[Q] Battery charging issue - Sony Xperia C

Hi all,
I bought Xperia C last week and I am facing a serious issue with its battery.
I charge my phone from 30%-70% and it took around 2hrs (which I think is fine).
But after 70%, it shows battery level to 100% within 5-10 minutes.
I also asked this question in Sony's thread but I didn't get a solution.
What should I do?

Hey man, nice to see you here.. .ya it's happening occasionally here too.. but after proper battery discharge and recharge few times, the battery calliberation gets done i think, and then the issue is resolved.
howz your 2011 Xperia (Arc i beleive) going? Ditched completely?

Did you do a few charging cycles. I mean, for the battery to ''settle'' itself ; its neccesary to do a full discharge to 0% then uninterrupted charge to 100% for a few times initially.
Then ,you could force stop the ''eco controller mode'' in apps, clear data (after few charge cycles) then reboot.
This calibrates the ''stamina mode''
Hope this helps: coz it sure did to me

I still have Xperia Neo V, kept it for the development purpose because it is rooted and I don't want to root XC right now.

I keep my device always in stamina mode, and sometime enable low memory mode and leave it.
Does it make something to battery charging?
Do I really need to manually calibrate "STAMINA MODE"?
@off_TOPIC: BTW, do you guys updated your XC to latest FW 16.0.B.26?? If yes, can you tell me its advantages over previous version.
Thanks & Regards,
Gagan Singh

Regarding the stamina mode: I just saw that the estimated backup time as shown in stamina mode wasnt correct after charging cycles, it showed 3 hours backup time . So I had to do something. Now it seems A-Okay.Its quite possible that you may not have this problem, but regardless it would't hurt to calibrate it.
For the 2nd query, the advantages are quite slim. The volume level has gone up (a bit), the sudden battery drain from 30 to 15% is gone (somewhat) and overall the rom feels a bit zippier then before (could be placebo). But if you're having no problems in your current rom, it seems quite pointless to update it, bdw the rom is 675 MB :silly: and it bought back all the bloatware I had deleted before.
Your choice mate

If the app is on the sd card after reboot app disappearing from launcher is resolved.

After upgrading the new version, I did factory reset and now my xperia c flows
I am happy with the performance, I think it is better than before.
Generally new firmwares patches the errors on the old firmware and improves performance. I suggest it to you

Dear Friend ... Seems similar to DHD's ... You know it gets this when it gets Rooted ... but anyway maybe a battery calibration would help ( it worked somehow with DHD ) ... But it should be a software problem so a ROM switch may help ... Good luck ...

Thanks ... How are you ? ... Well I meant DesireHD ( T9191 ) had had such problem when Rooted also HD2 when having WPH ... So I recommend you to try a battery calibration ... if not maybe a ROM switch may help ... If not , means there is Some thing related to the Radio ROM ... maybe I would be able to make a fix for it ... but needs some time ... Good luck

OH ... Sorry I had forgotten that it doesn't have the ability to switch ROM ... But anyway you can try many apps for calibration ... also one other way ... I'm not an Xperia C User but my brother is so would take look at it ... I mean if anyone can boot into recovery , Then you could charge the phone for a period of time to make sure it's full then got into CWM recovery and do a wipe battery state ... It also can be a solution but I should try that myself ... also if you could find some way to boot into recovery , then check if it fixes Or not ... Good Luck

You can try every calibration method available but you wont rid yourself of the ''battery bug''.
Its a bug in the rom itself that sony has yet to acknowledge. I tried every concieveable ways but the bug still exists. The battery lasts a superb 1.5 days or even two days but the moment it reaches 30-33%, I can literally see the battery level going down in front of my eyes to 13%.
The wierd thing is that at 13%, it stabilizes and works normally again

Oh Sorry to hear that ...

Oh I'm sorry to hear that they don't have CWM and in the Other hand ... as I know Rooting is a bit risky in this Device So I recommend to use one of the battery calibration ways I give you here ( tell me if they work ) :
------------------------------- first way : ( works for galaxy S2 )
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Fully Charge.
3. When getting 100% signal, unplug quickly.
4. Pull off the battery and put it anywhere.
5. Wait for 180 seconds exactly (be careful )
6. Meanwhile, take this opportunity to dust off the internal compartment.
7. Put back the battery on the right side.
8. Turn on the phone.
9. Pray the Battery god
10. ... and voilà !
11. After that, you can make some cycle of fully charge/discharge to ~15/20% TO complete the method
------------------------------ way 2 : ( works for galaxy S3 )
- Drain battery till it turns off.
- Get your USB jig and insert it on your s3
- Remove the USB jig and leave it till it turns off.
- Leave it for 5 minutes until the heats wears off
- Charge your phone for 10 minutes
- Turn it on
- Drain til 5%
- Insert USB charger and let it full charge
- Once full charge ( Green light appears )
- Remove charger and Enjoy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If non Of them worked you can try this app and it may solve your problem ... Good luck

[DEV] Photon battery driver, TEST version

Hi guys,
Enclosed zImage with new battery driver for those who want to test and report for errors.
Testers, please read this carefully:
- this is a TEST kernel. not a public release. only for testers.
- i am not responsible if you brick your phone, use it at your own risks
Known issues:
- AVOID to charge your phone. i need further tests to be sure it is safe
- in case you still want to charge it, DO NOT USE AC CABLE. only use USB cable connected to a PC.
- the phone does not responds after android goes in sleep mode. just press the "power on" button, and wait few seconds for android to enable screen. this needs to be fixed
- if you suspect there is an issue in the percentage reporting, please compare with WinMo percentage you got first before reporting.
Thanks for your help
edit: I tested it on my phone, but could not validate if all values are OK. i continue to test!
edit2: new version that supports wifi
Android battery driver running!
Hi,
it´s working @ my Mini.
Loading via usb is working fine.
Now we need the mic.
Thanks a lot,

hi robin,GREAT JOB!
I confirm it works(I have 80% on WM and 73% on Android)..so you are close..very close
and also my phone didn't get bricked lol ,pfew
keep it going robin, you are doing great
Thank you
My mini still alive too
It was 80% in WM when I run haret, then it shows full battery while loading and after it has booted to desktop battery indicator has showed 80% (in Settings-Battery)
@tzacapaca There are 10% blocks, how have you seen 73% value? Haven't find that.
It works fine, thanks
Excellent Job Robin Thanks
I am little........., will this really cause your phone bomb or something if not same phone????
thanks guys!
i tested it on my mini, the values need fine tuning but works
but values you have under WinMo are only by step of 10%, not really accurate :/
this driver shall not bomb or crash your hd mini dont worry, but you never know:
just dont try to perform a full charge because im not sure yet phone will stops charging by itself.
also dont use android if battery is below 5%, not sure android can display low batt warning and stop device at the good time
if you plug your mini to your computer using USB, im not sure the reported values are correct
i need some time to stabilize it, it is only a test driver!

Sometimes is shutting down even when Im sure the battery is around 75%, without any warrning about low battery.
I made factory settings recall, so now I checking as shrex wrote, if my battery and check are all the time conected.
Anyway, if anyone solved problem which I got and FahmiFitu I'm still open for advices.

i think you're battery is not properly calibrated since it is showing weird percentages. if you are rooted, try wiping the battery stats in you're recovery. otherwise return it to HTC if you still have you're warranty. :S
good luck! :good:
i got the same problem. with officiall stock rom, 1 minute my fone restart 10 times. i try with a lot roms, but the fone still turn off automatically.
i will try the solution you mention above.
Hi,
I was having the same problem, I found out that it was a bad battery state reading problem, that means that the phone is saying the battery is 60% or 30% but in fact the REAL battery state is under 5% and the phone shut down unexpectedly. on the other hand, that could be a bad contact between the phone battery connectors and the Battery, so the phone will demand lotta voltage and when the battery couldn't provide such power you'll lose charge and to prevent the phone from being damaged it will automatically shut down.
So, as they said above, try to put some paper at the top right corner of the battery, it will push it down to have a good contact.
hope that might help...
I solved the problem ! I tied a piece of paper and put it under the battery , and downloaded a battery calibration app from the play store !
and untill now (4 days ) my phone didnt shut down unexpectedly ... WIN

[Q] LG P920 Battery problem

Problem is that about a year ago my phone wanted to update it self , so i did , sadly. Problems begin battery showed up to 0% , try'd different chargers , different battery's.. nothing. So i just bought a new phone , but now i hope to get that one working again. So past 2 week's i looked every corner what this forum has and can't find solution. I readed in some topic that one guy got he's battery problem fixed by installing ThiaiZ O3D V2.7.1 , so i did everything what i needed and installed fine "ThiaiZ O3D V2.8 GB" (2.7.1 link is down) after that i put my phone to charger and thought it ended my problems cause it was charging till 2% so there it stoped and didn't go up. I even let calibrate my batterys after that in official store hoped that it will fix it but no. So i found somewhere another option to check on and cleared my "Google services framework" data. Nothing evey time when i put it to charger it will charge till 2% , i let it to charge about 24hours nothing changed.
Hopefully i was specific enough with my problem and someone here has any ideas what i should do.
Thank you.
The problem (unless battery is bad, which I doubt) is LG's crummy updater software. Use LG Flash Tool to reflash your firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39269819
Once drivers are set up properly on your pc (step 1), you can proceed with flashing the .bin (firmware) and .fls (baseband) provided there or whatever .bin or .fls of your choosing.
I actually followed your thread from step 1) to 2.5.
I didnt install XBSA v8 or vR3D rom , so magically it started charging after about 30min. Thankyou for that , acctually can't thank enough for that.
BUT... Now i have a little more problem... it dosent matter how much it stays in charger it chargers till 94% and not further up. So i thought that 94% is also a nice one , but even if i dont use phone it will drop like 2% in 30sec , so after 30minutes the phone is empty.. Any more suggestions?
Btw the thread what you linked me , it is amazing for noob like me , biiiig thanks for that.

I have the same problem with my P920. I can`t find a solution for this problem.
Sometimes drops from 80% to 1%, connecting to the charger nothing happens. Sometimes stays at 1% and a cross in the battery icon
I have 2 batterys, same behavior. Any solution?
Thanks.

If you have an overerclock app it could be the settings. I had mine on performance once (bad idea) and I had sudden power loss.
Otherwise it could be corrupt system from bad flash.
I have tried the method from your tutorial XBSA V8 , step by step, didn't solve. at this moment, writing this message, I have 1% in battery icon.(passed from 64% to 1%) even doing wipe cache and Calvin didn't solved.
I`m using Win7 x64 for the process, can be this the problem for the bad flashing?

Win 7 x64 is what I have. Recheck step 1. Very critical for successful flash. Also be sure you uninstalled all LG drivers and software from your pc and reboot it before beginning. All antivirus should be off when extracting files. Read all details carefully. The 4 wipes in recovery before installing the ROMs is important too.
Also be sure your charger is good, and that the battery is making good connection inside the phone (no bent contact pins, etc.).

Phone shutting down at random %ages (50, 60, 40+)

Hi All,
I'm facing a weird issue with my phone from more than 2 months and it has reached a frustrated level now. It used to shut off at levels like 15%, sometimes between 15-25%. But nowadays, it shuts down automatically at 40-60% and that is really unreliable. So, i wanted to check if there are other people facing the same issue or is it only my device. Please share your views, any possible solutions, possible reasons, and if applicable, similar experiences.
thanks for the info, i got my oneplus one back in 2013, hopefully it will not shutdown after a while. i have not found such problem and hope i will not in the future as i want to have the phone for at least 5 years

I had the same issue after I updated to MM and recently after latest update also. I had to do the same thing. Reason behind that was xposed was incompatible. But as I flashed everything. (/system/data too ) now its working fine

thanks so much, bought it after my nexus4 died which im still sad about because its one of my 1st real android phones after having a contract android phone.
As an update, i kept my phone on charge for straight 4-5 hours. and now it shuts down after 20-25%. Definitely an improvement. But still it's a mystery why does it show this bug in the first place.
Umm, how has no one mentioned maybe trying battery calibration!? Seems like a fairly obvious first step here to take before swapping out for a new battery.. Plug the phone in and let it charge entirely. Even at 100% in Settings > Battery it will still show "100% - Charging on AC" (or USB whatever you've got connected)
You need to wait for that to turn into "100% - Charged." Then, calibrate using any battery calibration app from the playstore, ( I use this one )
After it charges to 100% - Charged, hit "calibrate" in the app, disconnect the charger, and let it drain entirely. You might find it dying out before 0% once again, but this hopefully should have been the last time. Plug the phone in and switch it on as soon as you can while it starts to charge. Let it charge uninterruptedly to 100% - Charged, again.
Not saying this might solve it 100% but it is an option to try.

Well already tried and i may sound a bit silly, but studies have proved that battery calibration is a myth. Android automatically cleans the batterystats.bin file after every single full charge. Rest assured, i have already done that with no avail.

I had the same problem, phone was switching off @ 40% and at times @35%. Battery calibration certainly helped. No more problems now. Works well if the phone is rooted.

Hey man, sorry to hear that you are also facing the same problem Can you share some specifics?
- Have you ever rooted your phone?
- Does your phone shut down within seconds of opening snapchat, regardless of the current battery level?
- Have you experienced totally unstable performance, like sudden battery level drops of 20-30%?
- Have you tried going back to a lower firmware?
- Have you tried removing the SD card, if any?
Let's work together to understand our problem better and hope for a solution

Hey man,
So,
Couple of things about my problem so that we can maybe point out similarities and maybe a common cause.
- I had my phone rooted the first time the problem appeared (android 4.4.4)
- I updated my phone to Lollipop, and that's when i first started getting hints of this problem
- At first i thought, it was a charging issue. but it started happening more and more often.
- now, it pretty much happens everyday and is making my life miserable.
- I started to notice that my battery roughly dies around 37%. From what i've read online, this battery level can be different from person to person.
- From the moment it dies, it restarts itself and goes into a bootloop.
- The moment i plug it back in, it show a battery level of 0%.
- And then, within a few minutes, the battery level goes back to where it initially was when it first died.
- My battery discharge was really turbulent, the whole graph was a mess. I would see sharp drop till I would reach the dreaded 30% area.
- I noticed that right after I enter snapchat, it takes about 3-5 seconds for the reboot to happen. This happens regardless of the battery level as it has once happened to me at about 80% battery.
- The best thing that ever happened to me was when i first took out my SD card. It was 64 GB samsung sd card so i thought it would really mesh together well. I never thought about it being a possible cause. Boy was i wrong, turns out my battery performance almost returned to normal. Got to about 75% after 9 hours. No snapchat but again around the 11 hour mark. I launched chrome and the BAM, it happened again :'(
- I decided to unroot and return to 4.4.4 thinking that a custom kernel was the problem.
- Still No Luck
I have read many places online that it maybe an issue with the battery. But, I refuse to believe that is the issue. i have also tried another battery. although i think it may have been fake. Haven't tried a replacement OEM battery yet.
I would suggest a few things you can do:
- For starters take a screenshot of your current battery usage charts and then once the problem happens, remove the SD card and charge your phone while powered off and report back with another screenshot so that we can compare and see if removing the SD card has had any positive effect.
- Please clarify if you have ever rooted? sorry I was unable to fully understand from your answer.

Do u mean by installing this ur battery last upto 0%. Without reboots / bootloop....
Can u confirm ur model no and firmware version.
Guys after a lot of search found something to save much more battery life, worked for me, give a try:
1,open dialer and dial *#0228#
2,after dialing *#0228# the battery status menu will popup.
3,hit ( quick start ) at bottom of the screen in red color
4,hit ( yes ) and go to settings/battery and disable fast charging for 1 charge only.
5,power off the phone and charge to 100%.
6,turn on the phone and if it shows 97,98,99 plug in charger again and charge to 100%.
7,once it charge to 100% unplug charger and this will create new battery calibration status automatically.now you can enable fast charge again.
8, Next go to play store and download wakelock power app and install it. Open the app and hit (PARTIAL WAKE LOCK) as in screenshot below.
This app will help the cpu to run much more efficient and smoother and also prevent device from over heating and this app does not require root access.
Download wakelock power app link below.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...u.thedarken.wl
THIS METOHOD WORKS ONLY WITH STOCK OFFICIAL FIRMWARE IF YOU ARE RUNNING AOSP ROMS/CYANOGENMOD ROMS/NOTE7 ROMS/S7EDGE ROMS/ OR OTHER PORTED ROMS DIALING *#0228# MAY NOT WORK. (SOME PORTS COULD WORK LIKE Dr. KetanRom, EnhancedRom, RamRom.)
HIT THANKS IF THIS WORKS FOR YOU

Thanks for the help,I appreciate it but unfortunately it's still restarting and getting stuck in a boot loop and this continues until I plug my phone in. This battery is only 8 months old. And this problem didn't start until the last security update. It's getting worse every day. It started happening at 80%, now when my phone gets to 98% it goes into this boot loop. I have the Verizon version. Maybe I'll try a factory reset

Now you're getting somewhere, from the sounds of it.
It almost sounds like the security system in the phone is seeing something it doesn't like on startup and doing a reboot to try and purge it.
I really hate Samsung's built in security.
