Format sdcard htc one m7 twrp - Android General

Hi, i have an htc m7 and as you know it's got no sd card slot. Now if i browse the internal storage i see a folder named sdcard when all my data is stored. If i wipe data in twrp before flashing, after installing the rom, the data wont get deleted. This time i wanto to delete all data on the sdcard, what option do i choose? Do i select internal storage before wiping? I want to reinstall the rom on a clean phone, without finding my data still there. Thanks

WILL installing a new ROM erase my SD card?

Want to install cynogen mod from my SD card using rom manager, but want to know if this will wipe my SD card? Also, will it wipe my SMS's? I have backed up my SMS's using SMS back up, but if it wipes my SD, it will wipe that app aswell I presume?
Searched everywhere for an answer to this
thanks

No, flashing a new rom will not wipe your SD card.
It will wipe your
/data en /cache section
So only your apps and data of the apps
But not the whole SD Card.
No
It will wipe the old os and all of your contacts
the fise system will not be interacted or changed. Therefore your files will be safe

Wiped Data when Flashing Roms

This is my first tablet and I've always stored my backups on an external card, so using the internal memory on the 300 brings up some questions.
When flashing a rom and wiping data, will that wipe the folders and app data on the internal memory?
Is it best to keep TWRP and Rom Toolbox (app) backups on the external SD card?
I could be wrong here, but before flashing a new (testing AOKP and CM10), I did the 'factory reset' in twrp, as I would normally wipe data & cache before flashing a new rom on my other devices... but it appears that twrp doesn't completely wipe the data partition and some of the app data was still there. Am I wrong or does twrp not touch the internal memory, other than whats in the 'data' folder?
FWIW, I'm doing twrp backups on my SD card, but RTB app backups on internal... but if flashing a new rom will wipe the RTB folder from internal memory, I'll have to start backing up to the SD.
thx for any help/advice.

I think the wipe doesn't touch either the internal or external SD cards. At least that's been my experience with CWM.

[Q] Backing up w/ TWRP ... wiping sd card question

I am use to working with phones that have a removable SD-Card. Since our Note 5 does not have a micro card slot, I have a question.
Using TWRP, when I do a nandroid backup it obviously backs up to the phone SD. If I do a FULL wipe via TWRP (system / data / user / cache) wont it also delete my TWRP backup file located in ..mnt/sdcard/TWRP ?? normally I would backup to the removable SD Card and just format / wipe the internal memory and safely have my nandroid backup on the removable stick for future recovery.
Please advise ??
Also what about a full DATA wipe (/media/data/..) is that safe ?
Thanks

It only wipes internal sdcard if you select that option in twrp.
Wiping system, data, cache and dalvik does not wipe internal sdcard.
If you want to wipe internal sdcard you need to select the option separately.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

Ok ... I am use to checking all the tick boxes so my device is truly clean and all stuff erased. Since twrp was on external SD there was no issues, but now I guess I could just put the nandroid backup onto a flash drive via OTG, then I could wipe entire internal and restore from external by mounting the external device huh .. how about if I chose format data ( /media/data/.. ) is internal safe then also ?
Thanks !

Where to save you ROM file?

Sorry, I suspect this will be a stupid question....
I'm just flashing a new ROM on my S6 and it's the first time I've tried it. The instructions say to copy the ROM file to the phone and then go in to TWRP and wipe everything. Would the ROM file not get deleted then too? Is there a specific place I should save it to?
Thanks
Hi, save the file to your internal storage (downloaded files to the phone should automatically be saved to the folder "Downloads" witch is already the internal storage)
When you go to twrp to wipe, select advanced wipe and just make sure you don't check the internal storage

Contents of internal storage (sdcard) missing after wipe...

My problem as it stands:
TWRP 2.8.6.0 is installed
The Pure XL will boot, load all the way into android, and load all the built in apps.
I cannot install apps, and the google play store sits in a downloading loop.
The internal storage is empty save for a twrp folder. I can still read and write to the internal storage via twrp
I believe what I have done is erase all the contents of the internal storage.
Factory resets with the 3-15-2016 OTA update does not restore these folders/files.
Biggest issue: THIS IS MY WIFE'S PHONE AND SHE WILL KILL ME IF I CAN'T FIX IT.
Was wondering if one you fine fellow/ladies would upload a copy on the internal storage folders and files from a clean install of the 3-15-2016 OTA update so that I can attempt to copy them manually into my internal storage.
I would also take any help in restoring these files myself if a straight copy of the files isn't an option.
Any help will be appreciated!
