open your phone dial ##3282#[this is field test mode] you can check your phone supporting 4g bands and enable LTE
Now working
The action is incomplete with ##3282#.
Is it valid code?
Also how to enable then LTE?
For my Lumia 820 with Windows 8.1 seems to work as it follows:
1. Go to "Settings" and then look for "Network Selection"
2. Select "automatic" from available network (do select again eventhough if you already have it as "automatic" initially)
This reverted me back to the Data connection to highest available network like E or 3G or 4G. But for me it doesn´t last too long as I could't try it in a 4G area.
Solution found in WindowsCentral by jagadeshkv. I'm too new to post links.

Good afternoon,
(ROGERS only) Thx to redpoint73 for pointing it out.
I've been seeing a lot of people wondering if LTE can be toggled off. In fact you can do it manually within the service menu.
To access the Service Menu from your HOX go to your dialer press
*#*#4636#*#*
This will bring up a selection of 4 choices. The one that were interested in is the first one called "Phone information", select it.
If you scroll down gently and go to the section called "Set Preferred network type" this will allow you to select the network type you want. In this case it should currently be set to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto" which enabled the LTE by default. Since I wanted to simply be on the most available Network (4G) I selected WCDMA preferred.
There you have it I've now toggle LTE off entirely.
Cheers!
It should be noted that this only works on the Rogers version. AT&T has their One X locked to "auto".

I unlocked my AT&T One X, and it appears I now have the ability to select which band. I have a T-Mobile sim in it now, and when I selected "LTE Only", I don't get service and can't make calls(obviously).
Hello,
I recently bought a At&t HTX one X. It has a Unlocked Bootloader and i have also unlocked it so that i can use it with other Service Providers. But i found out that the 4g is always on and when i go into the network setting, the option Data Roaming is disabled.
I am loosing a lot of money because of this.
Under the mobile Network Settings i can only see 3 options .
1. Data Roaming [This option is disabled]
2. Access Point Names
3.Network operators
Can somebody please help me with finding a solution to get 4g disabled?
Thanks in advance
Go to dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#*. Go to phone information, and pick wcdma preferred.
Sent from my One XL
ok cool.. now i see 4 options
1. Phone information
2. Battery information
3. Usage statistics
4. Wifi information
I went to phone information : - set the preferred network type as GSM only
Now i can see the 4g symbol disabled... great
But now i see the "E" symbol on.
How do i get rid of that ?
"GSM only" is this the right option i selected ?
more info
WCDMA preferred option is keeping the 4g active. i am a GSM user so tried GSM only and it worked. but the E symbol is still on.
4g = hspa (3.5g) 4g LTE = LTE
So wcdma preferred = cell and 3g
GSM/wcdma/lte = cell, 3g, LTE

This doesn't work on the AT&T version (and stock ROM), it will just go back to the default setting.
Only way to really shut it off is to flash a ROM with the LTE toggle.
thanks redpoint. can u suggest me a link where i can get step by step instructions to the rom you are referring to.
this has to get asked atleast 5 times a week since the phone came out
Dear All,
I am having issue of Network selection on my LG G3 D850.
1st of All sorry for my English.
Intro of Phone
Phone is rooted and Lollipop stock rom installed.
My Network is Zong (Pakistan) Frequencies are following
3G = 2100
4G = 1800
Issues
At start Network mode setting was not available under mobile network but now after changing ro.build.target_operator ATT to OPEN i got these setting in Network menu but now.
1. 3G not working in this cell phone my network frequency is 2100 and this cell phone also support this but why this is not working,
I have tried to check and change WCDMA mode it is showing 850 as selected but when i try to select the 2100 message show Fail.
2. Not switch automatically to LTE/4G (but some time after restart), when i select LTE/4G by selecting Manually LTE/4G network from manual searched Network list or after restart, Cell Phone unable to receive any phone call, caller receive message like cell phone switched or unable to reach or out of coverage etc,
3. when i dial *#*#4636#*#* after opening the Menu and selecting the Phone Information this application show message "this application dose not work on this device" and it close this menu.
No issue on 2G.
I also have tried Intelli3G but it was not working on KK or i dont know how to use it now i have LP I am not able to install Xposed i have installed the different version but not working i also flash a zip file which was working on Xperia Z1 but my Cell phone Rom got issues (All time message show LGSmartwatch (or something like that) stop working), so i again install LP on device.

Hi
I just got an HTC U11 (128 GB/6 GB) and I updated it to the latest Android Oreo Software No: 2.33.401.19 /Stock No Root
And after update I deleted cash and hard reset the device.
My problem is 4G network drop ....... when I go to the basement the network drop from 4G to 3G, and when I go back upstairs or out of my home, where the 4G network coverage is available the phone keep with 3G network .
Nothing change until I change the network mode say for 2G and get it back to 2G/3G/4G Auto then I will get a 4G or 4G + for a while then it will drop again to H and 3G network !!!
Any fix for this issue ?!
Any body face such an issue ?!
Regards,
Update
After trying the code { *#*#4636#*#* } then phone information then Set Preferred Network Type: according to my Mobile service Support I have to select LTE/CDMA/GSM auto but that option is not available in the list instead there is another select menu item LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto, after selecting this there is no way to save it even after restart.
the selected item by default is LTE/UMTS auto (PRL) ...... and there is no way to change it !!!!
any idea guys

The settings is fine
but I believe that it's some power saving thing implemented in the firmware where changing networks take some time longer than other smartphones.
Alright, in my previous galaxy and note phones when I felt that the LTE connection might be too congested, I would go to the network connection options and switch from LTE/3G/2G to 3G/2G. The Note 10 seems not to have this option for whatever reason.
I was wondering if there's anyway to make this option available? Or if anyone has any insight as to why it wouldn't be an option this time around.

This app lets you lock 5G/LTE/4G/3G/2G bands on most Samsung phones running the latest One UI software (no root required!):

Yes, you can even limit it to 3G and 2G only, as you specified.
