Root G920FXXU2BOFJ without tripping KNOX? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey dudes,
I'm relatively new to Samsung devices, so I have few big questions.
1. Is it possible to root the new firmware G920FXXU2BOFJ without tripping KNOX counter?
2. If there is a way to root but only with tripping KNOX, can I somehow reset the counter and go back to 100% stock without any traces?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, there is a method using PingPong Root however you need to be on 5.0.2. If not then unfortunately there is no way to root at the moment without tripping knox.

I know about PingPong Root. But I'm asking to root 5.1.1! ?

Okay, thanks. Is there any way to reset the KNOX counter (like TriangleAway), e.g. when I flash a stock rom will that reset the counter??

There is currently no way to reset the counter at the moment. I am sure some devs will figure it out at some point.

Alright! Thanks a bunch....Guess that means waiting for me

Even with the latest os 5.0?
I used to have an s4 and back then no one has found out a way to root it without tripping Knox and I'm not going to flash any custom rom. I just want the xposed framework and lucky patcher

Really, and how is that done. I have an S5 on AT&T running 5.0, phone was replaced through warranty for a newer version of the S5.
Towelroot didn't even work on my phone when it was on 4.4.2 through 4.4.4
So if there is any that you know how to root my phone, please let me know because I've been looking for a working root since I obtained the phone.

[Q] Upgrade from 5.0.2 (rooted) to 5.1.1 without tripping KNOX possibility?

Hello everybody
I want to upgrade to Android 5.1.1 without tripping KNOX. Is there a way to upgrade via FlashFire? I heard that is not possible because the new bootloader has a write protection (only downgrade is not possible anymore).
My current rom is G920FXXU1AOE3 rooted with PingPong-root.
Thanks in advance

You can unroot and upgrade without tripping knox. Although the only working root method for 5.1 is a slightly modified stock kernel (to my knowledge) which in turn will trip your knox. And yes, you're correct, once upgraded to 5.1 you cannot downgrade without special equipment.

I thought so. Hmm what if I try to flash the full stock firmware G920FXXU2BOFJ (DBT) over FlashFire with the EverRoot option and flash the bootloader via Odin?

I can't answer that with certainty but sounds good in theory. Awfully risky shot in the dark though ;(

Unfortunately it doesn't work. I'm stuck now on Android 5.1.1 unrooted ??
A downgrade doesn't work even if I repackaged the firmware file (with 5.1.1 bootloader and 5.0.2 system, kernel and modem etc). It stops while flashing kernel... ?
For those who failed to root, have a look at this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qL9qKbQa54 It helped me rooted my S6 with Android 5.1.1 and Knox is still OK

Any progress on root for 920I 5.1.1 knox 0X0?

Hey guys,
I am planning to move to 5.1.1 stock G920IIUS2COH1 for my 920I but I want to know if there is still no possible solution to root without tripping KNOX?
I have 5.0.2 rooted I did not install TWRP to avoid tripping KNOX, is this better to stick like that?
Thank you
You will not hear of a fix, it might come, it might never not. If you need root stick to 502

It's possible if someone manages to leak the engineering bootloader for G920I

To receive ota updates, you'll have to unroot it though unless u flash via odin! For rooting methods, search the forum.
From a personal experience I don't find the need to root. Package Disabler Pro is here to disable any app, themes customize almost everything in the phone, TW is fast enough.
Why would you like to root?
There are tons of guides and tutorials here in the s6 section. It should help you in your way. Your free to root as you wish haha.
As for the knox, Engineered bootloader is okay but with no fingerprint scanner. Its the only way to root without tripping Knox. Any root method aside frm this will trip knox

[NEED UPDATE]Root N915G Without tripping knox?

Hi,
I know this has been posted a few times before but i was looking for an update.
I am looking to root my N915G without tripping the knox counter as i have only just got it and still want a valid warranty. I am aware that if i downgrade to kitkat i might be able to use kingroot to root without tripping knox but ideally i want to keep lollipop. I have tried all of the rooting apk's however all of them fail.
Is there any temporary solution that could work without tripping knox?
Thanks,
Alex
I would love that 2!
