Anyone else have this issue? Basically, if I may have messages come in on Facebook messenger and when i view them the bar at the top says, "Waiting on Network" instead of "Connected". It will stay that way indefinitely unless I send a message. If I send a message it quickly turns green and says "Connected" and then my messages roll in. It's very frustrating. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

I get the same thing, not all the time, but a few times a day that made me stop using it. Btw, I only used FB Messenger for SMS.
Same here. Assuming it might have something to do with how the Pixel does network hunting maybe? I also had an issue on a recent cruise where it wouldn't stay connected to the wifi network used for the on ship chat program.

I used to see the waiting on network thing whenever the phone had been sitting idle. I'd wake the phone, open messenger and it would say "waiting on network". However, mine would connect after a bit of waiting. Also, it didn't seem to effect incoming messages. They would arrive while the phone was sleeping so perhaps mine is a bit different. Not sure. That said, a long time ago I turned off battery optimization for Messenger and haven't seen the waiting on network thing since. I haven't seen any noticeable impact on the battery from it. Perhaps give that a try if you haven't already done so.

I had this problem a long time ago. I solved it by turning off battery optimization for Messenger. I haven't seen the waiting on network thing since. Give it a try. It can't hurt.
apt purge $(dpkg -l | awk '/facebook-messenger/{ print $2 }')

I get this message about twice a day. I'll post a pic of it... but I'll also type it in case someone tries to search for this issue.
Connectivity
There are no data sessions active. Programs connect automatically as needed. To change connection settings, tap Settings.
Anyway I get this message twice a day and it bugs the crap out of me. How can I turn it off? My internet works just fine whenever I need it. Whenever I fire up IE it works great.
Phone: Mogul, WM6.0
Guess nobody knows.
Okay, no idea what's going on with my phone here. Whenever I connect to the internet through any application, HTC weather, Opera, streaming radio, not a problem. It connects without issue. However, sometimes I get this message on my screen: http://www.flickr.com/photos/clewis4u91/3737272578/
I have no idea why this comes up. I have no problems connecting! I have automatic weather updates off, Windows Update set to manually check (however it stopped working a month ago anyways), QuickGPS isn't set to automatic either, as well as my email. Something is trying to connect at some point, but isn't able to.
Normally it wouldn't be a big deal for me, however here's why it's bothering me. This has happened TWICE so far in the past week, disconnecting phone calls. This seems to be happening randomly. I was on a phone call, and I didn't hear anyone talking so I looked at the screen, and that message was displayed. The next day, the same thing happened while on a phone call, to a completely different phone number. Soft reset does not solve the issue.
I have done absolutely no changes to my device or it's settings. I can connect to the internet whenever I want, so the connection settings have to be okay? Doing a quick Google search basically showed me that the people getting the same error, were unable to connect altogether, which is not the case for me. I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks.
Sorry, I left out some phone information. I'm running on a Bell (CDMA) HTC Touch Diamond on Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 using stock ROM.
I get an occasional error that pops up on my phone. I only started getting this after updating to the Sprint 6.5 ROM. I updated from the factory ROM. Here's a Screen shot of my phone. Just click on the image and you can read the message. Anyone know what this means exactly? How can I correct the cause?
Thanks
Yeah I started getting that error too... weird.. Not sure why but its only intermittent for me..
it means your phone had an issue while dialing to connect to the internet, which is classified as a #777 call.
It usually fixes itself however and you can ignore the message. Only take it seriously if it occurs several times in a minute or two, as it means you have trouble connecting to your data service on the server end (Whereas you cant connect to your carrier's data servers. There are however occasions where you HAVE connected, wont receive this error, but wont have internet.)
Gotta love the complexity. Most of the time its just a false alarm though
anyone know of a regedit to disable that "unable to connect to #777" balloon? it always is there in the morning blocking my g-alarm snooze button.
Strange how it only started happening after I upgraded to 6.5. Granted, I've only owned the TP2 for a couple of months prior to this but I never saw any kind of error messages like that before this. And, now that I think about it, I "think" it only seems to happen when I have my phone plugged into the USB port of my computer. I may be wrong on that but it seems that's the only time I remember seeing it.
Whenever I get this error, I check the "Wireless Controls" settings and invariably have to re-check the "Data Connection".
Where do you find the "Wireless Controls" setting on our phones?
seems like I get the error when its is getting weather update , I increase my time for update for now and I am not getting the error.

So I just got the phone a few days ago and I've started to notice some strange happenings. Whenever I get notifications for my apps or messages they always come at the same time. Say I have a text message come in, it will then push facebook or something like that and show messages that I have from the messenger app. Is this normal behavior?
@Demonlinx This has been happening since the first day for me too. I've noticed this only happens when I'm on WiFi, if I'm on data I get my push notifications the moment they happen (all except Google hangouts for some odd reason). I don't have the Facebook app installed but this is a constant annoyance I've been dealing with for a while now, it seems as if when the screen is off its not pulling in data when connected to WiFi, but as soon as I get a text message or turn the screen on my notifications come rushing in all at the same time. Are you on WiFi too when you notice this happening? Or is it all the time?
@elpindian Ok, so I noticed that this happens only when I'm on WiFi as well.. Although it seems intermittent because I've been getting other notifications via a wifi connection, i.e Twitter, Snapchat, etc.. So I'm not sure what is causing this issue. I'll keep trying to mess around with it and see what I come up with.. Are you stock? Do you have connection optimizer turned on? Mine is off. Tl;Dr I only notice this happening sometimes and it only happens (so far) on WiFi.
edit: I found that if I enable WiFi and Mobile Data at the same time it seems to eliminate this issue, I'm trying to test using just WiFi and seeing if the problem still exists.

Try a data reset by dialing ##72786#
@Demonlinx I am stock with no plans on rooting until there is a fully functional AOSP rom out there for our device. I have disabled connection optimizer as well, but haven't turned data off even while on WiFi. Is there a specific setting to do this besides the disabling data option? I never turn my data off since I have unlimited, does connecting to WiFi automatically turn off data? Because I know if I did turn it off I wouldn't be able to receive MMS and I definitely still get all my MMS with no problems.. Snapchat and twitter have delayed notifications when I'm on WiFi but work flawlessly when I'm only on data.
@Soooperstar thanks man but I've been told by a Sprint and Samsung rep before to try that and still I have these issues... Could it maybe be a problem on our router's end? I've noticed that this doesn't happen with every WiFi connection I have; i.e if I'm at my gfs house who has her at&t router vs my Comcast router.. I've also noticed that if my screen is off for more than a couple minutes while connected to WiFi my android wear watch will give me the offline message if I try and interact with it. It's as if the phone stops any internet connection while it's sleeping, somewhat annoying because I can't just walk around the house and expect to receive notifications on my wearable without waking up the phone (phone calls and texts excluded).

Could be..... Kinda hard to troubleshoot. The only one I have a problem with is Tapatalk and XDA app. I think that one may be related
@Soooperstar it's weird, I think it has something to do with the phones deep sleep issues and Sammy has yet to figure out all the bugs. I love the build of this phone but can't stand the software. I'm ready to move on to a Nexus device when the next one releases.
I have Google messages as my default app RCS. It seems my app doesn't work all the time sending or receiving messages with WiFi on. Once I turn off wifi I get my messages. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue. A buddy of mine has the s20 and has the same issue.
Bump. Anybody have this issue on ATT?
I had the same issue on a google pixel and only a factory reset helped me

I friend of mine has the same issue. He did a factory reset and still has the message issue.
using this app on both the z fold 2 and ultra note 20 5g, both unlocked and both on tmo. had them both at launch day. im on wifi virtually all the time i use the app.
I have the same issue with every single app that relies on data - whether that means mobile data or wifi data doesn't even matter on this Samsung. Like twice per hour, I always get a WAVE of notifications. For example, I'll get like 6 snapchats at once, followed by like 2-3 texts every 30 minutes. Oh, and by the way, I have T-Mo... So this, unfortunately, isn't a carrier issue. It is most definitely a phone issue....
This is the first and only phone that I've ever purchased that has this problem. Hell, the phone also doesn't have voicemail support! I've already wiped my device and reinstalled the most recent update... Still have the same issues...
Sucks that I'm stuck with this phone for over the next two years, but this will most definitely be the last Samsung phone that I ever buy lol. When did this company go down the drain??? I used to have a Note 3 and that phone was awesome! But this Note 20 Ultra phone has more software problems than any phone that I've ever seen before...
*Edit* - Forgot to mention that Samsung throws ads onto EVERY single app that you use. I even get all of these Samsung ads on Google Chrome that pop-up and cover the entire screen. Keep in mind that this is happening just after a factory reset.... So there's nothing installed on the phone that can do this. It's just how Samsung works nowadays, sadly...

Yes. What I'm seeing is phantom messages that say "Tap to Download". Tapping does nothing until I turn off Wifi and try again. There doesn't seem to be a 1:1 correspondence of the "tap to download" messages and actual real messages. Sometimes tapping just removes them all, sometimes I get a bunch of text messages that show up.
I've had a Note 20 Ultra and a Fold 2 before my current Note 20 Ultra. I didn't have this problem with either phone, but previously I didn't have a cross flash (i.e., ATT in the CSC, unlocked everywhere else). The Fold 2 wasn't ATT at all, and the previous Note was all ATT flash.
So this issue is widespread and no fix yet besides turning off Wi-Fi.
This is the issue. Just sux. Tap to download does nothing.
I am on Verizon and it happens to me when sending text messages all the time. I read that turning off Wifi calling helps but it doesn't do anything different for me. The weird part is that I can send about 10-15 messages and then all of the sudden they won't send out and the only fix is I have to reboot my phone. Turning off Wifi doesn't do anything for me.

I tried turning off wifi calling too. That didn't fix it for me. The only thing that works is turning wifi off.
Does this only happen with Google Messages or other apps as well.
WiFi Calling and MMS messages on AT&T have been inconsistent for a while now.
It's been all over the AT&T forums for months. AT&T doesn't have any solid answer as to why it fails so much.
Their 5G APN (ATT Enhancedphone) is hit or miss on have the APN Type info correctly populated as well. Should be set to 'default, supl, mms, fota', but occasional it will be blank.

Looks normal.
I find it very frustrating that something so simple has so many issues on AT&T.
I still can't use WiFi calling and receive MMS messages. Sometimes it hangs even on WiFi, so like you, I have to shut it off completely to get the messages.
