Did you really ask if this kind of thing is normal? You sent it off to be fixed, wait for the replacement.

Haha no that's not normal. If it was, no one would buy this phone ever.

I got my Nexus 5 delivered(upgraded from a Ace s5830i!, hella difference) yesterday
I've got a red pixel in the middle of the screen that won't change.
It's barely a problem because of the fact it's really small on such high PPI.
It's just i don't like it it is there. This one is a rev_11.
The only thing i ever did was unlock the bootloader, put TWRP on it and install the SuperSU binary.
Anyone that can help me on this christmas day?
The only thing i can do is send it back to my subscription provider and get a rev_12 , but it will take several weeks to get it shipped back. So it will only be my last solution.
FYI, i'm willing to do anything i can without having to ship it back, atleast if it's reasonably safe to do so.(Incl. Factory resets, different roms, safe physical methods etc.. etc..)
Greetings,
BrianJ64
P.S. Merry christmas everybody!
You can try one of the many pixel fixer apps and let that run for a couple hours. If that doesn't fix it, send it back.
I had a green stuck pixel and had to RMA that one. Had the new phone within 3 days.

For some reason, the problem vanished after flashing stock using the factory image???
Maybe it got unstuck in download mode or boot loader mode

Hello,
My Xperia Z broke and I sold it. Last week I bought a Nexus 5 (white) and yesterday the touchscreen suddenly stopped working while browsing twitter. I rebooted and the touchscreen worked for 1 sec and then it stopped working again. It keeps working for 1 - 5 sec and then stops.
Is there a way I can fix this? The phone is rooted because I wanted to copy WhatsApp over from another phone because I lost my sim bound to whatsapp.
I can go to the shop I bought it and get it fixed under warranty because I did not do anything weird with the phone nor dropped it. but first I want to see if it can be fixed from home or if it is a software problem because the shop is a hour drive and I don't want to do without my phone for another 2 weeks.
Thanks in advance!
This should have been posted in q&a, not general. But to answer your question, you're going to have to warranty it.
If you want to be sure it's hardware, reflash the factory image and see if anything changes. But it's most likely hardware at this point.

I hope we are not going to get this part functioning screen problem with the N5. I bought a Nexus 5 last week only because part of my N4's screen stopped responding to touch after having it for only 14 months from new.

If it's happened to two of your devices, maybe it's something you're doing to it.
Edit: disregard, I mistook you for OP.

My pixel had decided it's going to randomly freeze and reboot itself
It does it a few times a day and doesn't seem to matter what apps are running
Is there anyway of logging the reboots without root to find the cause?

Same thing happening to me here too.
What I would do is start from scratch, install factory image, don't install any apps, use for a day to test, then install your apps one by one to find the culprit.
If still rebooting without any apps installed, it might be time for a rma

I used that Google support and came down to putting the phone I to safe mode for 24 hours to see but some days it does it a few times and other days it's fine

Has there been any resolution to this? My Pixel has been randomly rebooting, too. Already tried troubleshooting with Google tech support, tried Safe Mode (did it there, too), and factory reset and cache wipe.
It still happens. And when I say random, I mean random. Sometimes it reboots overnight, sometimes in my pocket, sometimes as I'm using the phone (it'll freeze in some cases too before it reboots). There's no obvious indication of what's causing it.
Has there been any light shed on this problem? Any clue as to whether it's software or hardware related?
Some days it doesn't, others it'll do it 5times. I've not had any luck fixing it which is annoying because it awesome except for that
Google aren't very helpful either, they refused to help because I got my phone through carphonewarehouse lol

Yeah, there really is no rhyme or reason to the way it reboots, making it even harder to diagnose.
Rebooted again while it was just sitting on my table. No rhyme or reason to this bug.
I've had my 5" Pixel since launch. Google Store device, 32GB, never unlocked the boot loader.
I had a few random reboots, but never actually saw it happen. I'd go to use my phone and see the pattern unlock screen you get on first use after restart.
I have not had it occur since the January OTA.

Same here. Sometimes I'll go to my phone wanting to use it, try my finger to unlock, and it'll prompt me to input my pattern because it's required after a reboot. Clearly, rebooting by itself.
It's frustrating because there's no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it'll happen multiple times a day, sometimes it won't happen for a couple of days.
At first, I thought the Jan update fixed it too because it didn't occur for a while after the update, but then it reared its ugly head again. I've already tested it in Safe Mode, did a factory reset, and the rebooting still persisted.
If you simply research this on the web, many others are having this issue. And it's even been reported a few times by Android sites/blogs. Google needs to get on top of this. At the very least, they should confirm it's a software issue and not a hardware issue.

Happens at random but only when I'm using Chrome or when my Pixel has been sitting on my nightstand charging.
I've had the phone since launch with no issues. My random reboots just started yesterday and it's happened 5 times in the past 12 hours. Glad I'm not the only one with the problem.

im thinking this is a hardware issue, im pretty annoyed if it is! i get it like 6 times a day or nothing for a while, makes no difference what im doing or apps being used
Going to try and get a replacement this is a joke, fully wiped and flashed and still does it

Mine hasn't really been "rebooting"... It's actually just been suddenly shutting completely off for no reason. It will be fine for a few days, then the next fee days it will simply abruptly shut off for no reason... Battery levels don't seem to make a difference.. Weird.

For me it seems that the reason lies in Bluetooth or just in the BT stack. If I deactivate bluetooth it works fine through the day. But I need bluetooth so I started BT again and the Pixel XL 128GB crashes sometimes 10 Times a day, but as I checked BT was automaticly deactivated after these first reboots. I seemed. The Pixel stopped rebooting as I activated BT and deactivated it myself.
And now? How long do we have to wait. I don´t think it´s a hardware issue.
So, I have this issue but it became (very) apparent only after the OTA Oreo. First two weeks were fine (and subsequently first two weeks after a factory reset I've done), but then it slowly starts doing this after those 2 weeks. Freezes then reboots. At first it's 1-2 a day, now it's like 12-20. Ridiculous. There's a buganiser thread for this issue and Google is aware of it. Most of the bug reports have this in them:
Code:
Sense Key : Hardware Error [current]
which Google rep says is a hardware issue. I also have an access to a Google's internal buganiser thread on this issue (i'm a vendor) and they refer to this being a Toshiba's memory issue. Not sure though why this started happening only after the Oreo update. Also people who flash Nougat report no issues as well. Another funny thing is that there's at least two users with Pixel (XL) 2 who suffer from it. Anyway, I'll be giving it back to my carrier over the weekend (glad we have 2 year warrant here in UK) even though I'm pretty sure I'll get a refurb with a similar problem after two wasted weeks of wait.
Flash nougat rom and see does this problem occur or not? If not then us nougat for a while then again update to oreo
Hello,
I have an HTC U11, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and for unknown reason it displays this message: Android System.UI has stoppedn working. I tried factory restet, I cleared cache partition, I installed a new kernel (cleanslate). It comes back to normal after I reboot the device (I cannot do anything on it because nothing will work)
Hello, I'm experiencing the same error. I thought it's from some app that I installed but it's not. It does crash about at least once a day. The screen just blinks on and off in the lock screen if I try to turn it on.
The only solution is to soft reset it.

Maybe you have damaged phones? I know that when my phone fell on the top left edge and screen cracked, also SIM was affected. It works but only without PIN code. If I have pin code I get system UI errors, cannot use the device at all.

Same issue here, occurs one in a week, since I realize hard reset, not happen again.
Simply can't unlocked the phone, lock screen blinks, and the only solution is soft reset, I hope this not happen again.
Hi,
I have the same issue - it's been happening once a week for a few months now - the screen is blinking and the only way to "fix" it (temporarily) is to [soft] reset the phone. The error I get (when I can see it) is what the OP mentioned.
I too thought that it might be one of my apps but it's been happening even after I disabled a few apps.
I haven't ever dropped my phone...
Could it be a hardware issue (my phone is still under warranty with my company)?
Has anybody tried a hard reset?
Cheers

I try a hard reset two weeks ago, not happen again, for now.
Been using it for about 3 weeks now after I bought it on FB marketplace in NTX listed as Google pixel 6 pro and this morning 10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254 it started acting weird ending in it going to a bootloader screen after saying it was factory resetting and wiping all my data. Didn't have one issue with it before this morning.

I'm sorry for you but what Google has done makes sense as the Pixel 7 or 7Pro are not yet released.
All the prototype models that have been in people's possession have all been blocked and remotely reset by Google.
You are not alone in this.
It's even more unpleasant when you buy it.
Then maybe you should have asked before. Indeed, someone in your case posted pictures of the Pixel 7 on social networks and it was blocked and reset shortly afterwards.

try installing A13 GSI, idk if Google blocks the system only or the entire phone
