Hey everyone
I decided to encrypt my device a week ahead of a trip to China.
I cleaned up my phone, and clean flashed CM14, then charged to full, and in security settings, went to encrypt the device.
It rebooted to a screen with an android figure that says "encrypting. Wait while your phone is being encrypted. Time remaining XX.XX.
Initially the time remaining was about 15 minutes, but once it reached zero, the process has not ended. It says time remaining 00.00, the bar is still scrolling across the screen, and it's been 6 hours now.
If I force a reboot, am I likely to lose my data? Has anyone else had this issue?

So, my phone reset itself after a freeze and I did a hard restart. On bootup, it went into recovery and did a factory reset. Once I got everything set back up I noticed when I pick up my phone it makes me use my pattern lock rather than the fingerprints I set up. It does it constantly, unlike what the security protocol says (after 24 hours of not being used). Any ideas?
I may have it figured out. I'll update for sure, but I had AC Display installed and it seems to be cooperating now that I've uninstalled. I'll update at the end of the day to be sure
Hello everyone!
I'm new here and not allowed to ask anywhere else on this forum so here I go (please, bear with me, since I need your help):
Five-Six weeks ago I decided to flash LineageOS 14.01 on my BQ Aquaris M5. Everything was fine, only I noticed that when switching ON / OFF the mobile phone (I've always done when going to sleep for the next day) the battery suffered like never did when it had Android 7 installed... (for example, when I turned it off with 65% of battery, the next day, when turned ON is showed 5%...)
I just decided to turn on PLANE MODE instead when going to sleep and forgetting about it ... until 2 week ago, when I noticed that even when fully charged, quickly the power used to drop from 95% to 65% in 30 mintues... Or I found out that the battery was completely dead after 4-5 hours.
Then it came the Jun 9th LOS update. My battery showed 87% of battery, so I trusted it and went for the update. In the middle of the process the battery died a couple of times (it went crazy, it reset itself a couple of times) so I plugged it to the charger and tried to start all over again. When finished I noticed that when using some app, or when starting from sleeping, it reset itself a couple of times... So yesterday I ordered a new battery in Amazon (still to be delivered).
[Just told you all this boring story to put you in situation, it may be related ]
Today, I've realized I can't receive any phone calls. In order to make a phone call, I go to CONTACTS but the typical menu with the red button to hang-up, the option to display the keypad, to record the phone call, etc. that menu is missing. I had to turn the mobile off in order to kill the phone call. Also, when I receive a phone call, I hear the call, but there is not menu to answer it.
SO this evening I decided to SWIPE CACHE & DALVIK, but this did not solve the problem.
I decided to SWIPE it all (as new), install again LOS 14.1 June9th update, and the problem persists.
I thought that, perhaps, this update (June9th) was somehow faulty to my mobile, so I downloaded and flashed the LOS May26th update.... AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS! :crying:
What else can I do to fix this? I love my Google Free OS, please, tell me there's a way to fix this... :fingers-crossed:
Nobody, uh?
Well, I finally decided to perform a hard reset going back to Android 7. Everything works now, even the battery seems to last longer.
My phone died last Wednesday and has continuously proceeded to boot loop ever since. Not sure if this is due to mother board issues, a recent update, lack of space on device, or malfunctioning apps?
I don't think its a motherboard issue though. I was pretty much at capacity 29gb usable of 32gb. I recently downloaded instagram and every time I used it the the system UI send a warning message and proceeded to crash every time, but the phone never boot-looped? I had recently updated to 8.1.0 and after looking at the android loading screen over 1000x now, I can tell that the animation is a little different from before.
The bootloop that I am experiencing isn't a load then restart loop it's just an endless load. With the the google 'G' and an endless loading bar beneath swaying side to side for hours on end.
Unfortunately I haven't backed up my phone in more than 5 months. I was wondering if there was anything I can do to get my data back (i.e. media, numbers, texts etc.) or potentially get my phone working again with the data intact?
I can boot into recovery mode perfectly. In the past google had a "clear system cache feature" on V7.1 I think? but that was phased out with more recent updates leaving me with the option of only factory resetting the phone. My phone is not rooted. I was wondering if there was anything I could do in the recovery screen that could mimic the clear system cache feature? Like writing some sort of command line or something? Or anything else that I could do to get my data back and my phone working again?
What are my options?

I think you can clear cache in fastboot. Not sure why you would continue to use an app that is crashing system.

That feature was taken out of the boot-loader by google in the past few updates. I'm currently on 8.1.0.
I was wondering if there was an alternative method that I could take in fast boot/recovery mode that could possibly give me the same cache clearing result? Possibly some sort of adb method or something? Also unfortunately my boot loader is locked. So If I can't clear the cache, I was wondering what my current options are as far as backing up the device before I inevitably have to do a factory reset are?
Hi!
Stock Rom, no root. Build: A6003_22_190911
I'm not sure what the root cause is. For seemingly no reason, my device started rebooting randomly (once every few hours, sometimes minutes in between) when starting apps or interacting with them. To remedy the problem I wiped the cache partition, but the reboots are still as frequent and in addition, apps randomly close/crash.
The reboots seem to be soft reboots or sth, since I don't have to enter the SIM PIN again after they happen.
I'm not quite sure, but maybe it was the most recent update? I did it a few days ago. I waited quite some time before updating.
Can you help me find a solution to this issue?
Cheers,
reijin
Are you root? What rom you using? Are yoy using edxposed?
It's the stock Rom without any modifications. I'm not root.
I've been having the same issue as you since a couple days ago when I got the phone. I don't think it's the update itself, because I was having issues even setting up the phone before I even got to update it
Interesting. I think I will try to acquire a debug log, but as of now the crashes have become less and also less reproducible. It's kind of a mistery to me what's going on.
Well, it's been ok for a while, but I just had 3 reboots in 7 minutes. No idea how I can acquire a log if it's so inconsistent. Is there a last error log or sth that I can try to access?
Do you have the google assistant power button shortcut enabled?
I was experiencing this exact behavior until I disabled that option, and now I get multiple days without a crash/reboot.
Hello there. I think my phone's been compromised. It's been acting up since my last OS update. I have a OnePlus 9 LE2115, currently running oxygen os 13.1.
I was searching through apps because something's draining my battery and i noticed that all of my apps are always running even tho I've turned them all off manually and turned off background data usages. I can't force stop on about 60 percent of my apps anymore.
Upon further inspection, i found a few system apps I've never seen before and cannot find any info on when googling.
App #1- Metis ( i cannot find any info on this at all or delete this app but i have disabled it but i don't think that did anything) when i googled 'Metis ui' this is something that caught my eye... (https://github.com/europeana/metis-ui/blob/develop/package-lock.json) i don't read code so I'm not sure what it even is but it's the only thing i saw that might be relevant to what's installed?
App#2- media:: 10065 ( it doesn't show up as an app normally, just when 'show system' apps on my apps list in settings.
App#3-i think it's from when i installed TikTok on my phone but have since deleted it, but as you can see the 'musically' file was found on my phone after TikTok app was deleted.
I'll attach screenshot of what I'm seeing... Idk what to do. Can you please help me with this?
I was in the same situation with my op9 after update to 13.1 The absolute only way I could achieve proper battery life and it was from a suggestion out of the oneplus community. Factory reset fixed everything. Now I'm getting 22-30 hours off charger and up to 7 hrs Sot. This will fix your issues as well. It stinks but is what has to be done.
Generally, the recommendation is to factory reset after OTA. Sometimes bugs pop up and factory reset fixes them. I have had a few myself lately. Anyways, if it still doesn't fix your issues, I recommend to use MSM Tool to revert back to factory firmware. It will take you back to OOS11. You can then OTA all the way upto latest one. Then do a factory reset and start using the phone.
You could first try to keep device plugged in and charging 30 min to an hour after it's completely full charging to optimize apps See if this works before having to reset device .

I've had it at a full charge and it will last a little longer but all my apps are still running in the background. And it takes so long for my fast charger to charge up my phone too. I was hoping i didn't have to factory reset but... I guess if it's the only thing that can be done for this. I've had to resort to fingerprint locking every app to see if would stop the problem. It didn't. Well, here goes nothing. Time to backup my data. I'll come back after my reset and update. Thank you for your help guys!
If you only started having these issues after updating to 13.1, then its best you do a factory reset. Its not uncommon for weird issues to happen such as battery drain. I once lost the ability to use 5G after an update and a factory reset fixed it. If you believe your phone might be compromised, well a factory reset will fix that too.
