I have rooted and s-off. Used the guide to enable additional bands. I used NV values 65626 and could get LTE in some areas but not in others. I'm starting to think it's radio related. Any suggestions?

what bands, specifically, did you enable?
Bands 2, 4, 5 and 17. I'm located in the Raleigh Durham area of NC. When it was connected to LTE I used the LTE discovery app and confirmed the uplink and downlink freqs. 1900/2100 if memory serves me correctly.
Currently using the VZW M8 on Cricket. I'm getting HSDPA but no LTE.
But I have no complaints. Phone is awesome and mobile data is working flawlessly.
Yes it's radio related. Verizon and ATT do not use all the same frequencies and bands.

Hi,
I tried to read any info about it. But I don't know....
Here is my theory: The Google Play edition (GPe) is open to any LTE channels. I know that you can turn the verizon M8 into GPe M8... (I don't know if the phone can operate on Verizon after all :S )
So hopefully that can work, but I NEVER TRIED IT!
So If some GURU can help us that would be grate. And also a "How to" -from the very beginning ( Stock rom, s-on, non rooted, etc) would be nice too.
Thank you
Ps.: I was only modifying Samsung, Sony, Motorola, Zte before. This HTC "magic" is totally new for me

I am in Virginia. Right now using a stock Verizon M8 and I do get AT&T LTE signal( download speed is around 10M, upload is 7M. Phone info said the network is LTE).
I guess my area using band 4 for AT&T LTE.
I am considering enable band 17. If you are available, maybe you should share some thoughts of your Band-unlockin process and your LTE signal situation.
Thank you.

I went to an ATT store inquiring about moving from VZW. They said my M8 would NOT work on their network. Who can i contact at ATT to get the straight scoop and move? I am in Wilmington NC.
Very competitive Verizon MVNOs are starting to emerge, have you compared coverage in your area? I'm on ROK Mobile and it's freaking awesome.

Most of the ATT guys are clueless, not matter they are in store or over the phone. Just ignore them.
All you need is get an att nano sim card, put it in your verizon m8. Boom! You could text and call now!
And then you need to edit APN settings to get data working. Go to settings, Mobile data, Network settings, GCM/UMTS Options, Access point names, and add a new APN:
Name ATT Phone
APN phone
Proxy Not set
Port Not set
Username Not set
Password Not set
Server Not set
MMSC http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port 80
MCC 310
MNC 410
Authentication Type None
APN type default,mms,supl,hipri
APN protocol IPv4
Bearer Unspecified
save this APN and select it to use. Wait 30 sec to 1 minutes, Boom, you would have H+ or 4G LTE depending your location. For most area you would get H+.
You don't even need to root !
im on edge slow slow slow
I get HSPA+ on my stock M8. My APN is "phone"
I have GoPhone account with AT&T and I get LTE in some areas, nothing done to my phone, stock Verizon m8, apn set to nxtgenphone , I get HSPA most of the time, but I do get LTE in some locations here

I'm having trouble finding a definitive answer to this so hopefully someone knows about this stuff. My carrier uses SIM technology and it's 3G uses 1700 and 2100 bands. I'm wanting to find out which of the newer/higher end android phones I could use for their service and actually be able to use both bands. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Those are T-Mobile bands so you are more fortunate than me. You can use the amazing new HTC Sensation with those bands. Unfortunately my carrier, AT&T, doesn't use those bands and I'm not able to yet get a Sensation. You can pretty much choose any T-Mobile phone. They have LG GX2, Samsung Galaxy S 4G and the HTC Sensation and the Sensation is HTC's flagship phone and highly valued.
Like he said, basically any T-Mobile 3G device will work for you.
I notice most of their phones don't have 1700 listed on their bands though. Does that mean I can or can't use them?

Yes, you can use them with full 3G speed...4G if your service provides it.
By the way, you'll need to unlock any T-Mobile branded phone. Simple to do just by calling T-Mobile CS for the sim unlock code.
So the phone I buy just needs to have either one of the two 3g bands I take it? I guess I screwed up because I bought an unlocked Inspire off eBay and when I put my sim card in I got no data at all, not even edge. So if I was to find an Incredible S unlocked I could use that correct?

Well...Edge isn't locked down like HSPA (3G) is. As long as the phone is a GSM version, Edge should work fine, if the service is putting it out. What you likely are needing to do with your Inspire is input the proper APN settings. And also make sure the mobile data is enabled.
Go to "Setting" > "Wireless and Networks" > "Mobile settings" and see if the top box is checked. If not, check it. Then, still in that same menu, go to "Access Point Names" and see what is there. If there isn't an APN there relating to your carrier, make one by tapping the menu button and choosing new APN. Input the correct carrier values from the list in the link below. Once done, tap the menu button and choose "Save". Make sure that new APN you just created is selected...usually a small green dot to the right side of it.

I told you wrong for the Inspire about the menu system. I just booted mine up and had a look. You will find the data checkbox in "Settings" > "Wireless and Networks" labeled "Mobile network".

The company I'm trying to use this with is called iWireless. They aren't on that list but I had found the apn settings by googling it and I did input them just as you suggested and selected them with the little green dot and no such luck. I even rebooted the phone twice. I'm sad cuz I love the Inspire, I rooted it and put a Sense 3D rom on it that I'm in love with. I want to stay with the carrier though cause they have the cheapest thing around, $50 a month unlimited everything including minutes, data, mms & sms. Can't beat it. But there's not many devices as well supported as the Inspire and I really can't stand anything but HTC after having a Motorola Cliq and Samsung Epic both of which I hated.

Yeah I did use those same settings on my Inspire and no such luck. I did just happen to run across this on the iWireless website however.
"Will any 3G GSM phones get 3G speeds on the i wireless 3G network?
No. Our 3G network will only support AWS/UMTS 1700/2100 banded phones. 3G devices that only have the 2100 band will not be compatible on our 3G network."
http://www.iwireless.com/promoform.asp?promo=3G
So am I wrong in taking that to mean that whatever phone I buy actually has to support both 1700 and 2100 bands in order for me to get 3G upload and download speeds? If so my options will be very limited I'm sure. :\
Okay, so from what I've learned between reading and what you've told me and what I know I want I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I'm gonna want an Incredible S or a Sensation as those are pretty much the only HTC phones that appear to cover 2100 (band 1) and 1700/2100 (band 4) which is what I believe that I need. Tell me if you think I'm wrong.

Strange. That seems to be really locked down. I really can't advise you reliably. I do know that T-Mobile uses the 1700/2100 frequencies and that the Sensation, with only the 2100 portion, will work on it. If your network requires both bands, anything I say might lead you in error. Sorry for the lack of help.

It sounds like iWireless may not support AWS bands though, 1700/2100 is what they use, but doesn't necessarily mean it's AWS.
GSM bands will work without issue, assuming the device is unlocked.

Okay, so heres the deal. I currently have a Skyrocket running CM 10.1 with the UVMC6 radio on Net10 T-Mobile SIM. I my home town of West Bend, WI I get H+ and decent speeds of about 6Mbps down. When I'm in Milwaukee, WI I occasionally get "DC" (Dual Carrier?) with some pretty impressive downspeeds of 20Mbps. I have LTE enabled on my phone but I have never gotten a 4G or LTE indication when in Milwaukee. Which I believe is a T-Mobile LTE area. So my question is if I switch to AT&T SIM on Net10, will I get 4G LTE speeds? It is not specifically indicated on Net10's site that I will, but they sell LTE phones.
Thanks!
It all depends on what net 10 (or whatever) are providing...I doubt those MVNO networks offer LTE from the patent networks at this moment, though I might be mistaken...That 20 mbps you get is HSPA+(DC is HSPA+21 x 2 = HSPA+42)...They sell LTE phones doesn't mean anything, most modern phones nowadays are LTE phones....
However, if you join T-Mobile(T-Mobile proper that is ) and in an area which is one of the official LTE launch cities, you can connect to it using the stock SR radio...

Thanks! I was wondering how I could be getting speeds that fast without LTE. Also, is HSPA+ is rated for 42Mbps then how fast is LTE rated for and is the 20Mbps down that I am getting relatively high for cellular speeds these days?
It depends on tons of factors...HSPA+ at 20mbps is faster than the LTE I get....The only real plus to the LTE is the excellent low ping latency...

If the frequencies are the same as Rogers / AT&T then there's no reason for you to not have it. Try doing more troubleshooting.

That's what I figured, I mean it's an ATT phone after-all so if should work with their LTE. But after some troubleshooting I discovered that my phone will not enable LTE for whatever reason. I will go into the settings menu and select GSM/WCDMA/LTE and it just auto switches back to GSM/WCDMA preferred. I am currently running CM 10.1.3 RC2 with UCMC1 radio, so I will try re-flashing that radio to see if it helps, but I don't know what else would cause this.

Indeed. Also of note, Tmo LTE only works on a more recent SIM. I tried a cut down 5 year old SIM and no LTE.
Thanks for the info!
I'll admit that I didn't do proper research prior to buying the unlocked device. After reading more into T-Mobile bands, they said that by the end of this year they will be releasing band 2 which is the 700mhz. Since this model supports that I'm guessing I can get lte?
Please clarify this for me. Thanks.

AT&T SIM on VZW S6
Hello,
I have the same question how AT&T SIM would behave on VZW S6.
1. Which APN Are you using? Are you using phone or pta APN?
2. When receiving incoming calls, does the format look like example: +8085551212 missing 1?
your response is appreciated!!!

I got 4g lte .. I used both settings and when I make calls out it drops to 1x and then when receive calls I have 3G. Seems like the pta settings works better didn't see and h or h+ which. Did on the phone apn settings. I have a Vzw iPhone since I work there thought the s6 would be easy since know the turbo works. There's something missing and can't find it. Everything works I do get the +then the number tho. But haven't had issues sending or receiving texts. Just it should drop to 4g when on the phone and should work whether I get or receive calls. Minor issues happening I did switch it to gsm instead of world that may have been why h or h+ didn't occur with pta. I'll update what I figure out if you all do so as well
i remember seeing it somewhere, but can't find it when i need it, how do i permanently disable the non-verizon sim warning when using any other sim in the vzw gs6?
(i have succeeded on a one time basis by force stopping activation agent, but there's a permanent fix if i'm not mistaken)
Verizon variant doesn't support AT&T's original LTE layer which is Band 17. So you won't see LTE on your Verizon variant unless AT&T has either Band 2 or Band 4 deployed in your market.

I think Band 17 is the issue. Most of AT&T LTE is on Band 17.
I am currently connected to LTE (Band 4) on my Verizon G6, using a AT&T sim.
I used the LTE Discovery app to get this info.

Verizon variant doesn't support AT&T's original LTE layer which is Band 17. So you won't see LTE on your Verizon variant unless AT&T has either Band 2 or Band 4 deployed in your market.

^^^^Pretty much confirmed what milan03 said.
Hi All,
I was recently on holidays in the USA which using my Photon Q sim modded by Cornholio I was able to get LTE on T-Mobile. This was only in areas where they have re-farmed 1900 mhz (band 2) to LTE. I'm not sure if this makes a difference but I also changed nv 6828 for 1900mz bands 2 & 25. So in theory LTE should work on AT&T where they use 1900 mhz band 2 LTE. AT&T was was coming up a lot when I was doing a network search. It is listed as AT&T 4g.
Regards,
Sebastian

I've never played with any of this, but I'm an AT&T user in US... what exactly are you saying to try setting in the phone in order to try to get LTE on AT&T.... and if there's any way to know if AT&T is using that band in a particular area?

Hi,
This is what I did with my phone to get LTE was the following: Using the phone dialer
*#*#4636#*#* and in phone information menu change data to LTE/GSM/WCDMA
##3282# and in the LTE menu make sure that you have LTE as enabled, if not edit the value to enabled. You need to use the msl code for your phone to do this. I have an app to do this if you need.
To see if AT&T 1900 LTE is available in your area, go into settings, mobile network settings, network operators and choose the option search networks. A list of available networks will come up. If you have AT&T 1900 LTE band 2 available, this will be listed as AT&T 4G. Tap on this and you should be able to get LTE. The Photon Q lists LTE as 4G in the status bar on the top of the phone.
Hope that this is some help
