Adding bands - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

I have the sprint note 5 and i unlocked it to use with att but i read that band 17 is missing for lte is there a way to add the band onto my note 5

could i flash att's version of modem to my note and would that fix it?

It's not needed. Add APN settings. I have a n920p and am currently on AT&T w full 4g LTE speeds. Add apn settings and so a speedtest app test and see what you're getting. We may need to tweak band priority a little but that should get you started.

Google straight talk apn settings. Then manually enter those settings on your phone.
Do NOT flash anything to your phone. You'll only mess up your phone. That's not how firmware flashing works.

[Q] Using Verizon S3 on AT&T network 3g speed

Okay, I have a verzizon Galaxy S3 running on At&T GoPhone service. It is a straight talk pretty much. Without rooting, I was able to put in the APN for at&t and I was able to use EDGE speeds ONLY. Now, I tried rooting and using the Titanium Backup w/ APN Manager method to fix it and get 3G speeds, but it did NOT work either. I am only getting EDGE speeds. I know this is some how possible..It has to be, if not then darn. My question, is there any possible way to get 3G speeds with a verizon galaxy s3 using AT&T as my carrier?
I have searched, rooted, and I have spent the last three days attempting to figure this out.
The phone IS UNLOCKED already, it is a Global phone, so I know it can use CDMA & GSM. AT&T is only GSM I understand that..

Pretty sure edge is all you're going to get at this point. Just because this phone is a global phone doesn't necessarily mean the data is going to work at its full capability.
The gsm 3g network on att is likely a different band then what the Verizon s3 is open to. I know for sure that the 4g lte bands are different and this phone won't recognize the att 4g network.
If both bands aren't available on this phone, there's no way to get your phone to recognize their mobile data network.

Additionally, what I would do is sell this phone and get an att s3. They should be right around the same value and you'll have a much better experience with that phone.

Verizon M8 on At&t/Cricket

I have rooted and s-off. Used the guide to enable additional bands. I used NV values 65626 and could get LTE in some areas but not in others. I'm starting to think it's radio related. Any suggestions?

what bands, specifically, did you enable?
Bands 2, 4, 5 and 17. I'm located in the Raleigh Durham area of NC. When it was connected to LTE I used the LTE discovery app and confirmed the uplink and downlink freqs. 1900/2100 if memory serves me correctly.
Currently using the VZW M8 on Cricket. I'm getting HSDPA but no LTE.
But I have no complaints. Phone is awesome and mobile data is working flawlessly.
Yes it's radio related. Verizon and ATT do not use all the same frequencies and bands.

Hi,
I tried to read any info about it. But I don't know....
Here is my theory: The Google Play edition (GPe) is open to any LTE channels. I know that you can turn the verizon M8 into GPe M8... (I don't know if the phone can operate on Verizon after all :S )
So hopefully that can work, but I NEVER TRIED IT!
So If some GURU can help us that would be grate. And also a "How to" -from the very beginning ( Stock rom, s-on, non rooted, etc) would be nice too.
Thank you
Ps.: I was only modifying Samsung, Sony, Motorola, Zte before. This HTC "magic" is totally new for me

I am in Virginia. Right now using a stock Verizon M8 and I do get AT&T LTE signal( download speed is around 10M, upload is 7M. Phone info said the network is LTE).
I guess my area using band 4 for AT&T LTE.
I am considering enable band 17. If you are available, maybe you should share some thoughts of your Band-unlockin process and your LTE signal situation.
Thank you.

I went to an ATT store inquiring about moving from VZW. They said my M8 would NOT work on their network. Who can i contact at ATT to get the straight scoop and move? I am in Wilmington NC.
Very competitive Verizon MVNOs are starting to emerge, have you compared coverage in your area? I'm on ROK Mobile and it's freaking awesome.

Most of the ATT guys are clueless, not matter they are in store or over the phone. Just ignore them.
All you need is get an att nano sim card, put it in your verizon m8. Boom! You could text and call now!
And then you need to edit APN settings to get data working. Go to settings, Mobile data, Network settings, GCM/UMTS Options, Access point names, and add a new APN:
Name ATT Phone
APN phone
Proxy Not set
Port Not set
Username Not set
Password Not set
Server Not set
MMSC http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port 80
MCC 310
MNC 410
Authentication Type None
APN type default,mms,supl,hipri
APN protocol IPv4
Bearer Unspecified
save this APN and select it to use. Wait 30 sec to 1 minutes, Boom, you would have H+ or 4G LTE depending your location. For most area you would get H+.
You don't even need to root !
im on edge slow slow slow
I get HSPA+ on my stock M8. My APN is "phone"
I have GoPhone account with AT&T and I get LTE in some areas, nothing done to my phone, stock Verizon m8, apn set to nxtgenphone , I get HSPA most of the time, but I do get LTE in some locations here

Not sure if international unlock is different but ##72786# in dialer will reset data provisioning to factory without needing msl and only resetting data configuration without resetting phone or user files. The 3282 one will allow u to view data settings without msl but msl needed to change anything, some custom roms/kernels have this bypassed allowing data settings accessible without msl. Id try scrtn first (72786)

Or signal guard app may be worth trying if rooted as it will have an option for radio locking where you can change preferred network type. The app also can be used unrooted just not sure what that is like as I havent tried unrooted.
Is there any option to learn msl in my phone ?

You'll have to contact sprint, if you call care they will sometimes give it to you, or if you know someone at a store they might be able to look it up for you
If you want to root or are rooted there are other options as well, but without the trouble of that it should be easier to get it from sprint. They do have terms for it which can be found somewhere on their site, I'd google sprint unlock policy. You will most likely come across workarounds as well from the same search results.

If u r rooted or would rather not gamble your luck with the various different service reps (all working for the same company) http://idoneapps.com would be, in my opinion, the most simple and surebet option available to obtaining the msl, among several other options that I believe would be a tremendous help to you. There may be other methods out there, however, just from my experience with the same model phone and whether marshmallow or lollipop it has without a doubt worked successfully.

And apologies if the link is not within the rules as for being free or whatever, I just wasnt sure how to go about it as it had once been posted on a forum on here being shared for free and was requested by idoneapps to be removed so in respect to that I only felt comfortable pointing in the honest direction, what you decide from there is entirely up to you.
My friends, i have got msl code now and i checked setting.
I have seen that i havent lte 3 7 20 bans , so i cant see lte signal in my note 5.
How can i add this lte bands for my note 5?
Is it possible?
Sent from my SM-N920P using XDA-Developers mobile app
The bands supported by the n920p are bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 25, 26, 41
Dear my friend.
I can see band3 setting but it says not supported.
I think, can it solve with new kernel or porting new firmware

I have entered this 72786 code and reset but i cant see my network now, emergency call only. It is sprint phone but unlocked to sim free by sprint. I tried this code because i also have problem with Lte.
It is note 5 n920p.
What should i do?

LG G Style H634 unlocked, T-Mobile blocked the phone to use it's data?

Hello, I have my H634 (from Cricket) unlocked.
and recently switched to T-Mobile.
I know the phone might not 100% support T-Mobile network but want to give a try.
so I have put the T-Mobile Sim and I manually punch in the APN information.
Then I tried to access internet and it goes to T-Mobile website says my data plan not support this device.
Sounds like since no T-Mobile connect and it goes to it's partner connection but they refused to let you use it (since tmobile have to pay).
any idea I can force to enable to network connection in this case?
Did you call T-Mobile?
I thought Cricket,Verizon,Sprint,Boost was a cdma company not gsm like Tmobile,Metro,AT&T.

installing uk official rom on sprint

I bought a galaxy s5 sprint and i know its us model so what i want to do is i would like to install uk official rom or CyanogenMod rom which is made for uk not the sprint version.
I just want to know can i do that i dont want the sprint version as i am living in the uk and i didnt know the phone is us model so now i am stuck with it. Would appreciate your help
if its a G900P, then youre going to be best served going with the KLTESPR version of cyanogenmod. Technically, you can flash any ROM on it as long as you use the kltespr baseband, kernel and radio on it, but that can get sticky. Best bet is just to find a stripped down version of an AOSP ROM and install it. Itll make it as un-sprinty as possible

ok thanks for the info and so far its running fine the only problem i am having is i dont have 4g it only stays on 3g and i have tried cyanogenmod same thing but then i get hspa as well but no 4g, how can i get 4g?
what model # is it? its either the G900p, G900v, G900a or G900t (most likely). I ask because it could just be the data icons. My G900P only showed the 3G icon when it was running hspa+ until i changed some stuff around. BTW, hspa+ is 4G. LTE (long term evolution) is a made up term, not a name of a cell technology. 4G was first called that by sprint when they used ClearWire on the Evo4G. LTE+ is a different thing, which the S5 isnt capable of. If youre getting the h+ icon, then youre already on the right path. You might need to enable the right bands on the phone to get the full speed(which isnt a newb task)
Also, it doesnt really matter in the slightest if its a US model, since they all have the exact same hardware(minus the xynos processor versions, which havent really been discussed much here at all). A little discussion and changing stuff can get it to where it needs to be, of that, im sure.
---------- Post added at 09:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:38 PM ----------
another thing to note, what carrier are you using? Orange? Vodafone? Are they strictly GSM (like most EU carriers)? if so, then you shouldnt be having much trouble at all. The SSU.apk and a custom ROM that allows you to change APN settings should get you there.

also, i recommend MOAR 7.0. Its a very smooth ROM. I havent used any CM ROMs in quite a while because the gear 2 neo on my wrinst wont pair with CM ROMs, not sure why tho. MOAR is TW based, but its an excellent ROM. I think the problem youre having is the bands in the radio of the phone. ok thanks bro i will try the link you posted and see if it works
Forgive me if this is too obvious, but have you gone into Settings -> More Networks -> Mobile networks -> Network mode and picked an appropriate mode for your network (presumably GSM/UMTS)? And did yo adjust the roaming settings?
Also, the G900P was built with a focus on working well on Sprint's (USA) CDMA network. The G900P has some hardware capability to work on non-USA networks, but not great hardware capability like some of the other Galaxy S5 variants. It's possible that there just aren't any compatible 4G networks where you live.
Here's are the frequencies/protocols the G9000P supports:
LTE: Band 25/26/41 CDMA 1x/EVDO Rev.A: 800/1900MHz; HSPA+/UMTS: 850/900/1900/2100MHz; GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz

actually, all USA S5s support all LTE bands. Its not a cakewalk to add them all to the phone, as the modem is what is limiting access to all bands (Sammy want to see more phones), here is the thread on how to do so
