Hey man, sorry to hear that you are also facing the same problem Can you share some specifics?
- Have you ever rooted your phone?
- Does your phone shut down within seconds of opening snapchat, regardless of the current battery level?
- Have you experienced totally unstable performance, like sudden battery level drops of 20-30%?
- Have you tried going back to a lower firmware?
- Have you tried removing the SD card, if any?
Let's work together to understand our problem better and hope for a solution

1. Currently not rooted as on fresh firmware 5.1.1
2.no.. battery level dropping is normal...it also never drops after reboot too... But some time from 40 to 14 then battery low warning and shut down.....and some time it automatically reboot...only samsung logo appear again reboot.and i dont usw snapchat.
3.i faced this issue in 6.0 so i lowered it to 5.1.1 but still same..
4.no i havet tried removing sd card...i have 64gb sd card installed.
Over all i think its firmware problem...hence waiting for reply from edge users as some are not facing.

Hey man,
So,
Couple of things about my problem so that we can maybe point out similarities and maybe a common cause.
- I had my phone rooted the first time the problem appeared (android 4.4.4)
- I updated my phone to Lollipop, and that's when i first started getting hints of this problem
- At first i thought, it was a charging issue. but it started happening more and more often.
- now, it pretty much happens everyday and is making my life miserable.
- I started to notice that my battery roughly dies around 37%. From what i've read online, this battery level can be different from person to person.
- From the moment it dies, it restarts itself and goes into a bootloop.
- The moment i plug it back in, it show a battery level of 0%.
- And then, within a few minutes, the battery level goes back to where it initially was when it first died.
- My battery discharge was really turbulent, the whole graph was a mess. I would see sharp drop till I would reach the dreaded 30% area.
- I noticed that right after I enter snapchat, it takes about 3-5 seconds for the reboot to happen. This happens regardless of the battery level as it has once happened to me at about 80% battery.
- The best thing that ever happened to me was when i first took out my SD card. It was 64 GB samsung sd card so i thought it would really mesh together well. I never thought about it being a possible cause. Boy was i wrong, turns out my battery performance almost returned to normal. Got to about 75% after 9 hours. No snapchat but again around the 11 hour mark. I launched chrome and the BAM, it happened again :'(
- I decided to unroot and return to 4.4.4 thinking that a custom kernel was the problem.
- Still No Luck
I have read many places online that it maybe an issue with the battery. But, I refuse to believe that is the issue. i have also tried another battery. although i think it may have been fake. Haven't tried a replacement OEM battery yet.
I would suggest a few things you can do:
- For starters take a screenshot of your current battery usage charts and then once the problem happens, remove the SD card and charge your phone while powered off and report back with another screenshot so that we can compare and see if removing the SD card has had any positive effect.
- Please clarify if you have ever rooted? sorry I was unable to fully understand from your answer.

Do u mean by installing this ur battery last upto 0%. Without reboots / bootloop....
Can u confirm ur model no and firmware version.

Guys after a lot of search found something to save much more battery life, worked for me, give a try:
1,open dialer and dial *#0228#
2,after dialing *#0228# the battery status menu will popup.
3,hit ( quick start ) at bottom of the screen in red color
4,hit ( yes ) and go to settings/battery and disable fast charging for 1 charge only.
5,power off the phone and charge to 100%.
6,turn on the phone and if it shows 97,98,99 plug in charger again and charge to 100%.
7,once it charge to 100% unplug charger and this will create new battery calibration status automatically.now you can enable fast charge again.
8, Next go to play store and download wakelock power app and install it. Open the app and hit (PARTIAL WAKE LOCK) as in screenshot below.
This app will help the cpu to run much more efficient and smoother and also prevent device from over heating and this app does not require root access.
Download wakelock power app link below.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...u.thedarken.wl
THIS METOHOD WORKS ONLY WITH STOCK OFFICIAL FIRMWARE IF YOU ARE RUNNING AOSP ROMS/CYANOGENMOD ROMS/NOTE7 ROMS/S7EDGE ROMS/ OR OTHER PORTED ROMS DIALING *#0228# MAY NOT WORK. (SOME PORTS COULD WORK LIKE Dr. KetanRom, EnhancedRom, RamRom.)
HIT THANKS IF THIS WORKS FOR YOU

Thanks for the help,I appreciate it but unfortunately it's still restarting and getting stuck in a boot loop and this continues until I plug my phone in. This battery is only 8 months old. And this problem didn't start until the last security update. It's getting worse every day. It started happening at 80%, now when my phone gets to 98% it goes into this boot loop. I have the Verizon version. Maybe I'll try a factory reset

Now you're getting somewhere, from the sounds of it.
It almost sounds like the security system in the phone is seeing something it doesn't like on startup and doing a reboot to try and purge it.
I really hate Samsung's built in security.

Random Shutdown..slightly different view on this problem

Update 14/09/2012
Ok, I don't think what I had in mind helped. On 13th, I had multiple shutdown while trying to use cameras and today had multiple shutdown while on the phone to someone.
Think I will try doing something with Firmware next, now have a feel it might be the cause. I have no idea what is wrong, so just going to give with anything really. Will report back soon.
Update: 13/09/2012
After a complete drain the first time, by booting into recovery and bootloader (just want to remind everyone that this is because I can't make my phone boot). Then I left it on charging for the whole night, and I did this through wall charger NOT USB. I think I read it somewhere that they recommended this when calibrating your battery. Then the next day got 1 random shutdown, then I used it until it is completed drain again. Then followed by another full charge using wall charger. Today I have been using it for 6 hours and 21 minutes, haven't had a single problem. I don't know how not doing this would cause the phone to shutdown, but doing what I did seems to be working so far. I can actually rely on it for something now, say important phone calls.
Here was my reply to elvisypi:
Just to answer your question, it would random shutdown (not so much reboot) at anytime, at any battery percentage. I could do be doing anything, using any app, sometimes when I am not even using the phone.
I don't think it's a hardware/battery/ROM/kernel problem, I tried to say that it is a combined problem caused by flashing a phone too many times maybe or too often in a period of time. Also I was just about to update saying that calibrate battery does help. I had no reboot so far and this is only the second full charge and full drain I did.

After reading kushXmaster's post (click here) about how to add an object to help the battery stay in position (or get better connection), I found evidence that my issue was different. Before anyone ask, yes I have tried kushXmaster's idea, and no it did not work for me.
Ok, this is what I found. I had this problem not only with my current phone (htc sensation) but also with my previous phone (htc desire). So now thinking about it, it can't be the hardware problem. Cos the same problem happening to 2 different phones is pretty unlikely, not impossible, but very unlikely. The other thing was that my phones (both) didn't do this at the start when it was new, and it has only been like this a few months later (since I rooted it). For those who already guessed, yes I believe it's the flashing phones which is messing it up. However I don't know the reason or understand what is wrong with the phone. I have tried wipe battery stats and calibration, nothing worked, the only thing I found was when I go back to Sense 4 roms the problem seems better, but it is still there.
The last and most important reason why I am don't think this is a battery or hardware problem, is that my phone boots into bootloader or recovery with no problem (no reboot or shutdown). But when i tell it to boot normally it decides it hates me and turns it self off.
I am currently experiencing this problem, my phone is in recovery and I am waiting for battery to drain completely. Then gonna do calibration from there, hopefully this will work. I will keep you guys updated. Also if anyone has suggestions please leave a comment, and also let me know if anyone else is in the same position, good luck!
If you want to drain your device battery faster or more nicer way put screen timeout to never and like this you can still use your phone normal and drain the battery aswell just a little tip

If I could get it to turn on then I have a lot of ways to drain it quickly, but like I said it won't boot without shutting down before I could do anything. I turn it on, and I see the lock screen then bam it is shut down again.

If you get random reboots, shutdowns, than don't even bother to calibrate the battery. It has nothing to do with the calibration. Tell us more info, how do the reboots happen, how often, what are you doing when it happens, etc. It could be a kernel/ROM problem, charger, battery, hardware. Pls give us more detailed info

Thanks for the tip, but tbh if i know all that I don't really need to be asking anyone. For example, if it is a ROM problem, i just change ROM. The problem is that I don't know the cause and it seems to be everything and anything, it will shut down at different length of time, sometimes when it just starts, others 30 seconds after boot has completed. I am not looking for a solution, I am more wondering what everyone else has experienced when they say they have random reboots or shutdown, because after tones of research no one has provided anything that fixes my problem.
Just to answer your question, it would random shutdown (not so much reboot) at anytime, at any battery percentage. I could do be doing anything, using any app, sometimes when I am not even using the phone.

I had a same reboot problem and tried the kushXmaster's trick with the business card and did not worked for me either, at the beginning…
There was no reboot or shutdown in bootloader mode in my device either. When I flashed new firmware and ROM the problem was gone, but only for few weeks. I tried multiple ROMs also, but always with the same result. This is why I was skeptic with the business card battery fix also.
But then I read kushXmaster's thread again and put an alu foil as shown by Shreyas Jani and pulled the ground pin as described by StuartTheFish. I still do not understand what happened, but my phone is working perfectly more than a month now, without restarts and shut downs. I do not know which solution helped (not sure if I placed a business card correctly before). But I do not want to experiment with this anymore. I did not even removed a battery cover since that time and I'm glad it is all working now.
Hope this helps.

I experienced exactly what you experienced, when i flash a new ROM it is ok for a while. Then just gets to the stage where it happens again. I also tried almost every single ROM I could find, only sense 4 seemed to help but still didn't solve this problem completely.
Thanks for the help, really useful. If what I am trying now doesn't work then what you suggested will definably be my next hope. Cheers!
Edit: I know what you mean, if it works that back cover is not coming off.
same as you
I experience now typically the same problem as yours.
Did changing firmware helped? And how to do this?

[Q] Battery charging issue

Hi all,
I bought Xperia C last week and I am facing a serious issue with its battery.
I charge my phone from 30%-70% and it took around 2hrs (which I think is fine).
But after 70%, it shows battery level to 100% within 5-10 minutes.
I also asked this question in Sony's thread but I didn't get a solution.
What should I do?

Did you do a few charging cycles. I mean, for the battery to ''settle'' itself ; its neccesary to do a full discharge to 0% then uninterrupted charge to 100% for a few times initially.
Then ,you could force stop the ''eco controller mode'' in apps, clear data (after few charge cycles) then reboot.
This calibrates the ''stamina mode''
Hope this helps: coz it sure did to me

I keep my device always in stamina mode, and sometime enable low memory mode and leave it.
Does it make something to battery charging?
Do I really need to manually calibrate "STAMINA MODE"?
@off_TOPIC: BTW, do you guys updated your XC to latest FW 16.0.B.26?? If yes, can you tell me its advantages over previous version.
Thanks & Regards,

Regarding the stamina mode: I just saw that the estimated backup time as shown in stamina mode wasnt correct after charging cycles, it showed 3 hours backup time . So I had to do something. Now it seems A-Okay.Its quite possible that you may not have this problem, but regardless it would't hurt to calibrate it.
For the 2nd query, the advantages are quite slim. The volume level has gone up (a bit), the sudden battery drain from 30 to 15% is gone (somewhat) and overall the rom feels a bit zippier then before (could be placebo). But if you're having no problems in your current rom, it seems quite pointless to update it, bdw the rom is 675 MB :silly: and it bought back all the bloatware I had deleted before.
Your choice mate

After upgrading the new version, I did factory reset and now my xperia c flows
I am happy with the performance, I think it is better than before.
Generally new firmwares patches the errors on the old firmware and improves performance. I suggest it to you

Dear Friend ... Seems similar to DHD's ... You know it gets this when it gets Rooted ... but anyway maybe a battery calibration would help ( it worked somehow with DHD ) ... But it should be a software problem so a ROM switch may help ... Good luck ...

Thanks ... How are you ? ... Well I meant DesireHD ( T9191 ) had had such problem when Rooted also HD2 when having WPH ... So I recommend you to try a battery calibration ... if not maybe a ROM switch may help ... If not , means there is Some thing related to the Radio ROM ... maybe I would be able to make a fix for it ... but needs some time ... Good luck

OH ... Sorry I had forgotten that it doesn't have the ability to switch ROM ... But anyway you can try many apps for calibration ... also one other way ... I'm not an Xperia C User but my brother is so would take look at it ... I mean if anyone can boot into recovery , Then you could charge the phone for a period of time to make sure it's full then got into CWM recovery and do a wipe battery state ... It also can be a solution but I should try that myself ... also if you could find some way to boot into recovery , then check if it fixes Or not ... Good Luck

You can try every calibration method available but you wont rid yourself of the ''battery bug''.
Its a bug in the rom itself that sony has yet to acknowledge. I tried every concieveable ways but the bug still exists. The battery lasts a superb 1.5 days or even two days but the moment it reaches 30-33%, I can literally see the battery level going down in front of my eyes to 13%.
The wierd thing is that at 13%, it stabilizes and works normally again
Oh Sorry to hear that ...

Oh I'm sorry to hear that they don't have CWM and in the Other hand ... as I know Rooting is a bit risky in this Device So I recommend to use one of the battery calibration ways I give you here ( tell me if they work ) :
------------------------------- first way : ( works for galaxy S2 )
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Fully Charge.
3. When getting 100% signal, unplug quickly.
4. Pull off the battery and put it anywhere.
5. Wait for 180 seconds exactly (be careful )
6. Meanwhile, take this opportunity to dust off the internal compartment.
7. Put back the battery on the right side.
8. Turn on the phone.
9. Pray the Battery god
10. ... and voilà !
11. After that, you can make some cycle of fully charge/discharge to ~15/20% TO complete the method
------------------------------ way 2 : ( works for galaxy S3 )
- Drain battery till it turns off.
- Get your USB jig and insert it on your s3
- Remove the USB jig and leave it till it turns off.
- Leave it for 5 minutes until the heats wears off
- Charge your phone for 10 minutes
- Turn it on
- Drain til 5%
- Insert USB charger and let it full charge
- Once full charge ( Green light appears )
- Remove charger and Enjoy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If non Of them worked you can try this app and it may solve your problem ... Good luck

Battery with 4.4.4 update

Sorry if this has been discussed previous.
Since applying the 4.4.4 OTA update 2 weeks ago I've noticed a very noticeable downturn in my battery life.
My usage has remind the same or gone down along with my routine everyday. I could easily before go 36+ hours and still have ~20% charge left. Now I'm lucky if I go 12 hours before I get a low battery alert.
Anyone else in the same boat?

Im right there with you, i havent been able to fix it as of yet. Though i am in the process of flashing my phone back to stock 4.4.3 and trying to take the ota again to see if something might of gone wrong the first time around.
I'd try factory data reset if I were you ... It's not likely you had a bad flash.. usually a bad flash results in a failed flash.
Ive done factory resets. Ive tried different roms. But every 4.4.4 rom that isnt aosp just gives really crappy battery life. Ive been trying to get different kernels but the only one i could find was buckmarbles kernel and my phone would keep freezing then restarting after a few seconds after boot..... So yeah i gave up on getting a 4.4.4 sense or gpe rom working
weird. I haven't seen any change in battery life on my One m8.
I feel like my battery life has gotten worse as well, mainly idle life. I'll be down to 90% in three hours which I would normally still be at 95-96 depending on how busy work is. If I don't use my phone I would still be at 99-100% after those three hours. Idk what happened but it bugs me
I've been having the same kind of issues. Though while still being a student I can't use my phone too freely in class, but it still drains to roughly 75% after my 3 hours in the morning, straight off the charger. I limit it to playing music occasionally but otherwise it's just on and in my pocket.
Just saw an idea on another thread. Someone said that doing a factory reset on a custom recovery doesnt touch the radio, and that factory resets on a stock recovery does. It is definitely possible something wrong with the radio could affect battery life so im gonna try to factory reset after returning to stock revocery seeing as ive only ever done it with TWRP

Ive been trying various 4.4.4 based roms on my phone and been using trickster kernel mod to look through my cpu usage, and on every rom thats 4.4.4 based my cpu is constantly maxed...... and idea why this is happening, even on stock this happens and its really irritating me that i cant use any of the new roms that are coming out and im scared i wont be able to use the lollipop update when it comes out.
Sorry about double post, thought i was editing my old post

There's an app called SystemPanel that will show you what's using your cpu. If you look at the picture farthest to the left, you'll see a little vertical bar to the left of the app or process name. That bar will show you how much cpu the process is using. The more gray in the bar, the more usage. If nothing shows up as using all of your cpu, you probably have to go into the settings and set it to show system processes (it doesn't by default).
If you don't want to install that, there's a built in tool that may show you what you want to know. You have to enable developer options in settings. Then go to advanced, then enable the option that says "show cpu usage". If you do that, an overlay will appear on the screen . If there's one app or process at the top of the list most of the time, it's more than likely the culpit.
Try going into:
settings>
wifi>
advanced>
then uncheck scanning is always available
I noticed my battery life was cut nearly in half after upgrading to 4.4.4.
Now its not back to where it was before, but its around 90% of what it was before.
Hope it helps.
Well i finally fixed my issues. Turns out i had some bad media on my phone that was causing the media scanner to go out if wack.

What media are you talking about? Like in your SD card or internal storage?
My awesome HTCm8 has gone from being a ph with great battery to one that is down to 20% by end of day.
I did wipecache on recovery mode then finally did factory reset yesterday.
Still not much luck. Android system and Android OS and cell radio consume most battery. Before the update my battery usage would only show cell standby and WiFi and phone idle. Now it's a long list including Android system and Android OS. Before update I could go 2 days without charging.
Anything I can do? Do I need to factory reset again? I want my awesome phone back. Btw I was forced to update due to constant update notification which kept plumetting my battery by keeping the phone awake orelse would never update.

Phone shutting down at random %ages (50, 60, 40+)

Hi All,
I'm facing a weird issue with my phone from more than 2 months and it has reached a frustrated level now. It used to shut off at levels like 15%, sometimes between 15-25%. But nowadays, it shuts down automatically at 40-60% and that is really unreliable. So, i wanted to check if there are other people facing the same issue or is it only my device. Please share your views, any possible solutions, possible reasons, and if applicable, similar experiences.
thanks for the info, i got my oneplus one back in 2013, hopefully it will not shutdown after a while. i have not found such problem and hope i will not in the future as i want to have the phone for at least 5 years

I had the same issue after I updated to MM and recently after latest update also. I had to do the same thing. Reason behind that was xposed was incompatible. But as I flashed everything. (/system/data too ) now its working fine

thanks so much, bought it after my nexus4 died which im still sad about because its one of my 1st real android phones after having a contract android phone.
As an update, i kept my phone on charge for straight 4-5 hours. and now it shuts down after 20-25%. Definitely an improvement. But still it's a mystery why does it show this bug in the first place.
Umm, how has no one mentioned maybe trying battery calibration!? Seems like a fairly obvious first step here to take before swapping out for a new battery.. Plug the phone in and let it charge entirely. Even at 100% in Settings > Battery it will still show "100% - Charging on AC" (or USB whatever you've got connected)
You need to wait for that to turn into "100% - Charged." Then, calibrate using any battery calibration app from the playstore, ( I use this one )
After it charges to 100% - Charged, hit "calibrate" in the app, disconnect the charger, and let it drain entirely. You might find it dying out before 0% once again, but this hopefully should have been the last time. Plug the phone in and switch it on as soon as you can while it starts to charge. Let it charge uninterruptedly to 100% - Charged, again.
Not saying this might solve it 100% but it is an option to try.

Well already tried and i may sound a bit silly, but studies have proved that battery calibration is a myth. Android automatically cleans the batterystats.bin file after every single full charge. Rest assured, i have already done that with no avail.

I had the same problem, phone was switching off @ 40% and at times @35%. Battery calibration certainly helped. No more problems now. Works well if the phone is rooted.

mate 9 login lag and screen freeze

have any one experienced similar issues? lately my mate 9 is been acting up while unlocking the phone, it gets unresponsive for a while and then goes back to normal, sometimes gets unlocked but touchscreen is not responding for 10-15 secs then goes into unlock mode and after unlock it is working fine.
not sure if this is because of recent FW upgrade to B225 or something else.
hope is not a sign that it will fail in the near future!!!

this issue is getting more annoying and happening more often, any idea how to fix it? rebooting does not help, not sure if its some android process or the emui interface will test installing another launcher and see if the behavior is still the same
update: installing nova launcher didnt help still the phone is lagging even freezing for up to 5-8 secs,

Same issue here but add battery drain to the symptoms. Like the original poster says, it only started a couple weeks ago. I've uninstalled so may apps I've lost track and the issue persists. I use Nine heavily for email and is my top power hungry.
I think I found the issue, fingerprint sensor seems to be causing the lagging on my case, I disable it yesterday and so far I haven't had any lag issues, I decided to stay with Nova launcher tho, will run it for couple of more days and then will switch back to Emui for more testing. it is a shame tho cuz I love fingerprint unlock, hopefully it goes back to normal in future updates.

i usually had battery drain after every FW update, what I do is after the FW update is let the phone deplete the battery then charge it to full and restart it one more time, after that works fine for me (up to 1.5 - 2 days on battery) also I used phone manager now and then to optimize it

I forgot about the Hauwei optimize thing. I did that and wiped my cache from the built in (not TWRP) bootloader/recovery tool.
