LCD problem, seems like its rotated... - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

Hi!
yesterday i bought a Sony Xperia X dual sim and i am sure i bough it Sealed and original with warranty. (i checked it)
but after i called them (warranty and support is very bad in my country - iran) they said there is no change for me with this problem.
the problem:
as u see in picture, LCD is rotated a bit
(when you hold in hand it's much more clear than this photo which i take with my low quality tablet camera)
well, as for a Sony Device with high build quality, i'm little disappointed.
any of you guys have same problem?

This is a clear manufacturing defect. Seems like Sony started using premium materials but not a premium quality control. I also have manufacturing problem with my phone. Did you buy yours online, or from a local shop?

Hey, thanks for answering
i bought it from local shop (its 2-3) days that XZ is comes here.
yeah i wonder too, if it was any other brand i had no problem with that but as a sony phone with higher price than others, well not so good
can you say what manufacturing defect you got with yours?

REMOVED -

well Sony engineering design is top notch, but manufacturing is done by Foxconn if I recall correctly

Extremelly bricked phone

Hello all,
For the past 2 months, I have been facing various problems with my VOX. First, the display was not working properly. Then, the spring between the two halves started sticking out. Next, suddenly, after I restarted the phone, I saw that the display was blank. I thought that there might be some problem in the cable connection between the two halves. On closer inspection, I saw that a plastic like cable(presumably, the connection between the two PCBs) had got cut. Also, due to an earlier mishap, my receive call button had broken.
I would like to know if my phone is salvageable, and if yes, at what cost.
Presumable repairs needed:
1: keypad replacement
2: possible display replacement
3: maybe the connector between the two halves needs to be replaced.
4: connector between the two halves needs to be replaced.
I would like to get a rough idea as to how much will it cost to effect these repairs from the authorized service centre and if it will be worth going through at all.
I like this phone for its versatility and do not want to replace it without giving it a benefit of doubt.
Hoping to hear from you all as soon as possible.
Akshay
The authorised service center will charge approx 1000 for serving as labour and fitting charges. and rates for genuine spares if u buy them from service centres are
keypad - Rs. 600
display - Rs. 3200
connector - dont know
but still, after so much expenditure, they still wont guarantee for it to work though!
so, dyu think its time for me to let go of the phone??
If yes, then i have been looking at a few models, what do you think about the new samsung marine or star 3G??
Or suggest me a phone below Rs.10k and having maximum features... touchscreen is optional
If you are really affectionate to your VOX, then i'll suggest you to buy another VOx because i would have done the same.
else you can look for more mobile phones at poorvika.com, indiagsm.com, compareindia.com or gsmarena.com. but do tell me the one you buy.
try ordering online at ebay. i ordered mine for 42 US dollars just arrived 2 weks ago. Its an orginal housing front and back and including front and back keyboard. Il look again for the buyer and post his name here. Too bad fpc keypad is not included. But the housing is original.
Just get the service manual from winmodaco for htc vox
ditch it....
I went to the service centre. the guy there sed that the whole thing will cost a minimum Rs.3000 upto 70% of the phone cost ie. Rs.7000.
I think its time for me to move on [sob][sob]...
ah well, the phone served me well during its time....
goodbye HTC....
will post my new phone selection when i get it.

I think after using vox u can never be satisfied with Gene.
Vox is far much better, specially for those who love to watch video and movies on their phones since the video quality in GENE is far more inferior than VOX. but one thing is for sure that GENE in cheaper than vox but price hardly matters if u want satisfaction.

Update
Sorry for reviving the thread, but I need your opinion on the topic again.
The service center guy told me that there was a complete hardware failure( too obvious, cos the torn cable between the two halves were clearly visible)
He said that it would take Rs.10k($200 approx) for complete repair. This mindblowing charge made me gulp and i took the cellphone back. Coming back to home, I saw that the guy was just citing the obvious as he had most definitely not at all opened the phone and tested it for any other faults. So, i took up matters in my own hands and opened my phone(finally). Well, I had nothing to lose and hence, went ahead. After opening the phone, I saw that one the springs in the sliding apparatus had loosened, and come in the way of the cable. The flimsy cable had gotten caught and hence, had got torn due to sliding of the two halves.
In the end, after complete disassembly, I saw that the only visibly damaged part was the cable between the two halves. I cannot see any reason to charge 10k for that. So i am planning to go to the repair center and show him the damaged part only and ask him to replace it. Searching the net, I found that the replacement part for the rigid flex board( I believe that's what it is) is $89( mebbe totally $100 approx after shipping charges, etc..).
So, do I go ahead and order the replacement from the net and reassemble the whole thing on my own, or do I not risk it?
I am gonna buy a new phone anyway, mostly the samsung marine. It looks good, albeit the small screen.
what i think is, you should post some pics to show us. someone might be know what wrong with your phone.
also we not know what exact problem hardware you are facing. if you have extra money why not to take a risk. same to me when im trying to replace a ribbon cable in my hermes. the shop said it will be cost 80usd/280myr. so i decide to not repair it and let it be...
now im happy with my vox and kaiser...
I am in a catch 22 situation. I have to take a photo of my damaged vox, but my vox is the only decent camera in my house. Neways, to give you a rough idea of what is broken, I will attempt to photoshop a stock image of the component.
The site from where i obtained the image( http://mobile.brando.com.uk ) was selling the same for $38+$3(shipping). I want to know if this site can be trusted and also, what are the chances for me to fix the vox at home without any further damage.
When I opened the phone, I saw that the connection was pretty delicate, So, I am a bit cautious of a home repair.
PS: here is the link of the product: http://mobile.brando.com/htc-s710-rigid-flex-board_p03852c1023d088.html
@RxenDrav: If the site is good, you too can check for your item there.
Plz help...
K ppl nebody hv ne idea what shud i do now? shud i risk 35$ or go for a new phone?
akshay, unfortunately im not profesional and dont have any experience in dissamble or repairing htc vox. but i'd done before on my hermes..
Someone here should help akshay fixing their vox...Anyone out there? we need help here!
also akshay you also can buy a used vox from your indian friend check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554896
ask him
hi akshay,
instead of wasting your Rs. 2000 (approx), you can buy a second hand vox for Rs. 3000 (approx) at gaffar market in new delhi. Since i saw many of them being sold there yesterday. You can get a 'never disassembled' phone instead of disassembling your phone and then reassembling your phone.
I have faced this many times, that each time my vox has been disassembled, everytime a new problem arises. So dont be so sure even after buying that abovementioned part. I think you can look for a used vox in pune also. u can easily find a cheap and gud one.

Just dropped my Z3 @@

I just dropped the Z3 !!!! there was no damage or dent on it, but the speakers don't sound fine. The bottom one barely produced sound while the top was much louder I didn't test them before, but it seems like the bottom speakers was a bit muted. I was very worried.
by the way I bought it online on Sony Store, If I return it, will I have shipping options? like one-day shipping or such? 'cause I can't wait to get a new one. Anybody ever returned it before? pls help me!!!

If you bought it online, I think you still can go to a nearby Sony store and ask for a replacement. However, since you dropped it, its the user's fault. So do not say you dropped it but rather it was like this when you received it

Thank you a lot, but after an hour my phone work fine. It's because I washed it after dropping it, so the water might be still there a little, that's why speakers had problem... after it evaporated everything came back to normal. Thank you

Glad to hear that. Heard alot of cases that when u just submerged the z3 in water, the speaker would not work or become softer. It happened in the entire z series i think. So sad sony couldnt fix it.

Cracked my z3 while snowboarding today...

Does sony repair front screens cracks? My back camera is not working either for some reason.... the crack is only on the front, back looks normal.
I have the Dual Sim version.. and live in the US.
How much does sony charge? I can't find any local shops that fix the z3 here.
Thanks.
How
Probably be anywhere between $150-250.
My G2 screen replacement was ~$240 at GopherMods when it was 3 months old in Dec 2013. Fixed for free as they messed up 3 times. You are better getting it fixed by Sony itself instead of some of these third party shops where they learn their job on your phone.
If you can do it yourself probably be around $100-150 for the LCD/digitizer assembly. If you want to replace just the glass/digitizer it would be a chore but be even less, not even Sony would do this as it's too much work.
At least $200 if you send it to Sony for repair, but it would cost much less if you want to repair it yourself.

They should, or they would be at fault and liable to replace it again, unless they detected chlorine or salt residues. So basically if it fails in "fresh water" with flaps closed its not your fault.

[Q] How to choose a touch screen digitizer replacement?

Hello!
I live in Japan but I bought an unlocked phone from Amazon, so it is very hard to find a place to do repairs and I was thinking about doing it myself.
It fell down and the glass cracked (picture attached). The LCD screen is ok, so I just need the digitizer and I want to know what to consider when buying one.
(I have no idea what I am doing )
Please send links to ebay items (or from anywhere that ships to Japan) that you think are ok.
Thanks!!

I know, but the only other option is to send my phone to the US to get repairs, and they won't even ship internationally, so i would need someone in the us to ship it back to me (which i don't have), and i don't know if i would have to pay taxes again, so it is a lot easier to just change the screen myself.
It is a bummer, but what else can I do? (Seriously, I am asking...)
I don't know specifically about the z3 but for most new phones the digitizer is glued to the lcd screen and is a real pain to remove - you have to heat it carefully using heat gun/blow dryer and it's a delicate process of removing the glass from the lcd. In Canada the repair costs around $200 from authorized Sony repair center. Have you called Sony mobile support? I'm sure they have a repair center in Japan that they could direct you to...

I did call them and there is no official Sony repair center in Japan.
It's because in Japan you can't just buy an unlocked phone, all phones are sold by the phone companies, there isn't a Sony store, so only the phone companies provide the repairs, but they won't take mine exactly because it is a unlocked version.
I bought mine unlocked on Amazon because I am going back to my country this year and I didn't want a locked phone.
I got an estimate of 5200 yen to replace the glass, which is around 50 usd, so I am really sad because the price difference between the spare part and the actual repair is very small.

If I may say, $50 is not bad at all considering Sony would charge you to replace the whole LCD unit ($150 - $200)... on the other hand I wish Sony would do what Google does and replace one broken screen free of charge (or so I hear).
Good luck.

Z1c D5503 - screen replacement -- lcd + digitizer -- best deal for Europe ?

Hello,
I need to change my faulty z1c (D5503) screen (lcd + digitizer) for the 2d time in a few months (broken screen in the 1st time, water damage + alcohol isoprop ... in the 2d time) and choose the right seller.
I checked on the market + this forum and here are my findings :

3) Aliexpress : (24 us dollars ...) : http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-..._73_74_75,searchweb201527_3,searchweb201560_9
Could anyone tell me if the 3) can be as good as the first 2 ?

Can you share a pic of your Z1C with this screen pls?
i've got some through a dutch shop, costing me 77Eur, seems to me that it isn't exactly same as original sony as colors were quite different (too much saturated/red).
now it's only WITH a frame, not sure if that's easier to deal with for repair:
http://telecom2day.com/sony/sony-xp...ay-lcd-unit-met-frame-sony-xperia-z1-compact/
ps, aliepress is not fast in delivering stuff, so if you want it before the end of the year, better look somewhere else
I bought this one and mounted it myself, and i have'nt noticed any difference in quality from the original display. Just make sure to watch a video tutorial on how to change it.
Adhesive tape and correct tools was not included, but ordered from china.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221822457294?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Some how, I got unlucky and touch input broke down on me. Tried a lot,but phone is written off now. Went to nexus 5x and happy.
I bought a display from ebay for 30$, and it is working great. Not original though, but have'nt noticed any difference at all. Been using it for 3 months without a single problem.
It was this one: http://m.ebay.com/itm/UK-Touch-Disp...i-Compact-M51w-D5503-/221822457294?nav=SEARCH
To people who ordered from ebay: Which glue did you buy?
And what does it mean "no frame" ? Do you need to salvage this 'frame' from your broken screen?
I just broke my screen. Dropped it from 20cm at just the right angle I guess I've been doing some research, looks like you can't replace only the digitizer without special tools?
I've got mine from Ebay, it came with glue also. It has the same colors like the original one and it's working flawless for 5 months now.
Here is the link for the display I've bought.
Hello,
let me throw another hat in the ring: I bought my screen assembly from parts4repair, they sell them starting at 32 €. I bought the one for 42 €, as it is supposed to be the original replacement part. I did not realize any different colors. Delivery took about 6 weeks and packaging was really good (stable, well protected).
In another thread I already posted about this little project, here it is again:
I did completely disassemble my Z1compact recently and replaced back housing and the screen, using adhesive stickers (they were even said to be the original, real deal. I cleaned the contact areas with cleaning alcohol prior to reassembling the phone, so everything was just as intended). Everything worked fine, looked just as new - but after only 2 days, the adhesive did already start to loosen again in different areas!
I told a friend of mine about the problem (he fixes mobile phones the whole day long, as a profession), and he answered that they never use the stickers, but a special kind of silicone! The important part is, that it is a silicon which hardens without releasing acid (normally acetic acid is fumed out), so the electronic circuits do not become damaged. I bought one like this: Silicon Adhesive and everything worked fine It's been two months now and there are no problems, it's even water proof again.
Some comments: The silicone needs at least 24h to harden, I placed my phone under 4 heavy books in order to apply steady pressure during that time. That may have been a little bit too heavy, however, because the screen is a little bit lower than before and I can see small, somewhat "lighter" areas right where the contacts of the screen are, just the kind like pressing your finger on a lcd display too much. So better use only 2 books during hardening the silicone
Happy tinkering!
I got the same problem with my phone - I broke digitizer on my weekend trip... I don't know guys if it's an option for you, but in Poland you can replace screen much cheaper:

I bought LCD with digitizer, tools and glue for about 200PLN (less than 50€) and the seller claims it's an original one... Of course there may be some problems with foreign shipment but I think it shall work in EU for most of the sellers.
I let you know in a few day - I am waiting for delivery right now...

Yeah, that's great!
I made a post HERE about a water damaged screen, long story short after buying two cheap screens online and sending them both back for a refund because I wasn't happy with either of them I bit the bullet and sent my phone to Sony for a genuine OEM replacement to be fitted. Neither of the cheap screens came with the ASF and didn't have the foam that was attached to the back of my original.

I made a post HERE about a water damaged screen, long story short after buying two cheap screens online and sending them both back for a refund because I wasn't happy with either of them I bit the bullet and sent my phone to Sony for a genuine OEM replacement to be fitted. Neither of the cheap screens came with the ASF and didn't have the foam that was attached to the back of my original.

you must really love your z1c to pay that money, hope you enjoy it!
so it s a big difference sony OEM screen vs the cheap ones?
i replaced mine with cheap one(two times) and both times found the colours <<washed>> and low brightness too in comparison with OEM.

A few People have said to me just buy a new one, but I do love it and want to keep it to use as my spare when I finally do, I want another Compact but the last few just haven't done it for me. It's killed me using my old Xperia Ray this last week and still have another week and a half to go. Going to flash GB to it this weekend and see if that makes it more bearable.

The first screen had lifted a little so that made me question the adhesive too, from reading online I then thought it was because I hadn't cleaned the frame properly, so made sure I had before laying the second screen, but that eventually started to lift too. I found the same as you in regards to the screen, the colours just weren't right and had to use full brightness which then obviously chews through the battery. I even reflashed my phone to see if that made a difference, as we know there are two different panels used I thought maybe when the phone gets reflashed it may configure it for the display that's attached but it didn't.
If the X Compact had a better spec I would have bought it and a cheap screen for the Z1C as that would be going in the wardrobe along with the Arc S and Ray hopefully never to be seen again for another 50 years, but as it's going to be my daily for a little while longer I just want it perfect.
UPDATE:
Just heard back from Sony today and not good news. First of all they emailed me to say a quote was available to view in my support which basically said it was uneconomical to repair and offered an equivalent phone for a cost of £250+, baffled by their quote and comments I then got straight on the phone as all my Z1C needs to function is a screen , the operator told me to get the phone back to a guaranteed status the technician had wanted to replace more parts. To a degree I can see where they are coming from but having already had two screens on with no issues other than the poor quality of them it's quite annoying.
So as my hand has been forced a screenless Z1C will be going on ebay as soon as I get it back, and I'll be ordering a Z5C tonight.
