HTC U11 Drop 4G Network { Latest Android 8 Stock} - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Hi
I just got an HTC U11 (128 GB/6 GB) and I updated it to the latest Android Oreo Software No: 2.33.401.19 /Stock No Root
And after update I deleted cash and hard reset the device.
My problem is 4G network drop ....... when I go to the basement the network drop from 4G to 3G, and when I go back upstairs or out of my home, where the 4G network coverage is available the phone keep with 3G network .
Nothing change until I change the network mode say for 2G and get it back to 2G/3G/4G Auto then I will get a 4G or 4G + for a while then it will drop again to H and 3G network !!!
Any fix for this issue ?!
Any body face such an issue ?!
Regards,

Update
After trying the code { *#*#4636#*#* } then phone information then Set Preferred Network Type: according to my Mobile service Support I have to select LTE/CDMA/GSM auto but that option is not available in the list instead there is another select menu item LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto, after selecting this there is no way to save it even after restart.
the selected item by default is LTE/UMTS auto (PRL) ...... and there is no way to change it !!!!
any idea guys

The settings is fine
but I believe that it's some power saving thing implemented in the firmware where changing networks take some time longer than other smartphones.

AT&T HTC ONE X - 4g setting disabled

Hello,
I recently bought a At&t HTX one X. It has a Unlocked Bootloader and i have also unlocked it so that i can use it with other Service Providers. But i found out that the 4g is always on and when i go into the network setting, the option Data Roaming is disabled.
I am loosing a lot of money because of this.
Under the mobile Network Settings i can only see 3 options .
1. Data Roaming [This option is disabled]
2. Access Point Names
3.Network operators
Can somebody please help me with finding a solution to get 4g disabled?
Thanks in advance
Go to dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#*. Go to phone information, and pick wcdma preferred.
Sent from my One XL
ok cool.. now i see 4 options
1. Phone information
2. Battery information
3. Usage statistics
4. Wifi information
I went to phone information : - set the preferred network type as GSM only
Now i can see the 4g symbol disabled... great
But now i see the "E" symbol on.
How do i get rid of that ?
"GSM only" is this the right option i selected ?
more info
WCDMA preferred option is keeping the 4g active. i am a GSM user so tried GSM only and it worked. but the E symbol is still on.
4g = hspa (3.5g) 4g LTE = LTE
So wcdma preferred = cell and 3g
GSM/wcdma/lte = cell, 3g, LTE

This doesn't work on the AT&T version (and stock ROM), it will just go back to the default setting.
Only way to really shut it off is to flash a ROM with the LTE toggle.
thanks redpoint. can u suggest me a link where i can get step by step instructions to the rom you are referring to.
this has to get asked atleast 5 times a week since the phone came out

[Q] Network preferred type

Hello,
I have a Moto G with Android 4.3 and i want to change the network type preferred, but i didnt found this option, i always used the command *#*#4636#*#* and change to "WCDMA Only" in my old phone (Samsung galaxy y duos, Android 2.3.6).
My data acess always oscillates between 2g and 3g, there is other way to force connection only at 3g ?
Thank you guys
I also wanna know that

"WCDMA Only" should force it to be 3g only. That's on every phone I've had, and it works.

I tried. I downloaded but I don't know where to go in this app. I can't find the options or the menu to change to wcdma only. Can you please do a dummy tutorial for me?
Seriously I've stared this app for hours and still no clue

Oh, when you open the app, it's supposed to take you to the menu that you were taking about.
Look and I'm the general or q&a thread, there is another topic about this. Some people are saying theirs are locked from this menu unless they do something else. If I find a link, I'll send it over

Seriously!?
Have you tried to see each option of the app?
I'm gonna try to help you: open the app, there's a menu. The first option should be "Phone Information", tap that.
So you have a lot of information about the radio, your chip, phone number, your provider, cellphone network and more...
Look for the option like "Set prefered network type" (or something like that. I'm trying to imagine how it's written in English, once here I use it in portuguese).
That option is a combobox with a lot of other options to choose. Always use:
"GSM only" (forces to use 2G, saves battery, you can also use that from Android Config Menu)
"WCDMA only" (forces to use 3G, speed up connection, but drains battery)
And "WCDMA prefered" (the phone always try to connect to 3G, but when it's not possible, it gets 2G).
The default option should be "GSM auto (PRL)". Similar to WCDMA prefered, but read this the see difference:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6591742&postcount=2
Be very careful with the other options. CDMA is very different from WCDMA.
CDMA is a different 2G modulation and it's not compatible with GSM neither Moto G.
EvDO is used only in some countries and providers, google to learn about it.
And LTE is 4G connection. I don't know if Moto G radio support that.
Remember: try it in you own risk! I'm not responsable for any connection problems you get. And try not to change nor tap any other option in that menu.
I'm using this app here with any trouble.
Ok, I see this menu, I select my network preferred type but nothing happens...
Am I supposed to do something after select the network type I want?
I mean, the Phone is still changing to 2g...
I'm so frustrated with not being able to force wcdma =/
Problem solved.
Download and install Phone testing from play store.
Thank you guys =]

I am on the same boat. The change I made in (*#*#4636#*#*) - WCDMA prefered - won't save. After each reboot/restart it goes back to GSM PRL.
My G isn't rooted or modified in any way, out of box state with few 3rd party apps.
Maybe is related to APN?
Network mode
HI Friends,
I like to use network preferred mode AUTO (3g/2g),
but from mobile network -> network mode there are only
two option that we can select either "2G" or "3G".
Some days back at first time when I opend this menu
neither of "2G" or "3G" was selected so It was working fine
with by defualt in auto mode.
But once I have selected this option now It is not possible to unselect both
2G as well as 3G and put phone back to auto network select mode.
Can anybody has work around for this.
I tried "Network" app as suggested but not useful for me.

In Settings > Apps you can reset app preferences which deselects 2g and 3g, but not sure it makes any difference. You lose any preferences you set for apps...

How to force 3g in Moto G

Hi:
The Moto G has the options of choosing between 3G and 2G networks but 3G option doesn't force. I mean, if 3G signal is weak sometimes it changes to 2G and is not easy to return 3G network.
I know there is and android code:
*#*#4636#*#*
That code theoretically could force to 3G. I have not used it because I don't know exactly how to use it and I would know if is possible to recover the original state once it has been used.
I know there is an app called Phone testing that could do the same
Has anybody used this app? Does it work with Moto G? Is it possible to recover original state if something goes wrong?
I have found some threats at this forum with this topic but there is not an easy solution.

Thanks, I knew this. In this set there are only two possibilities 2G or 3G.
If 3G is setted means that if a 3G network is available and the signal is strong enough then the phone will try to connect this network But sometimes if the signal is not very strong the phone will change to 2G. The problem arises because the phone decides too fast to change to 2G.
I know in other phones there is a set that forces only 3G. This option is not available in Moto G and I'm searching how to force only 3G.

Ok thanks:
The possible options are:
GSM only
WCDMA only
GSM auto (PRL)
CDMA auto (PRL)
CDMA only
EvDo only
GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)
LTE/GSM auto (PRL)
LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)
LTE only
Unknown
To force 3G "WCDMA only" must be chosen.
And to return to the original state, what is the option "GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)" or "CDMA auto (PRL)" or "Unknown"?
In the last post I think I was wrong. The option to return to the original state must be "WCMDA preferred".
Thanks.

Bro, That #*#*4636#*#* doesnt work on my phone, actually no codes work on my phone, when i press the last * then the dialer comes, nothing happen. Pls help me out. I want also an Auto mode for preferred network type. Where 3G network is available it will work on 3G and where 3G is not available, it will automatically switch to 2G and then again 3G where its applicable.
3G only in MOTO G
You should use data sim in slot 1.

I have a LG V10. Though I am on T-Mobile network provider.
If I want to change frequencies (which is what I think you are asking). You need to select the "Preferred Network Mode".
You do this by going to your "settings" > then click the "more" then click "Mobile Networks" then click "Network Mode" then select the the frequency the radio will operate on. Your choices are;
GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
GSM/WCDMA auto
WCDMA only
GSM only
Hope that helps.

Help 3G, 4G/LTE Not Working on Cyanogenmod 13

I am using cynogenmod 13 latest build all things working perfectly but I'm unable to change connection type to 3G or LTE if selected 2G I have to go to flight mode and then I can change the connection type to LTE only still can't change it to 3G. When it's selected LTE as default even that time also the data connection work still as 2G sign showing as E even if I select LTE never get the H/H sign on my service provider Vodafone India please help me... and sorry for my bad english.
I had a similar problem with CM 12.1, but I solved it changing the APN. My phone has 2 APN available, I just selected the one it wasn't using and I got 4G and 3G again after some minutes.
Hope it helps.

Try changing the APN as Secuential said. For Vodafone India, I think it says 'www'.
If that doesn't work, try manually changing it.
Enter *#*#4636#*#* in your dialer.
In the 'Testing' window that appears, go to Phone Information.
Scroll down to Set preferred network type: (The default is LTE/GSM auto (PRL))
Change it to WCDMA only.
It should show H sign after a while.
Good luck.
(Though, keeping WCDMA only can increase battery usage. Change it to 'WCDMA preferred' later)
