D5803 with 23.0.A.2.105 installed - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am still on 4.4.4
I have read many threads, and Sony seems to be deliberately confusing things.
Is there any way I can load a 6.x version on this phone? My old Z3 Compaq was the Asian version, and auto-updated to Marshmellow. Batter life was great. Battry life on this one is utter crap.

Epade S90 'NEO' - modable? Experts required

So I bought a fantastic new phone when my windows one had a hard fall... for £40!! Epade S90 Branded 'Jcomm NEO' (A what??) Dual sim, dual core, fm radio etc.
Still cant get over the value, but im now wondering if its flashable/moddable?
Its completely unlocked, no network, even the serial is 123456789ABCDE
Has some sort of semi stock rom on there, no branding
How would I know if it is?
Runs really nice but im always tinkering
current details:
BASEBAND version MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V5.P3,2012/09/10
Kernel:
3.0.13
[email protected] #1

Build Number
V11M_NEO_F02
I'm currently useing the same mobile phone, it's flashable, you can bulid your own CWM recovery using MTK Droid tools. There is even a TWRP recovery v2.4.1.0. at this forum. CWM gave me some backup problems, TWRP seems to be stable.
There are some custom ROMs on some chinese forumse, use Google.
Lewa seems to be pretty good.
I have terrible battery life on my N002, how's yours?

Thanks for that - what model are you listing it by - I try to search google etc. using the above info but i just get Chinese sales websites. im guessing as mines a Jcomm, its rebranded accordingly but the underlying phone is a neo, epade s90
The battery is fine on mine, much better than the Windows phone I smashed by accident and hence this replacement. I have an 1850mah but ive seen 2200+ on ebay, maybe grab one of those?
Impressed for £40! Others are buying them now they've seen mine
It should be NEO model N002.
Are you using one or two SIM cards?
Can you please provide a link for that 2200+ battery, I would appreciate it.

Are you just lobbing the rom onto your sdcard and flashing with CQM then?
I can see I can get into recovery mode ok.
its all rooted and unlocked so not much else I need to do I don't think, just make sure I have a backup (it takes ages)
im not finding any roms on that site - are there no decent english sites?
Im trying to find roms for generic mk65777...
may give up!
cyanogenmod says device unsupported when i run the install
I've also just brought a Neo N002 for £40.
The "Epade S90" referes to a discontinued model but the battery fits the Neo.
Or something like that
Ive now got half a dozen different n002 Roms on my SD...
Just Google "neo n002 Roms"
You will get a lot of Chinese sale sites selling the phone in the Google results but there are at least a dozen good sites (in Chinese) that have various Roms for this great phone.
Best one I've tried and am currently using is a BBk OS.
Looks a bit like cyanogenmod.
There is a good Sony ROM, and a Samsung/touchwiz rom that I found very laggy.
Just be aware that some Roms take ages to download from these sites and some are unflashable in cwm due to code 7 errors.
Couple of points-The makers advertisments claim the Neo has a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and 1gb ram.
It actually has a 1.0 GHz dual core processor and 442 mb (335 usable) ram.
Why the makers need to fib is beyond me.
One the back cover of my Neo, it says "with neo team sense"
This is obviously a reference to some people claiming the Neo to be a "clone" of an HTC ONE X.
The Neo looks nothing like an HTC one.
I'm more inclined to think the Neo is more like a Moto G IMHO.
Anyway, Good luck with the ROM hunting

[Completed] [Q] S8500: Lollipop 5.0 or 5.0.2 or Omni 5.1 - your experiences

Hi everybody,
currently I am using Android 4 (OMNI) on my Wave S8500 next to Bada (still using Bada sometimes since I ve got the livelong version of Route66).
I appriaciate the possibility to have both OS installed and ready for usage in parallal but I appreciate even more the usage of Android OS from SD card instead of internal memory since it is way faster!
Unfortunately the accu capacity when running on Android is only 1 to 2 days while compared with Bada 2.0 and similar usage pattern it lasts one entire week! (What a pitty that samsung did not take any benefit from having such a promising OS together with such a volume of devices sold mobiles, TVs, tablets whatever.)
In addition I've random freezes quite unreproducable which makes using Android quite unreliable. But all in all I am quite satisfied and really deeply grateful that Android for my wave even exists! I need to use it above all for calendar synchronisation (and also whatsapp meanwhile).
No I came across the possibilities of having version 5 of android to be used on S8500. But I could not find any suitable answers which version to go?
The one described here in (dev-thread) seems to be still in some early stages. Something similar seems to be the case for this version while non-working parts are partly mentioned.
I also found this description but without any additional information!
Does anybody have any hint or idead or suggestion for which version to go or whether number 5 is still not mature enough to be used as daily standard?
What are your experiences or suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Bye
Hm, seems the upgrade/update links are all just for surveys! What a !xO%...
Hi,

Sony Xperia Z — New Android and Z5 User...

Morning all,
I have a Z5 being delivered tomorrow
I've been a Windows Phone user for the past 4 years, and prior to that iPhone, but never android - this is a new adventure!!
I have a few questions below, but mostly i'd just like people to post any tips for a new user that might be specific to the Z5 - there are loads of 'new android user' guides around but they all seem generic and quite low level...
Things that i'm interested in:
1) Is marshmallow out yet? If not, when can I expect it and how will i get it
2) What is rooting, and what benefits does it really give me?
2a) Can I install stock android on the Xperia Z5 by rooting? People seem to tell me that Stock is better than the stuff added by some manufacturers...
3) I'm primarily a microsoft services user (Outlook.com Email & Calendar / OneDrive / MS Band) - am I going to be able to as fully integrate these things as they were on Windows Phone?
Thanks!

Hi.
1- more than likely you'll have to plug it in to a pc to get the update
2- root gives you access to the system, on the Z5 i personally wouldn't bother yet
2a - Sony is pretty much stock and not full of bloat
3- they have apps available so i assume all will be good

Can I ask why you say not to bother on the Z5 (and why 'yet')?
Just trying to fully understand the pros and cons

Better to wait for root for locked bootloader, because you will need to unlock it if you want to root it now. Sony really loves to put their drm keys in there and if you unlock it, you'll lose the camera algorithms, bionz engine, x-reality and many more features. I prefer waiting than unlocking the bootloader.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to add locks teen widgets? Reading around it seems this was disabled in marshmallow...

RIP XZs Developer

I don't see any updates for Cusrom, are these XZs outdated? I do not understand
its not specific for XZs,
over all SONY has same treatment from developer side!
reasons?
there are many but one MAJOR reason in my view is
sony xperia is not popular device and low sales, less users, lower the intent to develop anything
if they market well today and boost their customer base! , Xperia Z days will come back!
Miss Old Days :crying:
Miss back on Owned X10 Mini Pro great days, when Kitkat and JB was coming, many Develop is there...
also the when Owned Xperia SP, when Lolipop and Marshmellow was coming, many Dev is there...
I dont understand, since Nougat coming and now Oreo and Pie exist... Sony Dev one by one start going rest and gone...
:crying:
Sony still provides AOSP Pie version for Xperia XZs despite Sony will never giving out any official upgrades for this device.
Right now, I'm currently working with AOSP Pie for XZs and I managed to boot the device with Android Pie version. Building with Linux on Windows 10 could be really pain because Linux on Win10 is not fully virtual environment where some building progress will be stalled at the middle of the progress while I'm thinking to reinstall Ubuntu back on my PC after using Arch Linux for a while.
Anyway, I can't post the Pie ROM here right now because I want to rebuild it to make it better without progress stalling issues.

Here's what I found when googling this :
no more getdroidtip, bad website
Hi to all,
I want to let you all know that the site that was mentioned above (getdroidtips) is misleading and could potentially brick your phone.
I have a Meizu M6T smartphone ( build M811H ) , bought it new 2 years ago in Europe.
Meizu M6T M811H
GSM baseband version : MOLY.LR11.W1630.MD.MP.V29.P31
CDMA : SIXTH.CBP.MD.MP5.V34_P7
and I've tried to upgrade to Flyme 7, however, the update they've referencing is I think a ROM from/for a different device ( doing search I found out that there are at least some localized version of M6T - which I think is a model of M6T that's selling in India and China only and is called Meizu 6T )
My personal opinion is that this budget phone is pretty much sturdy and capable, but lacks of proper company and community support, not so available parts ( or should I say very low quality are only able to find) and excessive amount of bloatware, made it obsolete little quicker.
Read and learn from my experience,
I’ve downloaded the update.zip from the link and installed as supposed using the steps .
After the update finished installing – I was welcomed by new start screen and I immediately noticed that phone runs much faster and much smoother.
However there are some issues with the update –
1. After the update, baseband isn’t working – it’s version is displayed as Unknown in the System settings. Same goes with both SIM card slots – the IMEI is displayed as null. Neither one SIM worked after the update.
2. Second thing I’ve noticed is that the actual name of the phone is now Meizu 6T. Not M6T, which makes me wonder if this actual update is from the another device. The listed ROMs on the official Meizu site doesn’t contain Flyme 7 version for the M6T ( not even the betas, which the update is – a beta version )
3. The third and most annoying thing is – even if this update installs Flyme 7 on the phone, it is still an Android 7 version, not Oreo. This phone never shipped with Oreo, it shipped with Flyme 6 and Android 7.0 Nougat. This update only installs Flyme 7, not a Android 8 OREO version.
I’m writing this because there is absolutely zero support on the XDA community for this model and the link above on GetDroidTips will probably cause you baseband not working and getting phone pretty much unusable ( I’ve stopped after base band issue, who knows what else doesn’t work ).
The procedure can be reversed by installing the previous 6.3 update from the Meizu site, but even after I’ve downgrade it, I experienced some weird behavior, additional bloated software and WIFI works weird and I needed to swap the SIM cards so they could work - and who knows what I'm to experience in next couple of days.
So I’m not sure if I would go after this if I knew what outcome may it bring.
If anyone had successfully updated the ROM - please share with us and let us know where did you purchased the phone, what version are you using and what baseband and GSM/CDMA versions were you on before etc.
Kind regards,
Pete
