Hey guys,
I have a Witson Head unit that is bricked or something, it has only black screen and the backlights flash when press power button or reset button. I tried so far every way to recover the unit with no success.
A person from Witson sent me 2 files to update the unit but did not work. So he told me that I will need to replace the core board.
Is it something that I can do? It must be from the exactly same model and vendor or the core board are "generic" for all MTCD units? Just in case the core board from witson is more expensive than for others.
Thanks for your help.

I installed Malaysk ROM, it was working fine for a few days, then the head unit was not reading my SD card so I click in the power option button (top bar) click restart and that's it, only black screen since then.

I told Witson about my problem and the vendor just told me that he can send me a new coreboard just need to pay the shipments, I got it last week and I installed it today and it working now ( I just paid 25 usd).
Thanks everyone for the help! :good:

Hi guys.
I bought KD Android 5.1 MTCD, 1024*600 car unit 3 month ago.
Unfortunately just after replacing the car battery (replace battery is sometimes with a number of small sparks) the unit completely dead, no screen, no power, no sound and it is not turned on at all that is bricked or something. I cannot see even the lollipop logo.
I tried so far every way to recover the unit with no success. It has only black screen and the backlights flickering when press power button or reset button.
The company say probably because of main board failure and suggest me finding someone to check the main board if it have any problem or not.
Would you please help me how I can check the main board?
Is it possible that main board have no problem and the core board have problem?
How do I find out the problem is related to the main board or the core board to order it?
Thanks a lot

hi people,
I have an asus tf300tg, unfortunately i've broke the touch screen. the version is the 5158n FPC-1 which is otherwise known as white label. I bought the new touch screen with the same code but it doesn't works.
I tried to do the restore factory setting with the power + volume down buttons, but nothing happened.
can someone tell me why? There is a thread that can help me?
I'm not expert so I would need a step by step guide.
thanks in advance to all who help me.

Have you found a solution yet? If you haven't go to this thread fro remedies. Again, spending more money on a 5158n is totally unnecessary; could have wasted it on beer instead.:

You don't need a keyboard to reflash the touch firmware unless you need to tick USB debugging. You can do that with a 10 dollar usb adapter and a regular mouse instead. But you do need to check your hardware. Scan pages 11-14 about the coil. If it's burned, no touchscreen will work.

hi,
i don't have good news, when arrived the keyboard i've updated the OS but the touch still doesn't works, then i thought that was burned the coil and i've ordered a new one, i installed it but the touch still doesn't works.
in the settings, the version of the touch screen panel is now: ELAN-0000-0000.
I tried to update to the new OS, but it's still ELAN-0000-0000.
anyone has any suggestions before I decide to throw him against the wall?
thanks

The burned coil, if it's burned, is located on the motherboard next to the ts board connector (flat silver cable), not the ts board itself. What new one did you order?

Look at the enclosed thumb and try to locate the same coil on your motherboard to see if it's burned or not. If it is, a new TS board won't help.
My touchscreen is not working anymore after replacing the connector of the lcd cable -> http://www.casestores.com/images/v/20120920/696/CC11CD63.jpg . I recently changed also the mainbord flex cable -> http://www.consoleplug.com/Products...r HTC Sensation Motherboard Flex Cable-A2.gif
It is impossible for me to flash it because my recovery requires the touchscreen.
What can I do ?
You Can Flash Clockworkmod recovery via Fastboot .
It requires no Touch But isnt the best in my opinion But should work.

So you think its a software related problem. The LCD flex cable 23 pins connector which is soldered newly should have no impact on the touch screen, the only function of it is making the lcd work am İ right? İ tried 2 different touch screens without succes. The volume buttons which the connector is on the mainbord I replaced like I said above are working. I want to understand why it is a software related problemen then.

Hello XDA,
My Nexus 5 running CM12 5.0.2 nightly will not respond to the touches anymore infact when I press the power button to activate the display it acts as if someone is touching it randomly messing all the apps that are running and opening and closing many other things.
Furthermore it displays weird and burned lines throughout the screen. It was not dropped, no water went inside the device or anything. If it helps I did install the OTA updates that CM gives us.
I have also attached pictures so you may get a better understanding of my problem.
Thanks in advance.

Hmm I see. Well since a month HAS passed, its definetly not the rom thats causing the problem, i don't know if anything regarding the software could even be causing the problem. Its 100% hardware and by that i mean the screen, you should change it, the touch and also the display are messed up.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news - but your screen is toast. Fortunately you can replace the touch and display components all at once.
http://www.amazon.com/Skiliwah-Digitizer-Assembly-Google-nexus5/dp/B00HN0U168
Here is what you need to perform the repairs - and here are the procedures for disassembly.
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Disassembling+Nexus+5+Display+Teardown+-+liquid+damage/32410
Trust me, it's not that difficult. Unfortunately, it's a bit pricey ($60 for the screen and digitizer), nevertheless much cheaper than a new device or sending your device in for repairs.
Rma
Problem Solved
The screen isn't toast, neither is the digitizer. I have 2 of these phones. The parts which cause problems like this are the main board and the ribbon with the USB connector on it, which also attaches the screen & digitizer to the main board. One was showing lines exactly like this, & also no touch. I put a replacement main board in. Works great now. The other, wouldn't even turn on. I put the main board from the first phone in the second one, it still wouldn't turn on. I replaced the ribbon cable, it turns on and perfectly replicates the issue from the first phone. So now, I have one fully functioning LG Nexus 5, and another which turns on with the same problem as yours. This is good, I started out with 2 of them that were useless to me. So, it appears that your display and touch issues are caused solely by a bad main board. A replacement main board costs somewhere around $75. After swapping stuff around, I have 2 bad main boards, 1 bad USB ribbon & 1 working phone of 2. Not bad, not bad at all.
Ok, I have a Nexus 5 16GB unlocked and I'm having the broken power button issue, it only powers up when on the charger and just bootloops from Google splash screen back to blank. Tapping the back while trying to power it on works but only until I stop tapping. The answers I have seen all end with buying a new motherboard / logic board and swapping it out.
My question is, will a board from a 32GB with a shattered screen work on my originally 16GB N5? Does anything else make any difference in swapping like carrier / unlocked or 820 vs 821???
I already have the old board removed... Its just a matter of finding one to swap with.........
I really need this thing fixed if at all possible, thanks in advance for your help.
Go ahead. Will work just fine.

Can't you just modify your power button with like mod and improvisation to make it not stick always? One of my friend had same power button stuck problem. He wait to local repair center and with the help of technician modified his power button to make it click again.

Board swap from Nexus 32gb to 16 gb
Hey guys,
I need a quick response on this one. Does it affect the performance of Nexus 5 if i swap the board from 32gb to 16gb one?
The service centre ran out of boards because of no production and they only have 16gb board. They are asking me should they replace the board of my 32gb nexus 5 with the 16gb board.
Thanks in advance ...
so if i have the boot-looping problem on a 32 gig lg nexus motherboard. will the phone work completely fine if I put a 16 gig board in it or will the problem persist
Hey xda people,
yesterday i checked the inside of my N5 because i wanted to order a new flex cable since i have the all too famous no mic on call problem which i fixed with a bit of electrical tape.
I removed the tape and assembled the phone again to reduce the stress on the mainboard until the new flex cable arrives. Since today though, i am having issues with the screen. It went scrambled and glitched out a bit, and whenever i turn the phone off (stand-by) and leave it for a few minutes, only the backlight will turn back on and stay on (can't power it off by power button, have to reboot it by holdong the power button).
Did anyone else here ever have the same issue? Is it the mainboard failing? Or the screen connector? Or is it a software issue?
I think it's too much of a coincidence that this occurred immediately after you opened the phone up.
Based on this, I believe you may not have reassembled the phone exactly the way it was, some connection slightly loose. I'd open it up and take another look, follow a few youtube guides and compare.

couldn't type out the whole thing properly since i was on my phone.
anyway, this is definitely not the case since i haven't really "disassembled it" i only took the back cover and mainboard cover off to put the quick fix for the flex cable problem in place. i didn't do anything other than that.
a quick update on the status though: the screen doesn't work at all right now, the phone became completely unusable and it only flickers on if i press on the flexcable on the mainboard so probably something on the other side of the mainboard is broken... does anyone know which cable on the mainboard is the display connector? is the flex cable in any way linked to the display?
another quick update: i put the tape back in place and it works again, but i'd really like to know how to fix this without having a bulge on the back of my phone :/
if someone could give me some insight on how the LCD is wired on the N5, that would be great (backlight works, my concern is the actual "image data" channel).
Can't really find it in the service manual

Should be original. I think the mainboard is damaged from the pressure, when i press on a certain spot on the mainboard (not the flex) the display works. However this works less and less the more i do it of course, so i think the mainboard will die soon, probably going to have to get a new phone.
