I am new to using Tasker and am using it on my Nexus 5. For those Nexus 5 users who are using Tasker, are you having any problems? Do you know if Tasker has been updated to fully work with 4.4? I have checked Tasker's wiki and the last update for 4.0+ is/was 6/17/2013.
Basically what I am getting at, as I am building profiles/tasks, I am trying to determine if/when my profile/task does not work, it is me or is it Tasker not being updated?
I have searched the Nexus 5 Themes and Apps forum here and did not see much mention regarding Tasker. I am posting here rather that Q&A as Tasker is an app.
I appreciate your help.

Only issue I've run into so far is with the Secure Settings plug in not toggling gps on one of my profiles. Other than that all my other profiles work without issue.

I also have issues with Secure Settings, but that's because Secure Settings hasn't been properly updated I believe.
All my profiles work with Tasker. I had to change some of the complicated ones to reference different directory paths but otherwise fine. Secure Settings profile is working too, but thats to turn off pattern lock....

Turning off pattern lock (I assume is the same as lock screen) is the problem I am having trying to get it to work.

I use Widgetlocker as my main lock screen. When I am not at home, I want the Android stock pattern lock behind it. When I am at home (triggered by WiFi connection) I want it off.
Pattern lock and lock screen are not the same. Pattern lock has it's own specific setting within Secure Settings.
If you want to disable the basic lock screen go to Display/Keyguard and set it to off.

Yes...I want to disable the basic lock screen. I did go to Display/Keyguard and set it to off for the task. I also set the exit task to on. I will try it out again when I get home.
Still trying to find a way for tasker to toggle LTE... secure settings lte toggle plugin only works on cm based roms..

Keylock off works fine for me.
Tasker works perfect for me so far. Also, no issues on Secure Settings. At least for the functions I use it for.
My last Tasker creation was using my old Nexus 4 as a motion camera/IP camera. Whenever I connect to my wifi it disables the camera, Once I leave it turns it on.
Gets pretty creepy when you get false positives and it takes pictures of nothing though
I am having significant problems with Tasker on the N5. I am not able to set profiles by using the cell near state. Whenever I scan for towers when I'm on LTE it returns no results. If I put my phone on 3G, then it finds towers.
This was never a problem on my EVO LTE. I think it has to do with Sprint upgrading towers to Network Vision and this being a triband phone.

I have Tasker set to turn on my wifi when I get in range of my house. Since the N5 has LTE, tasker can't seem to get the cell location thing figured out. It must be different than 3g/edge. I had to set it up to remember cell towers instead.

Cannot get tasker/secure settings to toggle the GPS.
Else, my profiles seem to be working as expected.
Use the secure settings alternative helper to toggle GPS/location settings.

^^^^^THIS^^^^^ I made this mistake earlier. It is not enough to just have the Helper installed. You also must have the Alternative Helper checked. All is good now. No gps unless Maps is loaded =) =) =).

I think tasker has a problem with the triangulation on the LTE network. Anyway...I created a new state, hit phone, then "cell near". Hit the "scan" button and walk around your house so it can pick up the 2 or 3 towers. I then just used the newly created "state" to determine when I was close to my house.

If you read my initial comment, you would have seen that this is exactly what I'm having trouble with. It works on 3G but DOESN'T work on LTE.

That is what worked for me and it find several towers by my house on LTE. I am on T-Mobile, so that may make a difference.

It can disable WiFi, Cellular Data (2G, 3G, LTE)*, Cellular radio*, Bluetooth, and Location* (networks and GPS) after a certain time with the screen off to conserve battery power and lower data usage. Some options explained:
Disable Wi-Fi/Data/Network mode except if active - Connections are only disabled if there is negligible data transfer while the screen is off. Some music services don't "stream" but instead download entire songs at once, and they might do this while the screen is still on. Please set the disable time interval to at least the length of your average song so LD can catch data activity while the screen is off or use the except if "Except if apps running" option.
Disable Wi-Fi except if browser has web login - WiFi is not disabled if it requires a browser login (common for public hotspots or guest networks), so that you do not have to re-enter the password when it is re-enabled.

Nice work. It works as it is supposed to. Is there any way i can check using terminal(or anything else) how long the radios are turned off or on?

You mean so that you can tell how long they were turned off for? Good question, there's gotta be some app that can pull up those statistics. For WiFi, you can check your battery usage chart.

Suggestions:
1. When im playing few multiplayer games like Heroes of Order and Chaos etc, i usually tend to leave my phone aside for one or two min, so with my current setup where the radios are turned off after one min, the internet might get disconnected hence me loosing the game. So if there is a feature which can check if there is data transfer then dont turn off the radios. Same goes with me downloading some files and the radios might turn off causing the download to fail. - I guess it is answered in the description, my mistake
2. Where it says turn on radios to sync/receive after a specific time period, is thee way to only switch on the 2g network to save more juice?
Questions:
1. When the radios are turned on after the specific time period to sync, do all the radios get turned on?
2. Does it already check if there is data transfer and then turn off the radios ?

1. While the screen is on, the connections are never turned off. The time "after" is time after screen off (explained in help dialog or on Play Store).
2) No, there is currently no option to do that. I wouldn't recommend it either. 2G/Edge is so slow it wouldn't even be able to connect and do anything in the brief time it has to sync.

Thats strange, i noticed yesterday when my phone was connected to the charger it turned off radios. Maybe something to do with my new ROM that i flashed. Will check it today in the night. Thanks for your response
Yes, but LeandData stop traffic also if tethering is on. In this case every time you have to switch on 3g again and reconnect your notebook.

Yes, please check for me as this could potentially be a bug. What did it turn off? It should not turn anything off if the device is charging. Also, if you connect a charger after the app has already turned off connections, it should turn them back on. Please ensure you haven't left any other similar apps running. The WiFi turning off with the screen off could also be a system option.
If you do indeed find a problem please let me know what Android version you are running. You can also check the Logcat if you filter for LeanData. Tell me what you see around the time of the problem.

I see. How are you tethering? USB or Bluetooth? If you are tethering through USB the device should be considered charging in which case it should not turn off the connections anyway. I will look into Bluetooth tethering.

As expected, i cleaned up everything on my device and flashed a new build. Installed LeanData and used the same settings, all working fine. Radios get turned on when plugged into the charger. Thanks for your time, quick response and efforts
To be honest, i have used many similar apps and never got this almost perfect feeling for any app

MIUI rom have a application to monitor intenet connect of all application. it's great and I cannot find other app can do like this on Playstore. Bcs many app ask permission connect network althought they are no need to run. But I guest they need permission connect network to sending some information silently.

Only the paid version of dsbatterysaver includes GPS. Right now, I have tasker turn it on and off with the screen when unplugged but that means no syncing of location using GPS.
For past few weeks, the Wi-Fi & Data in my rooted LG L90 with Kitkat 4.4.2 gets automatically enabled. Earlier, when I disable these it stays disabled till I go and enable it.
I tried to restrict background data, turned off my Wi-Fi router at home, for data I created a new Access point in Mobile network and disabled auto sync, nothing worked.
I even tried applications like AutoData and others and these were of no use.
Please help me to disable Wi-Fi and Data permanently and it should be turned on only when I enable it.

Most likely you have an underlying app installed that wants to use WFi and phone data whenever it wants.
Go ahead and grab avast! Antivirus. This app allows you to control what apps use the Internet and when, as well as other features. Try disabling WiFi/data on each of the apps you've installed, and I can guarantee a 98.5% chance that this will solve your problem.

Installed Avast Anti Virus and through its Firewall settings, I was able to disable WiFi & Data to some extent. This is far better than my previous situation. Thanks for your help.
Maybe you can use Tasker to further curb this behaviour.
I cannot have a location fix when i am in ''Battery saving mode'' in "Settings" "Location" and Cellular data is ON , Wi-Fi and GPS is turned off. If i turn on Wi-Fi my location can be determined and i have a fix.
It must be a problem with my phone, when i swap my simcard into my other phone a Samsung Galaxy Advance with Jelly Bean all functions are normal and having a location fix using cellular networks only.
Anyone having this issue also ?
I am on stock Rom 5.0 Lollipop rooted with cf-root.
Do a quick search of what battery savings mode is and you'll have your answer.

I am not sure what you mean exactly, i am trying to get a location fix without using GPS.
''Battery saving'' means "Use WI-Fi and cellular networks to determine location" and i am not getting a fix ever using this option when Wi-Fi and GPS is turned off.
When i try to get my location in Google Maps where i am at that moment it will only show my last accurate Wi-Fi location.

As you know in lollipop this fall back to data feature exists if the wifi connection has no internet(officially called "WI-FI to Cellular handover").
Has anyone investigated how does the system check for internet connection on wifi? It must ping something on the outside world.
Whats more important is there a way to disable this feature so that the system behaves like in kitkat?

It pings Google's servers.
I don't understand why google hasn't offered a switch(on-off) for this. I can imagine some situations where this is quite bad. Imagine you have a small data plan and you use wifi to download stuff and suddenly wifi stops reaching the internet so the connection falls back to data and all your data plan is vanished in just a few minutes.
There must be a switch for disabling this feature.

I always did it since GB so no big deal to me I guess lol, could be annoying for others.

It is some time later but I have a particularly annoying issue with this, nothing to do with data volumes. I used to really like the feature but recently I have had to use gconnect on an internal network to sign in, by the time I have signed on the network is on 4g and he request doesn't go through. Annoyingly now I need to disconnect mobile data in order to login to my companies wifi.
Just a little inconvenient. I dont suppose anyone has a better solution?
