Android 7 in XZ - An app "keeps stopping" - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

I played a game ( Fate Grand Order from Japanese ) in XZ 6.0, and it was smooth, no problem found. But after I updated it to 7.0 Nougat, it couldn't run anymore, didn't show anything but notification that it "has stopped" with try again button, then "keep stopping" with "close app". It was told to support Nougat from version months before, and other Nougat phone report it working.
I tried clean cache, uninstall and reinstall, and even a factory reset lately, but it's still not working.
So, what can be problem here? Does Nougat have any permission or setting changed that i should notice and try?

I really wouldn't recommend updating to nougat right now, it's slow and unstable, no benefit yet, give them time to optimise.

Yep, quite unstable, but for me it's faster than 6.0.

It's hard to figure out what's the problem. I'll wait for a game update and a firmware update. Then perhaps I'll have to downgrade :'(.

Could be the reason of a borked update. I suggest to update to the latest 5.1.1 or perform a factory reset.

yeah, 5.0.2 was better, i am regretting updating my phone...but the ram is better on 5.1.1.....
Me too! There's a big scrolling problem with 5.1! It's like the phone doesn't know at what speed it should scroll.
i am noticing another bug, when someone is calling me, i drag the green circle to the right, it shows the in call screen but you cannot do anything and the call haven't been answered, then 2 seconds later it returns to the screen when someone calling you again....you have to do this 3 times to answer correctly....

Honor 6 - video and interface lagging

Hello everyone.
At the outset I'd like to apologize for my poor english. I hope that I will explain my problem correctly.
For some time my phone (H60-L04) has terrible lags. You can see it when watching a Youtube video or local videos from internal storage or memory card. It looks as if the phone loses a single video frames. It looks awful. It is similar with system interface. The phone does not work smoothly, does not play the video smoothly. At the beginning everything was OK.
The problems started after upgrading from KitKat to Lollipop. Then I noticed the first lag. I tried to restore the factory settings. Did not help. Then I returned to KitKat (of course stock). Lags still existed. I restored back Lollipop and the lags became even worse. With each installation rom is getting worse.
In addition, the phone very warms next to "Honor".
I don't know what's going on. What is bad? :/
Please help.
Regards.
I think some kind of a CPU problem. Did you try to turn off your phone for a couple of minutes?
If you are rooted, look for apps that that can see and disable apps running on background.
From there you can pinpoint the culprit.
Thanks for your reply.

Yes. But the problem happens even when the phone is cool.

I don't have root. I checked on the newly installed ROM, without my apps. The problem also occurred.
It seems to me that the situation is deteriorating after a factory reset and reinstallations rom. It's getting worse
Maybe you your base version of kitkat is not compatible with the lollipop version you downloaded. Did you already tried this? This works for me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3099261
[GUIDE] Back to Stock ROM (the sure method)
I tried to restore the stock rom this method from this page: pantomath.xyz/honor-6_l04-how-to-downgrade-lollipop-5-1-beta-to-emui-3-0-using-downgrade-pack-2/
On the stock ROM KitKat situation was the same as on Lollipop what really surprised me
With regard to Lollipop, I have used official packages for H60-L04 from hihonor.com. It was enough just to put Update.app on the phone and make a local update.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
what build of kitkat are you using?
i am using B370 and i dont have a problem with this build so far
my only suggestion is to go back to stock rom (B370)
using the method i posted earlier (but you must unlock bootloader first)
I am using B370 too and the problem still persists.
well if thats the case, i suspect you have encountered a problem with your phone's runtime.
have you tried unlocking the developer options?
and changing the 3-animation scale to 0.5x
unlock developer options by tapping 7 times the build number on the about phone settings

Yes, I tried the settings in the developer options, among others 2D GPU accceleration etc but video is still not running smoothly

Rooted lollipop vs marshmallow

What's up guys so me personally I haven't updated to Android m because lack of root but those of you who had lollipop rooted who went to marshmallow
What is your opinion
well i just did a tot recovery cause i had the "lgsetupwizard" crash issue when i did a factory reset on my device. so i have decided to go for the 6.0 update, don't get me wrong root is very valuable but without twrp i can't restore my device if a issue like that pops up again and i very seldom have access to a computer to be able to recover from problems like these. i went 4 days without my phone because of that bug :/ so i'll be sure to chime in with my thoughts about the 6.0 update once i play around with it a bit.
marshmallow is really good especially when it comes to battery life.
I have had alot of crashing issues, mostly when opening the camera app. also when restarting the phone will boot to the at&t screen twice...... EDIT:
AND SNAPCHAT WTF

So I haven't had any crashing issues on 6.0. The main impression I get with 6.0 isn't exactly better battery life, it's just better stand by time. Knock code now forces 6 taps vs 4 on lp. Permission management is meh. Personally 6.0 w/o root is trash and not worth the sacrifice.
Have had some stutters, a few initial force closes, but have subsided and now it feels more responsive, and battery seems a little more conserved

Got my phone with marshmallow. But it's really nice. I'm really enjoying the phone so far. Just wish I could root marshmallow.
Marshmallow is horrible... I upgraded my phone and they gave me marshmallow, so I decided to downgrade to lollipop in order to obtain root. Without root a cellular device has no use for me... I didn't have root on my device for a few months and it killed me.. Until marshmallow obtain root, I don't see the use for it; that's just my opinion, but who am I anyways ?...

Couldn't agree more!
It aint worth updating to MM until root could be possible. I updated, now regretting. Couldn't get back to LP because it will wipe all the data and I am too lazy to make a backup. Plus, I cannot boot into Recovery/Fastboot mode as well in MM. No idea if its me only or H810 with MM works like that.

How to cancel an OTA update that has started to download?

Hello,
I have a Galaxy S6 running the latest 6.0.1 XEF stock ROM (no root) before Nougat.
I have choosen not to update to Nougat for the moment as I prefer to wait for better Nougat releases.
I was quite sure the settings of my S6 were set in order to disable search/install of updates. But yesterday, while connected to my network using Wifi, my S6 has started to download the Nougat updates! But, as I said, I don't want it for the moment. I stopped Wifi, then it stopped downloading the updates. I tried to go to the update settings of the S6 to disable updates but it is not possible now to go the "About device > Software update". And each time I connect to WIFI, it resumes the download of the update .
In the application manager, I found 2 apps related to "Software update": for only 1 of them it is possible to stop it and remove cache and data, which I did. I thought I would have cancelled the download of Nougat update and bring me back the possibility to disable update. But unfortunately, it has no effect. I also tried to wipe cache partition, but the same: it has no effect and each time I connect Wifi, it resumes the download of the update.
So, how I can cancel the download of the update and be able to access to the settings to prevent from downloading/installing it??
Thank you for you help!
There's no need, Nougat is stable now.
If you still doesn't want, let it download the update (because you can't cancel it) then block notifications from both updates apps from the settings.

Really? Latest release for XEF has still the same changelist and I read several complains regarding battery life and lags into the Gallery app for example...

I had very bad battery life on Nougat, i was on UAE firmware. When i bought this second S6 i made a decision to stop using custom roms so i tried to flash another firmware, took the last XEF ( from April) and flashed it 2 weeks ago, my battery improved a lot specially in standby , no issues or whatsoever.
Thanks for your feedback!
phone is full, now what?
Sorry to hijack this thread, but it seems the best fit.
Basically the same question as above: "How do I cancel an OS update download in progress" on my Samsung S6
Reasoning is a little different though. Accidentally I started the update process but during the download my phone ran full.
And as you might know, with a full phone some apps dont work.
Of course Android gives me the option to remove files and apps but immediately the free space is occupied by the running update....
Any ideas?
tia!

is this safe to install!!?

Just got checked and found this update in setting, but there is no change log info for this update kinda worry to install. Any suggestions would be helpful for me, thnx. Current running H8 frd-L09 B386 (no rooted).
it would mostly be only security patch unless there was some major bugs highlighted and been fixed. mostly April patch only.
i would say stay there because i have installed the later updates (almost 3 after that version) and they are crap bs, made my phone laggy and ram cant hold out games in background for long and also my phone is heating up.
