Try to disable / enable USB debugging. It sometimes prevents MTP from working properly. Have you tried another computer?

Did you try installing HTC Sync? Also, when the phone is connected in tethering mode, open "device manager" on windows and find the phone (should be under USB devices or something like that). Then right click it and search for updated drivers.
Hi . Today when I connected my phone to my computer the windows driver has encountered a problem and has not been installed correctly. Now my phone is no longer recognized by Windows when I connect with usb cable. Is there a proper driver to fix this problem?
Thanks

Thanks for help.
I tried to uninstall drivers with USBDEVIEW but it's hard to know witch one to uninstall in a 100 drivers list. i removed all called "One" drivers and tried again after reboot comp, with no success
I tried to connect my phone at the usb port who are behind my computer and it works but i still have a message error "unable to find a driver for your device".
So i put my phone on usb caméra mode and it works without driver problem, and i can access the memory storage of my phone
But my phone is still not recognized at the front usb ports of my computer, idk why..

Unplug your device from your computer. Open up Device Manager. Plug in device. Look for the device in device manager. It may have an odd name, but you'll see something pop up when you plug the phone in. When you find it, right click on it and click "Update Drivers". Then click the "Browse" option. Then select "Let me pick from a list". Then click something along the lines of "Android ADB driver". This should let it properly communicate with your computer and let you browse data files on the phone.

Yes, the same driver will work for MTP. If your computer can successfully communicate with your phone via ADB, then it can transfer data as MTP. Is USB debugging enabled on your phone? And, does ADB actually work right now? When you type "adb devices" in a command prompt, does it give you a device serial?
EDIT: I'm not familiar with the 8.1 Entreprise version, I didn't think it would affect anything, apparently it does

i had same problems on win 8.1
the problem is due to mtp windows drivers,
the problem is that windows will install his generic drivers and will override nexus 5 drivers installation
i solved by
1. uninstall all adb intefarces (for example, on acer, I had 2 acer adb interface and another adb bootloader interface)
2. deleting all android_winusb related folders from
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

or everytime Windows will install them instead of the right ones

Ive connected my S6 to the computer but it doesnt show up in My Computer. It shows that the MTP USB Device driver has failed to install. Any solutions? Ive tried everything available on the internet. Even kies and smartswitch and samsung drivers installed. Nothing seems to work at this point.
Does it work on another PC, or with a different cable?

Try to turn on usb debugging from developer options. See what happens. If it fails then probably your usb connnection somehow got stuck in charge only mode. In that case you will need to force mtp through commandline. Just see what happens after you try to turn on debugging first.
Additional note: this is pretty basic stuff but still worth mentioning. What happens when you try to select usb options type from inside storage settings? Does the settings option open up? Is mtp selected over there?

You can force mtp through command line only if you have root access. Are you rooted?
Since mtp is already selected in the connection type list, the problem is probably due to a bad driver structure. Disconnect your device from PC. Remove all the drivers and kies software from your pc. Reboot and connect phone. Try to see if the windows driver works out not. I am guessing you are on windows 7, right?

Ive tried that as well. Windows drivers also couldnt install MTP. Im not rooted. How did this even happen? I mean It was fine yesterday.
You can try these two solutions in their order and report back.
1) On your phone, go to Security -> Device administration->Device adminstrators. Check if there are any app with admin privileges, you have to deactivate them and see if MTP access works.
2) Connect your phone, swipe ur top menu down & tap USB PC connection settings, switch from MTP to PTP. Let driver's install. Now, go to the safely remove & eject media & eject your phone, when it says its safe to remove. Just switch your PTP back to MTP, see if the drivers install successfully then.
