Installing CWM Recovery + Rooting Samsung Galaxy J7 prime ( SM-G610F/SM-G610M )
Tested & WorkingKnow Issue
SDCARD & EXTSDCARD not mounting in CWM ( Not being able to flash/install ZIPs )
FixI suggest you to Install zip using sideload, here's a step by step guide :
First boot up your phone into CWM recovery
Go to Install zip update package and select Install zip from sideload
Now connect your android device to your computer
Download this and extract it.
Open command prompt in the ADB folder (mfastboot-v2 folder) by right clicking in the empty space of the folder while holding the Shift key.
Copy the Zip file you want to install on your device to the ADB folder, for example Xposed.zip.
Run the following command to sideload zip to your phone : adb sideload <filename.Zip>
Example adb sideload Xposed.zip
Voila! That's how you can flash Zip files
First Part: Installing CWM Recovery
NOTE BEFORE
Please make sure to follow the guide carefully and thoroughly as i won't be responsible for any damages caused to your device and also keep in mind that rooting your phone will automatically void your warranty.
MUST READ
Before you start, please note that this root has only been tested on the SM-G610F and SM-G610M variants of the Samsung Galaxy J7 prime, so kindly check your phone's variant before proceeding.(Check the back of your device)
Required Files:
CWM & ROOT
Samsung USB Driver
ADB USB Driver
How to install CWM Recovery
After downloading the required files make sure your system has an active Samsung USB Driver or you can simply download it from here
Also don't forget to Enable USB Debugging & Unlock OEM, this can be done by going to Developer Options and make sure to have these 2 boxes checked.
Then go to Lockscreen and Security under Settings and enable Unknown Sources.
With these done we are ready to kick-off!
Step by Step Instructions
STEP 1 : Connect your phone to your computer & Allow access to your device when the MTP Connection box pops up
STEP 2 : Now go to the ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder ( you will need to extract the rar file) you just downloaded and run 1-EnterDownloadMode.bat
STEP 3 : Wait for the phone to reboot into Download Mode ( If nothing happens after running 1-EnterDownloadMode.bat then you might need to disconnect and reconnect your USB cable and Allow USB Debugging (Check Always allow from this computer) when it prompts you. With this done, your device should automatically reboot into Downloading Mode.
STEP 4 : In Downloading Mode Run Odinv3.10.7.exe (Found in ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder) and click on AP and open
SM-G610_cwm.tar from ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder
After this go to Options in Odinv3.10.7.exe and uncheck both Auto Reboot & F Reset Time and finally click on start to execute the installation of CWM recovery. Wait for it to finish (When it says 'PASS!') and after that press and hold the Volume Down, Power and Home Button together ( To get out of download Mode ) and when you see the phone gets rebooted press and hold Volume Up, Power button and Home button to boot into CWM Recovery
STEP 5 : Enjoy! You now have CWM recovery installed
Second Part: Installing SuperSU
MUST READ
Use Volume buttons and power button in CWM Recovery to navigate through and select the different options.
How to Root
STEP 1 : In CWM Recovery, go to install zip package and then select install zip from sideload.
At this point you will have to connect your device to your computer and once done run ROOT.bat from ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder and wait for it to finish.
STEP 2 : Now run 3-Reboot.bat from ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder and you should see your phone get rebooted.
STEP 3 : Enjoy! You have just rooted your phone!
If you want to flash the stock recovery just repeat the steps for installing CWM but select SM-G610F_stock_recovery.tar or
SM-G610M_stock_recovery.tar instead of SM-G610_cwm.tar
P.S You now have a voided warranty
Cheers!

I have a question. After this root, stock recovery will be replaced by CWM. So is it possible to go back to stock recovery after rooting?? And If it is possible then will be noticeable by samsung if I go to samsung care??

It's not necessary to remove it, however, it's better to do so before any rom installation (just in case your rom installation went wrong and you needed to take your phone to samsung care/service center).
Thanks for the wonderful tutorial and effort!
Worked like a charm!

The method is easy and well constructed, but I want to add something else:
I think is better to add in step 4 - Copy SuperSU-v1.25.zip and BusyBox.zip to root of External SD of your Phone
Newbies will avoid to turn off their devices.

Xposed is incompatible with the ART runtime. That means it won't work on Lollipop.

For all that couldn't succeed with the original SuperSU, use this one
Flash from recovery.
Worked for me.
Had the same problem, this is how I fixed!
I followed the instructions in OP, but was stuck in boot animation.
This is what I did to finally get root.
1. Flash CF-Autoroot through ODIN.
2. It should boot, but the SuperSu app is really outdated.
3. Update SuperSu.
4. It should ask you to update the binary.
5. Try updating through the Normal method.
6. For me it failed, and the app told me to reboot and retry.
7. I rebooted the phone, but the phone was stuck in boot animation (just like with the instructions in OP).
8. (Without wiping anything) I flashed Philz Touch recovery through Odin.
9. I downloaded SuperSu app that is flashable through recovery.
10. Rebooted and finally got root!

Well I spend a few days (got the Edge on Monday) looking for people that could confirm Root on the US Cellular version of the Note Edge and found literally NOTHING......So I decided to just play around with it and hope for the best (Note - This is NEVER a good idea).
Anyway, after about 4/5 failed attempts at flashing via Odin, and then an hour worth of freaking out when I tried to just boot back into the Android OS (of course it gave me the error and to connect to Kies to restore......which I did not have a restore for), I tried one last Hail Mary and it actually worked!!
Not sure how many US Cellular users we have around here in the first place (the N915R4), but it can also be rooted (at least on Android 4.4.4)
....Sorry if this is old but it was new to me and very exciting (since I thought I may have broken my brand new Edge, lol)

Step One - Get yourself the CF-Root files for the N915R4 ( https://download.chainfire.eu/688/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-tblteusc-tblteusc-smn915r4.zip )
Step Two - Using Odin (Right click and RUN AS ADMIN) select the CF-Root file as your "PDA" file, Now you will want to hit "Start"
--Note -- On this step it WILL SAY FAILED...I say again, IT WILL SAY IT FAILED, this is NORMAL SO DO NOT PANIC (I did, lolol).
Step Three - Pull your battery (Since it WILL BE STUCK ON THE FLASHING SCREEN FROM THE "FAILED" CF-ROOT) and then REBOOT BACK INTO DOWNLOAD MODE (If you try to do a normal boot at this point the phone will show the Android Error and tell you basically you need a kies backup).
Step Four - You should now be back in DOWNLOAD MODE with the CF-Root ALREADY "Flash failed" on your device. Now we need to download and flash TWRP for the device. So download the TWRP.tar file ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952595657 ).
Step Five - Go back to Odin and hit "reset" so it wipes out that nasty "Failed" message and re-connects to your device.. Now SELECT PDA FILE AGAIN only this time we are going to select the TWRP.tar that you just downloaded. Now click "Start" and let it flash the TWRP (This will work and say successful).
(At this point your phone WILL boot up and run like normal, but WILL NOT have the SuperSU installed on it or have Root Access yet, it will just have the TWRP Recovery)
Step Six - Now we just need to download the SuperSU.zip ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952597336 ) and put it on your SD Card and flash it via TWRP like you would with any other device.
[Note - You can also add it to your internal memory via the "Mount" option through TWRP]
IMPORTANT - WHEN YOU FIRST BOOT INTO RECOVERY (TWRP) GO INTO THE SETTINGS AND MAKE IT SO IT WILL NEVER TIME-OUT THE SCREEN!!!
I do not know why but with the N915R4 if it goes screen off while in TWRP it WILL NOT TURN BACK ON. You WILL HAVE TO do a battery pull and then reboot into Recovery mode once again.
...This worked like a charm for me and once I installed SuperSU the first thing I did was grab Root Checker and discovered that I was good to go on Root Access. Enjoy.

Ok.Use MY twrp (look my signature) for note edge (you have downloaded twrp for note 4 )
try and report
I had same problems I guess. I tried to root my edge with a properly downloaded autoroot file but got a failed response when trying to install via Odin. Came across your post and did what you suggested with good success ....now have root access.
Question though...why do I need to first attempt to install the autoroot file? Can't I just install a custom recovery, download supersu and install it via TWRP with same results?

Ofcourse, PC is needed. Follow the instructions carefully and use Google for basic Q/A.

How to root S6: SM-G925W8. Android 7.0.??????
Hi, i tried to root my phone, but then was bricked. I fix it, installing the firmware.
How i do it? I download the wrong twrp! Can anyone give me the correct one? And a guide after that. I dont want to break my phone. Thaaaanks. Regards.
-Put your phone in download mode and flash twrp-3.1.1-0-zeroltecan.img.tar with odin , after succeeded, the phone will restart, quickly press and hold volume +, power & home button go to TWRP, if you didn't do it fast enought,
it will return back to stock android recovery, you have to start this step again to have TWRP recovery.
-Next boot into TWRP and flash SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip or Magisk 14 (you might need to install Magisk manager manually), reboot phone and you will have root.
