Hi,
For some work related and general information, I'm curious to see what kind of chip bins people are getting. The devices I've seen so far have had trash bins which affect power consumption and battery life.
To find out your chip bin, you don't need root on the S8. Simply reboot into download mode via Vol-Down + Bixby Button + Power Button. You get the following information:
The nASV_xxx are the block binning numbers. CL0 is little cores, CL1 big cores, G3D is the GPU.
Alternatively if you have it rooted you can read it in /sys/kernel/debug/asv_summary
For the sake of simplicity in the poll, just post the G3D figure as I've noticed that seems to be always the worst one.
There are 15 ASV groups. The higher the number, the better your bin and power consumption.
If you want, you can post in detail the bins if they differ a lot. Also it would be useful to post when you purchased your device. It's possible that devices purchased/manufactured at a later date will have better bins.
Hey Andrei good you are back I'll post mine in a min

I was joking. Bining values are not that important for me as long as i get good performance from my device. Battery life difference between my 1 and a 10 is so small that does not worth the hassle to get an exchange with potentially other problems

I'm only talking about battery life, I don't care much about benchmarks
Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
I get better battery life than that. Over 4 hours sot before 50% left yet I have worse cpu bin of 4 for little, 7 for big age 4 for gpu
So are the bin marks that important?? Or maybe lower means better?
Is it only the Exynos that has these major differences from one chip to another performance wise? I have the Snapdragon model, wonder if those are all comparable to each other.

Between S4 and Note2. S4.
But Note 3 is around the corner. If you are interested, it will be available in a month.

Its basically your preference. Both are great devices, its either you want a phablet which you use with two hands or a smartphone you use with one. If your going for an everyday use kind of phone i'd go with the s4. But like the above poster said if you want a phablet just hold off for another month and get the note 3. But if your on an american carrier which I don't think you are then the bootloader would be locked on all the new devices coming out.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337
I would go for the note if you want gaming , s4 gets hot very fast up to 44c while note never goes above 35c in asphalt 8, also battery lasts longer in gaming with note 2 , only bad thing is note has little bit of micro lag in response @ max details vs s4. Note 3 would be best solution fir gaming or one max when they get out.
In less than a month note 3 will be out ... i think if u are going to buy now it's worth to wait maybe see the first reviews of it and then buy ...
But generally in gaming bigger screen and battery is a big plus ... also if hardware/software optimization is done right this time by samsung the phone will not overheat ... at least not that much as the s4

I don't play games on my mobile, but if I did I would go for Note 2. As I have used it for more than 7 months, I can concur that it was an amazing device. It was smooth, fast and didn't get as hot as my S4. I sold it and bought S4 for only one reason, size. It was way too big for me. I love the overall size of S4. But it stutters more than Note 2, especially I miss the fantastic stock browser of Note 2, the stock browser on S4 is next to horrible. God knows what Samsung have done!
Anyway, I am happy that I bought S4 and sold Note 2, I don't regret my decision a tiny bit, but if someone is happy or comfortable with the size of Note 2 then I see no reason to buy S4 over it.

Good video. One thing to mention, when you said you cannot unroot the device without leaving a flag, you can use Root de la Vega on SD800's and it will not trigger the flag. Just flash stock ROM to wipe root. It's been out for about a week now.
Great video from c4etech as is the case always.
However, I need to mention that at the beginning you had pressed the restart button of the exynos variant a split/second before the slapdragon 800 one's. Well, I am not sure about how would that affected the delay in rebooting of slapdragon one. Just to mention it.

Great video mate! I was not able to listen to the audio (was attending a class)One thing I noticed from the video that both the variants show similar performane while doing cpu intensive jobs! The difference comes when the gpu is needed and even there tge difference is minor. So overall the exynos version is not that bad.

it depends on the upgrade of the os.. s800 has an overheat issue witch decrease maxfreq as fast as you say "hello", it's a thermal ID function witch, when you reach 65°C, system goes from 2.3 to about 1.5 for all 4 cores.. that's why he has less benchmark results
air temperature of the room dissipate the phone overheat.. heater is, more underclocking of the cpu maxfreq
btw, last upgrade of the rom disable the thermal ID for some benchmark apps, and force the governor as a performance, so, all 4 cores turned on + maxfreq for all cores.. so.. that's why you have those results
but.. the real result is what ash had, you only have a fixed one witch values are impossible to uses in normal situation since system underclock the cpu
don't you beleve? run stability test, open system tuner, go to cpu tab, see the maxfreq goes from 2.3 to about 1.5.. and cpu temperature at about 65°C or symilar
try :good:
can you please post "sunspider and browser benchmark" test of them ?
Just my opinion, no offence.
I not sure what you did to the device. Your N9005 is kind of slow, all slow.
My benchmark score is higher anytime than yours.
I can get at least 33k for Antutu after unstop using it, means the phone is kind of hot. 36k for Antutu after cooling down.
As for 3D Mark, I always get Maxed out! for Ice Store & Ice Storm Extreme.
Also I notice you had more background running apps in S800 than Exynos one, at least it show they is one more search apps inside.
Beside this, can't you press together for all the running? It is not that difficult to do so.
I find your benchmark is useless as you not even can do proper in basic things.
Great video, very helpful

Maybe we have revision 1 then ,i have the same result with 5.0.1
woah,
I thought revision 1 was only used in the prototype tablet.
Seems LG and Qualcomm used the g flex 2 as a test device then.
Ok,
So for anybody that is intrested. It is indeed the rev 1p1 in the lg g flex 2.
After android update 5.1.1 it seems like cpu4 and cpu7 have been turned off and the cpu has been capped at 1.56GHz (ranges from 384 MHz - 1.56 GHz (feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, the correcter the information i get about this phone the better)
In general, it looks like the phones performance issues have gone away, and its Flying like a phoenix from the ashes.
It does however feel like a double edged blade.

Sorry but It is not like this. CPUs, turn on/off depending on the load of work they have to serve or the temperature.
I just checked my phone with CPU-Z app and 8 cores were working:
4X1958MHz and the others 4X1555MHz
With 5.1 1 performance was decreased compared with 5.0.1 rooted debloated with custom thermal settings .5.1.1 has quite better battery life though.
Revision r1p1, can confirm clock speed.
well i was researching to buy this phone, and the one i bought is r0p2
gets pretty hot atm, but i guess thats because i'm downloading and installing some apps
The r0p2 was on 5.0.1
now my phone got the 5.1.1 update and it says r1p1
and i don't get the fuss about this device being slow or warm
my nexus 5 got way hotter and was way more sluggish then this beast

Oneplus 2 will underclock to 1.8 instead of 2 and use a better thermal hardware. throttling is in all 810 phones thats a fact. Even xiaomi mi note pro have issues... But the problem is not that bad . qualcomm i think wasnt ready to release 64 bit cpu ...
according to cpu-z,mine is r1p1 rev. and i'm stock on 5.0.1...
Sorry for noobish question, but can anyone explain me is SoC software or hardware related and are all lg g flex 2 CPU same(are snapdragon 810 v.2 and v2.1 same cpu-s with different software,or different cpu-s)?
I am planning to but this phone, meizu pro 5 or the Samsung s5 neo however I have heard a lot about the overheating of this phone.
It seems that the phone will benefit from underclocking the processor to 1.8 or lower. This is because it can be compared to sd808 which have the same A57 (2x) but lower clock speed and it seems the sd808 does not heat up. Furthermore, the A57 is known to be quite powerful so a reduction in the cpu speed should (hopefully) not affect the performance greatly and instead increase the battery life and eliminate the heat.
In summary, if there someone using the phone underclocked, please post your experience here.
Or is there someone willing to try it and post results?
Kernel autitor or 3c tool box can be used to underclock the cpu.
I've not underclock and my experience is really positive... I do not have overeating...

I am a very happy owner of lg gflex 2 . it is a great phone. Also performance is very good with the right tweaking. But the meizu pro 5 you mentioned in your post is better than gflex 2 . My opinion is to get that if you can.
I had some errors with the factory setup of the phone and then tried the PAC ROM which had a lot of restart issues. Do I need to flash a new kernel and what ROMs seem to eliminate restart issues?
I've pretty much tried most ROMs out for the Idol 3, and I'd say the most stable one out of the bunch is DCZ's ROM --> https://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/development/rom-6045-i806-dcz-stock-oc-kernel-root-t3257511
I'd say the second one is PixelOS by Alek Dev - although it's smooth so far, I haven't had it for long so I can't make judgements on it's reliability. But most of Alek's ROM unfortunately starts slowing down considerably after a couple of weeks. Not sure if the same happens with the PixelOS as I've had it for a couple days.
After tested a good ammount of them, i agree with @MysteriousAnon, i mean i didn't tested DCZ ROM but pixel is going pretty good and good battery life compared to others
Anyways i would use cm13 if had no battery issue, cm12.1 runs good too

I know this tweak, i've doing the same on galaxy note 10.1 to increase battery. and, at the same time GPU is faster
degrease res and dpi can be usefull on some devices but it's not amazing on idol3
.

Oh I use it for the GPU performance only, the battery for me it is very bad already so I don't know if that resolution change will change much
But on games, the difference is a lot on fps

i have moved to new phone now (zte axon 7), but i would think SOT (screen on time) of ~6 hours may be.
i never went all the way down to zero on the battery, it seems to use just about ~15% for 1 hour of SOT. this is with lowest brightness.

thanks, installed and you are right, battery is amazing
sorry, i'm not a great one to compare against for screen on time, as i play ingress and pokemon go, and they both eat up the battery quite a bit.

What about performance? Does it lag more than stock rom or its faster ?
