So, I bricked my Samsung S4, and I'd like to download a custom rom from sammobile. I currently have 2 here. But the difference is in PDA, and CSC. I have absolutely no clue which one to download onto my phone because I have no clue what either means.
Date Country/Carrier Version
2015-09-07 Canada (Globalive Wind Mobile) 5.0.1
2015-09-07 Canada (Globalive Wind Mobile) 5.0.1
PDA M919VVLUGOH1
PDA M919VVLUGOD1
CSC M919VYVLGOH1
CSC M919VYVLGOD1
Which to choose?
PDA represent your build version
e.g your current build is Build: GINGERBREAD.XXLA6, then PDA version of your ROM is XXLA6
again XX represend for countries, XX means it is for europian country
If suppose your build info contain DDLPA, then DD represens for India and PDA version is LPA, means that ROM is for India
Same way CSC is sales code., you can check your ROM CSC by dialling *#1234#
again first two digits represents country and last three represents release time.
But as such there is no restriction to use any ROM for any country if your device is unlocked(carrier restriction free)
Latest ICS is LRK for germany, you can use that too.
Good luck!

The whole process takes a while. But my PC can only work for 6 hours, is 6 hours enough time for the whole process (downloading + flashing) to be done? Because i assume that if the pc disconnects while it's flashing im screwed. I have an alternative too. I could get the file, then put it on a usb, but does the flashing take more than 6 hours?

May I suggest you do the downloading in one ( 6 hour ) session , then the flashing in another.

Yes thanks, I will do the downloading to my usb and then flashing in a seperate session but may I ask if the flashing takes more than 6 hours? Also, could you run me through the steps of flashing with odin without downloading kies itself to my computer because it does not work. Thanks.
When I used to flash stock , it was normally a quick process.
Never anywhere near 6 hours.
I always followed this guide:

May I also ask another question? In the past I factory reset and wiped cache data through recovery mode, but it didn't unbrick, but is not my question. A few weeks ago, I used Odin and a recovery file not knowing I needed to also flash my rom, so I just ran the recovery file. My phone booted normally except now I cannot access recovery mode. Can I just flash my rom following the steps without re wiping cache because I already did while my phone was bricked. It was just that recovery file that messed that up because the website wasn't clear.
Are you talking about ClockworkMod?
If so , it is important to flash the correct one for your phone.
Also , when you say "ROM" , are you talking about a custom ROM , or stock firmware?

I think it's stock firmware I got it from Sammobile.
If I were you , I would start again from scratch.
Flash the stock firmware in Odin.
Then , if you want , install a custom recovery ( ClockworkMod ) and a custom ROM.

Hello.
From my post number you can understand that i am pretty new to the android world. So from my short understanding,
Kernel=The core of the OS
Firmware=The entire OS including the core .
Correct me on the above if am wrong.
Now lets get on topic. I want to root and then bring my phone to the factory default kernel or firmware if that makes a difference.
Looking at my phone status and on topics like :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671
i see a lot of numbers that i dont understand.
First of all lets talk about my phone.
Baseband Version: I9100XXKI1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7.19100XWKI4-CL575468
Build Number: Gingerbread.XWKI4
1) The KI4 specifies the firmware version ? If yes why in the baseband i have KI1 while one the build number KI4 ? (i had KE7 before upgrading with KIES)
2) If i would like to download the original firmware from the thread i posted above i should go for the following as described below ? Even here, The Phone says XXKI1 while PDA XWKI4 . On which should i be interested and what is each of them .
XWKI4
Firmware info
PDA:XWKI4
PHONE: XXKI1
Date: 14/09/2011
Android 2.3.4
3) Even on the XWKI4 on the above thread, there are several links, OXX MultiCSC(AUT, COS, ...), DBT (Germany), XEU (UK) , XWKI4 Stock Kernel etc. My phone was imported from Germany, does it really matter what download link i chose ? What is again the difference in them.
4) Now about kernels. For an insecure kernel i should go for the GT-I9100_XWKI4_insecure ?
5) As last , to restore back to the factory default firmware (or kernel), i need to download the original kernel from the above thread i posted which would be ( GT-I9100_XWKI4_original) , or i can simply apply the firmware which would add also the firmware and would replace it without any problem ?
Thank you very much in advance.
no one knows the answer of any of the 4-5 points ?

Because you can see the baseband (modem) as an own package in the rom.
Sometimes the rom gets updated and the modem doesn't thats why the numbers are different.
You can also flash just another modem and keep the rest of the rom.

Looks good, just write down what kernel/modem/rom you have atm and get one with the same specs among the the original firmwares.

If you flash the original firmware it will contain the original kernel.
Hi everyone,
I flashed the leaked ROM I9505XXUFNA5 to my GT-I9505 LTE back in January when it came out, all went fine. However, now when I try to flash the official Android 4.4.2, say I9505XXUFNB8, via odin v3.09 the process will fail after 20 seconds and I have to flash the leaked ROM again in order to have a functioning phone. My phone is carrier free and it is not rooted. Can anyone help me please !

You just killed your EFS :/
You still got a chance:
you can stay with the leaked rom, but you will have to install the latest "modem" (included in rom failed to install) while you keep the romactually installed
thats the only way it can be lucky and may be EFS get back to work may be. I suppose you dont have any EFS backup, so if restoring it fails that way --> you will have to get it repaired. Will be at least 40$ i think...
There a many posts on xda about EFS, but once gone, it is gone. Feel free to read some hours about it

1. IMEI code is not messed up (it's the same as the one on on the package);
2. I still have carrier signal;
3. I can lock the sim card by pin code
Do you know other signs that would lead to the conclusion that the EFS file is broken ?

Carrier free it means that my phone it's not sim locked in any network. My phone is working fine. I just want to install an official ROM not to stay with the leaked one. I want to install the one for my country so that when I connect to samsung kies via PC the csc and pda of my phone to match up in order to receive updates or to simply for KIES to recognise my phone. The bottom line is that I find it strange that I can't flash 4.4.2 product code COA (Romania) I9505XXUFNB8.

Thats due to its a branded rom you tried to install (COA = cosmote branded).
Here is the unbranded version you need (ROM = unbranded for your country):

Hello,
I heard that there is two versions of the galaxy A8 2018 SM-A530F : the 32 GB version and the 64 version ,
my question is : can we use the same firmware for the two models without having any problem or there is a specified firmware for every one of them ?
and what can cause the brick of the device while flashing it ?
thanks for reading me ^^

Firmwares aren't unique for emmc, otherwise you would see that immediately lol. You can go ahead and flash any firmware (that is for your model and that ofc has same or higher bootloader rev number than the one installed in your phone)
The userdata partition is positioned at the end of the table for this very reason; essential system files first, optional user nonsense last if there's space to spare

ROM flashed with wrong CSC region
Hi,
I downloaded yesterday from sammobile the latest rom for XEH (Hungary) region. After I have flashed with Odin ,I realized that the region is really SER (Russia). It is sure that I downloaded the file which was marked as XEH. How can this happen and what can I do now? Is there other more reliable source os did I make something wrong?

Device X , Binary Y errors in Odin mean you are trying to flash an older firmware version than what is on your phone. Device X = current bootloader version number on phone. Binary Y = bootloader version you are trying to flash.
You will have to find latest version to flash for your phone. Bootloader version number is the 5 th number from the right of the firmware name.

Not sure if it will help if you can't boot into phone but in twrp have you tried a factory reset to see if it fixes issue or if you have a backup you could try and restore your phone from that.
If not and since don't know what version you were on before you will have to find the latest firmware for your region (and carrier).
Firmware name will look this(depending on your model)
Example.: G955FXXU2CRF7 the number 2 (5th from the right) will be the bootloader version number. The higher the number the latest released firmware.
I normally use updato.com for my firmware but you could use sammobil or samfirm.
https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=S8+&exact=1
Make sure you select the right phone model and in the filter section select region (and carrier) to refine search.
Note: This will replace twrp with stock recovery and also use latest Odin 3.13.1

Does this apply to the CSC and AP too? Or is there a different way to tell the binary version of the AP and CSC? Because I get the error telling me I've fused 7 and bin 6 for CSC and fused 6 and bin 5 for AP.

Since your on android 7 with Binary ( bootloader ) no.1 you can flash any firmware you want ( within reason )
Just remember if you update bootloader versions you can't downgrade.

Device X Binary Y error means you are trying flash older firmware than what is on your phone.
You can't downgrade ( binary/bootloader ) versions.
Your CSC code will generally be the country/network of where you live and is represented as XXX
If going to use frija then enter model number ( eg: SM-G955F ) and csc XXX.

have you waited 7 days without reboot?
No, do I have to change time and date to say 2016 and wait for seven days before I reboot?
No need to change time to 2016.
Hi.
I just bought the Note 20 Ultra from may carrier and First what i wanted to do was DEBRAND. So acknowladge from Note8 i thought that, ill download firmware XEO - for my coutry flash it via ODIN and BANG.... but nope.. it didnt went as i expected, i mean flashing went great but CSC doesnt change. As i read some forums there was solution for Andorid10 but Ive got Android11. So im asking here "is there any solution" to change CSC to XEO ?
yeah the android 10 version method works still. Downgraded my note 20 Ultra 5G with android 11(1. Jan Patch) to Android 10(build No: N986BXXU1ATGI ) must be the Juli patch! Changed the csc with ChangeCSC Tool and after that flashed the newest Android 11 Firmware again via Odin (Build No: N986BXXS1CUA2)
My Device was branded on Vodafone.

I have found if you configure a couple of things first, CSC change still works during firmware flash.
1. enable OEM Unlock (in developer options)
2. disable FIND MY PHONE, & logout of Samsung AND Google accounts
3. Go into downloader mode and flash XEO or BTU FW (use CSC file not CSC_HOME)
4. Boot up device with your SIM Card installed.
5. During setup, phone will reboot and change to the correct CSC to match the firmware flashed.
Be aware thet your data partition wil be wiped so backup everything before you start.
Also, note the prduct CSC will not be changed but SIM1/SIM2/eSIM will be changed as expected.
Finally, you will get the correct OTA upgrades automatically for the flashed FW CSC (BTU in my case)
Good luck.
