Toggling data with Tasker on honor 8 - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi Tasker friends,
I need some help with my honor 8. I do not want to root it, but I do want to be able to toggle mobile data using Tasker. I was trying to do so using autoinputt, but it only works, if I go to quick setting by myself. Then the profile triggers. Tasker is configured the way that, if I lose my WiFi connection, it should trigger autoinputt to go to quick settings and the click on mobile data. However as stated above it doesn't work.
That's why I'd like to make a task, which triggers a NFC profile using the honor app magic tag. My profiles in that app are capable of toggling mobile data. So the Tasker task should somehow trigger the nfc profile!
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Does this help?

Hi and thanks. This works like a charm!
However now I am trying to make a task which toggles data only if it's off. I cannot find any way for Tasker to check if data is on or off!?
Is there any way to do so?

Need a way to automatically turn cell radio off/on at work!

So at work I have ZERO cell signal inside. The building is metal, the windows tinted with metallic tint. Cell Standby is raping my battery, is there any way to automatically disable and then enable the cell radio when I connect/disconnect to work WiFi?
I've tried this in tasker and trigger and it wasn't supported! Currently running cataclysm ROM but its smart radio feature cannot disable cell radio but only switch from LTE to 2g/3g.
There must be a way to do this automatically. Doing it manually is too risky if I forget even once to re-enable it.
You can use dpad buttons in tasker to do it.

I don't know about any phone settings, but if you can't find one, you can always pop out the SIM card hehe. It won't bother looking for a cell connection, but wifi will still be fine.
You can maybe install NFC chips in the car and at work (if your boss let's you to signal the phone on and off for the network.

AutomateIt with location trigger?

Any automation program will do. Llama is free and easy to use, Tasker is more advanced.
Still cannot get tasker to do this, even with secure settings and helper installed.

What seems to be the problem?

I think Juice defender has the ability to do this, it detects that your connected to "a network" and you can automate it to do various things. I think.........
I use Automateit and it works as expected.

Wifi Connected: Li3
Cell radio off:
Secure settings airplane mode radios: Cell
Secure settings Airplane Mode Enabled
Exit task:
Cell radio on:

When tasker tries to run the task it says: "An error occurred while executing Action: Airplane Mode Radios!". I have airplane mode radios set to "Cell" only.

I don't NEED it but I'd like it to automatically turn airplane mode off for cell radio when I leave work. If I forgot to do it myself once then people couldn't reach me at all.
Still this doesn't interfere with the main problem, disabling cell radio has an error message and does nothing.

I mean, won't Airplane Mode turn off automatically when the Wifi connection is lost? Because I've had exit tasks screw up my profiles before, and it turned out I didn't even need them.

Try the alternative Helper?
Also, why do you turn on and off airplane mode?

[Q] Llama Nlpwakelock

Hi all,
Interesting problem I have with llama. Getting Nlpwakelocks as shown in the screenshot.
I've set work and home, and the wakelock was happening at work. My work setting is only to disable GPS, Enable mobile data and disable WiFi if not connected. Any ideas about why llama is causing this? I've seen Nlpwakelocks else where but not under the Llama app.
Regards,
John
How is llama set to know you're at work? If you've used location, you will get wakelocks

Currently I'm using the Map addon for Llama. Previously on another ROM I hadn't tried it and wasn't getting this issue. Will remove the addon and post results tomorrow.
Thanks for the help.
Regards,
John
Yeah because llama needs to check if you're in a location so uses location services (nlp) to do so.

There are usually better ways to go about doing what you want to do. I use Tasker for it, but I have Tasker profiles run based on time and day. Times when I should be at work, Tasker checks if I'm connected to the home wifi. If I am not, then it does all the things. If I am still connected to the home wifi when I should be at work, I must be at home, so the profile aborts.
This profile uses time and wifi connection status to determine my location.
Of course, this may not be possible for your job. But there is usually more than one way to solve a problem.

Seems pretty logical to me. If this doesn't work out I'll find better ways to control the functions.

John
Well seems at work there is no problems with llama wakelocking at all. Obviously the NLP from location based tracking was the problem as you stated. I think tasked would be more appropriate for my usage, so I'll give it a try tonight.

Tasker help

Hello XDA community,
I don't know why my Tasker profile won't run. I am using the when wifi connected turn off keyguard profile. I am also using secure settings to turn off pattern lock. I am rooted. I have been meticulously *following several videos on youtube. The same instruction works on my brother's phone. *
As well as this profile. when near scanned cell towers turn on wifi. Exit task, turn off wifi when not near. It doesn't work.
Also, the profiles don't light up green. In the notifications, it says no profiles active.* Any guidance on this matter will be great.

Try enabling the new cell api within tasker
Hello i have enabled the new cell api but it still requires the password. It still requires me to enter my pattern lock password.

Lollipop Data Toggle Non-Root

Fixed my issue on Note 5. Posting in general just for discussion and if anyone had questions.
Saw a bunch of people with issues using widgets to toggle mobile data in lollipop as well as any automation apps.
I put a small app that acts as a widget and emulates you clicking to save you the trouble. Under Venture Alpha J&A.
Put together using Autoinput and requires it to run. Made it to fix my issue with Tasker not being able to turn my data off automatically when I'm wifi range. If anyone wants it... its a $1.42 cause Google gets 30%... link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.venturealpha.datatoggle
Only tested on the new Samsungs but should work on devices running lollipop.
If you don't want to do the $1.42 you can put it together with Tasker and autoinput and make a profile for it to resume the less clicks for data toggle.

So far all the apps that I have tried to do that on verizon won't go to the lesser network speeds UNLESS the other is unavailable. Or else I would be in 3g unless downloading for battery life
My app works off the capabilities the phone already had settings for.

Any way to get data connection to auto on/off?

Still stock. Have wifi on/off in smart settings per location but I still need to manually turn data connection on/off which defeats the purpose of having smart wifi settings. Anyone know?
Root first for best result !

This work nice on Android 4.4.2. and maybe 99% above. Work perfect with root, not sure without and new Android. Auto 3G for root type "Root LG G5 (HighONAndroid lgg5root.com)" . Work perfectly for me !

use the app called - Llama location profiler. great app.
Thanks, although I don't like how it's constantly checking your position in the background even if you don't need it to.
