I love Straight Talk but, i keep encountering the problem. Every time i purchase one of their phones, i NEVER am able to find a Rooting method that works. I unfortunately broke my phone this evening, so tomorrow i'll most likely be purchasing a new Straight Talk phone. Does anyone know which Straight Talk phones can be easily rooted?
I appreciate the assistance!
Hi !
This Straight Talk it is a network provider right ? They apparently have a wide variety of devices so we can`t know which ones
If you want to root a device you must first know what device is that .
You can contact the provider for more assistance , the carrier might be unlockable and also rooting impossible without their accept
Good luck !

I have searched thru these forums trying an many combo's as I could think of and couldn't find it so hopefully this isnt a repeat set of questions.
-In the Bourne Supremacy, Jason Bourne makes a copy of somebody's sim card which allowed his phone to be on the same call as that person at the same time. All the references I can find to sim cloning state that the second phone must be switched off (or it causes some kind of problem?). So is there any such way to do that with GSM? The only reason I ask is because I work for a CDMA service provider, at sometimes during an ESN swap/upgrade the system will not release the old ESN. The result seems to be that both phones ring at the same time (Though only one can answer). Basically can it be done or is it movie magic?
-During my searches I saw many results for IMEI cloning. Im not sure if I understand why you would want to do this. Some ppl wanted to trick a service provider into giving them service, and I guess some wanted to use a phone that had been banned on a network(?). But really other than using a stolen or banned phone, whats the reason for the popularity of this issue?
-Also I unlock every phone I get, and it looks like there are many US AT&T users here that use or need unlock software. AT&T's general policy nowadays is that they will supply you with the codes for no charge. Just call in and say you bought the phone and will not be using their service. Basically no question asked. Tmobile will give you the code after 90 days with active service, and might give you the code if you arent planning on using their service. So is there another reason for unlocking the phones thru software as opposed to just getting the code? (Is it better, does it do more for you?)
And not a question but a huge, THANK YOU SO MUCH to all of you guys for doing what you do. VP3G's 8525 ROM is awesome (^_^)y

in regards to the sim, NO
If anyone has a good relationship with anyone in management at at&t ... warranty dept ideally..... can you please pm me .... i need help.....
long story but in a nut shell i had a warranty claim involving charging port on my phone and it got misdelivered by post office .... second phone came and i was late returning it because it was lost in the return envelope somewhere... well they charged my account for $2000 dollars!!!
A representative of the warranty dept took over the case and we were doing great.... i assured her the phone had been recovered and was in
the mail. She took the situation by the horns and went to management and smoothed everything out.... until yesterday that is.... first- she told me to do nothing i.e. pay anything on my bill, until she got back in touch with me .... she cautioned this could take several weeks but that the charges applied to my account were serious and needed to be resolved before anything else transpires on the account... well yesterday tried to log onto
my at&t and check status and was still locked out so I placed a call to inquire..... get this .... its weird ... and i see why they would feel this way....
but while i'm on the phone i get a call from a young kid with latino or spanish accent indicating that he was terribly sorry but about two months ago
he received a package for me in the mail and it was a phone.... I was like theres the missing phone right.... well i told him i was on the way and
about ninety miles later and couple hours of trying to decipher his location I found him and recovered the device.... refurbished white one xl with 1.85 1.09 hboot... so i called back to try and locate my lady helping me and got customer service so i told them what had just transpired and i needed to be transferred to that dept... well she would only say that i needed to return the phone to closest location immediately...so i hung up...
got distracted as usual trying to run two businesses and buy another.... just four kids four dogs and a cat on a rainy day and it didnt happen...but i felt i needed to communicate with warranty dept... so anyway i woke up yesterday and my phone is cut off ....now this is not good for me trying to deal with banks for funding on a new business venture and kids and all. So infuriated i proceed to the local store with there phone and after a two hour ordeal with local manager and his support system we come up with i need to return the phone and sometime on or around the 1-17-13 everything will clear out and i can restore my service... well i blew up and told them to just close my accounts.. that was not acceptable...
Anyway the deal is although there way too expensive (my bill is never less than $250 , there still in my experience hands down the best...at least in this area.... and until now every issue i have they more than handle the situation... But i dont appreciate being treated like a criminal stealing a phone when i got up and went out of my way to recover there device. I had no responsibility to this device and had been cleared a month ago by the warranty dept who had confirmed by tracing the device that i never received it..... I also really dont appreciate my phone being turned off on a moments notice when i have done nothing but what i was instructed to do by there management.....
so im at a huge loss today on what to do ....
1- flash both devices to Straight Talk...?
2- send device back? and wait a week to be exhonerated of these charges and restored?
3- call attorney general and file complaint? hire lawyer with money i dont have?
4- do i have rights ? no rights?
I'm really getting sick of big corporations just steam rolling over the little guy.....ive already had a debacle earlier this year with sprint/google nexus that has all but put me out of business... and mother google is becoming the worst ally of a small biz owner ive ever seen ....between adwords and adsense....and there phone i'm in tight spot.....
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated........

well first off team one X is a GSM device therefore it cannot be flashed however you can obtain an unlock code so you can use a straight talk sim card. Or you could even buy an AT&T compatible SIM from straight talk which does not require an unlock code. Secondly I would talk to supervisor or a store Manager and see if they can help you and your situation.
But whatever you choose best of luck to you on a second note if you get a straight talk sim you know you may get the error mm 6 device not authorized in which case means AT&T has your device on the lost or stolen blacklist

thanks
yea well im sending back one of the devices.... so hopefully they wont do that to the other one... im unlocked and rooted on one and about to unlock and root the other one and going to nearest straight talk... i cant go without a phone .... F atat

if you want to go to straight talk check out their website for GSM BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) @ straighttalksim.com and make sure you choose the AT&T Compatible SIM, You get the same coverage because it uses att towers, for a fraction of the price, however i dont know if they offer LTE yet or not so you may want to do some research on different APN Configurations and what not.
A Word about Unlocked just remember that the bootloader unlock and a Network Unlock are 2 different things, where you need the bootloader unlock to be able to use custom roms, firmware, and radios. You will need a network unlock to be able to use the device on another network that does not operate on att towers, some examples are T-Mobile, SIMple Mobile, Vodaphone, etc, etc
Here's my problem:
I recently brought a SAMSUNG Galaxy S5 Sport SM-G860P by Sprint from eBay. The problem is when I asked the previous owner to help me with the unlocking,
the previous owner told me that he/she is unable to contact Sprint due to poor network reception in his/her area.
And so I thought I can simply unlock the phone by calling Sprint (the way I use to call Verizon when I purchased phones from eBay), but no.
Sprint required more information compared to Verizon when comes to unlocking the phone for you.
I told Sprint that I was unable to provide the account number, security PIN, etc. of the phone due to I brought the phone from eBay
& moreover is that I'm residing in Singapore (outside of the USA), but Sprint apologies that they're unable to further proceed with the unlocking service
due to lack of information.
Here's my request:
Would truly appreciate anyone could help me with my problem & willing to donate a small sum of funds via PayPal to whoever managed to unlock my phone.
My phone's information:
Brand & Model: SAMSUNG Galaxy S5 Sport SM-G860P
Carrier: Sprint, U.S.A
Phone Number: 321-987-2207 (previous owner Sprint's mobile number)
Phone's IMEI : 990004697012726
Phone's MEID : 99000469701272 (HEX), 256691517707344754 (DEC)
Phone's OS : Android 5.0 (lollipop)
Hey!
That is pretty lame that you can't unlock your phone.....I've been talking to my bro as he moved to Australia and had to get his phone unlocked. he said he just took it to town and got someone froma phone shop to do it, it did cost him about $200 for this though! But he did say that he was recommended a website that might be able to help. I've not used it before, but I've noticed a few other people have

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the website shared by you doesn't my phone (G860P)
and also turns out that the previous owner didn't finish clearing the outstanding payment
for this phone's account, therefore I'm unable to get the unlock code from Sprint's technical specialist.

No problem, sorry I couldn't help further.
I would suggest that you take it to a local shop to get it unlocked? They won't need to worry about the previous customer. :fingers-crossed: It looks like the person that sold it to you probably didn't want to pay the rest of their bill. (or not, just my personal opinion) Anyway I really hope you'll be able to sort this out soon, it's not nice to hear people getting messed around.

Actually I can understand how the previous owner feel about Sprint's services. Firstly some sites where people mentioning that Sprint
doesn't have a good coverage in U.S and secondly their have poor customer service. So I wouldn't really wanna put the blame on the
previous owner.
But I'm really glad that at least someone respond to my call for help in technical assistance.

Well as long as you are happy! That's all that matters, I tend to not by second hand phones..........I used to work in a second hand company and the horror stories you'd hear on a daily basis!!
You can easily unlock oyur S5 Sport by using this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...print-samsung-unlocker-unlock-sprint-t2928250
It also worked for me in Germany. Once you hit the Unlock button, reboot your phone. Dont forget to put the phone in GSM Mode in Mobile Network Settings !
enjoy
I purchased a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5 from someone who isn't longer reachable on Craigslist, unfortunately they got one over on me, it's blacklisted however I contacted T-Mobile & it was due to non payment but there still isn't anything they can do nor I can do.
To my question, is there anything I can do to fix the issue so I can use it.
I currently have metro pcs, if I were to get it unlocked would it then work?
Help me please!
Thanks in advance,
Joanna

If you were to use it on a non-tmobile network (att, straight talk on att, etc) yes. Just none that use tmo network.
I don't know why T-Mobile doesn't do it, but when I has Verizon and the same thing happened to me, they have me an option to pay the balance due on the device and use it. I didn't, they wanted way to much money. But the option was there.

Unfortunately the information that was provided to you was to the best of my knowledge incorrect. Due to the fact that T-mobile owns Metro PCS it would not be usable even if you unlocked the device. All of the GSM carriers in the U.S share blacklists now and a device cannot be unlocked and taken over to another carrier. I have had this happen to me previously before. A word of advice for all future craigslist transactions call customer care and ask if there is a remaining EIP or Lease balance on the device you are looking to purchase. The individual you are purchasing the device from will have to verify their account and get the information for you but this is the quickest and easiest way to avoid a scam.
If the phone is good and working without a confirmed balance make sure before you leave you make a phone call or two to register the device to your account to somewhat avoid a loss/theft claim as well. If you want to go a step further in ensuring that the device you just bought stays non-listed as lost or stolen complete the IMEI change during the same conversation as the balance inquiry and make sure the representative notates your account that the phone has been purchased from said individual. If they somehow manage to make a claim after that all they will have to do is look at the notes and they will see that both accounts were verified during the process and 9/10 times unlock the device again.
This has happened to me more times than I would like to admit and those are some of the things i have dont to really cover myself in the case of a scam.
I wish you the best of luck with future purchases and sorry for what happened!!
Hey all,
Hope this is the correct place for this.
First time I’ve ever had to post here because I couldn’t find what I needed. So I have a T-Mobile note 8 which was sim unlocked by Samsung and T-Mobile because I wanted to give it to my father in law because I just went back to the s8. Now they have Verizon and he is upgrading from an S5.
However I can’t get the dang thing to work on Verizon. And they keep telling me the phone won’t work on their network. The lady at Verizon was an absolute moron and told me that the phone company probably lied to me and it wasn’t as simple as popping a SIM card in to activate it. So I’m not sure, like I said I have T-Mobile and that’s all I have ever had to do while changing phones.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I promise that the phone is network and sim unlocked. I just have tried everything I know how. Would the next step be flashing either unlocked firmware or Verizon firmware??
Now I have gotten the old mans hopes up and really hope I can get the sought out needed help from the smart community!
I look forward to your responses.
