Xperia XZ + Bose soundsport(apple) = a problem? - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
This is gonna be a long question because I have a very weird problem.
When I first got the phone, and plugged in the Bose soundsport earphones to see how it would sound (before even downloading any 3dr party apps), the earphones didn't work as they are supposed to.
The phone recognizes the plug in, displays it with the pop-up thing in the notification bar. And everything works perfectly, for about 5 seconds. And then, the notification disappears and the sound output switches to the main speakers of the phone.
I had this problem on the first day, for about a few hours. And then it resolved itself spontaneously, and I never had any issue again, for about two and a half weeks. Now the phone started doing the same again.
I called Xperia support, and we agreed that the problem is very weird and probably a software problem. Since I have been using the same earphones on my Xperia Z3 and also all other earphones do get recognized on the Xperia XZ. Even after doing the hard-reset with the xperia companion software, the problem still didn't resolve. Also, Xperia support tells me that since they can't reproduce this problem once i send it to them, they will even charge me for it without helping me.
And having the bad luck I always have, the policy of my provider to bring back the phone because I don't like it, is over.
Sony support tells me to ask Bose, and Bose tells me to ask Sony what I can do to solve this.
Does anyone have any experience with a problem like this.
And would it be a solution just to change some things in the software, I seriously don't know what to do anymore.....

I have the bose soundsport and no issues at all. Works perfectly fine.
Might be a rouge app causing issues?

I checked if anything third party influenced it.
By removing SD and formatting phone, didnt resolve man.
I'm truly at a loss here...

Xperia L Microphone Issue

A few days ago I discovered that people I talk to over the phone can't hear me, whether they call me or I call them, while I can hear them perfectly.
My voice if very muffled, impossible to comprehend, sometime it cuts out completely and there's also a persistent "static" noise in the background, kind of like wind blowing. I can usually make myself heard only if I raise my voice by a lot, close to yelling actually.
I tested the microphone via the service menu AND the Xperia Diagnostics app and I'm even more puzzled. Initially I'd say that about 70-80% of the time I had to raise my voice a lot so that the recorder can pick up anything and the results I got were essentially what the people I talked to reported. I looked up the issue on various forums, fiddled with the settings, disabled xLoud, noise suppression, took the SIM out and put it back in, did a repair via the PC Companion AND a factory reset later on and nothing seems to consistently work. Sometimes they can hear me, sometimes they can't. Testing results are also much better now and I'm able to clearly hear my voice most of the time, but when actually calling someone, even when they say they hear me clearly they can still hear that annoying static. I now have noise suppression turned off, since that seems to help.
To my knowledge, this started to happen after the 4.2.2 update, a very buggy update. I also had a problem with headphones (two pairs in otherwise working order) not being recognised, even though both were initially working well with the phone. Eventually I had to repair the phone twice for that (the first time it didn't fix anything) just to get the phones working again. It's after that that I noticed this mic problem.
I also found this thread and I wonder if that lil' piece of rubber can be the problem. Apparently those are Ions, but I'm thinking maybe there's enough internal commonality between that and the XL that I could actually have the same problem.
Other than that, what would you advise? Try to go back to 4.1.2?
Service is my last option due to time and distance concerns. Thanks!

Well since you said that this started happening after you've updated to 4.2.2 you have 2 options
1. Reflash the 4.2.2 update
2. Downgrade to 4.1.2
I hope that helps
Sent from my C2104 using xda app-developers app
Unfortunately, I can't be sure if it's due to 4.2.2 or just a coincidence, since it didn't start immediately after the update. Like I said, that thread about the Ion mic problem got me thinking that maybe this is what happened, in which case it's only a coincidence that I also updated to 4.2.2 a couple of days prior.
"Reflash the 4.2.2 update" - is this different from repairing it via the PC Companion? Like I said, I already did that and a factory reset later on and it didn't help with this.
In any case, thanks for your help! :good:

[Q] Stuttering audio with bluetooth

Hey!
My English are not the best but after allot of searching and testing I really need help and turning me to you!
I have a problem with audio stuttering when using any kind of speakers/headset (SBH50 and a Sony wirelesses speaker) with bluetooth. It works great if I have the mobile on the table right beside me, but if I then lets say puts the mobile in my pocket the stuttering appears instantly. If I then put my hand over my pocket the audio stops and if I then remove my hand the audio comes back stuttering.
I have tried turning off the Wifi, 3G, updating the mobile and the headset, restore both the headset and mobile.
I have the latest update, android 4.4.4 but I got my mobile back yesterday after sending it in on warranty and they changed the motherboard of the mobile to a new one. Before I turned it in the audio was clear and working but it wasn't updated to the latest update from Sony, i am not sure if that could cause this problem?
If you have any information on this that could help me I would be very happy!
This has always happened to me. I can set my phone aside and bluetooth will be perfectly clear, but as soon as it goes in my pocket and I start moving, it will stutter a lot. I always thought it was just how Bluetooth worked, something about static electricity or the warmth of your leg. It seems normal to me, but mine could be malfunctioning as well, who knows?

That is the exact problem I am having! The warmth or static electricity should not affect this, you should definitely have it check out! I am going back to the retailer today and turning it in for the fourth time... But the last repair was there last try so I am getting a new phone and I am sorry to say that my confidence with Sony Z3 is gone with the wind and I will take a Samsung S5 this time instead..
Honestly it doesn't matter to me, I've found many ways around it. I either deal with the slight stuttering having it in my pocket, or put it in my jacket front pocket (which solves the issue), or just set it down somewhere. I love the phone too much to have it traded in for anything that small.
Got the same thing, has anyone tried buying some phone pouch? did it work?

PLEASE HELP!!!!! Serious issue in Xperia Z3. Please check the issues list.

Hi All Friends / Technical Guys in XDA forum,
I'm facing serious issues in my Xperia Z3 mobile phone. Before one month I've purchased Xperia Z3 phone from online market. After i received the item i noticed phone doesn't work NFC function. After two days i noticed GPS also not working as well. And Battery drain in stand by mode. Now day before yesterday phone calls also not working. It means my voice doesn't hear to other party. And when i listen to music using headphones. I can hear really loud cracking noise through the both headphone speakers. Also I've changed couple of my headphones, every headphone has same issue. And WIFI really slow. I've checked WIFI from couple of wifi routers.
Issues List
NFC not working
GPS not working
WIFI slow
Huge battery drain
Can't hear my voice to other party during calls
Really huge cracking noice in headphones
Solutions that i have tried
Factory reset the phone
Flash the OS using Sony FlahTool (androxyde)
Change Marshmallows (Current OS) to Lollipop and KitKat
For WIFI I've tested using multiple routers and changed the channels in router
And checked using Speed Test, Speed test got 50+Mbps but surfing speed is daim slow
For headphones issue checked using couple of headphones
For GPS checked using GPS test, did not connect to any satellite
For calls issue tested voice test using Sony diagnostics not recording my voice
From the above solutions none of them are worked.
So guys i need to know why this happen? And what is this fault? Is it because of the defect mainbored? or other issue?
Please if you guys can tell me what is the exact issue from this details. i can replace the part if it is hardware issue.
unlock bootloader and etc
the best thing u can do unlock bootloader then flash a custom kernel and flash custom rom then wait and see it resolved or not
@John8Metallo8Corben Thanks for the reply. Actually this phone is prototype. If you can may i know what you mean by unlock bootloader? it means root the phone? And may i know about good custom roms for the Xperia Z3.
Not sure if prototype phone get software update, so maybe revert back to original firmware can help?
From xperiafirm find the oldest firmware (store or journalist firmware) and flash while wiping everything in flaahtool.
Really thanks for your reply mate. @gm007 I've checked whether it has any software update for the prototype phones, But unfortunately i haven't found it in google. And i revert back to two OSs (KitKat and Lollipop). I thought it will work but not good result. Same issues have after revert back. But after some researched i found one solution for two issues. One is about proximity sensor, other one is can't hear my voice to other party. Those issues will okay when i press the top speaker area and bottom mic area , When i lose it, again have issue. Now i will give this phone to mobile repair shop. But please let me know if you get any answer for these issues. Thanks again for your reply
Disassemble your phone and clean all the connections and contacts, maybe ur phone has swim in water.

headphone jack stopped working

Hi Guys,
I am getting really annoyed with this problem because I have to use an alternate software, soundabout, just to get sound routed to the headphone/audio jack.
I am on the hunt for a resolution because.. well i dont need a reason! it should work!
I know it is a software related problem because an application can correct the sound.
help is much appreciated.. I am on the latest stock software
All I can think of is a fresh install. That really is a strange issue. Does that app recognize it when you pull out your headphone jack?
i do everything manually so I use the app to either route the sound to the jack or the speakers.. its really frustrating and has been a long standing issue from what I am researching but yet sony dont find it a common or important enough issue to fix -_-
Im doing a fresh OS repair

Please post an update if the software repair fixes this issue. My old Xperia P has this problem, i think one of the pins are broken so it does not recognize the headphone.

Why dont you try soundabout app.. it may help you understand if it is a software bug or hardware issue

I'm pretty sure that it's a hardware issue since inserting it in a certain way makes it work Thanks for the tip though, I didn't know such an app existed.

So you know the software repair did not work.. I am over Sony phones.. thought ide try them because theyre known for build quality but the camera performance and with little niggles coming about you end up appreciating the product samsung puts out even though they heat up considerably.
This happened on my Xperia Z5 Premium as well. There is no excuse from Sony. Previous devices have had this issue, they should learn from this and get it fixed.
I am moving to google pixel sony needs to get their act together ive spent 2-3 months with this phone and after initial hope that the update would make everything amazing.. it kind of did but the other problems and lack of a consistent camera is just not satisfactory.. I am sorry sony there is no excuse! you develop the sensors for most of the phones and you develop hardware in general.. great software compliments great hardware! headphone jack problem killed it for me

It might just be a faulty device, why don't you consider getting it replaced at an authorized Sony Service Center.
Can you elaborate on the headphone jack issue?
I have been anxious to make the jump to the xz because my z3's headphone already needed repairing three times. The headphone jack is loose in the frame. First sounds starts to crackle and later on fails completely. Mic remote has issues too.

After doing the following test I knew my z3c problem was hardware.
Open an audio recording app. I used Sony's.
Plug in a headphone with mic.
Start recording
Wiggle the jack in the socket
Listen to the recording.
If the wiggling has caused a crackling noise then you can be sure the jack socket is busted
Sent from my SGP611 using Tapatalk
So I was having a sound issue with my headphones as well. When I connected my headphones I would have audio for a second or two before the system reverted to using the built in stereo.
After contacting Sony's support they were able to determine the problem was that their smart connect app wasn't loaded. I had to re-download it from the play store and after a reset everything was perfect.
As I'm new I can't post a link to it but a quick search for "Sony Smart connect" on the play Store should find it. Hopefully this helps out.
Good

That is completely true since you can create crackling noises while everything still works like it should. You should listen to the recording and test if you can hear yourself, if not than there might be something wrong with it.

Audio Issue Questions?

I'm having a few Issues with audio on my pixel that I'm having a hard time finding answers to.
1. The biggest issue that I'm having the hardest time finding info about is this; when listening to music through my headphones after about 5 seconds there will be a pop, the all the audio on my phone will stop working completely. no, mic, no assistant, no headset, bluetooth, speakerphone, or speaker in general.
2. Often, my pixel will just not detect headphones at all. or detect them, then play no sound.
3 Sometime only the mic stops working. I know this one is common in android in general.
A reboot fixes all these things, but the headphone pop happens every single time. I'm talking with support now and they want me to factory reset the phone, so we'll see what happens after that. My questions are if any of you have found fixes, and if the problems happen on custom ROMs. And Does ROMing void the warranty on this phone?
Did you buy your phone from Verizon or Google? The pop and audio dying compare results of a poorly made headphone plug. Check with another pair of headphones and see if you get the same results unless you already have. If the alignment is slightly off it could be shorting across contacts although I don't understand why would work for a short period of time and then stop.
I had the issue with several pairs of headphones and auxillary cables. I talked with Google support and they had me factory reset the phone, and that seems to have fixed the headphone jack issue. The other issues still persist with the mic and call problems though.
The guy from Google support doesn't seem to be getting it. I told him that I'm still having issues the other stuff, but he keeps asking if I tried other headphones. This is the 5th time he's asked.
Yeah, the mic only works about %20 of the time. I've had to restart my phone just to make phone calls for about a week now. I'm going to try and get a replacement.
I'm having an issue from time to time where the phone speaker at the top stops working when taking a call. Only happened twice in 3-4 months. reboot fixed it... ugh..
That's how mine started. Now, o times out of ten I have to restart my phone and pray that my phone likes me that day to make a phone call.
Figured I would pop in here guys. Had a Pixel since launch and have had myriad problems, mic stopped working and couldn't make calls, headphones not being recognized. Factory reset didnt help, safe mode no help, etc. Scoured the net and found on google product forums a possible solution, tried it and so far it has worked.
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/phone-by-google/4kyIdArEve8
basically go to clock app, find alarms and delete them, then delete data and cache from clock app and reboot. worked a charm for me, try it out.
I'll give this a shot. How long has this been working for you?

I'm just waiting until I get another screen ordered for my MXPE to swap my pixel. If that one has issues too I'll probably just try to get my money back. I love this phone, but that's not an issue I can handle.

If it's not, then it has to be a really deep seated software issue. I flashed pure Nexus to see if it still did it and had no luck at all. Lol
