Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
Android 7.0
Google App v6.10.37.21
Google App > Settings > Voice > '"Ok Google" detection' > 'From any screen'
This brings up the "Search by voice from any screen" setup wizard.
As soon as I tap "Get started", I see a message stating: "Can't use the microphone. Restart your device."
Restarting does not help.
This also happened in Android 6.x, before I upgraded to Android 7.0.
I can record my voice in Samsung's Voice Memos app without any issues.
Google App has all permissions (including Microphone) enabled.
Any ideas?

So, I noticed an odd behavior with Google Now. If I have Bluetooth on and it's connected to my Moto T505 car speaker, when I go to use Google Now (or Voice Search) it keeps saying initializing. It does not do this if Bluetooth is on but not connected. It also does not seem to do it with my Moto S305 headset.
Has anyone else seen this?

Google Now works fine on bluetooth.
1. Hit Menu
2. Settings
3. Sound
4. Select "touch sounds"
5. Google now works with bluetooth.
I have a bluetooth radio adapter hooked to my car. when I hold down the "call" button instead of opening google now, it opens S voice. is there anyway to change that?

I have this same issue with my Sony Xplode and my note 2
however if i back out of google now and back in it will work.
It hangs on "initializing" the first time. This also happened with my Galaxy nexus.
If someone finds a fix that would be sweet!

Thanks for this find. Now my i535 works with my bluetooth headset and I couldn't be happier and thanks to Home2 shortcut I got rid of that terrible slow S Voice, and am using Google Now and Utter! as my two go-to modules.

Great, I get to finally use smart voice commands via Bluetooth with this phone . . . and it requires that I first enable one of the most annoying user interface options available.
Decisions, decisions . . .

Solved!
Still no fix coming from Google, but at least one nice guy made a temp fix while they do it.
Look for "Voice Command" app on Google Play. Developer's name is IT-DEV-CROWD or code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42178#c37
It worked for me, after trying a lot of different configurations.
Hi there,
I am from China and before getting my nexus 5 I owned a galaxy nexus, in which Google now works well just when phone is switched into En-US.
Now for nexus 5 this does not work.
someone uses a AT&T SIM card to enable google now.
some turns the phone into airplane model, turns off location and connects to VPN network to enable it.
Some says "Ok Google" then follow the instructions to enable it.
It seems that all these does not work for me, is there a easy way to enable Google now.
Regards

What worked for you? I had to uninstall Google search with titanium backup, install Google search 2.6, enable google now, then update to the latest version of search to have google now enabled in China. This is kind of annoying though as you can't flash otas if you do this because it modifies some system files. If you do my method you'll have to reflash the system image to update manually. So I'm wondering if you could share your method here.
Thanks!
sorry, I forgot posting, I just did the same as you did.

For those who are still interested i am also in China ,and man it gave me a hard time but worked finally.
1-you need a proxy(Fqrouter or GAE)
2-install Market Unlocker
3-run Market Unlocker and select Enable Unlocker and Auto Unlock(You should already be connected to another market)
4-If you dont have Google Experience Launcher, then install it
5-Clear data of Google Search app and Play Store
6-Long press on the screen until the settings toggle of the laucher appears
7-Select settings
8-By now you should be able to activate Google Now.Done
I hope this has been helpful.Cheers

Confirmed this worked for me on my XT1085 China Moto X (2014) running 5.0.2.
n c
I have updated my XT1033 to Lollipop Brazil OTA. However, I cannot get my Okay Google detection work anywhere including Google Now,
Wonder anyone has the same problem.
Cheers,
Go to:
Google Settings App -> Search & Now -> "Ok Google" Detection
Check whether all 3 (or atleast first) toggles are ON.
If yes, then click on "Retrain Voice Model", (it will then tell you to say Ok Google 3 times).
This is not the problem. I have set everything on. When I train the voice, it just doesn't respond no matter how many times I say OK Google
I have factory reset my nexus 5 in an effort to improve battery life, however I have now run into an issue with my moto 360. I can no longer use my 360 to make my phone ring/text contacts. There no longer seems to be an option in Google now settings: accounts and privacy to enable contact recognition.
When using voice commands on my phone alone there is no issue with it ringing contacts I ask it to. I have tried enabling OK Google detection when when the screen is off.
Any suggestions? Has anyone found a work around for this?

This feature is on by default.
Sorry but it isn't. See:
https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/4367425
It is not an option on my nexus 5 since factory resetting, and means that I can't instigate voice calls using my moto 360.

Are you thinking that Google is as fast as we are.. You are wrong my friend.
Fair enough, any ideas why my phone won't recognise any commands from my moto 360 to ring contacts etc... then? All I get is a message on my moto 360 to "try again on my phone" which appears after the 360 finds the right contact and the right number and tries to ring.

Hello,
My phone: Huawei Mate 8 Software: L29C432B560, and is rooted.
Strava is configured for not closing when screen is blocked (Settings/Battery). However, it is closed anytime by the operative system when I am recording a route.
Has anyone a solution for that issue?
Thanks in advance.

Strava is already configured "Allow". I'm sorry, I had forgotten to indicate it.
Today, I went on 65km bike tour with Strava engaged. All battery optimisations were off + Strava was "locked" in recent apps menu. Strava crashed with no explanation anywhere...
I'm using EMUI 5.0 on Huawei Mate 9.
This confirms other posts all over Internet which say: if you are into sport don't buy any Huawei
The last thing I've tried: Faster GPS locking on your rooted Android device.
http://www.techrepublic.com/article/faster-gps-locking-on-your-rooted-android-device/
I'm followed the steps, it really faster GPS locking, but it keeps crashing Strava in the middle of recording a route...
I feel desperate for this situation...
What more could I try?
I would also want to know. Having similar problems with my Honor 8...
