I am facing an issue that happened out of the blue , took the mate 9 out of charge , boot it up and i was greeted with a black screen ( only soft keys are displayed but they're not responsive ) ?
the phone boots correctly ( boot animation and sound) ,charges , is recognised by my pc but the even though the screen is lit , it stays black ( not sure if i make any sense now )
i have attached a picture of the issue to my post if anybody has encountered the issue please help me out .. i'm kinda freaking out now
Mate 9 model is MHA-L29
I had a similar problem after a factory reset. Had to send it back to Huawei for a reflash. Nowadays you can recover it using FunkyHuawei, assuming it's not actually a hardware issue. Give it a go.
Having said that I would try a factory reset from the recovery menu first.

You don't need a PayPal account to pay via their service. Google it.
If you don't mind the wait I would just send it for repair though.

i rather send it back to repair, actually i'd just get refunded . i read further about funkyhuawei and to be honest i am a bit surprised to see that xda became a place where reseller sell stuff now ( back in the days there was a developer selling firmware for legacy 2011 xperia devices and he got banned).
i would understand donations but paying 30$ for credits and whatnot is not donations anymore .. anyway enough rambling . no more huawei devices for me
please mods lock this thread
I am having the same problem too could you solve it?
I was doing hard reset wipe data and then factory reset it seems while doing the wipe its not done completely firt it reaches 15% then it jumps to 100%
after the factor reset first I had a locked screen with emergency dialer and a space to put password but there is no keyboard and now I have a black screen with the soft keys like shown in your picture please help me if you have a solution beside even if i want to use funky huwaei I can't because I don't know what is my build number I just know the model which is MHA-L29
Is your problem fixed?
Did you solve your problem after sending it Huawei? Did the fix the problem...

just wondering if anybody can help me, ive had my phone back from orange/ee repair twice now only for it to develop the same problem yet again, ok so the phone is completely factory standard, i make folders on my home screen with various apps in each and i can access each folder properly, i then turn the phone off when i go to sleep at night and put it on charge, when i wake up in the morning i unplug the phone, turn it on and let it wake up, i then try to access the folders i created and cant when i touch them, this is the part that confuses me, if i touch above the folders i can then access them, if i put another app above the folder and try to open that it will only open the folder below, please could someone enlighten me as to what may be causing this, thankyou
This is only a guess so don't shoot the messenger
Try;
Go to Menu - Settings - Language & Keyboard - HTC Sense Input - Advanced. Then choose either Calibration Tool or Reset calibration
It's meant for text input but ya never know!

HI brother ...
Well, it seems like a firmware problem, to avoid some stupid preactions, throw the phone to Orange repair group, and see if they can fix it.

i know what you're saying mate, but its been for repair twice already and come back with the same fault both times, dont you think throwing it back at them a third time would be taking the iss a bit?

Hi brother ...
Personally, i don't know how to fix it, but, as i told you it seems a software problem, if you don't wanna take it back, just try some custom ROMS or try to install International version of One S Software using RUU, this i guess may solve the issue .
Cordially.

yeh im starting to believe it is a software issue now, i spoke to the chap in the ee shop yesterday and he said he is going to get in contact with his area manager and push to get my phone replaced because he agreed that this was unacceptable, so fingers crossed I'll hopefully have a new phone in the next couple of days. i was considering rooting and flashing a custom rom but really didnt want to because obviously it wouldve voided the warranty, i'll let you know how i get on in a few days, thankyou for taking the time to reply and try and help :screwy:

Third time back from repair, HTC UK this time and the phone still has the same fault, got told in the EE shop that that was all they could do for me and try contacting orange customer services to see if they might replace the phone. Im starting to get very p*ssed off with orange now as you can most probably understand, so now im thinking of rooting the device and flashing a Rom that hopefully won't cause me the issues this one is

If your device has been back to repair 3 times with the same issue, and still not fixed you are eligible to get a brand new one.

I'm currently locked out of my phone with no way that I know of to get back into it. I'm not sure exactly what happened - I must have 'pocket unlocked' it and bumped it against my leg enough times to where it's stuck on the screen asking for my Google account info. (It says I entered my pattern incorrectly too many times.)
This wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the fact that I didn't have WiFi or mobile data enabled at the time. Because of that, it can't send my information.
The only solution I've heard so far is to do a factory reset, which I really don't want to do. I've got loads of pictures and other things on it that I can't sync to my computer at the moment, and there's no way I'm losing those.
Does anyone here have an alternative solution? If so, please tell. This is urgent.

Nope.. factory reset unless you have twrp... If you can access twrp then you simply need to plug it in and mount usb..
Short of that you are out of luck. Even HTC will tell you to factory reset in bootloader

Has anyone had this issue and fixed it successfully?
Update1: I contacted LG and Amazon. LG walked me tru a process of a factory reset, however I couldn't do the process from the phone because it would reset too quickly, is there any way of doing it from a pc?
I also requested a refund or a replacement, with no luck so far, LG customer service is one of the worst so far I have dealt with, and Amazon pretty much washed their hands since it has been over 90 days from the purchase ( I bought my phone late on january)
Update2: LG has the worst customer support ever, they would just keep repeating their policies without fully understanding my situation, none support, or replacement, or refund given even when my guarantee expires next year
Update3: Idc if it deletes all my data, if anyone manages to come with a solution that brings my phone back to work I will love you forever

I think your power button is stuck. If you have a case on take it off. Mash the power button a number of times. You could take it to a cell repair store and have then replace it.

Hi all,
I've a Nexus 5, stock rom 4.4.4, rooted.
Since 3 or 4 days I have unwanted reboots. And today, my nexus powered off and didn't want to reboot.
Even I press the power button for a long time (more than a couple of minutes) , nothing happend.
The only thing I got, is when the device is plugged on usb charger : the nexus boot on the google logo then switch off and boot again on the google logo then switch off again and again and again....
I can't access bootloader or recovery...
Any ideas??? If the device is bricked, I just want to recover my. Is the flash memory could be recovered?
Thanks for your help.
Cheers
Please up !!
I need to recover my baby's pictures.....
I have exactly same problem on my Nexus 5 too. It dies right in my hands 2 days ago. I'm also not able to get even to the recovery, so I'm sending my device to RMA. Hopefully, I will get new unit or refund.

Yeah, but here, where do I live, we have a 2 year warranty for products, so I should be still covered, thankfully.
I can RMA my device too. So Google will send me a refurbished one. My problem is that I still can't recover my data.

AFAIK you can't do anything if you don't have access to fastboot/recovery/Android. Duplicating important contents should a rule for everyone.

Well, but that's not a Google problem, you should backup your phone data on regular basis. Next time, use for example a Google Photos app, which will automatically backup your photos for free.
I hate the title of this thread
try pressing both volume buttons and then pluggin in into your computer (via usb cable), see if it goes and stay at download mode
So I finally got my Nexus 5 back. I received refurbished unit, and feels so good to be back on rooted Android again (was suffering with stock HTC One M7 during RMA)

You mean Android's soft menu? It happens very rarely but indeed I have experienced it. Hidding or switching the keyboard and then bringing it back has always been enough to sort it.

No it is the two buttons sitting next to the fingerprint scanner, "back" and what the oter one is called...
Now and then they stop responding, about once every 2-3 days, i then have to reboot the phone for them to woek again, leading me to think it is something firmware related...
The phone have been acting this way since i bougt it, and remain still with latest firmware update, so it is nothing new to me, just annoying...
The first thing to try would be a factory reset and clearing the system cache.

Ok i will do that, i just had a feeling it was a firmware issue, becource it allways dissapear if rebooted...
- a hardware defect would not be that constant i thought...
After a reboot there allways is at least one day with no problems...

return and get a new one if possible, not worth tinkering with it if it did that out of the box.
you probably can fix it but why would you if its done it since day one? id return and get a new one
if returning isnt an option, you can try and factory reset maybe even wipe cache in erecovery first?
but in all instances id return
I have same problem with my Mate 9 Pro, the keys just vanish and then my screen dont autorotate and the proximity sensor stops working, when i make a call and put the phone to my ear the screen stays on.
