Doubt windows 8. Windows RT... maybe...
Someone would need to port ROM from existing samsung win RT tablets...
Not even sure if its possible. Hopefully others who know more can tell on feasibility.

Please!!!
That would be so sweeeeet...
The best from both worlds
Kevin
I do not thing you will be able to install Windows 8 though RT version is made for ARM processors so should be possible may be some day some expert will manage as for you to install it you need the drivers to the hardware inside
Where this is clearly possible I think you will find the windows RT software licence will not allow any kind of porting to other devices, as such DEV would quite rightly not be permitted on XDA.
Windows rt was ported to htc hd2 a 3 years old device, so it should be possible

i cant see this going anywhere due to licencing issues, the project will certainly have very limited exposure on here for good reasons. I'd certaintly install it though if it did come to pass.
Should definitely be possible, just a matter of time..
It should be possible, but the question is why would I do that Windows 8 has not got great reviews
There is great hope for an Ubuntu 12.10 port (native) witch is far greater then win 8 rt ! (win 8 (not rt) it is impossible to port do to different cpu architecture)

Possible if they are using same proccesor. Just need sometime
Sorry if I rain on your parade and I go upstream.........
Which is the point of replacing Android, which is THE BEST when it comes to touchscreen tablets, with the crappiest operating system called "Windows 8"?????''
You should know Microsoft is definitely going to the dogs with this new OS - they swore to us this W would be a revolution and it's a Vista replication instead - increasingly slow and complicated. I bought W8 in November and I've had it updated once a day for two months - minor o major bugs, I don't know but certainly it drives me up the wall, the more updated, the slower.
I thought it wouldn't be as brilliant as Microsoft reckoned, but I wonder how an OS could have a minimum number of downsides in order to be considered just an "improvement".... ****!
So I've got to get a N8000 to fix my mobility issues - the app collection really sorted out everthing to me - and now I should think about a W8-working N8000......... sorry......... what the ****'s that???
I agree

Thank you
Asus releasing a tegra 3 quad core tablet that runs full Windows 8 when docked and gives user choice of Win8 or Android 4.1 when detached as a tablet. So there is compatibility.

Wow do you own a windows 8 computer.and know difference in win8 and win8 rt.win 8 on new hardware ia rock solid rt is new amd under powered
Check out this
Probably no
Nope.
Hi,
do you think it will be possible to install windows 8 RT (windows 8 arm processors version) like new Samsung Ativ?
Is there some dev interested to do this?
No... You're asking to install ios on android or vice versa... No drivers and different file structures, not to mention hardware difference, don't allow us to run win8 on an android device. This question has been asked since the galaxy tab7" gen 1 (and win 7) came out. I haven't seen it on that yet and that device is quite a few years old now...
Why would you want to? I see no true advantage by doing this.

If Samsung makes Ativ tablet with arm processor and windows 8 RT somebody can prefer it to android!
I love Android but i'd like to try Windows 8 RT, i repeat RT, on my GNote 10.1.
I don't think to be the only one
Me, I would also like to test it.
And to be honest: things like this is why we are here,or am I wrong?

I'm on xda for mods and tests
Will never be possible.
RT needs a min resolution of 1366×768

Can this thread open new ways? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960034
Any discussion on this is futile. Microsoft has already made it clear that it will only make Win 8 RT available to OEM's.

Thanks for sharing man, love to hear it -__-
Nah but to the point: it really depends on the style you like, imo, windows 8 is a bit smoother, and the boottime is way better, but not a lot op people are good enough with computers to use windows8, so it isn't recommended for grandpa's and such.

Win7 vs. Win8 is like trying to compare a Volkswagen to a Yugo
^^^^^^^^^^^^
You can run the same programs as you can on windows 7. (i'm running the release preview, and i can run everything, even games.)
windows 8 is windows 7 but with more features.
How does it work when flashing roms on galaxy s3, galaxy nexus, nexus 4...also running toolkits, and Odin....i flash alot of roms, root amd repair software issues on samsungs using Odin...will this be an issue on win8....windows was flawless for everything....just don't want to get windows and then have issues with drivers and etc...
Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
I cant tell you how it would be for flashing etc.
but i can tell you that windows 8 is a blast ( the positive way )
- As soon as you get to know it you really love it, there is a couple of things that annoys me about it, but there is also things in windows 7 and linux mint i dislike, it cant be perfect..
if you ask me, go for it.. and if you get sick of windows 8 look alike style you can " disable " it with a program called " start 8 "
OR you can do as i do, combine the two.. im running the windows 7 look, but i still have the metro apps, that i can run if i like to do that ..
So from the usage point, yes.. windows 8 is waaay better and so much smoother, faster and allaround just better..
People who dislike it has used it for 10 minutes, have read alot of hate on it and joined the crowd..
Hope it helped
Thanks so much for your feedback....good stuff

Windows 8 is very clean and quick..
I have an alienware laptop.. and its very snappy..
Windows 8
I have been using windows 8 since last 2 months. I feel that user interface is clean. But there are some issues which i defiantly taken care of in for there updates . If your are a naive user than you might find windows 8 very irritating. BTW there is lot to explore in Win 8 ! :fingers-crossed:
Another thing to consider is that if you get a windows 8 machine and later decide you don't like it you are legally entitled to downgrade to windows 7. Check out the link on Microsoft's site: http://www.microsoft.com/oem/en/licensing/sblicensing/pages/downgrade_rights.aspx
Not sure how easy this will be to do, but it's something to consider.
have you thought about having two operating systems?i think you should consider this option.win 8 is faster than 7.but you may find problems with drivers.good luck.
windows is far more better than windows 7 provided u have sufficient RAM coz win 8 just sucks up the RAM as far as i know
Most of the apps are not working for windows 8 but it is faster compared to windows 7. if u want to run the apps which are useful for android. some might not be into market which runs on windows 8.
From my own experience windows 8 boots very very fast (tested with normal HDD) Thats a great advantage! Tho I really dislike the metro interface, thats why I went back to windows 7.
Every second Windows system was the best in my opinion..
like first Windows xp then windows 7..
the others in between was bad..
So its just my opinion but i guess windows 8 is just good for tablets..
Windows 7 is perfect so far.. It aint too complicated.
Hi everyone , i read in miui web site that windows 10 will available for mi4 , but any news for porting the rom ?
Here find the video for testing in the mi4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTTTFV38G_Q
Nope. Xiaomi is partnering with Microsoft, because of that, Mi phones (mostly newer generations one such as the Mi4) will be getting the Windows 10 builds.
But no, Nexus won't get it (maybe, we don't know this yet). Because Windows is closed source (unlinke Ubuntu Touch or Firefox OS) and it doesn't rely on any Android's component to do stuff.
I think it would be a hardware based windows 10 for mi phone.
So no nexus.
I don't discard W10 on Nexus. MS is just testing waters on a ROM for Android phones. Part of their new strategy is to make windows available in as much devices as possible. If it goes well with the Mi4, that is, a relevant percentage of Mi4 users install it, they might want to replicate with other phones and N5 is a good candidate. W10 Mobile is just beta and it might take a while.
Recently we heard that Windows 10 is going to roll out for MI4. But when we will receive.....?

They are still testing windows 10 mobile, as they had to start another build because the last stable (10240 I believe) had a serious bug in it.

Windows mobile on the MI4? I'll give it a try for sure!
Any link for download

I bought a Mi4 from Honorbuy.com, $250 delivered to the US (16GB, 2GB RAM). I put Win 10 on it, following these directions
http://en.miui.com/thread-189574-1-1.html
It mostly works great (Quickplay Pro is not finding music folders is the only dysfunction) and I'm pretty happy with it. My one complaint is that the speaker volume is really quiet, which is only a problem for the alarm. Even a mp3 recorded extra loud is still too quiet to reliably wake me. So first, is the Mi4 quiet to begin with? Second, is there a mechanism to make the alarm louder on Win 10, e.g. a registry hack (although I'm not seeing a way to change the registry in Win 10 mobile, just Win 8).
Thanks!
