PreRequisite :
Debug ON, Bootloader Unlocked, S-OFF, Battery 50%+, HTC sync manager and htc fastboot app installed in computer and Unlocked/Developer RUU.exe downloaded from official htc rom site..
1) open RUU collection thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-a9/general/wip-ruu-htc-one-a9-t3240344
download Europe version nougat HIA_AERO_UHL 2.16.401.3 Firmware zip, rename it to firmware.zip and transfer it to installed folder of fastboot application on C drive of your computer... ( unlocked dev us variant OTA firmware zip link is broken so i used European nougat firmware)
2)cahnge CID to "HTC__034" or "11111111" , change MID to 2PQ910000, Then flash the European Nougat firmware 2.16.401.3 zip via fastboot
command - fastboot oem rebootRUU
- fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
if asked again to flash firmware zip then repeat - fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
after flashing firmware complete , return to bootloader mode by - fastboot reboot bootloader
then enter download mode, do not reboot your device into system.. your device is now European Naugat Firmware only..
3)Now change CID to BS_US001 and MID to 2PQ912000 and ReEnter into download mode..
Run RUU.exe that you downloaded from htc site..
follow instructions and after process done reboot/start phone, phone will take half hour to start so don't be panic and let it take time, you can wait maximum of 1 hour..
this procedure to convert any variant to unlocked developer version is working well however there is one bug for me and that is battery is draining superfast even when there is no app working in background, so i reverted back to CID 11111111 and MID 2PQ910000 and reflashed european firmware and then european ruu.zip.. im happy on Nougat on European Varient.. but if you still want to try Unlocked/dev version then proceed with caution.. i am not responsible if your phone got bricked

I see what you did here with the firmware update. Wouldn't it be simpler to just extract the firmware from the US Unlocked RUU instead of flashing the Europe version (and having to change CID/MID twice)? That would make your guide easier for beginners if they use the correct firmware.
You can extract the the firmware from the RUU using Captain&nkk71 decryption tool and post a link to the file in your guide.

did u flash the latest firmware before flashing ARHD?

What is your CID? The firmware depends on your CID number. If you don't know, go into cmd and type the following. I am assuming you have the SDK configured and installed with the HBOOT drivers. Assuming you are not already in fastboot USB mode. Type the following:
cd C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
then
adb reboot bootloader
then
adb getvar cid
Then get the latest correct firmware from here. Put the PG58IMG.zip on the root of your SD card. If it doesn't work check that it isn't called PG58IMG.zip.zip. If it succeeds and your phone is still in a bootloop, (it happened to me) flash a new ROM or flash the official RUU and then restart the rooting process.
Thanks if I helped
When you flashed ARHD did you use the 6.5.5 that was released today? and if so, sis you choose the faux kernel? This is a known issue if so, check the ARHD thread or just flash the faux kernel manually from its thread.

I tried all 4 of the firmware packages in the firmware thread & none of them got me out of bootloop. How do I flash the official RUU? Do I just run the RUU.exe then boot to phone to Fastboot mode and connect it via USB to the PC?
Also, to get the CID via cmd prompt do I need to be in fastboot on the phone too?

I found your post & this seems to be the relevant info to me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542555
"...You also have to be 100% stock (e.g. NOT rooted). If you are running a custom ROM you HAVE to use the http://www.4shared.com/file/risaQet4...pe_1454012.htm RUU to get back to stock but you HAVE to leave the phone S-OFF. "
I still have the following question:
"How do I flash the official RUU? Do I just run the RUU.exe then boot to phone to Fastboot mode and connect it via USB to the PC?"

Also, it appears my PC is not able to detect the phone when its connected (another issue from me stupidly flashing the wrong firmware?).
Is there a way to flash the stock TMO US Firmware when phone/computer can't connect for adb and fastboot commands?
Will flashing via HBoot (dropping the .zip file in the root folder of the SD card) work?
I get [Error 131] Wrong Customer ID when I try flashing using the RUU.
I know I changed my CID last night to HTC__001 from the default TMOsomething one.
How do I change the CID when the phone isn't recognized by adb & fastboot?
Is there a way to change it over HBoot?
Update (in case any Noob like me ever has this same issue again):
I managed to finally get the PC to "see" the phone by HBOOT installing 4Ext Recovery.
Updated back to stock firmware. Then I fastboot changed the CID back to T-MOB010 and was able to flash (via HBoot) the stock T-Mo firmware 1.50.531.1.
Now I'm back to stock everything.
Lesson: Don't ever flash firmware before verifying it supports your Model & CID!
I've got an HTC One S [s3]. CID is HTC__622 Asia HK
I have unlocked bootloader, TWRP recovery and superSU loaded as well as Rom Manger
Tonight there is an OTA update available. So I want to use it. I downloaded it and
ran command: fastboot oem lock
and tried to run the update. It just keeps booting into my fastboot menu.
I heard that I need to install stock recovery tfor this to work but I don't know where I can find it.
I do have a reovery_signed.img file that I saved from somewhere that is 5,957 kb. Not sure if I flash that if it would give me stock recovery.
Can someone give me a direction to go. I have spent last 12 hours just reading stuff and still don't know what to do.

The problem is I didn't take a backup before I unlocked my bootloader and flashed twrp recovery so I don't have a stock recovery to go back to.
The RUU for HTC__044 has a different CID and won't work on my device unless I can extract just the stock recovery from the RUU without having to install it. Is that possible?

i also have htc__622 CID and i didn't make backup before fiddling with the innards.
What you have to do is
1. Flash stock recovery
2. Lock your bootloader
3. Enter fastboot and run the RUU for your phone
Your phone will then be just as it was when you bought it and then you can run the OTA. Make sure you find the right RUU for your phone. I have been searchiing for one for days and couldnt find it. Hope this helped

I have the same problem, so I have few questions....
Where can I find stock recovery for HTC One S c2?
How to lock bootloader?
THANK YOU!
I have a question.
I already flash 4.1.1 via OTA and use some bloody init.d script for R/W system, that doesnt work and gives me reboot after I enter into supersu app.
My question is... how can i flash 4.1.1 again (i wanna clean system, just for better feeling.) If Im using TWRP recovery? Because, ota file doesnt contain stock recovery as RUU does and I didnt find any ruu for 4.1.1 CID_032 | villec2.
sorry, for my bad english.

Maybe a stock recovery of JB would be enough.
Hello guys,
Try this:
Step 1: relock the bootloader (start your phone in fastboot, open cmd, got to folder where are fastboot files, type "fastboot oem lock" )
Step 2: find your desired stock jb or ics online. http://filesdownload.net/showthread.php?70-HTC-One-S-(-RUU_VILLE-)-(-RUU_VILLEC2-)
Step 3: connect your phone to the pc in fastboot (make sure you have the htc drivers installed).
Step 4: run the RUU or stock file as an exe. An installation guide will follow, just follow it through.
Step 5: Now you are in stock ROM
It should work after this!
On my HTC One S [S3] , CID HTC_032 works
splanet.info has something interesting
At least ota is there for htc__622

After I locked my bootloader and tried running the OTA update I tried a few things that didn't work.
But what did work for me was when I unlocked bootloader again
And used Hasoon's Toolkit for One S
and reflashed the recovery file. I used the recovery_signed.img file (5,957 kb) that I had saved from when I was rooting it the first time and renamed it to a one word name per Hasoon's instructions, then flashed it.
Then I relocked bootloader and did a factory reset and ran the OTA update and it worked.
I was lucky that I had that recovery file saved. Still not sure where I got it from. But one thing for sure is that it was hard to find a RUU file for my CID. Hasoon's toolkit does have links to a website with a list of RUUs on it but mine wasn't on the list.
If you want me to email you my signed_recovery.img file send me a pm with your email address and I'll send it.

I have attached the stock recovery just use fastboot to flash it
Unlocking Bootloader
What you need:
PC
Phone
Installed HTC sync (phone drivers)
Unlocking "tool" (batch file and fastboot / adb files)
With unlocked bootloader you will be able to flash custom recovery needed for flashing ROM, rooting etc.
Guide:
Download unlock.rar from attachment
Extract contest of rar to your desktop
Restart your phone
When powering up, press and hold “Volume Down” to enter Bootloader
With volume up / down select “Fastboot” and select it with power button
You should see “Fastboot USB” on your phone screen
Run “Unlock bootloader.bat” from your desktop
Press “t” and confirm with enter to get token
Go to HTC Dev registration and register
Go to HTC Dev unlock bootloader
Select “all other supported models” on right
Skip all steps till step 9
Paste your token like shown in step 9
After some time you will receive E-Mail with Unlock_code.bin in attachment
Save Unlock_code.bin to your desktop
In “Unlock bootloader.bat ” press “u” and confirm with enter
On your phone you should see unlock menu, move with Volume Up and select with Power
That’s it, your phone bootloader should now be unlocked and ready to flash custom recovery.
Flashing Recovery
After you are done with unlocking bootloader you can flash custom recovery.
Recommended recovery for HTC One S Ville C2 is TWRP, because it is most stable one that works with device.
You can use Superboot to root your phone and than install Goomanager from play store and flash TWRP from it
or you can try this:
download latest TWRP recovery from HERE (one with villec2 in name is the one you need)
download attached recovery flashing utility and extract content to your desktop
rename recovery image to twrp.img and place it on desktop (or location where you extracted flashing utility)
reboot your phone into fastboot (restart it and while starting press and hold volume down, when in bootloader press power to enter fastboot mode)
run flash-recovery.bat
press f and confirm with enter
your recovery should now be flashed and you can enter it by selecting recovery from your bootloader screen (volume up / down to navigate, power to select)
Flashing custom ROM
After you have unlocked bootloader / installed custom recovery you can flash custom ROM
After you have found ROM that you would like to flash and saved it on your phone this are the steps you need to take:
reboot into recovery
wipe data (factory reset) and cache
go back chose "install"
locate ROM you have downloaded to your phone
after rom has been installed reboot into fastboot
now you need to flash boot.img
Boot.img is usually included inside ROM .zip file, but since ONE S has S-ON it cannot be flashed from recovery but you need to flash it from fastboot.
Click to collapse
download fastboot files from attachment and extract them to c:/fastboot
Start cmd (win+r -> cmd)
in cmd:
cd\
cd fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
reboot phone
HBOOT versions and ROM compatibility
Not all ROMs are compatible with all HBOOT versions.
Minimum required HBOOT version for flashing SENSE based, android 4.04 or 4.1.1 (JellyBean) ROM is 2.11 (you will get it with official 4.0.4 OTA update).
You can run older versions of Sense based ROMs (4.0.3) on newer hboot versions.
This does not comply to AOSP ROMs
Thank you, great how-to.
As i made my phone ready for New Roms i stucked at TWRP. If anyone else has problems there. Try this after unlocking bootloader

4.0.4 is needed for JB based custom ROMs to work

its best to use ruu, but ensure make a full backup of data through twrp because ruu will erase all user data, secondly for ruu you will need to relock your bootloader. After your phone is updated, unlock your bootloader again.
I haven't done anything to my phone yet. Its stock as it can be So no twrp, unlocked bootloader or so.
When you mention backing up data, you mean rom and such?So if (hope it won't) anything goes wrong with ruu, I can restore phone to a present state? I have all I need synced and copied to my pc that would be called "user data".

ok so go with ruu and just be sure that the CID of ur device is supported with RUU that u r going to flash and if there will be some error it will give prior to flash so most probably nothing should go wrong

Why do you think that ?
Hi! First of all I would like to thank everyone that helped me to get that update via OTA successfully. Now I'm running debranded Android 4.2.2 Sense 5 and I would like to share with you this clear TWRP Backup of freshly installed ROM. All I did to this I made a factory reset before making a backup. I made a backup with TWRP 2.6.3.0 (openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-k2_ul.img). The backed up partitions are: Boot, Data and System.

Instructions to the firmware.zip

Things I've done to flash firmware (I have S-off):
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot reboot
Now everything should be in working order (network, speaker)
afterwards dont forget to flash back twrp recovery:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot

You can also flash the firmware.zip by changing it name to PL80IMG.zip and placing it on your sd card. Then avoiding the adb and fastboot this time just reboot to bootloader (just reboot the device by pressing power and selecting Restart and just after screen turns off hold the VOL- button until the bootloader appears), then it would search for the file you placed on sd card. When it'll find it it will ask you for flash - confirm by pressing VOL+, then after it completes - POWER to reboot.
If you want, i can put it on my dev-host or androidfilehost account.

You can put the link into your first post.
I'll come back, when upload to androidfilehost is finished.
Would be nice if you attached the firmware files too, because network doesnt work with old radio/baseband
Temporary link to firmware: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/905514/firmware.zip
Please reupload it somewhere else.

Missing language
Yesterday I tried to install this backup. The update process was without any problems but I had the noisy voice. So I went back to Saturn III.
I have seen there is a firmware.zip. Can I use TWRP to install? Or how must this be done???
Another problem was/ is that I couldn't select the right language: I have found "Deutsch (Belgien)" etc but there was no "Deutsch (Deutschland)".
@ old.splatterhand
I believe you have tried this ROM. Which one did you used?
Yes, i tried it. When i remember right, i used Deutschland (United Kingdom).
There popped up various variants to flash the firmware files, but as i didn't i can't give any guide or helping hand at this point.
I will wait, 'til the OTA for my phone is coming, so i will be sure, that i have the correct file (with correct language) for flashing.

Ups, sorry!
I made a restore with your file and flashed the given firmware with bootloader. It did Not fix my sound problem. Do I need to be s-off to make it work?
-My radio is still 1.15.40a...
-K2ul, s-on, unlocked, rooted
-I installed the 32mb firmware.zip from the first post by changing the name and following instructions
Sent from my HTC One SV using xda app-developers app
If somebody try use this backup with CID not listed here? I have some problem with this. MD5 is correct but twrp shows loading failure. I have stock odexed 4.1.2 with s-off. My Cid is T-Mobile Poland.

Radio haven't changed...? Weird. Maybe this is because of S-ON and you have different CID than listed in android-info.txt, which prevents the flash. I was doing it being S-OFF. I have no idea.

Loading failure...? Interesting. Did you tried restoring it with TWRP that I have? ( http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/k2_ul/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-k2_ul.img ) -- you don't have to flash it, if you don't want to - just place it where you have fastboot on your PC and do fastboot boot [file name here]
Ok. I change recovery and restore work's but I can't load firmware it shows bad Cid in bootloader. I try both via fastboot and PL80... file. So I must change Cid becouse without this I have noise problem while calling. Is it correct route ?

To be honest... @old.splatterhand said somewhere that it's not a firmware.zip related bug, but it's somewhere inside system files. So propably, when you'll restore from my backup, you should have everything working. Propably. I'm not sure about it, because I haven't tested it myself. And I'm S-OFF so it makes another difference.
Bluetooth was not firmware, noisy problem i think it is.
@marceli-szpak
Yes, change your cid otherwise it will fail.

To be honest - Before ICS downgrade and making updates via OTA on different CID, I've updated bootloader with firmware.zip (the radio version has changed and stuff) and then flashed the odexed 4.2.2 ROM via TWRP and the noisy calls were still there.
I want to do the OTA update for hong kong version E8 but i was rooted

If S-ON need to Relocked bootloader. on fastboot mode with command "fastboot oem lock"
Download RUU Hongkong E8 for kitkat from here : RUU Kitkat HK

go to bootloader and phone will ask to update RUU.zip
Follow instruction on your phone
After flashing completed you can go to setting, about and check update.
Download Lollipop OTA.
Update lollipop OTA.
Revert back all your file,setting,etc
