Bounty for HiFi Audio focused Rom that fully utilizes saber dac? - LG V20 Guides, News, & Discussion

Im down to throw $10 to $20 via paypal, at a dev or group of devs who can put together a rom that can fully exploit the saber dac.
Selectable gain
Selectable upsampling
Selectable frequency output
And various other audiophile tweaks.

Would definitely be all for this.

Instead of putting up a bounty just root and flash viper4android you'll mimick the sound of the quad DAC and even better than the quad DAC. These bounties are plain pointless, I keep seeing these in the questions & guides category of the v20 section now the development... Where the mods at?

I wish people would realize Viper4Android is just an advanced System-wide EQ. It doesn't just magically increase audio quality, it changes how it sounds not makes it better. In fact in some cases Viper can actually make the audio quality worse when it's used incorrectly...

Check out xperience real audio mod

No doo doo eq for me. I just want to get full use out of what I paid for.

You will never get what you paid for for this phone. Not worth the retail price. This is a mid flagship device in my opinion. I should have stayed with my note 4.

Android device as a PMP?

Anyone got a suggestion on some good android phones I could look up ebay/craigslist to use as a PMP?
My budget is $100 or so, and I realize I won't get top of the line, but used is fine.
A used Optimus One on various prepaids seems to go for $40-$50, so I'm hoping for something that has a tad better spec.
Pick up a used vibrant and enjoy awesome sound quality with a voodoo sound kernel.. Can be bought for like 125 if you catch a deal.

There's a Samsung Galaxy media player...but it's a bit pricier.
Does it have to be a phone?
Why not just buy a PMP? Where's the necessity that it be Android?
If you looked hard enough, you could probably find a Philips for that price, especially if you're willing to buy used.
But my thoughts are, well, if it doesn't need phoning capabilities, you could probably get more GB for your buck.

You would think, but it's not true. Most MP3 players in the $50 dollar range suck.
Also the galaxy players are, as you saw - pricey. I'm looking for something cheap.
And I want it to be an android because I have a galaxy nexus, so I own paid apps that I could use on it as well.
I found a galaxy S for $65 on craigslist, seems like a pretty good deal as long the phone isn't in terrible condition.

Sounds like you could just use your Nex, but instead you'll then be carrying around a lot of extra functionality (carrying a Nexus around to be used as a phone/surfer and another Andy as a PMP), but I'm not one to judge. To each his own. If it were me, I'd buy another battery for the Nex and use the sh*t out of that! The PPI-count on that thing is sensational!!
An HTC HD2 may be just the device for you, but scoring one for a C-note will be a challange, I'd bet. Hack Android onto it, and BAAAAMMM!!
don't get htc, the audio sucks, even on beats models
(sucks in a comparative sense, not subjective)

Yes I realize my Nexus is more than capable
I'm looking for a cheap alternative mostly because I will be abusing it more and I want to keep my expensive phone pristine.

The sound on the HD2 sucks. Even with decent headphones. It's not bad over BT stereo, though, considering how bad BT stereo is to begin with. I'm not really an Apple fan, but the iPod Classics have a tremendous sound and enormous capacity. I use a 160GB iPod to tote around a chunk of my collection. The built in EQ is pretty handy as well. You can pick them up used for less than $100 also.
Well I picked up a bootlooping galaxy S for $40. Hopefully I can get it working
The stock recovery was corrupted so the volume keys weren't working.
Oh yeh, got me a working galaxy S! Sure beats any $40 PMP out there!

(Q) Which is the best Music Player for our Trannies?

Got prompted to post this due to a line in one of the threads read recently.
"winamp is a battery hog"
So which one suits your needs?
To my way of thinking it is a "must" that is can read music and album art from the MicroSD
As nothing worst then having to reload music each time you flash a new rom. Plus not be a batt hog.
Personally at the moment I am using winamp pro, as I have been using it on the desktop for years
And old habits die hard..
But I do like the carousel of Google Music app. But I am finding it didn't play nice with the MicroSD pickup, and in that
It will only show a few albums.
Open to suggestions and comments on what others use.
So I hand the floor to other users to let us know their preferences.

My friend's music player he developed is pretty good, at least I think it is.
Has a lot of custom features and supported formats.
I use it mostly on my phone but works great on my transformer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gonemad.gmmp
Also on sale for April
I hate being "that guy" but if you do a quick search for "best music player" in this subforum you will find a few older threads discussing this. I think PowerAMP is pretty popular. I personally also like ³ ("cubed") which has pretty cool features. Then there's the N7 player which has a very unique UI. At the end of days it's a matter of preference
FC..
Understand the thought pattern..and search is a good thing.. also I did spend a good 10 mins scrolling back through posts..
but we also have come along way since some of those threads..
What I would like to know from music buffs is how is the batt life now on ICS with the new programs.
And which new ones haven hit the market that are better then a year ago..
So for my own experience. Today I did a road trip, had Winamp playing and teethering for about 6 hours..batt was down to about 44% by the end of it.

+1 i've tried a few but i keep returning to poweramp
EDIT: I am speaking solely from the standpoint of an audiophile.. if you prefer convenience and the ability to modify album art, id3tags, etc. then PowerAmp has proven to be a little better.. PlayerPro is good with the album art too.. possibly better.. imho it's a toss up between those two (PowerAmp and PlayerPro for music organization and customization).. if you only care about the actual music that is playing then Neutron is your friend.. it has professional grade 32-bit audio rendering.. and is really made for high end devices.. our "trannies" (still love that) would certainly meet those criteria..
Neutron MP hands down.. there is literally no comparison.. you might have to tweak it for a while, but it is unbelievable.. I will be in heaven when SuperCurio has Voodoo stable in ICS.. i might switch all of my audio work onto my tablet when Voodoo is ready..
- One man gathers what another man spills...

Isn't Neutron amazing? I love it! It takes a while to get used to, but it is hands down the best player on the market.
As far as PC apps go, I love Foobar2000. It's another app that can take a long time to get used to, but you can do amazing things with it. Head-fi.org has some pretty good info on it as well as setups you can download.
Also, to compliment those apps, you need some good cans. I actually prefer earbuds, but the point is the same. I'm not sure how much money you have, but I will assume that you are like me and you like nice things, but don't necessarily love spending entire paychecks on them. To that end, here's a nice brand not many people know about for headphones - Nuforce (http://www.nuforce.com/hp/reviews-headphones.php). Grab a set of those (V-Moda and Shure are awesome too) and use them with Neutron or Foobar2000. You will hear sounds you never knew existed.
Cheers..
I just use Google's Play Music and stream from the cloud.

It's the best and should get advertised alot more people need to know about it!!
Also on the website it mentions 64-bit real time rendering aswell as the 32 but im guessing this is only for devices with neon???? Would love to have that on the tf but 32 is also great.
I did use Foobar2000 for awhile but the UI I just could not live with. I tried winamp meh wasn't that great then tried Music bee currently im on music bee because I cannot for the life of me find anything that sounds better with a nice UI.
I contemplated J-River and the J-Player plugin but could not justify the price of either.
I currently use a pair of sennheiser headphones and was considering a pair of klipsch headphones but they where to expensive for now.
Just had a look at the NE-700x Nuforce headphones and a couple reviews they seem like an amazing set for the price. Are these the ones you have?
Also there is only one distributor in NewZealand and his website does not show the 700's I will ask if he can import but if not I may have to ask you or someone else if I can send money for them plus shipping just to get them to my country.
EDIT: NZ IS USELESS!!!!!! I spoke to the nz importer who does not stock them
Thanks

I actually got mine from Amazon. I believe they come from NuForce, but Amazon ships them. They came pretty quickly too so I'm guessing Amazon keeps a couple laying around. And yes, I got the NE-700x. From what I hear they are all good though. They have a $25 pair on Amazon that are pretty good too.
Here's the 700x link:
http://www.amazon.com/NuForce-NE-70...NDDG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335582059&sr=8-1
And yeah, Foobar is not the greatest from a UI perspective. I have a bunch of sweet skins for it from deviantart. They actually do wonders for it. I love that player, but when I get a new laptop or new headphones I don't like spending hours tweaking everything so it's just right. There is literally too much you can do with it!
Anyway, good luck with the search and PM me if you need anything...
Cheers..

[Q] LTE or Global One X? Input?

Okay, XDA. I have an important question that I want your input on. I currently own an AT&T HTC One X. I love this phone's design and the features it has but I have been on the fence about acquiring a global version. I could easily sell this device off for about 350-370 USD and then proceed to get the global version, mainly for its quad-core CPU, more storage and the ability to root and unlock it. But I have heard that the older kernel and CPU hurts the battery life compared to the U.S. version. There is also the loss of LTE but that's not much a priority to me. So my question to you is, should I fork out the extra $80 dollars or so for the Global version or hold onto this phone until they acquire a root exploit or s-off? Thanks guys.

you get better build quality and much better audio, music and such with the Evita vs the endeavor.
I flirted with the idea myself and ended up staying with the US model.

Convince me to get an S7

Hey guys,
I kinda want to buy the S7 (since I can get it new for 450€ here in belgium), but I'm still not convinced (mainly because i lose warranty by rooting and lack of custom roms like CM). Can you guys tell me why I should go for the S7 and not for the OP3T (for example)?
TLDR; give me good reasons to get an S7
It's not for us to convince, you need to read reviews, look at camera samples, test the phone as a physical demo in a store, compare what you find against the same with the OnePlus and decide if the price difference is worth it
---------- Post added at 12:02 ---------- Previous post was at 11:57 ----------
Have you made the same threads in other device forums?
If no, then it sounds like you already know which phone you want
Get a Moto Z Force. OnePlus battery is awful. Only drawback of Moto Z is no notification led and no headphone jack but it comes with an adapter.

Well you're only going to really find 'Pro' S7 owners here lol
I think the phone is great, but don't have any others to compare it to, came from the S5 which I also thought was great
S7 is extremely quick, gets around 130k+ Antutu score, camera is stunning, battery life around 6 hours SoT depending on usage
Would I buy it again if I had the choice, yes
Plus Gear VR, you can get a headset either free depending on region and deal you get, or for about £40 on Amazon

thanks man,
i incline more towards the s7 because its 5.1inch (and includes one-handed mode in its software), while the 3t is 5.5inch (which is kinda too large for me, and it has no one-handed mode)
i only wish i could root without breaking knox & my warranty why u do dis samsung why
I usually root all my Droids, but haven't felt the need to with the S7
Bloatware can be disabled with Package disablers from the play store without root
Ads blocked using non root VPN blockers
Really they were the main things I needed root for in the past, but happy without it this time round

Everything, it redirects traffic through VPN to adblocker > phone
There are a few different ones, I've tried this one
https://block-this.com/
Seems to work well
Only use it for 4G though, I have an adblocker running on the network that blocks ads on everything DHCP anyway
Adguard too

I bought one a few weeks ago and wasnt sure about whether I would stick with it.
I think its a great phone.
- didnt think I would care but I love the design and the way it feels in my hand. In that respect I totally could not get excited about the Pixel
- battery has been quite good for me
- Ive only had it for a few weeks but so far its very fast and a pleasure to use from an interface perspective
- camera is great. really good and really fast. Im not picky about that but its noticeable how nicely it works
- I have been having a little of a problem where it seems like the bluetooth may not be as strong as the S4 I came from. Not sure why that would be but when listening on bluetooth headphones with the phone in my pocket I get crackles and interruptions where I did not with my S4. I feel like this shouldnt be the case but so far I have been having a little of an issue there.

thanks alot, what were ur previous phones? have u rooted ur S7 or dont u feel the need? (i kinda love xposed too much)
Ive had an S2 and an S4.
Held on to my S4 for a while because I didnt see an obvious reason to upgrade.
My S4 was rooted and ROM'd but so far have not been compelled to do that on S7.
I have both. Selling the One plus 3 as I don't use it any more. It's a good phone for the price but the s7 is just that little bit better in every way. For only a 10 euro difference I don't know why you're even asking.
Guess what, I just bought an S7 lol.
The first thing I always do on any android phone, is root + flash twrp + flash the best custom rom available. So which custom ROM do u guys recommend for the S7?
Congrats, make sure you read up on flashing TWRP, it's not as straight forward as usual thanks to encryption etc
Enable OEM unlock in Developer settings too
I think Superman ROM is pretty popular but I've just stuck with stock
I'm game: Get the S7 because you want a sub 5.5" flagship. It's screen is second to none, the Exynos processor is second to none. The camera is second to none. The battery life is good. With root/debloating, the speed advantage of AOSP is gone as Samsung has been making touchwiz better (and 7.0 better still). Get the dual sim model if you want all those things plus whatever reasons people us dual sim phones
...
Just read you got the S7.
First question is which CSC does your carrier use. If it's BTU, I'd say use a 7.0 Beta. If not, then use a S7 6.0 rom (or a better in many ways N7 port). If you use a N7 port, you will get your CSC from the N7 forum (same person released both version).
I like roms made by sac23 as his rom had the earliest support for T-mobile USA (s7 edge forums is more active with roms and they all work with the S7). I also like roms by tkkg994 as he seems to have the most comprehensive development work for the S7 (kernel/csc/3 roms). I prefer roms with rom control (which I use to remove am/pm from the clock and put a cirlce battery in place but is a more powerful theming tool).

Also, maybe get it used for less though 450 ~480USD which is reasonable assuming it includes VAT.

Samsung Buds

From Sammobile: "The free Galaxy Buds promotion may not be available in all the markets.
We have seen Samsung coming up with different pre-order offers in different markets in the past, so there is no guarantee that this free Galaxy Buds promotion will be available in all other regions. Nevertheless, it is safe to presume the pre-order period and the offer will be applicable to at least a few other markets around the world.
The Galaxy Buds are not yet released and are expected to be launched alongside the Galaxy S10 at the Unpacked event. Going by the previous models, they are expected to cost around $200 at launch, which translates to a sizeable discount for those pre-ordering the Galaxy S10."
...have you heard anything about getting them here in the US? I only see a $50 offer for accessories on pre-order registration page.
I dont see any mention of free buds in canada

on the 'picking' page, they don't show the buds? That's a shame, am sorry to hear that.
But I'm curious, how much is the price for S10 in Canada?

S10e $1020
S10 $1260

Why are the prices so high? The s10 plus is supposed to be 1000.
BTW I have icon x 2018 and they cost 200 original. If these cost 130, then they should be considered less luxurious than the ones I have. Should I even buy the new ones?

No "buds" in Canada (crazy as that sounds), but min. $200 off with ANY phone trade in. You could by a $20 pay go phone and use that. Pretty much same as getting buds for free.
I am sorry, but I can't seem to find any info on my dumb question
Are these buds for only listening, or they are also used as a way to make phone calls. Talk too?

Thanks. So they are equipped with a microphone too?
I'd like to know how they work. I'm not a music listener. If I buy them, I'd do it because I world want to use them as means to make phone calls

2 mics actually from what I saw, one internal and one out. Calls, music, all there. Sound quality...TBD
Yeah 2 mics apparently I pre-ordered but will probably end up selling the buds as I got the jabras already and I love them.
We'll see how the audio quality is I guess.
Never had anything like these, so looking forward to trying them!
i talked to costco wireless and t-booth both said with pre order you get your order code , once receive the phone submit it online and register and sammy with send out the buds. anyone else heard of this then if others saying no buds in Canada ?
How they compare to AirPods?

uh...,we'll have to wait to find out until our first hand, or rather first ear experience materializes
I'm not that excited with the free buds, other than the smaller size, I prefer my IconX. I'm happy enough with my S9 but for some odd reason I decided to jump on the trade-in which made the S10 less than $350.
