So I've been waiting to permanently Unlock my LG G STYLO, however when I go to device Unlock app, it says my device is not compatible to try again later or contact customer service. Turns out I can't have my phone rooted and ask for a permanent unlock. I know its just so I can switch carriers. Did anybody find another way to unlock your phone with root? I have metropcs.
How long have you had your phone? I think you have to have it for at least 90 days to be eligible for unlock with MetroPCS.
Going with 4months however it states online I have to be unrooted so it can unlock.

Word man

I had the same unlock issue.
It depends on where you got the phone. I purchased it via Walmart, and was not on their (Walmart) service plan on tmobile network but on tmobile 30 prepaid plan. Tmobile will not unlock it without Walmart plan contacting them......big pain in the bass......since I was a tmobile pre paid customer using their sim in the walmart stylo phone.......finally after multiple attempts I was able to make the unlock it for me
If you are on Walmart phone and plan
Then you have to contact Walmart plan and request unlock code and meet their requirement for unlock
If you bought the phone directly from tmobile/metro then you must meet their mim requirement for unlock.
Hope this helps

i work for metro pcs. just brick your phone some how and take it to any store and say it wont turn on. they will do a warranty for you. only cost $15 to do it.. then when you get the exchange in then do the unlock app,,
also i have the same phone and i had to call customer service to get them to activate the unlock app
I unlocked via the t-mobile after troubling them for a good week
I am having a somewhat similar situation. My G Stylo is on Metro PCS. I have had it since its release which is well over the 90 day eligibility period for the unlock. But when I tried to use the Device Unlock App it keeps saying my device is not eligable. But that's not the issue because I contacted Metro PCS and after they verified that I'm eligable they gave me the unlock code themselves. However here is where my issue comes in. I can't access the menu to enter the code. I tried putting in a different Sim (which usually works) but instead of asking for an unlock code I only get a window popping up that tells me to use the unlock app. I then tried a dial code to access the hidden menu but in that menu I don't see an option for Network or Sim unlock. And I called Metro PCS back and their troubleshooting efforts to get the Device Unlock App to work were unsuccessful.
Does anyone know of a way to access the Network Unlock menu to enter the unlock code?
Thanks
Cant enter unlock code on Lg G Stylo. Only the Network provider has to unlock. Keep troubling them and they will do it
I have a G Stylo I bought (Walmart Family Mobile) while visiting US. When I bought it, I knew I had to stay for almost 2 months in US and then return to Europe(where I live). Due to some personal matters I had to return earlier (after 3 weeks).
When I got in Europe I tried the T-Mobile unlock app and they granted me 30 days of temporary unlock. Everything was fine till this deadline expired and afterwards, the local SIM card (O2) wasn't accepted anymore.
The unlock app doesn't allow me to do any kind of unlock (nor temporary nor permanent).
I contacted twice T-Mobile US customer support to be able to get at least some additional temporary unlock but when they checked the US phone number they said I should ask about temporary unlock to Walmart Family Mobile support (which is really crappy. Only automatic phone support for paying bills and not much more).
I also tried purchasing an unlock code (from one of the sites offering them). Even though I paid for it and I got the code, there's no way for me to enter it in the phone.
When I start with the O2 sim card I only get in the beginning a message saying "Network Lock" with an OK button (photo attached)
The site where I bought the code gave me a few dial options to try out in order to somehow make the network unlock menu appear but none of them worked.
For example, when I dialed "2945#*631#", after the last "#" all the digits typed till then are deleted and no menu appears.
What should I do?
I paid some Indian dude on Ebay to unlock my MetroPCS stylo. 3 days and $26.95 later, I unlocked it through the unlocker app and switched over to the 30 dollar T-mobile plan. Definitely worth that money.

I tried a few times to get in touch with T-Mobile customer support but once they checked my phone number they said I should address Walmart Family Mobile support.
I couldn't find any mail or live chat to get in touch with Walmart's support.
The Walmart support is just some automated system that tells me I have to pay the latest bill in order to get support. This happens once I dial my US phone number. Rather than pay my last bill (~$25) and maybe try afterwards to see if they can unlock my phone, I would better pay this to have it unlocked once and for all.

Thanks for the all the details.
Unfortunately it's not MetroPCS and I had it active for less than 91 days. The initial plan was to stay in US for a few months but in the end I had to return to EU after 3 weeks.
I 100% agree with you that most of the time when dealing with cust. support you have to make a few calls until you get somebody with a bit more skills than the rest.
So i purchased the 8+ using Samsung finance. My question is. What if I give the 8+ to someone else. Can it be activated with that person's account ?

They just pop in a sim card if att tmo and done. Cricket and metropcs also. Put in for carrier unlock first. Vzw and spring prob gonna be SOL lol gotta use that carrier. I wouldnt be sirprised if samsung financing puts a lock on that dont allow carriers to unlock device until paid off seeing as how they are charging 100 for non activation with that specific carrier.
I have a Sprint S7 (SM-G930P) that's never been activated and would like to unlock it and change the firmware so that I can use it on Verizon. Is this possible?
Specifically, would it be an issue since the phone has never been activated? It has a clean IMEI and after calling Sprint, they have no records of the phone in their database.
I would think if its not on their system then the lock isn't yet active, isn't the IMEI how carriers control device network access? What happens if you put in the Verizon SIM, even on Sprint firmware if the device isn't locked it'll run without your carriers firmware.
That's what I thought. I'll put a Verizon SIM in it later and see what happens. In theory, I should be able to flash Verizon's firmware to the phone as is without any problem, right?

Okay. When I put a Verizon SIM in it, it says Invalid Card. What is the fastest way to unlock a phone? Is there a free way for me to do it myself or am I stuck shelling out $50 for a site to send me a code?

If the phone is paid for (the contract completed or bought out) then all you have to do is call the original carrier and they can unlock it. If it's not paid for than you have to probably pay
The phone is paid for. I bought it outright last Christmas. I was going to give it to my son, but ended up going a different route and it was never activated. I called Sprint yesterday and they told me they had no record of my IMEI number.

If you bought it from a sprint store and it's sprint branded than I would ask to speak with a manager and make sure you have the IMEI or ESN right
Hello,
I owned a Verizon Galaxy Note 20 Ultra that I bought shortly after release. I got bored with it, as often happens, so I paid it off in full and sold it, to someone who uses T-Mobile. They cannot activate the phone, when they put their T-Mobile SIM in it, it gives the message "SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless". The facts:
I owned and used the phone for well over the 60 day automatic unlock period.
It was active on my Verizon account for the entire time until a week before I sold it.
It was paid off IN FULL, and my account said the line was paid in full and ready for an upgrade.
My Verizon account is never behind or not paid on time (Auto-Pay)
Is there something I needed to do to the phone besides factory reset it? Is there anything that can be done? Should I call Verizon customer service? To further complicate matters, the person I sold it to lives in another state. I may need to have them send me the phone back and refund them their money if I can't figure this out.
Thank you so much for any help that can be provided.
Are you sure you used the device for 60 days?

Are you sure you used the device for 60 days? Did you check with another carrier sim before you sold the device?
SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless is a common message for all Verizon branded phones. May be buyer is confused with this message.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, it was activated in late August 2020 and was active up until the end of December 2020. No, I didn't realize I should try a different carrier's SIM first.
I asked them if they are able to call or text despite the SIM card message and they said no.
You need(ed) to request VZW to carrier (SIM) unlock the device prior to selling it.

I'm so confused, Verizon says devices are automatically unlocked in their policies listed here: https://www.verizon.com/support/device-unlocking-policy/
I'm going to call Verizon, and see if there's anything they can do.
Update: Called Verizon tech support, and the agent confirmed that the device IS unlocked. He said I should have the buyer contact T-Mobile customer service and add the device to their database. Hopefully that works.

Adding to database is a Verizon thing, Tmobile is gsm. There is no way to sim unlock it if you don't do it on your phone line and request the unlock as if you're using the phone yourself.
Verizon will not unlock it unless it's currently on the line and met the other criteria you already have. For some reason verizon can't read if its really unlocked unless it's on their network, I went through it with an iphone earlier this year. They're a mess.
damn, i thought me getting a new phone annually is bad. you get a new phone every quarter? lol, actually i was thinking about trading mine for a fold 2 but no s-pen, no exp storage and a step down camera array, i decided to keep my note and see if they fix the fold 2's shortcomings.
what's in your pocket now?
It is quite possible that the buyer was not using an existing active sim. He was probably trying to activate a new sim which failed. I had the same issue with AT&T when activating a new sim. AT&T was not recognizing Unlocked model imei and I had to use a very old phone imei for activating sim after which I was able to use the same sim with with AT&T.
It also possible the buyer is lying to you. Either way it looks like the deal is going tits up for you. Perhaps next time check with a T-Mobile SIM before selling it or sell it as verizon locked. Feel for you.
Hello, i know this is a old thread but did you find the solution? i bought a verizon note 20 ultra and it doesnt work on any carrier, just work for a minute and it stops.
You guys found a way to unlock this? I just got the same phone and its a very expensive paperweight atm
im really confused about this right now lol...i just got the 8t+ last saturday, ive been with sprint for 4 years, called sprint today and asked about getting the carrier unlocked so i can get the bootloader unluck from oneplus, and of course i was denied, now the phone is tmobile branded and in the about phone status area it shows sim status and shows tmobile, it doesnt have the tmobile unlock app on the phone and
when i search for a unlocking service none show up for unlocking sprint and all show for unlocking with tmobile unlock app....
so im thinking im screwed to get it unlocked until after its paid off and that sucks..
unless anyone knows something that i havent found

You access the unlock app via settings. I believe its under sim and network
Search the threads. There's posts about getting an unlock before the device is paid off. There's a XDA member that was doing unlocks if you sent him a PM with a request. You can also request unlocks through customer service if you're lucky. It's all covered there. The search box is your friend in this.

Are you still a Sprint account? Do you still sign into your phone account at Sprint.com or now at T-Mobile.com? I know there's a heavy push to get Sprint customers to come through the TMO stores and get their SIM cards replaced with new ones. That's part of the transition. I got a friend who worked at a Sprint store and was converted to TMO store. I'll ask him about the accounts.
Yeah so update, as long as you have a balance on your phone you can't switch to TMO. If you can return the device, might suggest doing that so you have no phones you owe for. Port over to TMO and then get the new phones on a plan. Then you have a path to unlock via the known methods.

My friend did just tell me if you transfer the device to another account for 46 or 52 days, he couldn't remember which, that it would auto unlock. Stupid little tricks. Happen to have a friend that got the same device? Swap devices between accounts?
Even on sprint it uses the unlock app still. The only reason magnefica cant do it is because he can only access tmo system accounts. He doesn't have access to the sprint system. I got mine unlocked via twitter. You just need to keep DM'ing tforce on there until someone unlocks it for you. There's a whole thread on here about it.
