I just recognised that on the right side of my screen I can easily stick my fingernail into the gap - but not on the left side. I recognised this because I wondered why there is dirt in the gap on the right.
Is this "normal" or an issue?

Pic please. Really dunno what you mean.
No, it's not normal. Clearly they didn't assemble the phone correctly. I would return it and get a replacement.

I'll go the other way and say this is likely normal, but it depends on how significant of a gap we are talking. I posted the same issue on Reddit concerning a gap at the north-end of my phone. It's bigger than all the rest of the gaps and causes dust build-up. You can't really tell there is dust/grime in the gap unless you are in bright sunlight -- in which case, the dust appears gray/white.
The gaps on the other sides are tight. On the backside of the phone, I have a larger gap on the right side, but no the other sides.
Anyway, many people chimed in and this seems to be a normal issue, at least to an extent. The glass doesn't fit into the frame with microscopic precision, so you'll have a gap somewhere along the frame. The extent of the gap is what should inform your decision to return. For me, the gap on the top of the face of my phone is only big enough to fit in a single sheet of paper. But, even that will allow dust in. If your entire fingernail is fitting, that seems a bit too big for me. My fingernail is about the thickness of 3 sheets of paper.

I just called my provider and they will check the phone. I am okay with the gap if it doesn't affect IP68, otherwise I hope they replace it.

Just got Note 5 and the stylus is not quite flush with bottom of device. It protrudes just a bit and it's a little bit annoying but was wondering if anyone else has same issue.

I bought 3 and the pens are not flushed with any of them. It doesn't bother me; the top of the pen is not curved to match the contour of the corner.
The one I demoed in the store was actually flush.
It's very slight but I just assumed it was to make it easier to push in to release it.
I can feel it slightly also. This could be by design to make it easier to "feel" for the pen. If it was 100% flush with the phone it would be more difficult to feel without being able to see it (for example, during the night in bed)...
I think they are all like this, so it's not a defect with your particular phone.
My s pen was flush in the beginning. Now it's not. I am a heavy s pen user. I'm wondering if the spring inside was too compressed and now it has loosen. Not happy. ?

If you run naked it would be annoying, but if you use a case it really wouldn't matter at all.

Somehow I managed to chip a "divot" out of the body of my s7 (the regular one, not the galaxy edge). It's a roughly circular divot about 1cm in diameter, located at the 1:00 position above the front camera, on the very edge of the body where it rounds over to the front screen and just narrowly missing the front screen itself. I'm not noticing any problems so far. So, probably annoying but not fatal.
A picture would be good if you can take it, but odds are if it works now, you'll be fine.

Here you go. You can see just how small the hole really is, but I don't want cracks to propagate from the edges. I wonder if there's something I can fill in the divot with. I've done some googling but people are mostly concerned about scratches.
I wouldn't worry too much about that -- it hit the aluminum and doesn't seem to have caused a separation in the seam.
Typically mars like that are considered normal wear and tear, and shouldn't affect your warranty. I've traded in/warrantied phones with marks like that all the way around the edges.
Did you post this on reddit asking what you could fill in that "diviot" with by anychance?!
Fill it with Aluminium filler and primer used for Alloy rims. I have done that on Galaxy S6. If you do it with patience, will not be very visible.

Hi guys, please see pictures. Is this normal?
There's a tiny gap between my top side of the screen and the frame (fits 2 lotto papers easily.)
It is annoying because the bottom side is perfect; the back side is also perfect.
Any body has this problem?
Hey, well i was curios too, .... for me the top is very very tight , close and no gap , no paper is going in.
But for the bottom is not, easy enter a papper in the gap , and you can see it .
I'm not concern about the bottom beacuse i will NOT put it in water !
Check my pictures ( recomend use , and google plus classic , for zoom

Wasn't this answered elsewhere, in that the gap is deliberate to allow for expansions and contractions in temperature? We may need to be careful not to become too paranoid with the design, as some will gratuitously return the handsets which may raise the bar for those with a genuine warranty claim. If it's a waterproofing concern, I don't think we're supposed to be submerging the handsets, which are more water resistant than waterproof as I understand it. Apologies if this sounds a bit "preachy" and feel free to correct me if I'm way off here......
On my unit the top, bottom and the left side of the screen/frame connection are tight, but the right side where the power button is does have sligthly bigger gap, very tiny difference.
I'm sure if the phone passes the pressure test, it shouldn't be a concern about it beeing water resistant.
If it doesn't pass the pressure test, take it to service and demand a new one.
But If you go to a dealer and look at other phones on a store display you'll see they all have this tiny gap somwhere, not each on the same place, so I guess it's there for a reason and there's a tolerance for it.
As I said, if it passes pressure test, don't worry about it and don't try to adjust it or re-glue it or something.
I have the same gap on the bottom edge. Washed my phone many times, took showers with it. I dont have any issues.

One has to ask, why?? All you need to do is wipe your phone with a cloth dampened with anti-bacterial spray. These phones are water resistant, not waterproof.

You are right. I was irresponsible. Always wanted to do it though
The phone is really weak, I drop it less than 1 meter I forget it on my knees.
I share with you the picture
With a case or without
It's a pretty brittle phone. If you drop it on the corners it's done (as pictured)
I wonder why anyone would think it could even stand a small fall. Ceramic, even though one of the hardest materials with scratch resistance on par with Sapphire, is also very a brittle material.
I would be worried if this level of damage happened even with a decent case.
Until the OP responds, we'll never know.

I have had 2 so far. Dropped one with the case. Small fall 2ft and corner got nicked even with the case. So I gave that to my wife and bought a 6GB version. Dropped that again (1ft drop) and same exact place got nicked.
I would not buy another one. Love the phone but not that much.

What type of case did you have? Was it the included leather case?

Ouch, where to next then? Mate 9?
Original case.
Next phone would be S8 if the renders are true. My favorite phone by far was the note 7, but you know how that went.
I usually change my phone's every few months so let's see what else is out there that catches my eye.

S8 won't survive drops much better. Especially the curved sides will be sensitive for hits like the corners of the MIX are. And well my two Note 7 i've owned were very very sensitive at the curved sides. Because of i could return both units in any condition i tested smash resistance. Just a soft hit on the curved sides with any hard object, display cracked. Dropped the device from half a meter to one of the four corner, display cracked, frame not looking nice. Without a real ruggedized case most actual mobiles, like S7 Edge, Note 7, Mate 9 Porsche, etc. won't survive drops onto the weak parts of the casing.
I also dropped mine waist high with one of those jelly clear case right on the corner, lucky me it only got a small tiny chipped on the screen it's barely noticeable, I think that my heart stopped for a second when that happened.
This is why any case should have a front bezel and padded corners.
I dropped mine waist height and it landed directly on the corner. No damage.
I've dropped mine a few times from chest level onto carpet. It landed face down most times and so far nothing chipped. It's the original case.

Which case were you using?
I dropped mine from about 2 feet onto hardwood last night without a case on. Thankfully no scratches or chips or anything but now that I've dropped it once I'm scared to death. Certainly does seem to be a matter of time before it gets destroyed, at least without a case.
But honestly putting a case on this thing seems like it would almost entirely defeat the whole purpose of this phone, at least for me.

I know most of the curved glass devices wont hold up to drops, but with samsung and other devices (major brands) at least I can get parts and repair the phone. With this phone that's not happening, However I still love it and its my daily phone.

Yes, right, but if you see the price for a display for example you're directly start thinking about ordering a new phone
Edit: @cellspare they have Mix replacement display in stock. But no idea about quality of this shop.

This one. It's pretty good, doesn't add much bulk.

You can find it for cheap on Aliexpress
I dropped mine from chest height with the included case onto hard tile. Landed right on the corner where the front camera is. Chipped it lightly, and now there are a few small spots in the corner that look a bit like the camera hole. I didn't expect it to even survive the drop, and was quite impressed the display didn't crack.

To be fair, that corner does have a sizable bezel (assuming you're talking about the front facing camera). I wonder what the impact would've been if it was either of the upper corners.

Hello,
Received my Note10+ yesterday, so far love the device.
I just noticed today (this morning) on bright sun / light a gap of couple of millimeters on top of the screen.
Looks like screen is not going to the edge on top side only, is this normal?
Image / full size:
https://screens.urimage.link/20190830_074945.jpg
Please see image for better view / understanding.
Thanks
that gap is for the sensors and speaker
Thank you very much for your time and responding to this thread.
I am a little bit confused, isnt the speaker at the bottom?
I had Samsung S10+ until yesterday, and i do not remember seeing gap like this (its not the same phone, but, probably similar design / i might be wrong though).
Thank you
The gap in the middle 2 arrows are the cut out for the front speaker the other gaps are where the screen meets the frame sometime there bigger on different phones its hut and miss
But if it bothers you exchange it for one that fits a bit better
Thank you very much for responding.
I think i have 15 days to replace / return the phone (i will re-check), but, if its kinda normal, and possible on any other phone, even replacement, i do not think its wise to do it.
Once i put case on, i do not even think it will be that visible (hardly visible now as well if not on bright light).
Biggest concern if this would affect IP68 in anyway
Thanks

I think there is a way you can test the ip rating without obviously putting it in water
Back when I had the xperia phones you could squeeze the device and check the pressure didn't rise and stay risen to indicate its water tight
Thank you again for your time.
I decided to test that gap by pouring water on it for about 20-30 seconds, no issues at all.
I will not bother with this, will just enjoy the phone.
Thanks again.
The picture link is not working. From my understanding the only small gap should be in the center where the top speaker hole is. But the left and right side of the top speaker till the corner should not have any gap. I am having the same issue. I'm going to check to see if other models are like that.
Same, should not be there.
In the end i decided to return the phone.
Upon closer inspections took some photos and judging by other demo units on display. They all have that white line gap. Some are more noticable than others. But same line can be seen. I compared 3 different phones from different stores. They all exist. It's seems like that white line looks like maybe it's the adhesive glue. The middle does not have it where the ear speaker cutout is, where the ear speaker hole ends on both side left and right white line is visible because of the extra gap on both sides and it appears that the line stops before the corner on each side of the glass on the top. It's maybe nitpicking buts it's really annoying. I checked on the S10 it's not present on that model and none I see on the Note 9 too. I checked. And since it's like white color can be visible inside the small gap line on the top where the glass meets up with the metal frame.
I actually just discovered that I can get a piece of paper down between the top of the screen and the frame on my Note 10 +!!!??? All along the top of the glass - from the top left corner to the right?
Is this what you are talking about? And will the phone still be waterproof? (There could still be a rubber membrane that prevents water from entering the insides of the phone...)
