I have not rooted, I'm afraid, I just let tmobile update to 7.0 and ... I just don't like it. At all.
Is the only way to get back through Odin? Just curious if there was another way ...
You should root and install Roms through TWRP recovery. I like Nougat, but I don't like T-Mobile's first version thereof, so I use Khongloi Nougat v3 (Note 5 base). I think Khongloi is v7 or something now, but he took his Rom in the S8 port direction and doesn't even offer downloads of the version I use that is near identical to the T-Mobile version (just better performing and Miracast works). Personally, I would never own a phone that is not rooted; there is just way too much flexibility and so many benefits to rooting!
EDIT 5/2/17:JUSMEJOSE, you are correct about QA2 working from QC6. I just tested that version now. PD1 is what fails and that is why I said it wouldn't work. PD1 is the Marshmallow Rom that it is impossible to go back to from either QC6 Nougat or QA2 Marshmallow. It is also impossible to go back to OGE Lollipop from either QC6 or QA2.

You can downgrade with odin, just download latest 6.0.1 firmware and flash with odin, make hard reset after, nougat have same bootloader binary code as latest 6.0.1 so is safe to downgrade
I recommend following this post's instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-note5/general/guide-update-to-official-nougat-t3594453
You already have Nougat, so skip to the part about flashing TWRP in Odin's AP section--just start there and follow the easy-as-pie instructions. You will be happy you rooted.

Wrong wrong Nougat and MM have the same Rev4 meaning you can always go back to MM!
Can anyone with a tmobile/canadian note 5 who are not rooted verify if they have gone back successfully to MM from Nougat thru Odin. And nothing messes up in the process, whether or not its a safe option to do this or not as well. Any help would be appreciated since I am reading conflicting opinions on this. Thanks!

I dont what did you flash because i dont need to test i know for sure that you are able to downgrade to MM to previos build with no problem Nougat and MM have the same Revision version so you are able to downgrade bootloader and baseband with no peoblem .. and before flashing always bakup your stuff ..

JUSMEJOSE, a cursory Google search reveals that Odin will not let you downgrade your bootloader/baseband. One individual I read thought they could giving advice similar you yours, but someone else reported later in that same thread that Odin would not let you downgrade bootloader/baseband. What's more, I told you I already tried flashing a lower bootloader/baseband Rom and Odin will not let you. I tried bootloader separate and only the current will flash. I tried two different older Roms and Odin will not let you; only the current will flash if you've already upgraded. Try flashing only a lower modem.tar and it will flash but you will have *no signal* after the Rom boots due to Samsung security. A lower bootloader/baseband will not successfully flash in Odin, period (i.e., any flash containing a lower bl.tar). Like I said, try it yourself and you will see that Odin will not let you flash a lower bootloader/baseband--not within an md5 Rom nor even separately. Try it yourself and all you will will lose is the two hours or so it takes to download an older md5 Rom from Sammobile, because Odin will not let you flash a lower bootloader/baseband.

Guys I need a bit of help, I think I havent done this downgrade correctly. In short what I did was:
1. Clear cache, data, factory reset
2. Installed Odin3-v3.11.1.zip
3. Downloaded last 6.01 firmware from my carrier prior to Nougat update (Canadian)
4. Flash it on ODIN
Apparently, there were two errors I got:
1. Firstly it said binary is invalid - meaning there was something wrong with the md5 download file
2. I renamed file to .tar now download went thru, but at the end it gave me an error saying Custom Binary Blocked by Faplock.
Would anyone know what I am doing wrong, I am sure its a minor thing, just cant seem to pinpoint it.
Nevermind, had a bad download, also didnt enable USB debugging. I am back on MM now.

Hi,
1. You'll lost all your data on internal storage, applications installed, and configurations that you have done. So do backup before upgrading with ODIN.
2. You can't. Since the phone will brick. Flash the correct firmware again should work.
3. You shouldn't. The best way is to wait for the update roll up for your TTT Note Edge (because USA T-Mobile is different than TTT). Since some of the devices are carrier/bootloader locked.
Sorry, too many edits.

Had a similar issue yesterday when I tried to update my rooted 5.0.2 to an official 5.1.1. I have used ODIN many times before since SGS3, and back then you were able to mix your system image from other regions, but that apparantly has been locked down by Samsung. Now you can only update an official version of the rom if it exactly matches your existing region. Because you updated your SK international S6 and tried a region set rom from Czech it most likely failed towards the very end of flash with "FAIL".
Your options are: 1) you download the 5.1.1 version for your region in ODIN format from SAMMobile or 2) you use Smart Switch and let it do it for you - in this case you will need to know the SN of your phone as it is used for verification.
Samsung has locked down the serial number with the regions that come with it. So if you have to install, you should update it or use same region odin file. There is a way to break this chain if you are rooted and some additional files are being used in the odin but I am not completely sure as I have not tried it yet. But there are chances that you may void your warranty if you try that or the worse hard brick as it can sometimes change your serial number if not used properly. but I wouldn recommend that. I'll let you know once I understand the usage correctly.

if not locked, you can flash the unlocked versions of MM 920F, as I dont think you need pit files as some guys have flashed 920F MM over 920F 5.1.1 without pit.
Tried several times with ODIN. Fails everytime. Lost my phone data as well while trying when I formatted everything without a backup. I am a Certified retard!
Ok so myself and also some other people on the Australia post have tried to flash the G920F MM firmware (VOD or XEF) on a G920i and it has never worked - coming from a Custom 5.1.1 Rom or an official 5.1.1.
Odin simply refused to flash the firmware so you actually don't lose any data and don't damage your phone.

Hi
Have your firends and you tried to convert your G920i 5.1.1 to a G920f 5.1.1 first, before trying to update to MM?
I ask because one user up in the thread said that he had successfully flash a Mexico G920f 5.1.1 firmaware to his G920i 5.1.1 phone.... but he did not flash with MM, because he was scared of flashing a pit file...

What do you mean? British BTU officially updated two days ago and it's available for download, or I'm just not understanding your question? XD
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
It downloaded yesterday both of mine and my wife's S7's (UK - SG930F - Unlocked Version)
Yes I also got the BTU OTA 3 days ago. I was having unlock issues, basically requiring me to enter pin most of the time and not accepting fingerpint unlock. Deleted and entered my fingerprints then a factory reset and still the same. Flashed back to australian firmware and the problem went away. Samsung Pay also does not work for US users with BTU firmware but it works fine with australian. So I'm back to waiting and hope when I get the next OTA the unlock issue doesn't happen again. I personally wasn't blown away but I only stayed with it a day. I didn't like the new notification panel...but I'm sure most do.
I have also had problems with my S7 on Nougat BTU. My S7 is a ETL (Checz Unlocked) in Spain. Data connection doesn't seem to work. All works except that (calls, sms, wi-fi). I tried also O2C, also Nougat. I've downgraded to MM ETL and Data connection works fine. I'm now downloading MM BTU, just in case data works in MM. If it does, I will try to upgrade to N.
You are missing point guys. I have regular international unbranded (no carrier) version of SGS7 Model G930F. Question is this.
Is there any confirmed OTA downloads and successful updates without ANY modifications. Download and install just simply by going into download manually or automatic notification about Nougat available just like any other update. I see ODIN, BTU some other crap that I need to do. NO. I want OTA without doing anything. So once again is there any confirmed OTA updates for international version of G930F. Like Right now I have software version: G930FXXU1BPLB/G930FOJV1BPK2/G930FXXU1BPJJ
If you can point of what EXACT version of international unit I have that'll be great because if people receiving updates already I don't understand why I am not.
P.S.
I do understand there are different versions of G930F but all I want is OTA to Nougat without doing anything.
Thanks !

I flashed all except HOME_CSC
(CSC will reset the phone to factory defaults)
Which is a good thing for a major OS upgrade IMO
Does anyone have a link to BTU_CSC?the CSC in the BTU 7.0 firmware doesn't change my product code
That is my point. BTU is a variant of G930F. How about All of them ? I mean they're not saying some variants are being updated, they're saying G930F and G935F being updated. I wish someone had some understand or some stats of what variants are receiving update.

Your quick response will be highly appreciated, thanks.
Looks like your model is N920V, Verizon model with a custom rom on it. You should be able to flash verizon firmware without issue
but how could he have a custom Rom on a verizon model???

I don't think it is a custom rom, I think It is a modified Stock Verizon Rom. Sm N920f doesn't exist as an original model as Samsung didn't do an European version of the Note5, phone info also said that is not refurbish. if you look at the phone details as I earlier posted you will see a mixup of Both N920f and N920v, I am just looking to hear from someone who as done it before, I don't want to brick this phone, I just got it.
same problem
i have same problem when i check about on devices its show N920F but when i check it using Phone Info Samsung it show N920V
if i flash it using N920V firmware, it will lock network to verizon? i use indonesian sim on it now.
if that locked to verizon how to unlock it again like now i used
Thanks for your help
I took a risk and flashed stock nougat (i found link on xdadevelopers website) on my so called n920f. Actually phone is not N920F, firmware was modifed to remove the branding. Its actually N920V.
To conclude, I flashed nougat 7.0 and its working perfectly, without any issue. I was worried regarding carrier locking after flashing the stock nougat, but it didn't as verizone says they don't lock LTE phones.

im from philippines. i tried my note 5 to update but stock in lollipop then i found out that its from verizon the real model is sm 920v and it was a custom rom of sm 920f. i read some replies here and im waiting for if i could flash nougat rom in sm 920v since its verizon does it can access the network signal
hope someone could help me this.
From N920F to N920V just download and install "Samsung Smart Switch" software on your PC, open the application and connect your phone to PC, click "MORE" , choose "Emergency Software Recovery & Initialization" then follow the instruction. It will reset to factory setting and upgrade the latest firmware (Nougat 7.0). The firmware is carrier unlock.

You mean smartswitch will do an OTA update? Or you have to downloaded rom and use Odin?

Yes, Smart Switch will do an OTA update automatically, no need ODIN because your phone has reset to normal factory setting with phone model N920V, no more N920F.
sm 920v became sm 920f
