Watch Faces - Please Wait message - nothing ever happens - Samsung Gear S3

I'm using a Gear S3 with an LG G4. I just got my watch last week and haven't really had a chance to play with it. I launched the Samsung Gear app and went to Settings and tapped on Watch Faces. Whenever I do this, I get the attached message and nothing else ever happens. If I come back later and try again, I get the same result.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Have you rebooted your phone and watch?

affirmative

Some bytes are crossed somewhere and it may take more drastic action to resolve.
If I was having this issue, the next things I'd look into would be removing and then re-associating your watch w/your phone/Gear app, and/or a factory reset of your watch.

Well... I rebooted again and it appears to be working right now. I don't know why I didn't practice the mantra of techies everywhere... When in doubt, reboot!

RESOLVED (for now) a reboot of both the phone and watch appears to have resolved the issue.

Can't add watch faces. "Unable to continue without your Gear connected.." error
I'm trying to add watch faces from the Gear app but it keeps coming up with the error message above even though the watch is connected to the phone and I'm getting all emails, messages etc!
The ONLY time it works is if I reset the watch and even then, it will only allow me to add watch faces for a couple of days and then, it's back to the usual error message.
Has anyone else had this issue?
BTW, the phone is a S6 Edge on 5.1.1

Yes. Happend to me too several times. Usually just restarting the watch helps...
Happend to me too. Sometimes just turn off and turn on bluetooth resolve the connexion issue, or a reboot of the gear. But this ont take more time.
How do you re-boot the Gear? I thought the only option was to reset it - wipe and install everything and that's what Ive been doing! Tried to turn Bluetooth off and on but seems to make no difference.

Just long press home button (the lower button of the two) and touch "Power off" -> Wait a little -> long press home button to power back on...

Watch faces not showing up after latest update

I installed the latest update last night (which I had a very difficult time doing), and I kept getting the error "unable to load data, tap to retry" afterwards. I ended up having to uninstall and reinstall gear manager. Now many of my watch faces won't show up on my watch any more. They show in gear manager, or when I long press on my watch, but when I select them, they only show as a black screen on my watch. Has this happened to anyone else?
Any idea how to fix this?

I excitedly updated my Gear S2 but was frustrated when the Settings would no longer show up. Plus all other apps and all other watchfaces except the ones preinstalled. I did a hard reset and opted not to restore all my previous settings. Pretty much the same.
Now I have access only to the preinstalled watchfaces including the new Special Edition Watchface. I cannot power off my watch. Instead, I have to long press the Power button to reboot in case I accidentally select an app or watchface that causes it to freeze or go blank. If I swipe down, I can see the new flight mode and use it. So with the Do Not Disturb. But the brightness and volume setting will cause it to go blank.
All preset widgets wont work. But after I delete them all, I can add Heart Rate Measure, Steps, Music Player, Workout. These widgets will work.
If I click the power button to get to the app, all apps and the settings wont work.
I have resigned to waiting for an update that will correct these. My watch is under warranty but I am in Oman and I bought it in Dubai...
I hope I can get a clean original firmware and learn how to flash it to my gear s2...
i have the same problem exact the same as what you said, i just have access to default watch faces also without power off option and some widget won't work anymore. the worse f**king problem is i have lost many watch faces from samsung gear too, witch have downloaded & purchased before.
this is very disappointing update i ever did, NEVER choose samsung ever..

David I solved the problem!
I downgraded my firmware to the original using these steps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s2/general/tutorial-downgrade-gear-s2-sport-t3334123
There is a separate firmware download link if you own a classic.
After I have successfully downgraded... it updated to the latest firmware with flight mode and Special Watch face...
I think my mistake last time I updated was that I rebooted the gear s2 when it has not yet finished installing... since it looked like it hanged.... just leave it even if it is unresponsive. It will reboot on its own after awhile...
Hope you can revive your Gear S2 as well!
Gabriel

Light Reset

I have updated my gear s2 to the latest firmware allowing many of the gear s3 features. So far so good. However the 'light reset' feature has disappeared from my watch. Anyone else noticed this?
This is now the last menupoint "connect to another/new smartphone"

Reboot by pressing the Home button for about 10 seconds
Thanks very much ThinkD. Spot on. I would never have found that. Why they moved it and changed its name, well a mystery to me. Once again thanks.

Blurred Game Apps which normally aren't blurred (didn't test non-game apps)

Just as title. It just started happening earlier today, which I'm not sure what could've caused it. (no falls or anything today in particular)
The blur is the exact same as Goodlock's blur feature when you opened the status bar (if you enabled it). I tried disabling it but some (yes not all of my games) stays blurred.
What I did earlier were reboot, which somehow fixes the blur. But at the same time, a different game app is blurred. More reboots and sometimes theres even less blurred games, and sometimes almost all of them are blurred.
Does it mean hardware failure?

hi, i am having the same problem. all my games are blurred on S6 Edge, but the likes of facebook and twitter are fine. i hope a solution happens fast!!
Hello. All my games are blurred too. It started two days ago. Rebooting doesn't help. Clearing cache doesn't help. I also uninstalled and reinstalled one game to see if that would help and it did not. I downloaded a brand new game and was able to play it just fine and then shut it off and this morning when I turn it on, that game was also blurred. I contacted my phone service provider yesterday as I figured it was something wrong with my phone, and they couldn't figure it out either. I've been Googling for an answer so if somebody has one out there, please, please, give us the answer on how to fix this.
Fixed mine
Hi mate, i cleared all my phone and boosted cache. Then turned it off for around 30mins then turned it back on it worked fine
Thanks
Scott

I am also having this issue in my S6 with some games and apps.
The only way to solve it is to fully reboot the device.
When it is up again I have to open the game inmediatelly.
If I open something else first, and then the game, it becames blur once again.
Fixed blurred games.
I found another thread on this site with a suggestion and it worked. Of course now I can't find that thread but found this original thread. Anyway, here's how I fixed it. Go into settings, application manager, game optimizing service and then click on more, and undo updates. After doing this it was still blurred so then I did a force stop on the game optimizing service and then everything worked again. All my games are clear and functioning normally.

If I could put up 100 Thanks, I would. This was driving me crazy for two days. The annoying thing is I don't have Google set up to auto update ANYTHING, so I thought it was potentially a hardware issue. Must be a Samsung app update... I'll have to freeze the Samsung app service, I think...

You're welcome, but thanks really needs to go to Ekrezem and PiperTim. It was on another thread here at xda-developers. I appreciate when solutions are made in clear terms for those of us who aren't as tech savvy. That's why I made my post step by step clear. I hope it helps a lot of people.
I applied the same solution, but my GOS keeps auto-updating, and auto update is turned off! Is there a way to stop this nonsence? Is there an official forum or something where we can report it??
Blurry games on S6 edge v6.0.1
My question exactly: did all recommended. Cleared cache, cleared that other thing with a reboot (pressing on/off, volume up, home button) managed to play one game with no blurry image but it started all over again...
I have a Samsung s6 edge v6.0.1
All help very much appreciated

Exactly! Since the 28th march this nonsense is on.... anyone have already solved it?
Found a permanent solution
I've found a simple solution, no wipe cache no reflash, no nougat upgrade etc
All you have to do:
1. Update game optimizing service via galaxy apps store (and dont ever clear data or uninstall)
2. Install samsung game tuner via google playstore and set default to maximum quality (don't forget to save your settings) and restart. You can uninstall this after.

Question Gw5 pro notifications question?!

my gw5 pro doesnt get notifications when am not using it for few hours(not waking the screen....etc).
am also having another problem notification dont vibrate on the watch although its set to vibrate and i never changed settings!
Have you restarted the watch since making the changes?
I tried setting developer mode a couple times. Said it was active and never showed the option. Restarted watch and there it was.
Same thing happened after I set up Samsung Pay. Held the watch to pay and was getting an error on the card reader. Did a restart of the watch and it worked.

I noticed the notifications does not come thru after recharging the battery and i have to restart to fix the problem so you are right but its very frustrating to keep restarting a 500$ premium smart watch every time there is a glitch or error.
Oh, that is a problem.
My issues worked flawlessly after the initial restart.
Did you get the latest update for the watch and install it? Did that help?
