Water Damage OP0 - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello All,
I mistakenly placed my OPO in a small puddle of water last Friday morning (3 days ago) and I didn't notice the damage done till the screen started flickering and that's when I noticed the water strains under the screen..Phone calls wouldn't go and the phone shutdown eventually. I searched around and somebody on this forum mentioned they put their phone in a rice bag for a few days after being damaged by tea.. ..that's exactly what i did on Friday evening- placed it in a rice bag and semi sealed it.
It lay in the rice bag till today morning and I intermittently checked couple of times on saturday and Sunday.. Yesterday I noticed that the red light was blinking and the phone would vibrate in my hands upon pressing the power button(under charge). That was the case till now, but just half an hour ago, the battery started charging and i could seen the white charge indicator! When it charged to about 5 %, I tuned it on and everything seems to work - the screen, phone calls, data, wifi..
But I still see the water strains under the screen. Do you recommend that I start using it again or does it need the rice bag treatment for some more time?
I tried removing the back cover to disconnect the battery but I was just not able to..
Thanks for the help guys- and thanks for the suggestions in some of the other threads that I followed.
Regards,
Tej

help water damage tilt

maybe.... I did a search and could not find what i was looking for...or found too much.
This is what happened, it rained, my windows were up. When i got in the car it dropped in the middle console were it was a little water. It was there for a second before I grabbed it and put it in my purse.
When I got home i dried it..removing the sim card and battery. the white thing is still white. It will keep popping up with stuff.
I read if you can get the battery to heat up that will help. is that true?
I work for att so i know i am screwed if there is water damage. i can't buy another one cause i purchase at none committment and the last one cost me 410.
I done retrofited my phone so i will be praying all night that it works.
HELP GIVE ME FACTS
if the white thing is still white and if you have warranty go for a replacement coz i think they only check the white thing. or go to a local phone repair shop and they will do it for a cheap price. i had my nokia repaired from water damage for 15 pounds about 6 years ago.
Tips:
1....Dry it with a towel.
2....Take off the battery.
3....Never put the battery back and turn it on, if you are not sure the unit is totally dry.
4....You can wrap it in tissue (both battery and unit) and put it in a sealed plastic bag of rice grains. Why? Because rice grains are natural desicants. It will absorb all the excess moisture you can't dry with the towel. Leave it there for a minimum of 4 days.
5....You can only place the battery back and turn it on if you are really sure the unit and battery are totally dry.
update
every is working fine. I slept with it to under my pillow. I also check my sim card and that was wet. after I dryed that, i put my sim card in my standby phone.
Everything is working good now!
just a general instuction
1.get the battery out (because watter can't harm it if there is no electricity)
2a.dry it with a towel, just to get rid of any water that could float out of it
2b.dry it with a hairdryer or a radiator. (don't expose to fire)
3.instead of ryce you can use ethanol ( C2H5OH ) to get the water out and to clean it...use a brush to do it
4.try not to drop it again
personaly i dismantle the device when drying it...that way i'm sure there is no water left in it
but for inexperienced people or those devices with warranty...i suggest you don't dismantle it
I took the battery out and placed both battery and phone into instant rice. Works great
working fine
my phone is working fine.
It had some problems, it was the keyboard, kept acting up. so open it and let the keyboard dry (i don't use the keyboard...lol) took out the sim card and dried the area where it was, a little bit of water was on it. Dried it, and put it under my pillow for heat..lol.
Took it to work the next morning and it was having trouble with alignment when i used the stylus. so after redoing the alignment it has been working fine.
Thanks for the help.

Dropped mine in the toilet!
The unthinkable happened. I have insurance on my tilt... but the thought of a whole day re-flashing and installing software made my stomach hurt.
I did the following-
1. Took out the battery within 10 seconds
2. Took out sim card & the microsd
3. Shook out all the water I could
4. Used a whole can of compressed air to blow any moisture out
5. Placed in a bag with silica gel packets for 30 hours
I was amazed when the thing booted right up! EVERYTHING works perfectly- wifi, GPS, camera, speaker, mic, buttons, and touchscreen! This thing is a tank!

Dropped my phone in water :/

Hi guys!
Two days ago,I dropped my phone in my sink, which was full of water :/ I immediately took it out, took the battery out, dried it with microfiber cloth and then put it in the bowl of rice. It stayed there till yesterday morning (approximately 9hrs). When i took it out,I powered it on,and it worked totally normal, except there were water marks on my screen. I thought that water has penetrated between digitizer and LCD,but now I beleive that it was actually in LCD,because objects, letters on screen were seen as they were above those marks. I tried to open it yesterday,to see if anything has coroded on mainboard, and when I dissasembled it,no marks were noticed. I also thought about dissasembling the digitizer and LCD,but I didn't do that as I was afraid that I might do even more harm.. Also, yesterday I left it again in a bowl of rice, but I added silica gel this time also, and it spent 10hrs in the bowl this time. I took it out, powered on,and it worked, although with same water marks on the screen..
20 minutes ago,i noticed that it stopped working, stopped charging. I tried powering it on,and it did power on,but, not completely. It went through boot screen succesfully, played htc sound, and opened desktop.Suddenly, the screen went black, but it was clearly still on,as light was present.
Now I don't know what else to do...Any suggestions? Is it repairable or I can just say goodbye to it ?:/
Thanks in advance!

You can try to repair the digitizer, but other parts could be damaged as well...
You should take a look at this thread before you change your LCD, that is, if you want to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19649563

! think You can use low level heater to disassembled screen and digitizer
warm it

[Q] moto g fell in water

my moto g fell in water. it is not working. will it come under warranty . if not how much it costs for repair..........................................
I believe that all manufacturers state in their standard warranty that water damage is not covered. If you take the rear cover off and take a look towards the bottom, you'll see there's a small red mark that indicates water damage. If this is present, you're out of luck with regards to an in-warranty repair.
My suggestion would be to store the phone in a container with dried, brown rice, for two days. Perhaps place the container on top of a radiator or similar heat source, to speed up the evaporation process. You don't want to induce too much heat to further damage the device.
Also possible is a bag of silica gel crystals that you usually get in pairs of shoes - place this in an airtight container with the phone and they'll soak up some moisture.
My girlfriend recently dropped the Moto G in water and within two days it was fully repaired, now works perfectly. Don't give up on it yet!
Got similar problem, my daughter drop her Motorola into bath. Left to dry for more than day next to boiler. Now not turning on, when plug charger LED flash white and goes off. After few seconds again and again just flashes and no more.
Thinking that battery gone as manage to turn on phone after incident and spotted that battery was on 0%.

plug it into the charger and hold the power button for 2-3minutes. then leave it charging for an hour and than try to turn it on.
Put it in a bowl of uncooked rice and cover it, leave it there for 2 days. It's serious, check YouTube if you don't believe it. It works, it dries the water out!

This is the easiest way
Just get some dried rice and put your moto g/any phone dropped in water in a container and close it.Let it in there for overnight and tupp your pgone is alright
Moto Go falls into closet.
This happened yesterday noon. It was submerged for around 6-8 secs b4 I pulled it out. It looked like it was working fine. Nevertheless I took off the cover and tried drying it with a towel before I switched it off. (Total time till here 30-40 secs). Being quite an impatient guy, I turned it on after a few mins. (Let's say under 10 mins so far). It turned on with no problem. As calls were to be made, I dialed a number. As I heard the ringing on the other side, I assumed all was fine. But tht was not yet to be. Notice me saying yet?! Yes, this one has a happy ending.
Moving on. The person on the other end of the line could not hear me other than in short bursts, like having a 1 sec break/pause in between conversations. I tried calls with the speaker phone switched on. But it kept turning off and on again between the ringing. I switched it off and took out the sim. I did not do that the first time (Very foolish of me). It was clearly damp. I went on to dry it with a towel. I turned the phone bck on. Calls were made but the same issues persisted. I tried playing some music but it would stop right after it started. This was where I started to get a bit worried. I took off the cover and vigorously swung/waved the phone about trying to force out any excess water. The effort was not futile. The song continued playing. I immediately make a call but the break was still very much there. This went on till late evening.
Before the day was over, everything was working fine. There were lags but tht was there when I bought the phone (28/05/14). I used a 4S before this, so forgive if I seem a bit harsh. Tht too was dropped in a river, drenched with curd milk and submerged in beer. It still worked fine till a guy snatched it from me.
Cheers!
PS: I did not have access to a blower/dryer or any rice but that is the way it should be done. I'm just posting here so those who don't have tht around might get a confidence boost. Hope this helps.
Adam Outler had a pretty good video about this. It basically said to remove power ASAP (i.e. open up the phone and disconnect the battery) and submerge everything in high purity ethyl or isopropyl alcohol to displace the water and dry it out much faster.
Moto g Accedentally dropped in water
Hi,
I own a moto g which accedentally dropped in water. i took it off and it was working fine for few min. After some time i noticed some water inside my screen and my touch was not working. I left my phone for some time. After an hour when i restarted my phone my touch was working. To dry down the water, i kept my phone under shady sun light for about 2 hours. Now when i try to switch it on the led light is blinking 3 times as if it do when the battery drains. I tried to charge my phone and now the LED light is blinking and later it stopped.
If my circuits are crashed will the LED light blink. Because i used my phone before if completely dried off.
Hi , I dropped my moto g2 in to water tub ...It took a few seconds before I took it out ... Then i dried it for about an hour in sun light and kept it switched off for about almost a day .... Now it works fine but some time it gives sound like water in a hot pan..... Any suggestion would b much appreciated... Thanks in advancr

Water Damaged Phone, Help!

Hey!
So On Saturday I dropped my phone down the toilet by accident, i removed it from the toilet, after about 5-10 seconds, and it was still on, it seemed fine, so I was like ohh okay...i dried it ect ect and it was working fine, but some parts of the touch wasn't working so I left it on as i could not switch it off. On that night i dried it with the hair dryer as well, didn't work, so wrapped it in a towel and but it in the boiler cubard to keep warm for around 12 hours maybe more...tried to switch it on and it didn't work again.
the day later (Sunday) decided to take it apart, and dry the insides, still wasn't working, but the notification light is on and sometimes flickers so i slept with it under my pillow as it would keep warm over night, on Monday, i put the charger in and the screen came on to that battery charging screen for around 5-6 seconds and it said it was on 0%....the notification light was still on.
I Put the phone in some rice in a box, wrapped it in a towel and left it in the boiler cubard again until Wednesday, afternoon....
what can i do?? will this work?? how much would it cost to get fixed?
is the touch screen broke? do i need new battery? ect ect
THANKS!
Best thing to do if you get a phone wet is turn it off and leave it off for at least a week. The problem is that moisture gets inside the phone itself and just takes time to evaporate. If you turn it on or leave it on after water gets in you run the risk of shorting something out and killing the phone (which is what sounds like happened). As far as repairing it is concerned, might as well get a new one, it'll cost less.
your phone should survive just give it some time in the rice, my brothers samsung ace went through something similar and he put it in rice and it was fine after a day buried in it, there is videos of the moto g submerged in water for a while and still works fine
good luck

Water damaged, is there hope?

I dunked half of my phone, the top part in tap water, to clean and cool it. After probably 10 minutes it went crazy. Stupid me, and being fully confident that water damage is not the problem, I restarted it and charge it... From 67% the battery says 20 and it does not go up. After several restarts, I thought maybe it's the water.
So i closed it and check the sim card tray and surprisingly it has water inside. Even turned off, the phone suddenly vibrated for ~15 minutes. Now my phone is turned off and soaked in rice for hours. What should I do? Is there hope? I do not have warranty, did not buy it here in my country. =(
its basic rule! whenever water enters/touch to any electrical items, NEVER switch on until fully dry
since you may already have damanged! its best to take it t othe service centre! or atleast some workshop to a person who is fully qualified desambling and assembling xperia!
if i were you i may have opened all lids of the phone and sun dry it for few hours! may shake a little for any drops in side! , later after i feel it has dried, i would have put it on charge and see what LED it blinks! (over night)
if red led coming then there is HOPE and fone may come back to life in couple of days of charging!

Hi! I have been drying it for 2 days, and I tried turning it on, and it does nothing. Though I charged it, LED turned red, screen showed charging though it buzzes continuously. So I removed it and I'll probably bring it to a repair shop. Do you think it still has a chance?
