong about this but anyway.........
Firstly running services should show, what is currently running and how much ram is free, the task manager should show running services AND cached processes, from there comes the difference. With some kind of task manager you should be able to stop unneeded stuff, or some kind of cleaner (fast reboot for example). If you are using a CM rom in 'developer options' there is 'background process limit' option, so it should do the trick.

Yay! Thanks
And yes the topic was rather misleading. And I am not even on stock. It was just something I was wondering. Guess HTC does not show the processes it needs to keep the ui running. While rebooter and estaskmanager kills all processes in the memory then relaunches the launcher and everything when needed.

[HOW TO] Install Note8 APKs no root

I was at BestBuy today and decided to extract some APKs from the Note8. I can confirm most of these work, like the Camera. If you have that install error factory reset your phone and don't set a screen lock method then install then ASAP. Stuff built for API 25/Android 7.1.1 wont install. Most will though. Don't try installing the keyboard. I will upload this to androidfilehost also.

all that have an icon on your phone. I will type up a list. Most do.
Am I missing something? The download contains about half the apps listed.
Nm, stupid root explorer
I can't get them to install. It goes through the motions but then says app not installed because of an app with the same name.
Any workaround?

Meh, I'm not feeling a factory reset. Took too long to root and get everything setup to factory reset now unless I absolutely had to.
Thanks though.

If it makes you feel any better, I have newer app versions than all these, even touchwiz by downloading from Apkmirror and installing.

And I don't mean to degrade your work. It's appreciated, however there are newer versions elsewhere. Many of these apps are useless to S8 users anyway. I was mainly meaning that statement as a Head up champ, you're not missing out on much.

I know, I plan to keep updating this when I can get the firmware release and keeping this up to date. I am also trying to get the Note8 keyboard to work with live messages. Still working but I got some Overwatch Summer Games to play before I work on that.
TIP: DO NOT install the phone app. While making a call the call connects but it sits at the dialer seem like there's no call going on. I believe it's the phone 1.0 but the app will not uninstall without a factory reset.

So what's the APK called in the package from OP?
We can simply install the apk right?
This works for me on a G955W with the August security patch: whatever Secure Startup is set to, toggle it (i.e. turn it on if it's off and turn it off if it's on), then reboot. Installing APKs over top of system apps works now.
Is there apps that can be installed without factory reset , without package already exist on installation?
Just if someone is able to normally install at least one, can you let me/us know which one ? (to know if its worth to download, for slow internet connection like me) thanks

For huawei mobile, Settings - Battery - Battery usage details, tap the Info icon upper-right corner, you will find a rank for 'Top 4 battery using apps'.
In addition, you can scroll timeline in the chart.
