Extreme Bloatware Remowal

Hi guys, i know this has been done before, what elements of a stock ROM can be removed safely...
I aways used stock debloated ROMs, done by hand w Titanium Backup, after the latest 4.0.4 update i did the same thing.
First time i loaded TB i believe it read 207 elements, i deleted everything i dont use, and i know it not mess up my phone... at the end, after many weeks of freezing/deleting 1-2 elements at a time (so i can determime what i delete wont cause any problems) i was left with only 41 elements! 165+ frozen/deleted !!!
First of all, before you start anything, back up your ROM with CWM or TB.
Second, use your brain and common sence... if you use Swype, dont uninstall it etc... i dont so i removed it...
BEFORE YOU FREEZE/DELETE ANYTHING, MAKE SURE IS A SERVICE YOU DO NOT USE, CLICK ON EVERY ELEMENT YOU ARE PLANNING TO DISABLE, THEN CLICK ON ITS NAME IN THAT WINDOW THAT POPS UP, AND LOOK AT THE APP NAME OF THAT ELEMENT, MOST OF THE TIME THAT WILL GIVE YOU MUCH BETTER IDIA OF WHAT SERVICE IS CONNECTED TO.
For example, i do not synch my google calendar, thefore i dont need that element, so i deleted "GoogleCalendaySynch" app element, but probably most of you do...
What i am trying to say is, do not blindly go and delete everything i have removed, some thing you might use will stop working.
Besides that, its a absolutely fully functional ROM with minimal bloatware, exeptional battery life, very fast boot and small footprint as a CWM backup file.
Below you see Screenshots of 5 pages Titanium Backup of what i have left on my ROM, and i want to insure you, it works just fine, but is very snappy, loads much quicker on phone startup, and a CWM backup is only 382MB
Battery life is very much improved, as you can see in the screenshot after the original post, i charged my phone, unplugged it, and went to sleep, phone was in service, absolutely normal state, only lost 4% overnight in 8 hrs! that is 0.5% per hour... i dont think there is a possible lower overnight drain that can be achieved when the phone is still in servise...

Upon deleteing all of T-Mobile bloatware/spyware you will be pleasently supprised that the native "Mobile Hotspot" tethering app works! (I am on the $70 unlimithed 4G plan that doesnt alow tethering btw) Works just fine as you were on a unlocked Nexus device etc.

Extremely useful post using it to debloat my gfs blaze and even my skyrocket

Dumb question as I'm kinda a novice, what are the basic steps to debloat my Blaze? I'd LOVE to prune out the extra crap... thanks!

One step is to look for an already debloated custom rom...

I had an issue with custom ROM on my Exhibit 4G whereby the Tmobile TV would no longer authenticate. I'd rather just trim out junk from an otherwise stock rom to avoid that problem again...

just root your phone, then get Titanium Backup from the Play Store, use it do delete each app you dont want while keeping the essentials as shown in the Original Post Screenshots.

Thanks but I think rooting my Exhibit was what caused Tmo TV not to authenticate... anyone see this? If I root but keep stock ROM and prune it, will the same problem happen again? BTW I'm liking the Blaze

I think I will give this a try as I hate bloatware! What is the best way to root the Blaze, is there an easy app or utility a novice could use to root it with?

Is been 3 month since my OP, for the last few weeks i removed another 6-7 elements off, so i downed it to only 47 out of the initial about 210 the ROM comes bloated with !!!
Everything works just fine.

Deleted 4 more elements lol i think ive reached the bare minimum now at 43
Been running it for a couple a days no problem whatsoever, deleted the "Network location" it does just fine w GPS and i almost never ever use location anyway, deleted "Serial number read/write" and "Service Mode" tried entering Odin mode, nonproblem, isnt needed...
Updated the OP w fresh SS of the Titanium Backup 43 elements left... i think thats it, nothing else that i dont use can be removed.

Yeah man, absolutely, i wouldnt b posting it if it wasnt
Freeze everything and youll see... very fast, no drain of battery etc, i lot of those things run in the backgrownd even if they arent turn on and you are not using them, like the "Network Location"
you can delete a lot of more elements if you dont use em at all, like the "calculator" "calendar", "music player", "video player", the "divx codec", "folder explorer" etc... i use all those things tho...
anyway, you wont see it anywhere trimmed so much, as atleast 15-20 of the elements i deleted, if not even more, if you read in other threads they are marked as "do not freeze/delete"...
I guess someone has to try it first, they r not needed, everything works just fine.

Updated the second post in the Thread with a screenshot of my overnight battery drain...
I do not think there could be a better one, only 4% in 8 hours while i was sleeping... 0.5% per hour.
I just charged my phone to 100% and unplugged it before i went to sleep, phone was in service, as you can see from the SS i even got some txts and emails overninght, just normal phone standby...

Deleted those 2 otherwise very important looking elements too, without absolutely no effect on my phone:
Ran it with them frozen for a couple a days, then deleted them, ran without em for mybe close to a week now, no effect on the phone whatsoever...
If you click on them and read the app names otherwise they look needed...
I was looking for the lowest possible elements in a stock ROM, and now i think that is it, there is nothing else left from the Android/Samsung system that can be eliminated...

i9070 running CyanogenMod 11 with six-day battery life!

I got a used i9070 last week that was still running Android 2.3. After updating it to the official 4.1.2 ROM and then installing the latest CyanogenMod 11 build by NovaFusion team and customizing it, my Samsung S II Lite / Samsung S Advance battery life lasted more than six days without charging it !
The screenshots look dark because the brightness level is set to low and use Twilight, but it looks good on the screen of the device.

After taking this screenshot, I decided to finally charge it. Here are my home and about screens:

Xposed Installer
I keep all synchronization services turned off when I'm not using it. Intelli3G is set to also automatically change the network mode to 2G when mobile data is off. This makes it use a lot less battery than the default 3G mode.
I've also found out that Google Play Services kept wasting my battery even when data and Wifi connections were turned off, so I used the built-in CyanogenMod Privacy Guard app to prevent it from waking the device up.
I've also turned off some animations with the Android developer options, and it feels very fast to use. It's charging relatively quickly too.

SS you attached don't make any sense bcz there isn't any app you used ! battery life doesn't depend on how many app u installed it depends on how may you actually used !!
plus you even turned off play services so how come one can get notifications depends on it ?!
so put SS of SOT & give proof of you used phone in that 6 day bcz Novafusion is king of lies
bcz one can charge phone and put it aside for 2 weeks also, it may be still on but it don't mean that rom battery backup is good

@jineshpatel30 Not even the most expensive phones would last so much if you actually spent a lot of time touching it. The phone was mostly just connected to the cellular network to receive calls and messages (I'm using it as my main phone and take it everywhere), and the list of apps I posted show what I used to customize it, not everything that is on it. Hence the word relevant.
The point of this thread is that the battery would normally be wasted in a normal install even inside your hypothetical box, and I solved this by automatically disabling everything but the cell signal when I'm not looking at the screen. As for Google Play notifications, I don't need any of them except the calendar one, and I can easily synchornize it in 5 seconds.
When I get a data plan, I'm going to browse maps and some sites daily too, and AdAway and AFWall+ will help me save a lot of battery in relation to a standard install. Even if you use yours to do a lot of things every day, you can gain some battery life by using Intelli3G too.

N also if one wants to sync manually and check all notification by opening apps every time (regarding disabling play service) then i think he shouldn't even buy smart phone !
Whenever you ready to USE yr phone (atleast daily moderate use) check yr battery ...i bet you won't get more than 1.5Hr SOT with 6hr up time

You keep ignoring the fact that my tips contain things useful for all kinds of users, like automatically changing the network to 2G when you aren't using your data plan. If you prefer to drain your battery as much as you can, just ignore this thread. I don't see the point of coming here just to attack me and the used phone I got as gift.

1st of all i'm not trolling.
I'm telling the facts that if you bought a phone atleast you need to let it do some basic things automatically...putting all things manual and blocking necessary apps doesn't make any sense to improve battery life bcz you can charge phone atleast once a day without much trouble.
And if you are telling about improvement with battery life your thread should be "improve battery life with xxx app" not like "6 day battery on CM11" bcz changes you made (blocking) and apps you are using are not specific to any rom.
And inteli3G is very popular app so most of xda members already knew about that. And personally i noticed that it use more battery than you could save by using it IF YOU USE YOUR DATA PLAN EVERY NOW AND THEN (it may be useful if you rarely ise data plan)
So my point is if you make new thread then make it proper..
1st you said 6day battery on CM11 with device you barely used
Then you are saying i'm taking about my configuration ( blocking play service n sync) which normal user can't do
And now about app which can work in any rom !
So be clear what you are telling to ppl and give appropriate name to thread...this will help to to spread right info to more users.

Nougat Beta Thoughts & Issues

The other Beta thread is a little crazy with everything, and there is not much regarding the title of this thread any way.
Anyway, so far, I REALLY dig 7! I love the changes to the UI and such, and where Samsung went with it overall. I haven't seen stock 7.0/7.1, so I cannot say how close to stock they kept it, but I hear it's even closer than before. That, I think it awesome.
Everything seems snappier, and the way things open and close is pretty slick. The new color scheme is nice too. A LOT less 4 year old than I've come to expect from Android lately.
Battery life for me is pretty much the same. I'm getting from 4-5am to 10pm with still 40-50% left.
New menus, dropdown, etc. are nice too. The app drawer is SOOOO much better now that you sort it alphabetically once, and it stays that way, instead of every time you install a new app, or one updates, it would put whatever app at the very end.
However, after a couple days of zero issues, I'm starting to have some.
Notifications will not swipe away sometimes. Generally it might take several attempts to swipe away, but sometimes they just won't unless I unlock and do it again. Fairly annoying.
Changing permissions in app manager sometimes causes Settings to force close. Not a big one there since I can change permissions elsewhere.
The cache fills up more quickly and the phone starts to lag after just a couple days. I wipe cache and whatever about once a week and reboot the phone, now I am doing so every 2-3 days it seems. No biggie there, I realize this is beta.
That's it for now. Your turn.

I find the 7.0 beta fast & smooth. Battery life has doubled for me. I used to have to get a charge around 7-8 hours of use. I'm now getting 12 hours between charges.
I like the UI except for the notifications. The large, white background is ugly.
I've noticed that wireless fast charging doesn't always work. Sometimes it says it's charging but when I pick up the phone the battery hasn't charged.

- Settings: Editing up to 9 Settings shortcuts, only shows 8 for me but trying to select another for a 9th errors stating one is already there. It was due to having Battery as a shortcut before, but now in the beta this is under Device Maintenance. Reported as a Bug. EDIT: Clearing cache/data on Settings removes all shortcuts at the top of the Settings app, and you can re-add what you like again, and fixes my issue mentioned above.
- Galaxy Apps Store: Missing, but can access via Galaxy Essentials Widget or Samsung Gear, also reported as Bug.
I would encourage anyone who has registered and taken the beta to file any Bugs or Suggestions in the app Samsung Members. If you flashed the beta with Odin and didn't officially register, you may not see this app and cannot provide feedback. Samsung did reply to both of my above Bug reports, stating that they were aware of them and will fix them in the next beta release. They are looking and reviewing those, so I encourage everyone who's having an issue to report it, be thorough and explain how to reproduce your issue, provide screenshots if applicable.
Don't be that person who just files a Bug or Suggestion with "It's not working FIX NAO" or "Add this feature or I'm never buying Samsung again!!11"...but I cannot stop you if you decide to do that.

Since installing the Beta, I'm quite happy.
1. Faster and smoother performance, does not start to lag
2. Better notifications system
3. Can turn off the hated Bluetooth volume warning/limit
4. Zero issues so far with normal use
Only downside so far is loss of Foxfi tethering.
Only odd issue is that my phone System Update in Settings doesn't recognize that the phone has been updated to the Beta version. Still says I'm on PH1 build from September.

I followed the instructions in the other thread's first post and successfully installed the Beta. Now my phone is randomly restarting every couple of minutes....oh jeeze. Unusable, hoping I can figure out what's wrong, or roll back...
Edit: Maybe related to Samsung bloat I disabled with package disabler? Can't get package disabler to work
Double-Edit: Things seem good after a factory restart.
Feedback : Don't user package disabler with this. Hope this helps someone.

My accessibility settings keep reverting back to off for all programs. Anyone else have this issue? I think it happens after a reboot.

I'm using EZ Disabler and it works fine for me.

For those whos galaxy apps store icon disappeared, I had that too, I think its a bug in the upgrade, because I did a factory reset and the icon came back. All the issues I had went away too. Very Very impressed by this beta.

You had to do full system wipe then it will show the new build. I don't have any issues at all, no foreclosings and stuff

I am having two issues:
1. My accessibility settings get reset each time I reboot my phone.
2. When I click on the gallery icon in the camera app, it says there are no pictures. It's saving all the images as an album. Not sure if this is a setting but I can't locate it.
Does anyone know where to report these issues if we are on the official beta?

Same here. I use LastPass and the app filling service (uses the accessibility framework) gets disabled on each reboot. I reported it to the app maker as well just in case it's an Android 7 framework change and not a beta issue.

I did the update .. once the update was installed .. did a full factory reset.
So far so good .. UI is fluid/smooth .. have had no problems with making or receiving calls, sending and receiving messages (SMS and MMS) .. Applications (which I have a lot of) are doing good with only 1 hiccup and that was with executing Facebook. The application would immediately crash. Now, I also use Messenger and Words with Friends (tied into my Facebook) .. so I tried Words with Friends first, was able to log in using my Facebook credentials no problem. Next, Messenger.. because I used the same credentials with Word with Friends, Messenger automatically logged me in using the same. So since both those worked, I tried Facebook again .. success, didn't need to log in and it when straight to the page.
Only other issue I have noticed .. my WiFi will disconnect spontaneously, even though I'm within 10 feet of it. It would also lose it's credentials (WEP info) .. so I need to re-enter to get connected.

I actually tried this and it said my device wasn't registered and wouldn't allow me to give any feedback. For those that are though, please please use that app to tell Samsung what bugs or issues you come across. Posting them everywhere else won't get them fixed.
Thanks to all who are putting in their input and testing Nougat to its limit. This is a rock solid beta so far.

I like it so far, just wish there was a root.

I'm getting a significant bump in battery life. I attribute it to the improved doze mode in 7.0. The blue light filter is something that is more useful to me than Samsung Pay!

Absolutely love the 7.0 beta so far. Everything is much smoother than marshmallow and the animations are a lot more appealing. You can tell that Samsung didn't intrude very much into the stock 7.0 look.
I'm constantly finding little tweaks that make me go "woah", such as the display resolution customization and in-depth battery saver settings. I also just found out that if you click the wording "Flashlight" in your notification draw it allows you to change the brightness. A small feature but I find it extremely useful.
Other than that I'm just genuinely impressed at the performance boost and battery savings this beta has brought with it.

Been using Material Dark (was already on my phone in marshmallow when i updated).
But based on your post noticed that the screens that appear wheni tap on the words on the pull down don't look right. Do they look OK for you?

I made the title as self descriptive as possible. Im a huge anonimity nerd and i debloated my android to my style (Samsung Galaxy A32 5g) since there was no compatibility for Lineage or /e/OS in it. In doing so, i retain pretty much all i want, however one of the weird functions that doens't work as well as it used to is the GPS. I'm pretty sure what i did was disable an APK that uses the phone reception to track location, since when i enable GPS i can still get my location with amazing accuracy, however it takes several minutes (and i mean SEVERAL) after being turned on to track where i am, and in other apps it does not track at all.
The issue is that im an Uber Eats worker (not exactly, but similar style of work) and resetting the phone to factory would mean to debloat all over again.
So, does anyone knows more or less which APKs specifically interact between location and other apps to know which one to enable again?

Might be easier if you listed what you removed.

The issue is that i've removed quite a number of things across several days and didn't realize that my GPS wasn't working snap-fast as it was before very much late.

Off the top of my head I no clue which apk(s) do that. The apk names can be misleading.
Many of the smaller apks just sit there unless needed.
Especially on Samsung's you can really screw up functionality by disabling blindly, worse it may net near zero performance/increased battery life.
One reason I use a package disabler is mistakes are easy to correct when experimenting with minimum consequences.
Someone here likely does know so keep trying. If that model has it's own section on XDA, post a thread there.
It may be one of these although likely not the last one...

Afraid it didn't made a difference. Another weird issue i got however i think this is more of my android config is that after a while with the phone locked whatsapp closes and im not being sent any notifications until i unlock it and open it again. Do you suspect of any apk that need to be on to run the app or what setting could have messed that? I set the phone to never optimize battery and to not turn off data when locked and to not restrict it on whatsapp yet i still randomly open it to find several messages from hours ago that i never got notified for.

Ditch WhatsApp; trashware/malware.
Reload and start from the beginning.

God i wish i could delete whatsapp but i live in one of those countries where everyone and everything uses it.
As for reloading from the start, i've been thinking about it, but it took so much to delete so much bloat that i'd rather first try and see what i could salvage. After all, all the apks that i removed are still existing in the ROM as installers.

Reload, and use this this to at least set it up and determine what's safe to debloat.
If you disabled more than 90 apps, you probably killed more than is needed...

Oh, dont worry, i use ADB, although next time i should probably keep in a list what i uninstalled.

Problem being Samsung's are feature packed and many are useful. After 2 years I'm still exploring my N10+.
If you inadvertently kill a parent app all it's children dependencies go nuts. Some apps serve more functions than you'll ever find listed.
With no way to easily renable them... you have no hope of easily discovering them.
To this day I still update and modify my bloat list to make the device more functional and efficient.
Be careful what you kill... especially if you haven't used Samsung's extensively. I have 2 N10+'s, one running on 9, the other 10. The Q variant literally has dozens of small system apks than the P variant. Both devices behave almost identically. These dozens of small apks allow this. They use almost no resources or battery.
The Q variants battery life is the same or better.
Blocking these apks would serve no purpose and likely screw up the newer N10+. It has about 150 more new packages in the Q variant than the P. I used my imported block list from the AT&T P variant for the non carrier Q variant. I took out a few new ones that were bloatware but the disable head count remains similar between both devices.
So don't go too nuts as Samsung has added many new system apks to tone down and make Android 10 and up UI usable, look nice and prevent lose of functionality

Gotcha, although i've always been one for simplicity and all, to be honest i kinda wish i could just grab a barebones android OS for my phone and modify it from there.

Depending on the model and how much support there is, you can, but it's going to be a time eating gravity well.
It's a lot easier to use stock Samsung's and configure them to suit your needs. Samsung probably has the best launcher out there at least on the N10+.

Been a bad year for phones and Android.
I spent a -lot- of time dialing in my N10+, but once done it runs great. You need to find the solutions and use work arounds when needed.
Stock Androids are almost impossible to crash. So... play with it.
Just make sure all critical data is redundantly backed up to at least 2 hhds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC. Do this or eventually you will lose data.

Question Non Rooted Pixel 7 Pro

Okay Ive had some time using this phone and came to a conclusion, I don't need root on this phone.
Now of course root gives us the power but I have found some applications and a few workarounds to get the best overall performance on this Pixel 7 Pro.
1.Shizuku apk.
This app is sorta like a su app with of course no system level privileges.
(I use this app for ,Better Internet Tiles,
Carrier Vanity Name and Dar Q ..)
2.Package Disabler apk.
This app can debloat most apps.
3.System UI Turner apk.
This app can enable and disable hidden features within the ROM.
4. My new favorite non rooted app that can lock the CPU frequencies.
Max All CPU (non root) apk.
This app actually works which shocked me.!!
5.Adguard apk.
So basically having a pixel device has been the same experience as my rooted devices running pixel experience roms.
Of course better screen (AMOLED) wireless charging and IP68 rating etc...
In a nut shell one can enjoy this device without root.
Please list applications or adb commands or anything that can improve the overall performance of the pixel without root..

What you're asking is nearly impossible. You can disable some apps, but installing more will just slow down your device. There are no ADB commands that will "improve performance" either.

Please list applications or adb commands or anything that can improve the overall performance of the pixel without root..

I can't speak to ADB commands (I doubt there's any, i figure OP's asking for "special commands" that gain some special access to change a particular setting), I think what OP is going for is methods/apps like Greenify -- which is debatable because, as I understand it, Android OS does a whole caching or keeping apps in a low background state as to not use up more power & resources to start them back up again; I only ever seen it discussed when users discuss the merits of "closing all apps" (also discussed on iphones) and/or how it is different than "closing programs" in Windows (this might've been a different case on older versions of Android [as I recall finding it necessary to do such methods on my Motorola Droids {1,3,4}])...
But agreed, without root access, what can be done is so limiting that it's hardly going to make a noticeable difference. if anything, one must trust Android OS developers that they're making the most out of resources ("under the hood") and not wasting them...

I've noticed less battery drain when i uninstalled google calander,vzw.apn.lib, digital wellbeing, YouTube music, Gmail, and few others..

Of course, when u disable more app, more battery gain. But then, what do u use your phone for? (Uninstall calendar, Gmail?)

i used the browser to check my emails and the preinstalled google calendar requires a sign in just to see the calendar month i don't like that i use another calendar app..

4ADatabase setedit mod that has my pixel 7 pro flying and with no overheating.
Running this mod on android 14 beta 3.1..
I saw this mod in a thread somewhere that works without root just the app.
My cpu clock speeds are now stable and don't fluctuate like I'm used to on a rooted phone that i would max out my cores for best performance

..I need all my banking apps , hold for me and all stock pixel exclusives...

I really appreciate your informations. Anyway the way you tell everbody "you dont need root" is patronizing. People root for many reasons. And its a lot easier to play around with mods if you have root. I never had problems with root since the first Android Phone.

No noticeable difference.. I spent 3 hours on calls, took some video shots, watched about 1 hour of YouTube, used Android Auto and maps while driving down the coast for about an hour.
Came home about 6 hours later still had %65 left in the can.... Battery life has always been good even on A13..

I guess one only reads and gravitates to one subject.
I've been rooting, building, baking roms ,flashing etc..since 2009.. This phone is the only phone that I've owned that I've never rooted ..I repeat 14 years of android modding and this phone makes me not want to root it ..
Why does that bother you?

Lastly, Those of us who are enlighten know something.
Ill throw one bone for your everyone roots for various reasons post

And yes this is highly subjective and just like your tips about not rooting you maybe take a thing out of my critics.

You should put a tutorial together for the devices that are bootloader locked or just do not want to root. Good information here

Enabled (VONR ) Voice Over New Radio=5G
I've read many pixel users say that phone reception is not that good.
Being on Verizon wireless towers i have no dropped calls and calls are super clear with the clear calling option enabled in settings.
This app( pixelIMS.apk ) enables VOLTE, VONR,apn option to add can be enabled although its blocked on spectrum so i still cant edit my apns..and a few other features.
Give credits to the developer of this app on GitHub..
App requires shikuku or root..

NFC works on Beta 14 _3.1
Tested it on a train and made a google pay purchase at the store. Even worked with my bulky case on.
