Hello,
I prefer black faced phones, but recently received an almost new white Moto X pure (XT1575) as a gift. An exchange is not viable, as there is no receipt (and it was used a few hours for compatibility testing).
I've seen colored (non-display face area) glass screen protectors for other phones, and thought it would be a great option to turn the face black/darker, but haven't been able to find any for the Moto X pure. Do any such products exist?
I don't know any of those "colored glass screen protectors", but you can use skins from the following companies (might have more, but i only know these):
DBrand
Slickwraps
Stickerboy
Skinomi
If those skin makers don't have you covered get used to white I tried nearly all screen protectors trying to find one that did not halo and none had colored parts. Also pleson is the one I got that stuck to my phone without much of a halo...
The only glass screen protector for this phone like that is from Tranesca which you can find on Amazon. However it will not cover the white face completely (which is obvious when you see the pictures). They have white and black colors but are designed to help the screen protector "blend" and be less noticeable. Another strange caveat: it is a floating glass with the adhering part bring the areas where the white or black is.
I personally use the black one on a black face and it works OK.
Not worth the hassle, but if you must...

This. It's the closest thing to what you're looking for, but it doesn't cover the I/O area at the top of the face of the device, so it'll still obviously be a white phone. Also, the transparent areas for the proximity sensors on the bottom will probably look a little odd too.
That said, I tried the Trancesca screen protector, but ultimately wasn't happy with it because the mask actually cuts off the far edges of the screen, so you may have to turn the phone to see text that is too close to the edge. Also, it just doesn't feel as good as a conventional glass protector that adheres fully to the screen. Tapping one's thumb against it, it just feels plasticky and unsatisfying. For that reason, I've given up on tempered glass protectors altogether for this phone and am completely happy except for the fact that the TPU I'm using has a massive lip that is no longer compensated for. Still, the viewing angles gained are worth the compromise. Just don't scratch your screen.

Thank you for elaborating on this. It took some getting used to this screen protector because of the kind of plastic feel you describe. The blocking of text is pretty rare for me so I just deal with it since I prefer to have my screen protected from scratches. I live near beaches and with sand being common place, it is worth the little bit of hassle. All glass screen protectors I have owned have scratched, but none of my devices' screens have any. The only other glass options either leave noticeable halos or are just shy of the edge of the viewable screen (which leaves a noticeable line in field of vision), which to me are both annoying as I consistently notice them.

Hello, guys, I am going to buy a Surface soon, and a very important thing for me is how does the screen look when thhere is a matte screen protector on in. I really hate glare and fingerprints, especially on tablets, all of my friends put screen protectors on their iPads and it was much better expeience than an iPad without it (fuuuuuull of fingerprints).
On the other hand, I had a matte screen protector on my Galaxy Nexus and it was a bad experience - there was a huge pixelization or whatever like that. So I wonder if Surface's screen does look the same great with matte screen protector on it as an iPad or it is not.
Has anyone tried it?
I don't have a matte screen protector, but i put a cheap glossy type on it (weren't alot of choices a few weeks back). Thing is I can never get these things on without specks of dirt and bubbles (I even tried the shower steam trick). It looks okay but I figure I will need to do it again soon.
But after hearing stories about how durable the Surface is and the screen (somew guy had his run over by a car) I am tempted to ga bare since it looks the best that way. Not sure a matte protector would look good though as the reason why the display looks good is the glossy contract.
I got the Incipio PLEX screen protector on mine, but it's not matte. It's less fingerprint prone than the naked screen (although, not by much), but I use it mostly with the keyboard so it doesn't bother me. My guess is the privacy one is should be matte. You can check them out both here:

If it's not matte, then what is it? Is it just 100% crystal clear and not anti-glare (matte) right?
I got the anti-glare Ghost Armor on my RT. I love it.
There are some caveats to it though. Anti-glare works by scattering light, so reflected light doesn't all go the same direction. This means three things:
First, it scatters light on the way out too, so it does dull the display a bit. Not a lot but the colors are ever so slightly less vibrant.
Second, because it is a whole bunch on microscopic bumps, it does have microscopic artifacting that comes from the optic nature of the plastic. Because pixels have three different color subpixels, and because it is scattering the light from those, so it does look somewhat textured. If that makes sense. (This could potentially be what you're referring to when you say "pixelization".)
Third, fingerprints are a little more unsightly. If your hands are reasonably clean, then this shouldn't be much of an issue, but when I am using my Surface at Chick-fil-a or something, the grease (and Chick-fil-a is not a greasy place) is noticeable. It's because, like I said, the light scattering effect comes from microscopic bumps. The grease from your fingers fills the space between the bumps, giving is a much more glossy-like coating, which stands out when contrasted with the rest of the matte display.
None of these are dealbreakers obviously, as I still love it. The display is gorgeous enough that the slight dulling of the colors is acceptable, the textured look is far preferred over seeing my own reflection, and the grease thing doesn't come up much and regular fingerprints are less noticeable.
But being able to use my Surface even when in direct sunlight is amazing. I would recommend it whole-heartedly.
9/10
Because of the scattering due to the microscopic roughness that makes the Matte screens what they are, my experience was bad enough that I decided to live without a screen protector for now. The clarity of text clearly suffered on mine and made it look blurry.
Here's my review of the Mediadevil's Magicscreen Matte Clear Edition screen protector.
I had a browse on Amazon UK and stumbled across these, after debating whether to get a clear or a matte version, I opted for the matte for the anti glare and slight finger print resistance. The pixelation/degradation effect did cross my mind, but after seeing a review on Amazon and a response from Callum the founder of Mediadevil, I took the plunge.
Ordered on Tues 7th May, selected the 3-5 day delivery option, got an email not too long after informing that my order has been dispatched. To my surprise I got them this morning!
On the padded envelope was a big warning to the postie NOT to bend it! Haha! Normally that's an invitation for them to do so, but I've known my postie for years and he treats his deliveries with utmost care!
Inside was the package were the following
Paperwork
Some sweets! LOL! Nice touch! Thanks!
White outer card with Mediadevil logo cut out wrapping around two screen protectors (so nicely protected and to keep the screen protectors straight)
Instructions on the reverse of the Mediadevil card package, nice way to save paper
A credit card style calender on both sides, double up as squeegee maybe?
A (microfibre?) cleaning cloth with their logo on it (though the cloth felt and looked a little rough)
I normally just line up the screen protector on the screen to get a feel of what the sizing of the protector looks like, and this one left little or no room for errors, looks like just under 1mm of space either side for movement. Cut outs where around the earpiece and home button, sensors flanking the earpiece left and right were covered by the screen protector, and the front camera had a small cut out.
Installation was a breeze, got a few dust pieces trapped under, but the usual cellotape trick sorted them out! I found this particular screen protector more "studier" than others, not sure if it was the matte option, but normally when installing screen protectors, I get the odd crease here and there when pulling the 1st shield away and sticking to the screen, but with this, there was no creasing. After installing, the 2nd shield came away easily without pulling the screen protector away from the screen! Others like to pull the screen protector away from the screen, resulting in you having to reapply it again, getting dust, bending it, etc.
Managed to fit mine "almost" perfect in one go, in this particular case, it just a tad too low.
Feedback after some use, degradation of screen is visible, but it's definitely less than other traditional matte screen protectors, you can only see some pixel effects on some movies. More evident on text based objects, such as emails or browsing the web, but again the degradation is much smaller than other matte screen protectors I've previously used.
Feels nice and glossy when using it, however any stubborn fingerprints do require a cloth and a quick breathe over the screen to remove. Dust seems to stay away, which is a bonus. The anti glare is nice to have, though the weather isn't so great today, so haven't tested the screen outdoors, probably will come back and update this once I get the chance.
Sensors work fine, tested the smart scroll on a few emails and they worked fine, so no worries there.
Price on Amazon was £7.97 (currently £2 discount) with free 3-5 delivery option. I had a quick browse on Mediadevil's website and they're offering it at the same price, although out of stock! Price is higher compared to other companies, though I believe you pay a little extra for better quality. Other companies where offering 6-12 screen protectors! What on earth am I going to do with the rest? Change it every other week?
My only gripes is the cut out option for the front facing camera, it's more a cut away than a cut out, rather than the traditional "O" style cut out for the front camera, it's a "U" shape (pics enclosed), so I'm concerned that the corners will be more prone to snaring and pulling the screen protector away. Previous experience of this was on the S3, but the glass was slightly curved near the edges, so that was a major contributor. Will see how long this lasts till it snags.
I've added a few pictures to show the effects of the matte finish, sorry they're not the best of pictures, don't have access to a DLR camera at the moment. If I can upload better shots or if there are any requests for specific shots, I'll do my best to do so.
Looking to get a Spigen Glas.tR SLIM at some point, loving the featherweight of the S4 at the moment.
Great review! I just got my S4 yesterday and I'm wondering what is that home/lock screen app that you have? Looks pretty neat!

Thanks, hope you're enjoying your new phone, I know I am!
Below are the links for the homescreens that I'm using.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244735&page=14
http://mycolorscreen.com/2013/04/29/reworked-pages/
with all the issues reported on tempered glass protectors (I'd originally bought one myself) I ended up going with the Spigen tpu screen cover and the clear case with feels solid and they work together fine.
While browsing about I came across this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161986959...49&var=461159948372&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Its like a reverse case, essentially wrapping the phone completely and yes, the touch and sPen work fine through it. OK it doesn't feel like glass and you do get some polarisation when viewed at an extreme angle, but I kinda figure its better to have the whole glass covered than not and you don't use your phone at >60 degree angles generally, well I don't anyway. I left the spigen screen protector on under it, at least any dust getting under the skin won't get to scratch the glass itself and hasn't caused any issues. Unlike the Spigen case that leaves a lip at top/bottom of the phone body this is uniform which helps it slide in/out smoothly of the Brodit universal mount in the car to which I added a Qi plate.
May well order up one of these to see if it has a better feel to it, but that'll have to wait until the house move is done
https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&r...9NA0q32Vq0bQj4ytimoM0w&bvm=bv.135258522,d.bGs
Somehow I doubt the drop protection on these is up to the "proper" cases but I'm more concerned about the edge glass suffering as that seems to be the real achilles heel on this "brilliant" design. Pity they never offered a flat non-edge version as I'd have much preferred that but other than that I'm more than happy with the phone overall...
hope this helps, at least another case option to consider
ok to update after a few days use...
So far happy with it, I did "shrink" the case a little in hot water to get it to be a more cozy fit.
Now its a bright day here, you do have a screen covered in dots with direct sun/very bright lighting but still fine if shaded. Also noted polarized glasses show rainbow patterns from the edges in the same way as viewed from acute angles.
For me, it'll do for now till something else comes along. At that price its OK for my needs
Has anyone purchased a tempered glass screen protector for this phone that they like?
Most of the ones I have looked at on amazon have complaints that they interfere with the fingerprint scanner or they have great reviews but aren't even available for another month. LOL.

I m using trink(unbreakable ) bought from shop
I've always gone for a matte protector in the past but there were none on the market and I found myself enjoying the clarity of an unadulterated screen. So I decided to go for tempered glass and bought these
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B073T91BR7
Got two in a pack. Wasn't happy with the application of the first one I put on, so pulled it off and used the second one which I am 99% happy with. Small bubble on one extreme edge which really isn't a problem other than it triggers my OCD. In terms of the protector itself, it's a nice feel tempered glass affair and feels no different to the glass of the original screen. My one criticism is that it is slightly smaller than I think it needs to be. It covers the screen area - just. The cut outs at the top are odd (unless there's a sensor next to the front camera that I don't know about. Personally think they'd have been better off not bothering with the top cutouts and just making it a straight line underneath the earpiece. The cutout for the fingerprint sensor fits well. It actually adds height to the well in which the sensor fits, so it kind of guides your finger to the right location. I use the swipe navigation so I suppose time will tell whether it gets in the way on that front.
A 7 out of 10 for me.
I just installed iVoler on my wife's phone.
The top cutouts are weird... I messed up my first tgsp trying to align the flash cutout. Gratefully it was a 2-pack.
Managed to install it without any bubble and almost centered. She doesn't do selfies, so the front-facing flash is not important, and it still works well, it's just inelegant imo (cf. pictures)
Other than that it's a fingerprint magnet, it does not adhere well on the sides and on the top left corner, but it does the job ok for now.
I'll see if someone finds a better one and probably change it.
I don't recommend it

Replying to myself here, but downgrading to a 2 out of 10. A few days in and I have a ding in the protector slap bang in the middle of the screen. Someone less OCD than I would probably put up with it but I don't think I can. My eyes keep getting drawn to it.
I have not tried any tempered glass protectors, but I did install these on both my and my wife's phone. It's pretty good, especially the clarity, it's somewhat okay in resisting fingerprints, but when the screen is on, it's hard to notice any fingerprint smudges. If you can't find a tempered glass protector you like, these will do nicely.
[8-Pack] Moto G5S Plus Screen Protector on Amazon
What you think about this, quality?
by dipos - Motorola Moto G5s Plus Screen Protector - 2x dipos Flexible Glass 9H Display Protection?
They're awful, tempered glasses don't go over to the edges because the screen is slightly curved, plus they get super sweaty, reflective and gross in general. Took off mine, won't recommend.

Wow, that one looks like it wasn't even made for your phone, the size is too small and the cutout is wrong - surely any model sold specifically for "G5S Plus" should be a better fit?
I bought the same one linked in the 3rd post, but I have NOT put it on yet. The biggest complaint people have with it is "does not go to the edge" . It is not supposed to!
I have the Spigen case with carbon fiber texture inserts. It wraps around the top edges of the g5s+. So a full front protector would either not let the case fit properly AND / OR would push up the edges of the screen protector.
They said it would not cover the whole screen but I didn't think it would be this extreme. Looking straight down on the device you'd see pixels outside of the screen protector on both sides.
Riffue.cn
This one is wider and covers all the pixels, but since it does not follow the screen curve there's about 1.5mm of free hanging protector on each side.
Panzer.me
For this one they tried to curve it along the screen edge, but it didn't quite fit, which caused large areas where the protector would lift from the screen. The downwards facing edge of the protector seems to be covered in the glue like substance, the central area of the protector did not stick to the phone in any way. Possibly because of the bad fit there would be some air between the protector and phone in the middle of the screen, this caused some missed taps. Away of the center of the protector the touch recognition would be better. This one seemed the least susceptible to fingerprints.
Thank you for the testing.
So I will not buy one of these.
Maybe I will try a thin l foil or I will use it without any protection.
thanks to who invented these fu*king curved screens.. for us that always use glass protectors it is simply a nightmare.. or you use protectors as big as the pixeled area and live with the edges coming off, or you take protectors smaller than the pixeled area that looks bad and don't protect all the screen.. damn
curious to know if this curved glass would be any better?
https://www.roxfit.mobi/collections...ed-clear-tempered-glass?variant=2219880841228
I am on the road so I cant post any pics, but I have the roxfit curved protector. It does match the screen except the curve isn't perfect thus the very edge around the entire screen is collecting dust. With the screen sensitivity issue however I'm debating on pulling it off. Hitting the same button 2-3 times to get something to register sucks
To be honest, this is what is putting me off buying this phone is the curved screen, i really dont see the point of it to be honest, tempted to jusct pick up the XZ1 compact instead.
You really can't even tell the screen is curved at all. Just the edges are slightly. It's not even noticeable.
yeah if the curved screen is the only thing preventing you from getting this phone, forget it, apart from this (and you'll notice just if you use glass protectors) the phone is simply wonderful in all other aspects l

Thanks both, best go and check it out in person, perhaps judging it before i have seen it in my hand is a bit negative.
Thanks
Bugs of a new phone. The protector I got also overhanged into the curve. (I was under the impression that it was a curved screen protector when buying it, but it was not.) I assume these companies didn't have exact specs or physical phones to get it perfect with, and since we all want our phones protected from day one, they have to release what they got. :/
Has anyone found a screen protector that fits halfway decently yet?
i used a liquid screen protector called nanofixit in the netherlands. it makes the screen super smooth and didn't have a scratch after a week usage without any case. i had to send it back for repair and will have it back tomorrow.

I've tried this one as well and might have a worse fit than what you're experiencing. It was impossible to get a complete seal in the glue around the edge. The bad fit made the center of the screen an especially bad place the get touches registered, even worse then the panzer.me glass. IIRC there was also a shimmering issue between the edge of the LCD and whatever non-stick film they've put under the protector.
Does curved screen protectors exist for other phones that does not rely on a glue around the edges to stay put?

it seems the nanofixit products might not be worth the asking price. (Scam perhaps?)
Did you get your phone back? What was the issue? Do you usually get scratches on phones in a weeks time?
I'm asking because fail to see how a thin layer of liquid could provide any scratch resistance, besides whatever the screen already has. And as such it might just make liquid slide off the screen easily for a while and not much else.
It is my belief the nano liquid products are a scam. Granted I've never tried it myself.....but I don't see how it could possibly work.

it was my misstake for not being clearer when posting my message, I have another problem with the phone which is not related to the screen at all. My phone can't receive incoming calls for some reason. The screen is still in a tip top shape and i have also accidentally dropped the phone on a stone floor from around 0,5 meters. Nothing to see on the screen (or the phone for that matter). The reason that it can work in my opinion is that you can have very hard plastic nowadays that is not worse than metal (see carbon fiber for example). If they can keep it in a liuid state and it can harden itself out when in contact with air, why is it not possible? Chemistry is nowadays so advanced I wouldn't be surprised if they can make even better nano coatings, if you have enough money for it
Bought Skinomi's protector and it was a perfect fit. It is not a hard screen protector its more of a clear flexible skin. Due to it being flexible it molded right to the curved edges of the screen without any issues. Until they come up with a hard protector this should do just fine though, atleast itll keep minor scuffs and scratches to a minimum.
Ultimate Shield seems to do its job - at least for me. Uses glue to stick, but covers the whole screen. Makes a bit harder to register touch sometimes.
