Hi guys,
I bought an Galaxy S6 Edge Sprint, supposed to be unlocked. When I inserted my international GSM SIM card (tried with several carriers), it recognize it but when I'm searching for the network carrier it cannot find any, giving an error message.
By checking *#0011#: the following info return:
No Service
Network: UNBLOCK
IMEI Certi: PASS,1
Unknown
UE MODE:CSFB
ASM MIPI DEVICE FAIL
DEVICE MID=0x11a, PID=0x0d5
By checking IMEI online, is saying that is not blacklisted.
The phone was factory reset, and is on 6.0.1, Build MMB29K.G925PVPU4CPL3 if is of any use.
Can anyone tell me what can be wrong and if can be fixed?
Thanks a lot.
ASM MIPI DEVICE FAIL indicates that phone has HW problem. Please check phone HW.

N00B here! but tried to gather as much info as I could..
Got a VZW droid 2 global from ebay that the seller profiled as "unlocked"
I'm in Central America and trying to register it with a GSM 850/1900 carrier but it won't connect to the network at all.
It had a 14 IMEI code... found it's translation to 15 to 17 IMEI and bought a the unlock code on a site. I got the unlock code but the phone has nowhere to enter it.
Found a post stating that it should ask for the code after inserting a foreign sim card or waiting 30 minutes if nothing happens. tried that and there's no prompt.
I have accessed the testing menu with *#*#4636#*#* and select the GSM only and WCDMA preferred (I got an HTC Inspire 4G working with that one here) and it is recognizing the GSM 850/1900 local carriers but unable to get any network access from them.
Found that VZW locks the carrier's network ids but the phone is recognizing them.
Again: ir recognizes the networks but is not asking for an unlock code... all the posts states to enter the code but they don't say how (the phone must prompt it automatically)
Please let me know if there is any way to manually pull up the field to enter the unlock code or if I can try anything else to unlock it
Thanks!
First, the phone's IMEI is written on the label under the battery.
Second, if you switch it to GSM mode it will output the IMEI in *#06# and in Settings, About phone, Status.
The 14 digit code you mentioned is probably MEID in hex form.
Switching to GSM is done by going to Settings, Wireless & networks, Mobile networks, Network Mode.
Using the service menu you mentioned is wrong and can lead to the phone being unable to connect to GSM at all, in which case you must reflash the SBF.
Actually I got the unlock code but there is nowhere to enter it.
Also it allowed to me to at least view the available networks after changing it to GSM/WCDMA and seems to be trying to connect to one but there's no signal at all.
If I do a network search now it will show me the available networks 5 or 6 (2G&3G), selected one and it just shows that it is not able to connect to that network
BTW, found that the radio was off as well and had to switch it on using the testing menu because by going to Settings, Wireless & networks, Mobile networks didn't allow me to access it at all, it was just grayed out and there was no way I could turn on the radio using that option..... sorry... I think I got everything I need except where to enter the unlock code
It looks like you have successfully (like other people before you) fried the GSM radio settings. Congratulations.
You need to flash the SBF to reset the phone's radio module to its original state.
If you actually bought a phone that was already unlocked it won't ask for an unlock code.
A locked phone asks for the code the moment you power it on and let it boot with a non-Verizon SIM card.
The code you supposedly bought is not for your phone at all, because you requested it for an IMEI you made yourself from something that was never an IMEI.
For me, The unlock screen appear only on original rom with non-verizon sim.
not appear on custom rom.
Hi everyone,
I am experiencing a quite strange problem with my samsung galaxy S GT-I9000, Gingerbread 2.3.6 JVU.
All of a sudden, it became unable to connect to network with my Three simcard.
It says emergency calls only, is able to research for networks but cannot register on them
The strange part is that the simcard is fully functionnal on other devices.
The really strange part is that my phone is able to connect to network with other simcards.
I found posts with people experiencing some similar problems and tried to use their solution but without success :
- flashed the ROM (3 or 4 times with different firmwares).
- Factory reset
- Backup / Repair the efs file using efs pro
- tested that my IMEI is fully readable
- Conversion to Buddhism
- verified the APN data
I was thinking that my IMEI might have been ban by error, but my phone should have not been abled to register on network with different sim cards ?
I think maybe there's something interesting, in the service mode, in the debug screen; in sim information I have :
SIM type : USIM
SIM State : Pb Init
SIM Reset : StartUp
Does anyone has ever encountered the same problem or have any suggestions ?
Thank you,

HELP! HELP! HELP! Just received my new Start S5 Cell Phone - it's a beauty....BUT can't get the GSM phone to work here in Anaheim. Ca. Tried several GSM carriers (ATT, T-Mobile, Net10). Tried both Slot1 and Slot2 Sim & Micro Sim. NO TOWER CONNECTION. I'm only a block away from a tower! Something in the setup or maybe the IMEI is blocked in the USA. CAN ANYONE HELP?
download mobileuncletools and enter the engineermode of your device. you can check the frequency supported by your chipset. these have to match to the carrier you are using. there are some problems in the US, no problems here in europe at all.
Hello!
A friend of mine recently bought a Moto G from a random person. It seemed to work just fine with a mexican Telcel SIM card (so we suspect it is an XT1032 like the one I have). After that we unlocked the bootloader, flashed a custom recovery (philz) and then flashed a stock Lollipop ROM from this thread (no bootloader update problem).
Then the problems started: the phone can get internet just fine from the mobile company (Telcel), but CAN'T MAKE PHONE CALLS. It just displays a "Mobile network not available" dialog. It didn't matter if we used any SIM card (we tried with multiple that we know that work on other phones). So then we flashed a mexican stock KitKat version from this thread but the same problem still happens (again, we tried with multiple working SIMs).
I've looked for solutions. Some of them suggest looking onto the *#*#4636#*#* option, but it does literally nothing on the phone. Here is the info from the "Status" section in the About Phone option of the Settings:
Network: TELCEL
Mobile network type: HSPA+
Service state: Out of service
Roaming: Not roaming
Mobile network state: Connected
My phone number: Unknown
IMEI: (this one seems to be correct)
Any help to solve the problem is appreciated. Thanks a lot!
No info on this?
As I mentioned, other threads and forums with similar problems mention solutions that don't work. I'm still looking but people with this problem never seem to get a solution.
Hello,
So i have a Galaxy S6 (Cricket US) Unlocked and i am using it here in Pakistan.
Problem is that everytime i try to enter Ussd code it gives me this error " Connection problem or invalid MMI code." and this pops up instantly i can't even see the "Ussd code running" that loads initially when you dail code.
I can still make calls and send texts even the imei check code (*#06#) is working.
This is not my carrier problem as the codes are working on other phones.
I have searched everywhere (google, yotube etc) and tried every solution but nothing helped me.
So far i have tried :
1-Restarting
2-Using , and + trick
3-Booting in Safe mode
4-Factory Reset
5-Selecting Mobile Network many times.
Here is some info by Samsung Phone info app
Model: SM-G920AZ
Knox Warranty: 0x0
Firmware CSC Code: AIO
CSC Country: USA / US
Mobile Operator: Zong / 41004
Android 7.0 / SDK 24
There might be a lock or some of its LTE(4G) bands, or the network type is set to LTE(4G) only (though this shouldn't have survived the factory reset), try setting the network type to auto or 3g/2g. Enable CS+PS (VC) in the menu with the band selection if it was changed there previously.
