[Completed] I have two questions about s7 battery/ghz and rom - XDA Assist

I installed Kernel Audiutor from Google play and I have the GHz set to performance meaning that they will run at the max GHz the entire time (that's 1.5 Ghz on all 4 cores and 2.5 ghz on two cores or 2.2 ghz when on the cores and 1.5 ghz on 4 cores) will this reduce the battery by a lot? I've noticed increases battery usage recently.
Also is there a way to install custom rom without wiping or does it have to be wiped?
Not sure if I've posted in the right forum sorry.

Hello and welcome to XDA-developers!
On Kernel "Adiutor" you have CPU tab that shows which core is running/idle and how it scales. This process is controlled by the "governor", in your case, you have performance.
If you have stock ROM and want to install a custom ROM, you have to wipe data.

How safe is the thunderbolt for Overclocking?
I just installed and tried 2 different roms and there both clocked at 1.2-1.3.
Is that safe? Will it shorten the life of my phone?
Thank You
the processor is rated @ 1.4Ghz..mine runs up to 1.8 so far, tried ziggy's kernel at 2.03 and it froze immediately...I run at 1497/368 and love it.

go down to the part that says World’s First Mobile Single Core at 1.4GHz and the MSM8655 is listed...
I've ran it at 1.8Ghz with no instability, but at a significant power cost. I currently run at ~1.4 with smartass on.

[Q] overclocking with Set CPU

So I rooted my Droid X2 and installed Set CPU. I had problems running set CPU, I couldn't use the drop down menu for setting CPU governors, I also couldn't over clock my CPU, just under clock. Does set CPU work with the nvidia tegra 2 dual core processor in the X2? If not, which app will let me overclock and change CPU governors?
You have to have a custom kernel that allows overclocking.

I'm really new to Android, i've been using iOS for years, and finally jumped the fence. I just rooted my Droid X2, used Titanium Backup Pro to freeze all the bloated apps, and I wanted to get more control of my CPU, as well as overclock a little. I thought I could just install SetCPU and I would be able to Overclock.
So in order to have a custom kernel I would have to install a custom ROM? Such as Cyanogenmod? As I said, I am pretty new to Android, but if I am correct, Cyanogenmod is not available yet for the Droid X2 is it? Are there any other custom ROMs that are available or would work with my X2?
Is it really even all that necessary to overclock what is already a pretty powerful device? Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor is powerful in its stock form isn't it? I would almost think I would gain more by dialing the CPU down at certain times, at least I would gain battery life. I think I am able to set up profiles with SetCPU without having a custom kernel, right?
This is a useless app made by Vietnamese people (I'm Vietnamese). It cannot overclock which many people mistakenly believe, and it only has the task of limiting the CPU speed, the CPU speed is managed by the OS and limiting it is a bad way because no matter what task it does it will be slowed down. When idle the CPU will automatically reduce its voltage and speed by OS. Any process no matter how big or small with high CPU speed it will be processed very fast even with small tasks that are reported not to use up CPU but it will still be faster than a slower CPU. Kernel Auditor is also useless.
it's not you install a custom kernel to manage cpu to overclock by some app but you're going to overclock into kernel using a custom kernel

CPU Frequency

Maybe some other 701 users can verify.
I was under the assumption that the Tegra 3 in the 701 was supposed to be 1.3ghz. At least all the specs say so.
Just got mine yesterday, and SystemTunerPro and SetCpu show it to be 1.4ghz.
Did I miss something in all the marketing specs??? Or did Acer pull a "fast one"?
MD
I've seen conflicting specs on the 701. Some sites say 1.3, some say 1.4. Will be interesting to see what the other 701 owners confirm mate :good:
Tegra 3 can go one point up in hard conditions.
It is still 1.3 ghz
A Tegra 3 running at 1.2 ghz can go up to 1.3
The 1.6 ghz of the Infinity can go up to 1.7 ghz
Etc...

I can understand that in a sense. But was just surprised that the CPU is adjustable up to a set 1.4. Most devices that advertise a certain ghz, usually are set at that until you modify the kernel for OC/UV.
Thought the Infinity 700 3/4G was still slated to use the Qualcom S4 processor?

[Q][A700] CPU frequency max 1,3GHz with Vorbeth's oc kernel?

Hello,
Recently i flashed iconiaN 2.6 on my A700 and I'm really happy of it, works great
I get Vorbeth's oc kernel for iconiaN but I got a little problem with that one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2004441)
The GPU overclock worked for me, I installed tegra overclock which has a thermal guard after my A700 was getting pretty hot just to be sure
Now I noticed that the cpu clock speed in tegra overclock and setCPU doesn't get higher then 1,2 or 1,3 in high performance. Normally it should get around 1,5 with Vorbeth's kernel or not? (Why is 1,5 not an option in setCPU?) Even overclock to 1,4 max and 1,4 min doesn't change anythinh, it's still 1,3GHz.
Did I baddly install the kernel or is it just setCPU that doesn't show the right clockspeed?
Thanks

Moto Z clocked @2.15? Naahh... @1.82? Naahh... it's @1.59!!!

Nobody still have discussed it but... our Moto Z XT1650-03 are *really* underclocked!!!
Let's start from the beginning...
First models on marked were the Verizon's Droid version and their SD820 were clocked @2.15 GHz (at least so declared officially Motorola)...
Then came out the unbranded international version and, even if not so "advertized" by Motorola, it's clock was lowered (officially...), to 1.82 GHz. True?
False.
Even if apps like CPU-Z find the CPU able to work between 300 MHz and 1.82 GHz, the real clock frequencies used by Moto Z are in the range 652 MHz - 1.59 GHz!!!
Using root, both my "reference" apps, Antutu CPU Master Pro & FauxClock show this range (652 - 1,59) as used BUT while the lower clock can be lowered to 300 MHz (best setting for longer battery life in my opinion... ), there is NO option to go over 1.59 GHZ at all!!!
From my experience there should be two more setting 1.82 GHZ and, probably, something around @1.7x GHz, but both are unavailable on stock kernel.
So, if @erfanoabdi has really raised clock to real 2.15 GHz in its modified kernel, the difference in performance should be really noticeable! (I don't know about battery life anyway... ).

Hi, let me explain it
If you take look at snapdragon 820 details and tech specs you will see this processor have 4 core and
2 core of them is clockable up to 2.15
And other 2 core is clockable up to 1.5
And you can also check it by kernel adiutor app on your device.
International version of moto z using same hardware as Verizon edition but kernel of them are different and CPU of it underclocked to 1.3 and 1.8 Hz
There is some restrictions for GPU too and I fixed them on my kernel
So don't worry
Use my turboZ or Verizon (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69459891&postcount=205) kernel for better speed and performance

With turboz kernel 0.7 it never pass 1.59.
Performance are great all most everywhere with elementalX governor. Just some scrolling stuttering. All is fast and no lags.
It's probably because it's reading the speeds of the other 2 cores in the "efficiency" cluster.

So any battery saving experience when you lower the minimum CPU speed to 300MHz?
Is it really running at 300MHz instead of 652MHz?

Yes, it seems so. Yes, real 300 MHz...
Hello. I am interested in purchasing this phone but am confused by the different versions and conflicting specs that I see online for each. So certain versions have the faster 2.15GHz processor vs 1.8GHz but lack Band 12 support (I'm on T-Mobile). While the others have Band 12 but have the slower processor? Is that correct; there is no way to have both?

You can have both by unlocking the bootloader and installing custom roms.

So I could purchase either version and use a custom rom to unlock the missing features, i.e. the hardware is identical? Is one route recommended over the other?

I think only a specific variant like the Verizon one is in a bs state when it comes to software. Other than that one, you should be "on equal grounds".
