Recently, in my phone (LYF Water 4) started ads popping out of nowhere. They were whole screen ads with just a small cross button on top left to close them.Clicking them just redirected to google play store.
I thought this was an adware hence installed all the anti-adware available on play store. None worked hence I had reset my phone using backup and reset as I have read in many other posts. Didn't work .
The ads kept coming in and since it was bearable I ignored them for a while but then suddenly some other programs are automatically downloaded on my phone and prompting me to install I keep cancelling them but they keep coming.
Then I read a post about adware that roots your phone to make itself system app, so i rooted my phone using king root and uninstalled any program that was useless like all bloatware and other system apps, none worked so I thought of again resetting my phone.
This time since king root was a system app it blocked a unknown program named "ADB program" and set it to deny root access. Thankfully I do not have those ad popups anymore but the auto downloading of things didn't go. Apps download in background and then prompt comes to install them.
So I checked the the data usage and a app called Mobile Services nowhere to be found on my mobile apps even with kingroot used 150 Mb of data so i blocked it,installed ccleaner and it found 2 non installed apk's in my phone which i deleted, they were located in android/data/some random number like 15464/......apk.
I deleted them, and blocked Mobile Services by restrict background data, still the problem was not solved. I installed several antivirus like Malwarebytes Anti-malware and all detected my phone camera as malware. SnapdragonCamera.apk
So I checked the battery and data usage and yes camera was in third spot in both hence I uninstalled camera app using kingroot, blocked background services, forced stop, cleared data and cache still no solution, I apps are silently downloaded so is there any hope. Thanks for any kind of help in advance

it's not a big deal, as I can easily reboot to recovery and re-flash root.
however it's getting annoying, and I'm trying to figure out what could be the possible causes that might cause root to "randomly" disappears.
I've tracked down a couple of possible scenarios where root can be lost, due some failed patching of some sort, but it still doesn't explains other cases like when launching a game from the Google Play store, then hanging and after End Task, to find out that Root is gone.
I use an app called Auto Mount along with my 120GB microSD so I can keep all my apps/games running without filling up the built-in storage. I also use Titanium backup and Droid Wall, BusyBox and many other Utility Apps that needs root.
Yet all those are well known trusted apps, so I have no clue what or if anything is being send down from Google Play store to reset root
Recently Google Play have been doing weird things, and needs to often delete the cache / data, so things can be downloaded or updated properly, otherwise you'll get those typical play store error codes.
Anybody else suspect or got an idea what could be causing this issue?
so, after additional test, I noticed anytime I make a change to the blocking rules in DroidWall, it causes the problem after applying the new changes.
Another app that seems to also kills root is CSR racing update by itself, after letting it update, it also kills root.
newer version of CSR does not uses google play to update, also it ignores the blockings in DroidWall
Alot of the issue could be that the way android mounts the SD card it was never made for apps. I will bet that if you stop using auto mount and store the apps an the normal storage you will stop seeing this issue.
Hi everyone,
At a bit of a loss here. My gf has a nexus 5 running android 6 and she keeps getting loud adverts playing when her phone is sleeping.
It is intermittent, no set pattern and as soon as the power button is pressed there is no trace of anything.
I have googled excessively and can find no one else who has experienced it.
I have removed lots of her apps that could be suspect but today it happened and I heard it with my own ears. They appear to be targeted ads as it played an audio ad for a national car chip repair service.
Any help or advice welcomed.
Thinking of doing a factory reset of the phone.....

One way to find out which app is causing this is to go to Settings->Apps->Running and see what all apps are listed here.
Try looking uninstalling the user apps listed here one by one and check if the problem is fixed.
Normally it has to be a Game app or sth. like that.
Cheers.

I tried doing that, and nothing obvious was running. The only thing it claimed was running was Android Web View - which would make sense, the ads are probably javascript and HTML5 audio elements., but I could not see what was invoking the web view to open.
I did run a malware scan using malwarebytes for andorid and it ALWAYS crashed when scanning chrome, even after I cleared the chrome cache and data. Which made me suspect chrome was infact infected.
On a more depressing note, I did end up factory reseting the phone, and did a clean install, and installed her "vital" apps (to make sure it did not restore a "bad" application) and my gf has just alerted me to the fact it has begun speaking to her again! Arrghh.
I would of thought a factory reset would have removed all traces of this thing.
Would it be worth doing (the rather drastic) full factory reset, using the google provided factory images and ADB/Fastboot?

The odd thing is there is NO notification at all. You can just hear the advert, and once the screen comes on, there is no sign of it ever happening!
No notifications, no open applications in the app draw. Very annoying!

Well,that's strange.
Only thing that is left to try is a full reset, as I guess the media is stored somewhere in the internal storage and is played by some adware.
Just back up only the essential folders ( like DCIM,Music, etc.) and nothing more from your internal storage prior to a full reset.
That should solve the problem.
Cheers.
I sometimes write apps and install them to my devices.
Lately I've noticed that the apps seem to disappear.
I have turned off GOOGLE PLAY store scanning of external Apps - and it still seems to happen. It doesn't happen if I DISABLE GOOGLE PLAY and GOOGLE FRAMEWORK, but as I need them to have my apps connect to Google - I am forced to turn them on from time to time.... thus ending in apps being deleted.
Anyone come across this before?
Strange, my phone never uninstalls any apps. Although one of my cheap crappy phones kept deleting specific apps on reboot and deleting files, never figured out why.
Anyway, it shouldn't be happening, try resetting your phone and see if it still happens.
I recently moved to rooted android 11 (pixel 4A) from jailbroken iOS so I'm very new to Android.
I've read through googling that disabling RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED permissions will stop the apps from autostarting but whilst this stops a good proportion of apps, a number of apps such as Termux are still getting through. Some apps don't even have RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED but they're still able to start. I have disabled app syncing on my device. I've tried multiple apps such as Task Manager and SD maid and this small proportion of apps are still autostarting.
Does anyone have any clues as to how to fix it?
If an app doesn't listen to BOOT_COMPLETED broadcast then it doesn't care about this event.

Hmm, so maybe there's some kind of service running after the boot that starts it? Or some kind of delayed boot? I thought it might have been due to sync reopening apps or something but when I disabled that it still kept showing up. And those apps aren't listed in the Services part of the Developer Services either...
ok I figured it out, my pixel remembers what apps I have open before a reboot and reloads them afterwards. so remove all apps from the memory before rebooting and nothing will be remembered
I have been using my Xiaomi Redmi 4(running on miui global 11.0.2, android 7.1.2) for almost 2 years now and never have I experienced such strange issues. Here's a list of some:
1)Play store: Cannot download any apps from play store. It says the app could not be downloaded, please troubleshoot. So I read the solutions, cleared cache and data from play store. I even uninstalled updates. When I tried to download or update any app, firstly the download did not start(it said downloading and never downloaded anything). Then I closed the app, cleared cache and data and opened it again(keep in mind this is the old version of play store as I uninstalled updates). This time the download started, but it reached around 13.60 mb/30mb and stopped. Then it said downloading again and restarted the download from 0 mb, reached 14.74 mb and stopped again. It kept looping like this 3 or 4 times and then I closed the app. I tried again, this time it download the whole 30 mb but gave me the error -506.
Chrome: I figured if I could not download apps from play store I would just download the APKs from chrome, but this didn't work either. When I clicked the download button chrome said "1 download pending" and waiting for network when I had a full strength connection. I tried again, cleared app cache and data, restarted the phone but again it showed download pending(I assure you it is not a connection problem). However browsing on the chrome app is completely fine, its just that I cannot download any files.
YouTube(app) keeps signing me out for no reason. It gives me an error and tells me to remove my account and sign in again. I go to settings and try to remove my Google account the remove account button is broken. I have tried to open the app again after rebooting, but instead of giving me the error the app crashes and it says YouTube has Stopped(and keeps stopping). I have cleared cache, cleared data and rebooted but none of that works. Whenever I clear data or reboot and try to open the app, it crashed and says the app has stopped. I have tried to update the app but I cant- both my play store and chrome are broken.
When I reboot the phone the system tells me "android.acore.process" has stopped. I looked up this error on the internet, it said to clear the contacts data and cache. Did it. But this didnt fix the first 3 problems. I have no clue what acore process does.
I tried to play the "among us" video game(i had installed it before all these bugs started coming up) but whenever I open the game it says "insufficient space to download resources". I have tons of space left and this has never happened earlier.
WiFi not working: I click the WiFi button by scrolling the menu from the top of the screen but it doesn't turn on. I go to the WiFi settings and it says "turning WiFi on" but it never turns on. I rebooted my phone and by luck, somehow, the WiFi turned on and I haven't dared to turn it off since.
7)Settings search has stopped: I've been getting this error for quite some months now, and I don't think this is what's causing all the above problems. But I could be wrong, I have no idea
Never before seen strange system issues: I had a game APK saved from before. I tried to install it, it said "problem parsing the package"(I had installed the game from this same APK earlier) . Then I cleared the cache and data of package installer and tried installing, this time it said "insufficient storage space available" when I had plenty left. Please, why is every app malfunctioning? These are my storage stats btw: oh never mind, I tried to click a screenshot, it said "could not capture screenshot". Wow. Anyway, I have 2.39 GB free out of 16gb on internal storage and 25 GB free on my SD card.
I also have McAfee Antivirus Plus(the paid version) on my phone. I scanned and found no viruses. I also scanned with the Xiaomi built in security centre and found no issues.
The only real cause I can figure is that I might have deleted some system files. A few days ago I was on the drives app to clear the "other files" which are a huge mess on Xiaomi, and I deleted a couple of them. Is it possible I might have deleted an important file?
However I saw YouTube tutorials before deleting the "other files", they said it is alright to delete the other files as long as they're not named obb or backup files. Or is this a system bug? I have been on the miui 11.0.2 for about an year and I've never seen this happen before.
I've already called up the Xiaomi Service Centre in my area but they have no clue what's going on. They told me to factory reset the phone but I don't want to lose my data. They also said that if the system has been corrupted, factory reset will do no good but they told me try it anyway.
Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on? Maybe some software developers know which file I might've deleted by mistake, or is it some other bug. Please help. My phone is a nightmare!
