Setting up wifi calling - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions & Answers

When I"m out of signal range. My s8+ does the wifi calling notification thing. And tries to get me to set it up. WIF ISN'T EVEN TURNED ON. But it constantly notifies me.
I get home. Turn on the wifi to home internet. And try to set it up. But it just sits there thinking. Then it stops. I can't get it set up. And the notifier is getting annoying when i'm out in the boonies.
Is there a way to turn the notifier off. Or get the darn thing setup so it stops notifying. Or do i need to call sprint. To which i can't seem to find a tech support number to call them anymore. And the one number i try. Brings up some app on the phone and says setup can't be completed or something like that.

I cannot make calls with my G2x

This is my second G2x and both have exhibited the same behavior. It will dial a number, whether from the phonebook or the dialer itself, and the phone application will say that it is dialing. After 30 seconds or so, and no ringing on the other end of the line, the call ends itself.
I usually have to enable Airplane mode, then disable it, to be able to make a call. sometimes I have to go as far as rebooting the phone completely after which it may or may not work. Incoming calls fail as well so I am missing quite a few calls and texts...but thhe emails and other data messages come through.
Oddly, data works perfectly regardless of whether the phone is having problems calling. This happens in 2g as well as 4g. I have manually selected 2g and could not call and had the same trouble in WCDMA only mode. I thought it was related to Wifi calling but enabling that has no effect.
Any ideas? I am trying my other line to see if that SIM card is having trouble. I just have no other ideas at this point.

I used to have this problem frequently on my MT3G. Since someone else is having this problem on a different phone, I would guess that it's something software related.
Alright, it is happening on both of my lines. It might be a program that I installed so I am loading them back on one at a time to see if can determine which it is. I am looking at either Google Voice or Beautiful Widgets as likely culprits at this time but there is not certainty. I have also avoided installing Facebook and Twitter. I am able to make calls right now. I will see if this keeps working for the next few hours...maybe through to my morning coffee. I really hope it is an application, something I can do without, because it would be pretty bad if it is the phone. My girl just ordered one of these as well since she likes mine so much.

Happened to me twice today, first in the AM and then again around 2200 central time. i recently started using setcpu so not sure if thats an issue or not. anyone find the app responsible?
Yes, it has happened to me too, usually after it is in standby or idle, and this is my second phone. But my second phone not happens as often as the first one. Reboot is the only way I can get it to work. I notice that the signal is very weak only 1 or 2 bars.
That is a very good point to mention...that it is almost always directly after bringing the phone out of standby. Mine just did it again.
Same problem here. I don't even know how many calls or txts I've missed since.
Had this issue with my N1 and I always chalked it up to cruddy radio and/or coverage. I've since had it on my g2x once or maybe twice I think (had g2x for 3 days now), but at least after it timed out I was able to try again and the call would go through. With my N1 it would never recover unless I toggled airplane mode or sometimes even needed to reboot.
I hope there are some improvements in this area, because bad radio was my biggest gripe with my N1, and i really want to love this phone!

Maybe you're in a roaming zone at work and you have roaming connection disabled. Your home is inside the reception zone which is why everything comes at once?
No, that's not it because I have roaming enabled. Any-other suggestions

Gear S2 call forwarding while remote connected

...works!
This may be something documented somewhere, but I haven't come across it. It may be a "well, of course" sort of thing to some of you, but it wasn't to me.
In short, you can activate/deactivate call forwarding on the phone when connected remotely through wifi or the 3G network. For some reason, I thought you had to have a local BT connection to initiate the requests (dialing sequence), probably because that's how I've always done it.
Well, caught myself away from home without my phone today and thought, I wonder if it works remotely? Isn't any reason it shouldn't. So, I turned on forwarding, and it worked fine. Quite a bit longer wait with the spinning busy indicator on the watch display, but it did indeed invoke the forwarding codes on the phone.
On afterthought, this makes total sense -- that's the most valuable use of this function, of course -- when you've forgotten your phone. Still, it was cool to find that this capability is there, and you don't have to "plan ahead" to forward the phone to your watch.
It ups the value tremendously of the 3G feature.
Hey there, I was just wondering approximately how long did you wait for your "spinning busy indicator" to stop spinning and activate the function.
Thanks so much

That threw me for a loop at first too. It's very quick with a BT connection (for obvious reasons).
All I can say is it takes quite a bit longer, and is not consistent. This is likely because the Samsung server that mediates remote connections is involved: Your S2 sends a request to the server via the internet (data), then the server forwards the request to your phone, again over the internet (data).
What I can tell you is that it only shows the "Requested (<time>)" under Turn On if it succeeds and receives a handshake back from the server. So, I don't both watching it any more... I just invoke it, then check in a minute or two to verify the request was received.
I've never had any problems. My only complaint, and it's very mild, is I wish we could select the forwarding mode. Right now, it forwards when no answer or unavailable (phone off or out of range). I'd like to be able to select "Forward all calls" so callers don't have to wait through 6 rings before it comes to me on the S2.

Several problems with my new S6. Please help.

Hello,
I got an S6 through Verizon. It's unlocked. So I'm using it on Total Wireless. Everything was activated last night and was working great. Then, I wake up this morning to check my phone, and as soon as I lit up the screen ALL of my notifications came through that once. I have it set to always allow notifications on the lock screen, wifi sleep is set to always allow connection even in sleep, and data saver is off. I used to have an Asus Zenfone that would do the same thing if it was connected to a router using IPv6. Are there any fixed or known reasons why the S6 does this?
Secondly, out of nowhere today, my phone stopped sending texts and calls. Data was working on everything EXCEPT Facebook Messenger. So before calling Total Wireless, I tried restarting, power cycling, removing and replacing the SIM, resetting network settings, changing it from Global to LTE/CDMA only, and so much more. I eventually caved and called. The reore had me dial *76 to disable call forwarding, although I never even enabled call forwarding. Would that be the main culprit to the issue that I was experiencing? I mean, randomly not sending texts and calls and saying "searching for service" even though it clearly had full signal of LTE and data was still working sounds pretty odd to me. Any ideas?

I'm having this issue today as well did you ever figure this out ..the call forwarding automatically turning on?

Question Phone app not completing call.

Checking to see if others are having similar experience...go to make a phone call and the phone app ends the call ("Call Ended" across the top) as soon as I press to dial a number or contact. The only way I have found to get a call to go through when this happens is to turn airplane mode on / off again which I guess resets the network connection.
I dont have the best cell reception where I am and use wifi calling too, but it does not seem to make a difference if I am using wifi or not.
