Hey guys!
I know it's kind early to ask this kind of question but...
As soon as S8 has only 10% more CPU power and this DeX feature is a software thing, if someone port the S8 ROM for our S7, will we be able to use this DeX function?
Do we need to have that stand or could be any stand to have that feature?
Thanks =D
If you can port an s8 rom onto the s7 then i don't see why not, this looks like mostly software, you'd need a micro usb to usb c adaptor though.

Only if that stand is required. Maybe only a stand with fan with charging capability will be enough, huh?
Also for those who bought S7 and received for free Gear VR (v2) have an usb type c adaptor that came in gear vr box =P.
AFAIK the S7 doesn't have MHL, so it can't carry video over MicroUSB.

Neither S8 has it.... As it seems, no website has reported MHL function on S8 (maybe it's too early for this info?).
GSMArena doesn't mention MHL or something like that.
I think it will use the official USB Type-C alternate mode for DVI (with an integrated hdmi converter in the dex dock)

USB C Alternate Mode with DVI confirmed:
Supports DisplayPort over USB type-C. Supports video out when connecting via HDMI Adapter. (DisplayPort 4K 60 fps)
Source: http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/galaxy-s8/specs/
That's why it seams to be compatible with the Mirabook then https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/...-a-laptop-mobile-android/x/16210921#/comments
They say Slimport but it's same as Displayport I guess

I don't think its only about software otherwise samsung might have provided update for s7 or s6.
This is some hardware dependency like projecting the screen to other display or type-c introduction cable has something to do with it.
I think in future there might be type-c to hdmi cable would be available for using DeX.
Time to refloat this post while the Note 8 is being introduced
Con este cable funciona el dex en un s8
con este cable chino funciona el dex en un S8, si es solo software como dicen debe de funcionar en el S7 con romdel S8
cargador-adaptador-USB-C-Converter-Macbook/dp/B073VLFBPC/ref=redir_mobile_desktop/132-0952286-8683505?_encoding=UTF8&keywords=usb%20c%20hub&pi=AC_SX118_SY170_QL70&qid=1509140289&ref_=mp_s_a_1_10&sr=8-10
There is type c input in 2017 a series. Dex is able to connect with type c.
Is this not possible then? Or is there any programs that could be run the same maybe?
Um, Hi.
Since "early" is already over, I've seen s8 and s9 ports for S7. But haven't any clue.
So is Samsung Dex able to work in s7 now? And if yes, Can anyone direct us how to do it?

Hey all...so....long time android user.....my very first phone was the Motorola Atrix 4G - one of the first to offer fingerprint logins to the phone AND also had a mini-hdmi out port which hooked into a special "dock" motorola manufactured to create a desktop experience....although, I think at the time it wasn't just a dock, it was like a whole mini-laptop thing with a keyboard and stuff....
ANYWAY, the point I'm making is, I think someone found a way to activate the desktop mode and all you had to do was use the hdmi-out port (the phone came with a compatible hdmi cable) and connect it to a monitor or tv and you could use a BT connected mouse and keyboard and voila! You now have the "desktop" experience without having to buy their phone-into-a-laptop-adapter.
So....is it possible to activate this experience over a usb-to-hdmi adapter? The phones already came supplied with an OTG adapter....
Anyway....would love to know if anyone knows of anything like this or has the knowledge and skill to make this happen?

I believe you can get a usb c to HDMI without the need for the otg connector...don't quote me though because I lost the thread I read it in...
Might want to try this.

Interesting.....in full disclosure, I got a Dex dock.....trying to decide if i'm going to keep it....
Seemed to find some traction for this here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/wip-samsung-s8-dex-dex-station-t3605933
I was wundering of it's possible to use the Dex-docking wij the Note9. I know jou only need a hdmi cable, but I alrrady have a Dex-docking and I also want several port like LAN and usb. I could use an adapter but that would cost me €100 euro and I already have a Dex-Dock.
I was afraid to try it out, scared that I would break the dex-function in my New Note9

I have read review and note 9 works with dex cradle. Review stated that booted almost instantly in cradle when it takes sometime with hdmi cable only

I have tested it and it works.
But the docking automatically turns-off the screen of my device. And that is just the new feature of the Note9 that you can stil use your screen. Infact you can use it as an Mouse pad.
But I am glad it Works...

Does hdmi over usbc works with your oneplus 7? Which dongle are you using?
I can confirm that it's working ().
I have not explored it yet, since I received the adapter just recently and I need a keyboard.
But it seems very basic.
Edit: I bought a choetech thingy adapter with power delivery

No, the Note 10 lite is not DeX for PC compatible!

It's better than the more expensive Note 10 phones because it has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a non-curved screen. It's also far less expensive.
It's better than most other phones because it has the S-Pen (which I personally consider to be super useful on on my Note 8).
All in all, it looks like a great phone that offers the best combination of features for the price, especially to those who want a stylus.
So what?
Did I said anything about good or not good? I said it is not DeX compatible.
Btw. I tested this by myself, with my very new Note 10 Lite, coming from a Note 8.

As an owner of the Note 8 who is really impressed by the Note 10 Lite specs/price I'd be very curious to hear more details about this upgrade. What are the biggest advantages and compromises from your point of view?
Front camera sucks.. exchange my note 8 with note 10 lite and it is one of biggest mistake of my life.. performance is definetly better but the feel of curved screen I miss most.. note 9 has much better camera. I suggest to buy note 9 instead of note 10 lite
I am also interested by the Dex feature on this phone. But first as anyone tried to plug this phone a usb c to HDMI on a screen/TV ? I've read somewhere that the USB port does not handle HDMI output....
OK I tried some dongle and there is no HDMI out, like I read here and there on the web (USB-C 2.0 not 3.0).
So I'm wondering if it would be possible to port the new dex that is working over the air.
It is available on Note 20 on the One UI 2.5 update. Any idea ?

No! it doesn't work... it just got the support for USB C HUB's (hubs that have Ethernet, tons of usb ports, memory card readers, usb c power delivery...), but the video output (VGA or HDMI) does not work!!!
I just tried something that might work as DeX... I plugged in the USB C Dock(conected to the hub a wireless keyboard and mouse, ethernet and Power Delivery ) to the Galaxy Note 10 LITE, then I turn on Smart View to broadcast to the TV and I got a experience like DeX on the TV!--- Floating Windows, independent application view, etc---
I'm wondering if the Galaxy Note 10 LITE is not supporting the USB 3.0 just because of lack of the USB 3.0 drivers(ANDROID INTERNAL USB DRIVERS FOR HARDWARE), the Galaxy Note 9 uses the same Exynos 9810 chipset and supports USB 3.0 video output!!!

Can you tell me what Hub are you using ? Does the power delivery work well ? I was just thinking about bying one of those HUB actually...

My guess is, it's not a driver thing but hardware to limit cost. Note 10 lite is not considered as a High End device. That's why we don't get all the good stuff.
I'm gonna try to get my hand on the latest Dex APK and try to decompile and patch it so maybe we can use it on our device wirelessly. But, hey, I'm not an expert so donc expect me to find out any time soon.

I bought the Dodocool 14 in 1 USB C HUB... you can use the ethernet port and works really well, plug a wireless reciever, usb 3.0 or 2.0 and can work together, SD cards too... I haven't try the USB C Data port, all let you know when I test it... and the Power Delivery, I conected the wall charger that came with the Note 10 lite, to the PD port of the HUB and started to charge the phone...
This is the most important feature for a DEVELOPER TO CREATE FOR NOTE 10LITE!
Hardware wise is capable, but SOFTWARE is not permitting this feature. I hope that a DEVELOPER will be so kind to HELP on that!!!
Any app which can be used an alternative for dex?
Is there an hdmi to usb type c adapter that works to see the magic 5g network on tv?

Hey,
Its secure enough i think, it fits almost perfect.
there is a small plastic nipple behind the phone to support it.
you can turn the dock sideways without the phone falling out.
it is very tight in the usb port.
the only suggestion for improvement: insert a little foam on the left and right under the phone for a perfect hold.
Usb ports and chargig port works too...
So u can use display out, charging and a wiered Controller at the same time ( funfact: use a usb network adaper on the second port for best ping )

I use HDMI, mouse & keybord tru USB type C multi hub (hdmi, 3xusb3.0, type c & sd card) and Sentio app (free from store) starts up auto upon hdmi connect, for a near perfect effortless, pc experience on my TV.
Strong build and fast.
Since updating to 3.11, the hdmi tru my hub doesnt work anymore. Phone shuts off or simply nothing happens. Anyone else having that trouble ?
The hub works fine with all other inputs.
* Edit
Fixed.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, i’m new here..
I have a problem with the redmagic Dock that when I use the hdmi via the phone’s usb c port I can’t charge the device with the Dock’s usb c port , it Will Stop the signal to the tv/monitor and start to glitch..
Shouldn’t it charge The device at the same time?
And help or insight would be greatly appreciated .

I plan to buy redmagic dock and using hdmi via type c, too. Can u answer some of my question.
1. Can u discribe the glitch u said? Did u use redmagic for connect internet and charge same time with hdmi hub charge, too?
2. If not, can u test charge seperate and both redmagic dock and/or hdmi hub to see with situation glitch happen.
Thanks
Hey poking in here, I have the RedMagic6Pro and using a switch "covert" dock (like the new genki covert dock but half price lol) it works great with the switch and I got it to work ONCE but ever since can't get video out. Is there an option for this? Thank you!
