i have a stock huawei mate 8 and the speaker volume was fine when it was new (fine for huawei only because we all know how bad is the mate 8 speaker in comparison to other flagship phones) but for about month now the speaker gone so low i even had to download a speaker booster app that actually helped a bit and i even try to clean the speaker with a dry tooth brush but with no good what can i do else

Hi,
I'm looking for smartphone that has very loud speaker volume while playing music. I don't really like headphones while jogging outside and I prefer phone speakers. I currently have HTC m8 but even with it's front facing speakers and BoomSound effect it still isn't loud enough for me while running outside. It's great indoors nonetheless. I have sort of measuring its volume while playing rock music (A7X, FOB, Blink 182, ADTR etc) and it reaches around 75-77 dbs under Max volume.
It's hard to find a good review about phone speakers. I know nexus 6p is loud but it turns me off since it doesn't support SD cards. Moto X pure seems good but I don't have data of its loudness. Xpedia c4 or c5 seems to be loud also but I need some input on its loudness outdoors.
Any good recommendation on buying the LOUDEST smartphone for music? Any brand any kinds of input are greatly appreciated. Thanks! (Marshall London is loud and has the best audio but specs are really low)
i love my mate 8 its really a good device but i have only one issue with it, its the low speaker volume i noticed this since the first day i got it (speaking from an ex. samsung note 5 user) i can surely say that the note 5 speaker is much louder and its so strange how big the difference is so i was thinking that maybe i have a defective mate 8?
I can play the maximum volume on youtube without any problems.
but through the Spotify and huawei music player the sound is not good at top volume.
It sounds like the speaker is has explode or something.
for when I run with lower volume its sounds very good.
Should the sound be bad at the highest volume?
If the speaker was broken it would sound terrible on the lower volume too right?
Hope for good answer. And sorry for my bad english. Hope you could understand me // Tobias Sweden
Well there is a safety level for a reason...of course some distortion is bound to happen at higher volumes though i never had to use max volume for a song. I would suggest to use a good quality earpiece to match your needs
it isnt broken all speakers distort the sound as the volume increases
The speaker on honor 8 is awful, just use headphones if available, if not try to low the volume as much as possible
For the price you aren't going to get the best speakers on a mid range device. Even high end flagship devices with the exception of Nexus 6P and other device with front facing stereo speakers, don't have the best audio quality when it comes to the speakers on the device.

That's makes me wonder, why huawei/honor don't put front facing speakers on their flagships?! I wish we had speakers on honor 8 just like the 6p

Probably due to their own design preferences. When Huawei partnered up with Google to design the Nexus 6P, Google probably stated that they wanted stereo front facing speakers on it during the Nexus 6P's design process.

Indeed
Proper etiquette aside (hint: don't use speakerphone while doing your "business" in a public bathroom), rate this thread to express how you think the Honor 9's speakerphone performs. A higher rating indicates that you love it: it's loud and it's clear.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I don't know which topic to put this in but I have some complainings about the vibrations of the device especially for notifications.
I found that the vibrations on my Honor 9 are quite weak and are unnoticable if I carry my phone in my pocket, I always use my phone in silent mode so vibrations are quite important to me.
The duration of the vibrations in the general messenger app are OK, but the duration of vibrations of facebook messenger isn't even 0,5s and at a weak intensity.
My old device (Samsung galaxy j5 2015) had much better vibrations intensity and vibrates 2x (bzz bzz..) at every notification and my Honor 9 only vibrates once which makes it unnoticable when you have you're phone in the pocket.
I downloaded an app called "good vibrations" which makes you able to costumize vibrations for every single app on your phone. It does the job quite well and it does improve the use a little bit but it's still unnoticable in my pocket.
I wish Huawei had some settings where you can costumize your vibrations by standard, or had a stonger motor inside.
Interesting is the vibration motor in the Honor 9 that weak?

I don't know but it is weak compared to all my old samsung devices. But the app "good vibrations" helps alot.

It could be due to the fact that it is placed in a bad spot.
A little better than honor 8 but just the same volume.
Loud enough for me..
Crystal and strong. is a very good!
Sound quality (Headphones output) is really good, i recommend using some players like AIMP...But thing that disappoint me is the output power! With 3D audio off, equ flat, it outputs like ~0.130v rms haha, so lame for a phone in this price range ( my old lumia 630 was giving 0.5v at 1khz,)
If you are lover of louder music, you should get some 16ohm HP with >100db/mw sensitivity or HP amp for pushing higher impedance...
The phone sounds decent on speakerphone. No complaints at all.
Hi,
I was all over ZTE when their phones had front facing speakers, but they seemed to stop doing that stand-out differentiation. How is this new phone on that front (pun intended)?
Max.

They're using the earpiece as a speaker for the stereo effect, although it is technically still stereo the top speaker is not as powerful!

Hrm, interesting. The important thing about front-facing speakers, to me, is the reproduction of high frequencies, and I don't much care about stereo effect - in fact, I turn it off in the accessibility settings. I should probably give it a try to see how it sounds.
Thanks,
Max.
Sound really sucks. The Axon 7 leaves this in the dust when it comes too sound. I was hoping for something from ZTE with as good sound quality as the 7. Unless they make some changes, this will probably be my last ZTE phone.

Agreed. The bottom firing speaker is not loud at all and is very tinny. The earpiece speaker is an absolute joke. I also had the Axon 7 and those speakers blow this phone away. That said, the speakers are about my only complaint with this phone aside from maybe lack of camera OIS.

While I totally agree this phone is pretty ordinary. Nothing about it says I have to have it. In fact, phones like the Realme X2 Pro, with a similar (actually cheaper) pricetag or the OnePlus 7T for a few bucks more, seem like better values.

True, but in the USA, most of the Realme, Redmi, Xiaomi phones don't support all the used LTE bands by my carrier (T-Mobile). The Axon 10 Pro supports every single band, including the brand new ones (66 and 71).

As long as they have at least bands 2, 4, 12 they are fully functional here in San Diego. I'm also on Tmobile.
