You can still flash back to stock with Odin and S Health has a fix so that works and Smart Switch works as far as I know

How to OTA on a rooted S6?

When I try to check for updates it tells me that my device has been updated in an unauthorized way. Is there a way to fix this aside from unrooting my device and reflashing stock?
would rootcloak fix this....once we get xposed.

No, when you root your phone the knox counter go to 0x0 to 0x1 and that is the issue, no ota updates with konox 0x1 only via odin.

Knox stays untripped with PingPong-root. But the OTA update thing finds that the phone has been tampered with so you can't get any OTAs through your phone. I guess we'll have to update with Smart Switch and re-root afterwards?

I would imagine someone will upload a file to flash through Odin to update. That will surely trip Knox though. If we're lucky we can do what you said (If that exploit isn't patched in 5.1).
I'm guessing as this is only my third smartphone, and the first two where HTC.
If you have root you can flash official firmware from Sammobile through Odin, that gets rid of root and any modified system settings and then you will be able to update ota. The best part is that it keeps your data in tact and also not trip Knox counter

By "data" do you really also mean all programs with their data included?

But if you reflash stock-rom via Smart Switch, you can get OTA again.

My knox is 0x01 so?

Ok, i have flash BL without knowing the knox counter, now its 0x01... well, my question are:
In future it will be possible a reset?
No warranty?
Will rise again the counter of knox if i flash rom or kerner, or its only for BL?

What bootloader?
Where did I you find it?
Knox cannot be reset. With a tripped Knox you cannot use Samsung Pay nor get OTA updates, and also you voided your warranty.

1) whether or not Samsung Pay is affected our not hasn't been proven yet. I wouldn't normally use it anyway
2) OTA receipt is no different from any other rooted device, unroot and it should work or just wait for a Rom with the new OTA built in.
3) warranty really depends on what the issue is, if you deal with your wireless provider or have to deal with Samsung and where you are.
It had never been a big deal or a hindrance to me on past devices.

No, that both Samsung Pay and OTA updates won't work not because tripping knox, but because rooted device. Also online bank security keycode apps won't work in a rooted device as Samsung Pay won't, just because pay security reasons. With tripped knox and non rooted device both functionalities should still work.
What won't work with tripped knox (rooted or not rooted) is Samsung My Knox, so you won't be able to use both personal and enterprise enviroment on same device, or you won't be able to use two different whatsapp accounts on same device using My Knox (without need of third party whatsapp clients or swap directories or things like that...).

Root G920FXXU2BOFJ without tripping KNOX?

Hey dudes,
I'm relatively new to Samsung devices, so I have few big questions.
1. Is it possible to root the new firmware G920FXXU2BOFJ without tripping KNOX counter?
2. If there is a way to root but only with tripping KNOX, can I somehow reset the counter and go back to 100% stock without any traces?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, there is a method using PingPong Root however you need to be on 5.0.2. If not then unfortunately there is no way to root at the moment without tripping knox.
I know about PingPong Root. But I'm asking to root 5.1.1! ?

There is currently no way to reset the counter at the moment. I am sure some devs will figure it out at some point.
Alright! Thanks a bunch....Guess that means waiting for me

KNOX 0*1 >> Can i still get OTA updates?

Hi Guys!
(I don't care whole knox thing, even warranty)
Can i still get ota updates if i got knox warranty void 0x1(phone into *samsung*)?
Of course i flashed stock firmware back with odin.
In downloading mode i get
Current Status: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
Knox warranty void: 1 (0*0301)
Knox doesnt affect ota updates. Only root disables ota.

What do you mean by absolutely not? I thought Triangle Away resets the KNOX tripping. And I was reading it still worked on S6... Are you saying it's impossible to "un-trip" KNOX now?

Triangle away doenst reset the Knox counter, it resets the flash counter. This is very different.
There is no tool which can reset the Knox counter.

So the two years that I've had my S5 rooted, my warranty was voided and irreversible? Huh. I've never needed any assistance from Sprint and I'm hoping I won't now. Makes me feel better to know that I'm in no different a position than I have been. I just have to hope my phone works perfectly.
Would that affect my ability to sell my S5 back to Sprint? Sorry if I'm not on this thread's topic exactly... Should I end my line of questioning in this thread?
Just keep flashing the latest updates on your own by getting stock firmware and using Odin, that's what I would do if I ever went back to a non-rooted device - might go back just to try Samsung Pay.

Can I downgrade from nougat to marshmallow on S7 edge without knox tripped?

I have a s7 edge. I want to downgrade from nougat to marshmallow without tripping knox. Is it possible??
Plz help
Yes, you only trip KNOX by flashing custom, if you flash stock with ODIN your KNOX will remain 0x0
Are you sure ? Have you tried it? Because i dont want to take any risks. Thanks

Why even ask if you're gonna question the answer?
I wouldn't say it if I wasn't sure, not to mention it is common knowledge which you would have learned had you read any threads at all first
Yes, I've done it many times to my S7, still 0x0
Sorry if I was rude in any way. I just wanted to know if it trips or not. And since you say you have done it plenty of times i believe you
Don't worry about it, just a bit strange to ask a question on a forum, get an answer, and then ask the person if they are sure as if they will suddenly change their minds
Yes, don't worry, as long as the ROM is STOCK, and you use ODIN, KNOX will not be tripped
I haven flashed back and forth between Nougat and MM to test camera photo quality, my KNOX is still 0x0

Sorry for hijacking the thread, so basically you don't trip KNOX simply by rooting? As long as you root and stay or flash stock rom you remain 0x0?

Once you flash twrp or any thing else other than stock rom stuff your knox counter gets to 0x1.
Btw @detection What do you prefer Mm or nougat?

Root is custom, therefore KNOX will be tripped
Only stock ROMs do not trip KNOX

Prefer Nougat, MM felt childish once I flashed back, big chunky icons and settings look like they're designed for children or old people
Nougat looks and feels much more professional, things are faster to respond with Nougat such as fingerprint unlock
All round the better OS for my S7

Hi, I'm planning to downgrade my S7edge 8.0 to 6.0 due to touch issue, I'm wondering if there's anything I need to do before flashing the official firmware using Odin?
